I started having problems with my laptop network card and it quickly grew into a problem that couldn't be ignored. Several calls to the Asus customer service didn't resolve things, nor did my own attempts at fixing it, including reinstallation and upgrades, etc. Asus indicated that the laptop was under warranty, but a day later backpedaled and informed me that it would be at my expense and they couldn't quote without seeing it but could estimate $500. Instead I took my laptop to CTA and it was fixed in about a day. I left it there over the weekend to make sure it was in fact stable, picked it up, and it has been as good as new for 4 days now - without the cost. I hope I don't need this service again, but if and when I do, I will 100% be using CTA. read more

Jeff was pretty good in cleaning and upgrading both my iMac (2009) and my boyfriend's Acer laptop. We were expecting everything to cost more than $500 but turned out much less than expected. This was back on Feb 11, 2019 and now, my boyfriend came back to have his laptop checked. Hope to get it on Monday. read more

This had to be the most unprofessional company and customer service I ever had to deal with. We dropped off my laptop + my wife's laptop to get fixed. The main guy @ Hoboken Tech never gave us any updates. We had to try calling chasing for any news for weeks. He said would have it fixed by a certain time and call us with an update that never happened and then never respond to our calls or when he did days later would come up with some nonsense excuse. To the point, we had to buy a different laptop for work because couldn't wait anymore. It got to the point that he stopped answering the phone completely, kept ignoring our calls for +1 month. I finally had to take off work to go there today to pick it up or try to talk to the guy because he wouldn't answer the phone. 2 months later, the laptop wasn't still fixed (1 was, and the other wasn't). At this point, I just wanted my laptops back. He had the nerve to say "the laptop was still open, that he would close and return it. That it would have been another 15 minutes"... Unbelievable. I finally get home and notice the screws under the laptop case are missing, so the bottom is loose. I'll just order screws or take them somewhere else. I highly suggest to not stress yourself and take your business somewhere else. read more

I am so glad I found this place. I had 2 hard drives that couldn't be read on my computer , they were old, and I was saddened by the possibility of not retrieving some old photos saved on there . Jeff brought them back to life , and to top it off he is such a nice guy. Truly a master of his craft! Very impressed ! He is my go-to guy for any computer issues going forward. A+ read more

Hoboken Tech Solutions has had my laptop since October 2020. I have stopped by the shop several times to ask about the status of the repair and am always told "it will be ready in two days" THIS IS NOW ALMOST 4 MONTHS AGO. I just want my computer back! Trying to contact this shop by phone is impossible as all calls go to voicemail and, guess what, the voice mailbox is full! If you can't repair my computer, fine, just return it to me so that I can get it repaired elsewhere. Ridiculous! read more

I can't begin to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Jeff and the staff at CTA. My MacBook decided to get a little crazy one night and drank a little too much wine. It didn't turn on, so I brought it to CTA since they were the only computer repair store offering free computer service if they couldn't fix the problem. Although it was a timely process, Jeff sent my computer to some expert Apple friends in Cali at no charge to me, who confirmed that my computer was long gone. A few months later I was in the process of selling the MacBook for parts, and returned to CTA to have my files pulled onto an external hardrive and have the MacBook hardrive wiped clean. Jeff recommended that I keep the hardrive as opposed to wiping it, offered some advice on pricing that I should expect selling the machine for parts, and even called some colleagues to see if they were interested in buying it. Upon payment (typically $85/hour), Jeff said that his team had decided I had been through enough hardship with my expensive loss, and said the service was on the house. I was shocked - as well as reminded that its frequently better to go with the small mom & pop shop over a corporate enterprise. You may wait a little longer than with a computer repair chain, but the service and care put into your situation is well worth the wait. Thank you Jeff! read more

This is a real find, as other computer repair services I've used here in town, were very pricey, rushed, and kind of curt, each time I have had them do any servicing on my computers. Have used CTA three or four times now, and each time, came away feeling that the quality of the work was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Jeff, the owner, makes home visits to repair computers, printers, and do basic wiring of all electronic equipment. He also does phone support. He is a certified Apple dealer, and gets discounts when ordering Apple laptops, and other Apple parts and products for you. This last detail is important, as my Apple laptop is approaching six years old, and Apple will no longer repair it. I will probably need a new one by January, and Jeff is the guy I will go to when that time comes, since he can get me a 20% discount on a new model, that is shipped directly to me from Apple. Living in Hoboken seems to be getting more and more expensive. This computer service is a major great value, and I won't go anywhere else in town. Note: They are actually now located at 401 Bloomfield, inside Cartridge World, on the corner of 4th. read more

I went to HTS because coffee spilled on my MacBook Air and it was no longer powering up. After the panic subsided I went to Apple and they said they would need to send it out and it would most likely cost about $750 to fix...funny thing is they never even opened up my machine... That's when I decided to try a local computer specialist, and I am so happy I found Jeff and his team at HTS. I'm also happy to report that I am writing this review on the same computer that by all accounts was a goner. Not only wereJeff and his team able to get the machine to work but all of my data is intact. As others have said, Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and will not give up until he's tried everything, and lucky for me he did. He's also extremely fair with his price. Thank you Jeff and team for reviving my laptop. read more

Rare honest service! After experiencing a crash on my PC I called several places in the area. Most places sounded annoyed that they had to answer the phone. One guy told me, without even looking at it, that I needed a new computer and he just happened to have some used ones for sale. CTA was friendly and very efficient. They told me immediately after doing a diagnostic what was wrong with my PC and how I could fix it myself. I followed their instructions and restored my PC without having to pay a dime. Later, when my screen needed to be replaced, I thought of them. They fixed my screen in a timely manner at a very reasonable price. I read more

They fixed my computer at what I believe was a reasonable price. My only issue is that it took longer than initially discussed. Glad they are around though, because I had no idea how to fix it. read more

Jeff went above the call of duty to help me, when I was in complete panic mode! His patience, time, and positive attitude make the customer service at CTA exceptional. Absolutely the one and only place to go for computer help. read more

This place is amazing. This is not a faceless organization, this is a man who listens, is patient, and knows how to fix things. You could not ask for better service or talent. He doesn't waste time or money; my wife's brought her computer there multiple times (for problems caused by its manufacture), and he's always diagnosed and fixed it quickly and reasonably. Could not recommend more highly. read more

What a pleasure to be able to totally trust a repair shop, especially with devices as important as our laptops. Jeff is knowledgeable, experienced and totally reliable. He has worked on two of my laptops and my iPhone and always does a great job. At a fair price. I have recommended him several times and will continue to do so. The ultimate guarantee: if he cant fix it, he wont charge you. And his shop hours (until 7pm) is a real convenience. read more

Came home from work to jump on my laptop only to find I've been mysteriously locked out. The password I've used for the past three years suddenly doesn't work, and resetting at account.live.com as suggested didn't work either. A lot of cursing and a bit of yelping later and I found Jeff a couple blocks away. He got me back on in just a few hours and everything is running smoothly. And he's a great guy to boot. I can't thank him enough! read more

Great guy. I brought in my touch screen PC when the LCD was coming off the back panel. Jeff called me the next day saying it was an easy fix and I could come pick it up. When I picked it up he explained the problem and some tips on how to prevent it, I walked out the door with no charge. He definitely saved me a hefty charge and headache if I would have shipped it to the manufacturer or brought it into a Staples and the like. read more

I visited CTA because my laptop had a virus and was causing it not to operate correctly. I found other ratings on this store on Yelp so called for an estimate. Jeff called me back promptly with all the information I requested. Because I needed my laptop fixed quickly for business I dropped it off Saturday and he was able to turn it around by that next Monday morning. I also had some older computer items that I needed assistance with. Jeff was able to transfer some files for me off of an older PC and put it onto my laptop so I could donate the PC as well as hookup an older printer to my current laptop. The rate was very reasonable for all items and I was happy with the work. CTA also carries additional items like ink cartridges and paper at a reasonable rate. All of my purchases I was able to pay with Paypal which made me even happier. I would highly recommend CTA to anyone in the area. read more

My MacBook Pro was in sad sad shape. Jeff took the time to make sure it got fixed correctly and well within my budget. He was great at keeping me informed of progress and fixed things outside the regular problem. He also fixed a friend's computer which was a battery issue. Her fix was simpler and he got it back to her in just a few days for much less than Apple wanted! I highly recommend CTA for getting me back to mac! read more

Let me start off by saying that while I'm avid Yelp user, I am not a frequent Yelp poster. In fact, this is the first review I've ever written and it's because of the great service I received and I think this place deserves more stars. Jeff was really courteous and helpful. My computer problem was taken care of quickly (within 24 hours) and he was upfront about the timing and the cost. I will definitely return to Jeff and recommend him to my friends with computer issues. read more

I recently took my CPU to CTA to get virus issues resolved. I explained to Jeff that I needed the PC back ASAP because I work from home as a writer/editor. He got right on the case and had the PC back to me in less than one business day. Service was quick, friendly and professional. A fair price was charged and I am one happy camper! I'm back in business because of the great work of the CTA team. Thanks, CTA! read more

I'm picky and feel like I don't often get the kind of service that deserves a rave review. Well, I can't believe how lucky I was to find Jeff and his team at CTA Hoboken when I was nearby visiting friends this month. My laptop screen had broken and I was desperate to get some work done. CTA fixed the screen in under a day, and get this...it was less than half of what Staples had quoted me! Not only that, but Jeff mentioned that he can do a lot of work remotely, so I can still rely on CTA even when I'm not local. I'm thrilled I found Jeff and CTA. He is the nicest guy and really knows his stuff. Oh, and I picked up a few ink cartridges since the prices were so reasonable. I highly recommend CTA! read more

Amazing awesome incredible my man jeff is a wizard !!! He does everything possible to fix everything!! No better place to go for your computer issues!! read more

After reading the positive reviews here I decided to give this small business a shot. Boy am I glad I did. I unfortunately cracked the screen on my laptop. Bummed at the unexpected expenditure I searched online to see how to replace myself. I saw part II of a video and decided I would go for it. I took a chance and bought a screen on my own and started to take apart my laptop. Fear of removing things from my motherboard made me stop. I took the laptop and part to CTA and asked if he could try to use the part I ordered. Normally some shops will refuse. Not here. Within 24 hours I had a call from CTA confirming it was the right part and telling me I could pick it up. They charged me for 1 hours worth of labor even though it took them slightly above 1 hour. The service was personal and quick and the pricing was more than fair. Best Buy would have charged about $500 plus the cost of the part. Use these guys if you have any hardware issues whatsoever. read more

I won't go here again. My laptop wouldn't get past start up screen, he got it to come back on and saved my data. It worked for a couple of weeks but much slower and the fan never stopped running--and it died again. I took it to a great place across the river and they fixed CTA's mistakes, I got it back in a day and it was half the price. I won't go to CTA again read more

I brought my computer here, it was completely dead and he not only managed to repair it, he didn't charge me as if was fairly simple and then showed me how to fix it should the problem come back. Will definitely come back read more

Excellent local business with great customer service and very reasonable rates. I was very pleased to meet Jeff and his assistant Bonnie. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. My laptop had a fan that sounded like a lawnmower every time I turned on my computer. He quoted a very reasonable price, and the final total was actually slightly lower. He seems very knowledgeable and runs a great business. Will definitely be back for all my computer needs. Thanks! read more

Can't say it enough. Jeff is the best computer tech anywhere in the area. Spilled coffee on my 09 Macbook and Jeff found compatible motherboard, keyboard cover, etc. and fixed at virtually cost. He even fixed the DVD drive which was broken and replaced the bottom cover with new one. read more

Jeff makes maintaining the computer & data a pleasure. He has been the savior on more than a few occasions & has stretched the life of my desktop. It is so nice to deal with a kind human rather than holding on the phone for hours on end with a big box company looking to sell you band-aids. Jeff's pricing is more than fair given his time dedication, reliability and expertise! read more

When years ago the hard drive of my desktop computer crashed, I called The Big Electronics Superstore. They charged me $125 to come over to my apartment and just DIAGNOSE the problem. It would have cost me another $200 to recover my data. That's when I turned to a local solution. CTA (now Hoboken Tech Solutions) didn't charge me a penny until they recovered my data, which they did within hours. And the cost was a fraction of what The Big Electronics Superstore would have charged. The next time I had an issue with my netbook I went straight to CTA. Jeff, the owner, listened patiently while I explained my problem. He researched the make and model of my netbook and discovered that my warranty partially covered the repair. He easily could have charged me the full price to repair my netbook, but he didn't. Not only did he see to it that my netbook was fixed, he added improvements such as additional memory at no extra cost. Recently, I suspected my laptop had a virus (yes, computer number 3!). Jeff connected remotely and sat with me for four hours, running software to clean my computer and look for any other issues. Jeff and Hoboken Tech Solutions can handle anything, from large company networking to home computer iTunes setup. He makes house calls or connects remotely. He offers storage solutions so that you never have to worry about losing your data or pictures. If you are looking to buy a new computer, Jeff will research the best brands for your needs. If your computer needs repairs, you can drop it off at his conveniently located Hoboken store and trust that it will be fixed quickly and accurately. Jeff will not stop looking for a solution to whatever problem you bring him. He treats each customer as a human being, not just a dollar sign, as so much big chains do. He knows his customers by name. There is a reason he has so many returning customers. Jeff keeps up with the latest technology. Hoboken Tech Solutions is one of the last great mom-and-pop businesses in Hoboken. Don't bother looking anywhere else. read more

Hoboken Tech is definitely the place to go for all your computer needs. Jeff is highly knowledgeable, honest, hard-working, affordable and kind. No problem is too small, and he is relentless is trying to meet your needs. I am writing this review on a computer that I thought I had lost forever. Two days ago, the screen on this MacBook pixelated and went dark. Alarming sounds issued forth. Of course this was all before business hours. Having worked with Jeff before, I was not as worried as I might have been. I left him a message, he called me back immediately, and within 20 minutes I was dropping my computer at his shop. He generated just enough "if this, then that" scenarios to let me know there was a solution and he would find it. Within 48 hours I had my computer back. Jeff really knows his stuff, and is honest and straightforward about pricing and prognosis. In fact, he has always charged me much less than I would have been willing to pay for such excellent service. I am a loyal customer and would not trust my computer to anyone else. read more

I dropped off a broken external hard drive and was told that I would get a call later that evening evening with my quote. I called at least a week later was told that something was "inconclusive," which I assume means it was forgotten about, apologized to and was told that I'll get a call that day or the next day. It is now a week later and I still have not heard back. read more

I spilled coffee on my macbook air. After going way above and beyond in trying to save it--which unfortunately didn't work because the video chip was dead--they transferred all of the files off my hard drive onto my new computer. Jeff charged nothing for the diagnostics and a tiny fraction of what a repair place in Manhattan would've charged to transfer the files. Lessons learned: 1) Never have a cup of coffee anywhere near your macbook 2) Always go straight to Jeff if you have a tech problem. read more

Great repair shop. For starters they don't charge to diagnose your computer, so it's awesome that they'll tell you what they think is needed without charging anything. They don't pressure you either to buy either. Solid service and they stand by their product. Personal service, not a big company atmosphere. They could be communicate just a little better as far as updates go but not enough to warrant a drop of 5 stars. Highly recommended. read more
