You either love this store or you hate it....I personally love it! They have a great selection of everything from beads, yarn, frames, home decor, silk flowers, t- shirts, paint supplies....etc... I read reviews of people complaining about customer service ....however the few times I have asked for help? Not only did I receive help, but the employee actually walked me all the way over to the product I was looking for each time. Now I think that is pretty good customer service if you ask me. Yes, the lines up front are usually long but...they are a popular store and if you want to shop here, it's the price you pay,...bottom line. Worst customer service ever! This lady associate that I asked for assistance in the spray paint section make me wait for 20 fuckin minutes and when she finally "remembers" about me asking for assistance, she's not even so helpful at all! She then took my paint in the front while me still browsing for some other stuff that I need for my project. And when Im finally in the register, the line is so damn slow coz the cashier person keeps on talking to customers like forever! So when its finally my turn at the register, he keeps on talking to me it made me forget my darn spray paint! WTF??? Joann's and Michaels dont do that, they give the paint to the customer so that they wont forget it when they are cashing out. Why the hell in this damn place doesnt give the paint to the customer? First it is so imposibble to steal any shit in there unless youre a professional shoplifter, coz cameras all over the place. Plus the register is right by the fucking door and there's no other way out except for that damn door! So why the fuck do they need to do that? Those two bigger stores dont do that shit! Now I have to go back in damn store coz I forgot the spray paint. And hell fuckin NO, Im not gonna go back to that Hobby Lobby shittu shop again! This was my first visit to any Hobby Lobby. I know they're in abundance in Utah and a few in Southern California so I was excited that there was finally one "closer" to me. It took about an hour to get there and it is a little ways off the freeway. I kept thinking did we miss the turn? But we found it. This place is HUGE. A little daunting when you just go there just to look. My mom and I thought it would be a lot better to visit with items in mind you want to purchase. But it was still fun to explore. Lots of houseware stuff and crafts. The scrapbook/card making section is small (but bigger then Michaels). And my gosh this store was clean. I think that's what made it so much butter then Michaels. The customer service was polite. Sales associates said hello to us and some offered to help us find anything. While it is a drive for me to get here I don't think I'll be going there all the time. I'll have to stick to my local Michaels (boo). But if I'm in need of a little drive and something time away I'll definitely go back. read more

Love this store! It's every crafters dream! I like the variety in items and how it's not just craft supplies. They also have great home decor and cute pieces of furniture. I am doing a carnival theme for my son's birthday and found lots of great supplies that fit with the theme. Store was well stocked and friendly cashier helped me. Seriously, I can never get a smile out of any of the associates that work here. I get looks and feel extremely unwelcome whenever I shop. I've never written an ill review, but I will express my frustration I experienced tonight. I stood in a line for nearly 40 minutes with my two year old just to buy ribbon I needed for my tree. Once I got to the register, I realized I left my wallet in the car and told the associate I would be right back. When I stepped back into the store, I gladly walked past 6 groups of customers and straight to the back of the line. After another 40 minutes went by, I was next up for my purchase. I asked the associate for my ribbon and his reply was "I didn't think you were coming back so someone took it thinking it was a go-back" I kindly asked him if he knew who took it or where I could find it and he shrugged his shoulders and didn't have anything to say. As the store announced that they were closing in 10 minutes, I went back to the ribbon/fabric department just to find that the ribbon I had was the last one of the design I needed. I went back to the associate, again asking for his assistance, except this time his manager said there was nothing they could do about it. I was frustrated! No one wanted to help me. read more

Love the store but the employees unfortunately really suck. I went in and bought some Christmas decorations and the cashier lady was more worried about going on her break than actually helping me with an issue i was having with my card. I called back later to let them know that they charged me double stacey's response was that it would go back on my card and i asked her when i will see the money back on my card she rudely responded saying i should call my bank to find out. No apology for the mistake no apology for the fact that i had to leave an item because of there mistake. They didn't have any resolution to my problem. I also asked 2 different employees if they had coat racks and both said no and proceeded to what they were doing and while i was wondering around i found about 5 coat racks. Honestly i will just stick to michaels or Joann, there employees are much more helpful and nicer!!! read more

Hobby Lobby.....you have dissapointed me. I heard such great things about you, but you have let me down. First and foremost, your employees are rude, immature, and obviously don't give a crap about the customers. My first visit, I was very lost (we'll get to that later) and at least 10 employees must have passed me in my seemingly endless search for the fabric department, not one asking me if I needed help, or even acknowleging that I was there. Once I found it, I unfortunatly overheard a very vulgar conversation from two female employees just standing there, talking. Not even pretending to work, just standing amoungst the fabric....talking. When I did approach an employee to ask if they sell ribbon by the yard, I was given a very sharp, snottly reply, like I was an idiot for even asking. Then when I got to the fabric counter to have my roll cut, one employee who was behind the counter chatting away with another, told me she could not help me, she was busy, I would have to wait for the the other girl. My next issue with you Hobby Lobby, is your store layout. There is stuff, everywhere, with no real rhyme or reason to it. Just tables of miscellaneous stuff blocking all the aisles. And no large signs directing you to each department, which would be very helpful since your employees are not. Sorry Hobby Lobby, but there are better craft stores in town with nicer employees and easier to navigate aisles. and I'll be keeping my business with them. read more

No star for this store. I had a terrible experience in frame shop at this store. While most of the staff at frame shop were helpful Jason (frame shop manager at this store) has no idea about framing. He suggested they can make floating frames for two rugs I took there. While I asked him more than 4 times as I was worried because of the weight of the rugs, he assured me they can do it and they have done it many times before. Both frames were out of shape when I brought them home... the rugs moved around between two glasses... anyway the main issue was when we called him, he did not take any responsibility for his mistakes. I approached the district manager (another Jason) and he said he knew the frames would not work and that was a mistake to place an oder like that. He mentioned he told them at Modesto store... but anyway while he admitted it was their mistake he did not even try to fix my problem. He promised Jason from Modesto store will call me (which never happened). I took my frames to Dublin store Michael Lemke was so kind to fix both of them. I do not recommend you to order any custom made farmes at Hobby Lobby store in Modesto. I believe someone who knows framing art has to be in charge of it not Jason who has no idea and I was unlucky to take his advice. More important he does not take responsibility for his mistakes. read more

Today 1/14/14 i went to hobby lobby for a credit adjustment on 3 items i purchased on 12/26/13! Realizing after i got home i was charged full price of $6.99 when the price should have been 50% off! I called the store where i purchased in stockton and they said no problem come back and they would correct the problem, which would have been a refund of 10.49 back to me! Since i live far from both stores modesto and stockton, i happen to be in modesto and took my item back to this store for the adjustment! I had receit with me and never bothered to read the return policy because i called the store an was advised to come in when i could! Today i did just that only a differen location the store in modesto! Well i ran into the most rudest non christian like manager who just out right refused to give me back the adjustments because he said i was over the 14 day teturn policy!!! Where this came from i dont know, i never heard anyone say i had 14 days to come in to get my adjustment, i wasnt returning the items they just charged me wrong and it was there computers that were not adjusted to give me sale price when i made the purchase, they were in the wrong! This nan would not budge, i did not get his name which i forgot because i was so upset to be treated this way as a customer! I left this store fuming stating i will nevet shop this store again and will warn everyone i know! I come home and decided to read the return policy on my receit and it clearly states they have a 90 day return policy!!! Now im even more mad at this un professional manager who really needs more customer service training! I still have no idea why he said 14 days which in fact it says it in black and white on my receit 90 days!! I totally agree with Julie S from Oakdale. I will be shopping back at Michaels in the future and i have lots of friends who are waiting for the grand opening of the concord store! Poor poor christian service! This place is always closed! Not open sundays and Every single "holiday" no matter how minor they are either closed or have ridiculously short hours I mean really Labor Day you need to close early? Their website never tells you they're closed or closing early. Drove clear across town to get something after it said was open only to come to a locked door. I was excited to finally get to Hobby Lobby after having foot surgery. I had been home bound for 7 weeks and was finally able to get out, but I needed the assistance of the motorized scooters that stores provide. We didn't bring my wheel chair because every store I had been in provided one. When we got to Hobby Lobby we found out that all they provide is a huge wheel chair, non motorized that I could not reach over the sides to push. I felt it was a very cheap way to barely satisfy the ADA, and certainly seemed to go against their charitable philosophy. My need for a motorized chair to shop is temporary, thank The Lord, but not everyone's is. I hope that the good people of Hobby Lobby soon realize how hard it is for disabled persons. read more

One night it fell off the wall by its own weight. The hanger on the back of the mirror did not hold up and broke onto the floor. Thankfully there is no damage to the wall. Worst costumer service ever, I been in costumer service for a very long time and this people need some training a few are extremely rude witch makes me not want to come back, first off I been here twice for a exchange not a return just to exchange an item for a different color, I was helped at a regular register not a return lane , all the employee did was swap my item lol she didn't scan or do anything the next time I came I had to wait behind this lady that was returning 30 items or so items and I was told to wait there I explain all I wanted was to exchange it for another color I was told no, when they did it on the past I don't understand. Also I had such a mean employee I wish I knew his name just the other day I grab some foam for a plant project the 40 percent paper was right in front of it I waited for 30 minutes to asked someone if that was correct but no one seem to be in sight , so I took it up to the register when he scan the prize it came out to original prize I asked nicely that there was a sign there and I thought it was on sale.. he seem bother by it and reply to me in a rude way he had no character he seem like he hated his job and the people around him. This place needs a lot of adjustments in employees and managers. Manager needs to be a bit more nice and at least pretend like she loves her job. read more

This store should have a valued place in Modesto. It is exactly why many people shop on line because of how little they value people who do crafts. There are no motorized carts for the handicapped. There are unpacked boxed items in all of the departments stacked up and dangerous to walk near let alone a fire danger. When I asked where the restrooms are to two different employees both said the other side of the store and of course they were not on the same side of the store. (They did the same thing to my husband too.) The lines are long and the checkers are Christmas rude in October. (I was buying two medium sized plastic boxes and some small craft items. The checker asked me if she could put the small items in the boxes and I said yes. She then charged me for a bag and used it for some items and put the other items in one box. The second box was not used. All of the items were pushed at my cart and the bag fell on the floor and my craft items spilled out. As I was picking them up there was no "I am sorry, or can I help you, or even I did not mean to throw your things on the floor". That is what I call Christmas rude.) **Note: In years past stores that are now out of business used to say "Save Your Receipt" which meant you just bought something that no one would want and we will not take it back without a receipt. I was excited to have a new store in Modesto -especially using the old Mervyn's building. I have been there several times, looking for beads for jewelry making.Very small selection of beads, and no Swarovsky crystals to be found. They do have some crystal stones, but if you want to make something nice, then start with nice. Lots of home decor-to the point of nausea. I have been to this store multiple times since they have open here in Modesto, and every time I am disappointed in some way. Usually it is due to the lack of professional and friendly employees. The company is a Christian based company but the employees act like little snobby brats. Most of them look like they hate their job, and when you ask for help they practically throw a fit or just completely ignore you. I had the worst experience a few weeks ago and I will NEVER go back or recommend this store to anyone again. Modesto has been fine for years without this store we can go without it now. This is a review about the Modesto California store. I was in the store on Friday June 7th and at closing . I left my sunglasses there in the bathroom. I called the next morning and spoke to ASHLEY (a full time employee) she asked me to describe the glasses. I described the glasses in full stating the name of the expensive designer brand and all, she stated that she had the glasses in her hand and she would put them in safe keeping for me to pick up. I explained to her that it would be sometime during the week and she said they would be in safe keeping not to worry. I was so happy thinking that I was blessed that they are this Religious based company and there honest. WELL THAT'S A CROCK!!! My husband gets to the store only to find out that they no longer have the glasses and show him a pair that are not mine. Then and there my husband calls me and puts the female assistant manager Jolisa who says that she will speak to ashlee and call me back. I ender up calling her back and she said that Ashley described the glasses to me and that I said there mine. THATS A LIE !! I described them to her , I even had someone that was sitting next to me hearing the whole conversation as t he phone was on speaker phone in my car while I was driving! I was told there is nothing they can do and the store manager Jerry would be in Monday and I would have to wait until then! Monday roles around and I receive a call wanting to know the exact time I spoke to her (Ashley ) and what the receipt time was . Jerry final say was that the glasses Ashley had were not mine and there is nothing he can do about it. I called corporate ony to be told by LESLIE that there is nothing they can do that the manager said those are not the glasses I have described. AFTER READING ALL THE POOR REVIEWS ABOUT THE CHAIN OF STORES THIS SITUATION DOES SURPRISE ME. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO CONSIDER WHERE YOU THE CONSUMER WANTS YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLAR SPENT.
