I live in San Diego and have always wanted to take up snorkeling but had frustrating experiences with cheap/rented masks in the past so I did some research to find something better. I found a mask/snorkel set that I thought I wanted online and Lost Winds was the only nearby place that had it available for pickup so I decided to make the hour long drive. When I got there, I received the most amazing customer service from Eric who I later realized was the owner. He had me make sure the mask fit but let me know he would've suggested another one for me based on my needs. He took the time to let me try something else and explained in detail why he made the suggestions he did. He was happy to refund my original online order and exchange it for his suggestions (not an upsell, they were roughly the same price). He also offered a mask treatment for $10 and I wound up picking up a case and anti-fog spray as well. He did suggest fins but wasn't pushy at all when I said I'd save those for another day. I was so impressed with the level of knowledge, attentiveness, and customer service at Lost Winds. Eric thanked me repeatedly for the support and even suggested a nearby beach where I could try out my new gear. I went directly there for an awesome snorkeling experience with zero fogging, amazing clarity, and easy breathing. I ended up with the Cressi ZS1 Mask and a Riffe Stable Snorkel. Maybe I'll get into some real diving next and if I do I'll be back for more gear. If you want to be sure you're getting the best customer experience and expertise, I'd say this place was more than worth the drive for me. read more

It's amazing having this dove shop in my old hometown that also ships to hawaii in under 5 days consistently, and i get to support local. Great guys, great operation. $50 fill cards which is unheard of these days. And you get a really full fill. Eric helped me do a warranty exchange on some fins that I didn't even buy there. Made it easy. Mike and company at the Dana Point location are great as well. Had four tanks VIP'd there. Its so nice to be able to go explore this shop and know that they have in stock or can order anything that is needed. My Friend Blake and I did a last min trip to Mexico to dive and showed up at 6:30 the night before our flight to get extra gear and a travel bag for our trip. WOW. Where do I begin, the story starts with me being a free diver and living in Hawaii. I started last year and wanted to upgrade to DiveR fins in carbon fiber for more performance in the water and also my gateway into spearfishing. These guys have received multiple phone calls and text messages from me and every single staff member that has answered the phone has been excellent. I never leave reviews on anything simply because I forget quickly about a good experience however, I had to leave this shop a review due to the phenomenal service they have provided me while also wanting to help support this kind of customer service. I could have gone to a local shop here in Hawaii which there are plenty to choose from but every time I tried to go to a different shop I was greeted with rude and unprofessional attitudes and personalities on top of getting robbed with their high mark ups and then beg you to support them. Long story short The Lost Winds shop has helped me every step of the way and they gave me the best price and deals every time, I am truly jealous I don't have them around but at least they ship for free! Great experience! Eric the owner returned my missed call from the 4th of July holiday. I figured they must have been closed that day but I was pleasantly surprised by a return call from them. Although I have had some experience in the ocean, I would be considered new to free-diving as a sport and hobby. Eric assured me that upon my visit that I would be properly fitted with the best gear to fit my budget and needs. Nate courteously attended to my questions upon arrival to the shop. He went over all that they had to offer and was super knowledgable about all the equipment I was interested in.
