I was pleasantly surprised by how big the store was, yet how small it felt like an old school surf shop like the one I used to hang out at back in Venice and Santa Monica. Obviously the times have changed and the equipment has become better, and the prices have gore accordingly. One of the best things about the Catalyst shop besides the online customer support team, was how friendly and knowledge the staff was. Al kidding aside they explain it to me in a little more detail, and that was enough for me. Back to the point, the Catlayst shop on El Camino was a throwback to the 80s and 90s and in my old age, that is a huge compliment. Thanks. Shout out to Camden and Eric for their help more recently.

I really needed to go down a size and get a softer board. After losing track of time months later, I found out that the style I wanted was already sold out almost everywhere, and my size was nowhere to be found. I searched the internet for so many nights just to keep track of anything to come back in stock. After giving up on online searches, I decided to look into local shops. I got so lucky to stumble upon a shop in my hometown that had my size AND a sale price as well. When I called, the guy was nice enough to keep it on hold for me so that I can come on a day where my work schedule isn't crazy. I wish I got your name. It was honestly one of my most mentally exhausting and frustrating weeks, and I guess I was trying to find something I wanted so that I could treat myself and have something to look forward to. To be honest I was ready to pay full price for how much I wanted this board. I know CBS doesn't sell online and I am grateful I had somewhere to go where online shoppers weren't a competition. Thank you again for your assistance with helping me build my dream board and for making my week better when I made the purchase. I'm beyond grateful! I can't wait to become a frequent shopper here in the winter

She recommended a 6.5" fin, I learned that Bill Stewart invented with the 2+1 fin setup. I've owned 4 Stewart Surfboards over the years. I've always liked the beveled edge on the Stewart boards. They work as good as they look. they turn better than any board i've ever had. The Stewart/Leines family and everyone at the shop are very friendly, down to earth and pretty laid back. It's just a fun place to go, look at surfboards. They have a huge selection of boards to look at, and they are made in the USA.

He found that it needed a fin box repair and a stripped screw replacement. He fixed the issues, and also did a re-repair of a small hole the board had, which had a sloppy repair, without me even asking. He made the repair totally smooth and good as new. So if you ever buy a beater board or just need a repair, bring it by this shop. And then yesterday I picked up a new board that Cordell made me, and he reccomended heading down to Stewart to buy some fins for it, so I did. Everyone was super nice in the shop. It's cool that a guy that shapes boards for some of the best surfers in the world has the time to give me feedback and support on mine. I got a 5'6 Sunstone that I ride much of the time as it can grovel and handle some good surf too. Love the feel of this board. I also have a 5'8 Twinsman that I take out when there's decent to epic surf and it works really well and feels great. It can handle some size and works in hollow waves too. I have surfed for 40 years and have found these boards to work as a two board quiver. I have quite a few other boards that I love, from other shapers, but these are two of my favorites. I needed a board for bigger waves and just picked up a 6'2 Moonstone. It looks epic and I can't wait to ride it. As far as the shop goes, it's like walking into a surfboard art gallery but with boards that are functional and performance based. Beautiful shapes and insane airbrushes. All of my boards are white because that's what I like but I could see myself getting some airbrush at some point. Shop staff are really kind and helpful as well.
