About 3 years ago my youngest daughter was doing homework on the couch and she fell asleep. I just walked into the living room and a bottle of water fell on the keyboard of the laptop and fried it, so I thought. I went ballistic.
Immediately I opened the bottom and patted down the motherboard, then I let it sit on the table overnight to let any moisture dry in places I could not reach. I tried to restart it and it did not, so I went out and bought another one for my daughter. I told the Apple rep what had happened and he immediately said without even opening the laptop "You are going to have to replace the motherboard or buy a new laptop." I said to her "Open the F@@@@@G laptop first, test it then make the call", minus F@@@@@G. Sorry about the language. I bought the new laptop grabbed the busted one and left. The next day I purchased an external hard drive and went to an authorized Apple store in Englewood, NJ to have the info on the busted laptop transferred. I also told him what had happened and he said exactly what the rep from the Apple store said. I went home and put the busted laptop in the closet.
Fast forward 2 years, while cleaning out the closet I found the laptop and I plugged it in and got life for a few seconds, then it died. Some one recommended Compuworld in West New York, NJ to me. I took it there explained what had happened. He said let me take a look at it. I left it with him for a few days, he then called me up and told me the connection to the keyboard was fried. He suggested if I decide to repair it to also consider some upgrades. So I had it repaired at a cost of $145
( inspect the computer, replace keyboard and add more memory and a couple of other things were done). Compuworld saved me over $2000 since I did not have to buy a new one for myself. The laptop is now about 6 years old and works like it just came out of the box.
A BIG THANK YOU TO COMPUWORLD IN WEST NEW YORK
