But at Americas 250th anniversary to get rid of their military appreciation, the constitution of the United States and pictures of our founding fathers are not as important as there paper party plates. So I stopped in to take advantage of their 40% off Easter / Spring decor sale on Tuesday evening. Several associates having a swell time chatting it up at the front entrance, the store seemed slow enough and there was plenty of time to socialize. No problem for me, I prefer to be autonomous, if I really really need something I would flush someone out to help me. I did hear two ladies several aisles over lamenting the lack of sales people on the floor. She was trying to get one more item in a specific color and couldn't reach the top shelf. My sour experience came from cashier Perla, who managed to conduct my transaction speaking only two sentences to me: "Do you want a bag?' and "The receipt is in the bag." No "Hello!" or "Did you find everything ok?' or "hey, how's it going?" Perla was too busy to even glance up from shoving my large and bulky items into one bag and thrusting it at me. Really not acceptable at all. Basic courtesy should be expected and is the very least a cashier can do. It is that last impression that sticks with a customer. read more

I have always had wonderful service at Hobby lobby. The staff are friendly and polite and always willing to help. I enjoy the calm, relaxing music. The store is clean. I hope that they will soon increase the amount of fabric available at the store since we have a few choices for fabric in the Chico area. I was having a great shopping experience at Hobby Lobby today until I overheard a conversation between a manager and an employee. I walked around the corner to see the name of the manager having the conversation (Her name was Liz). All I could hear while shopping for a birthday gift was the manager, Liz, talking bad about her employees to another employee on the salfloor. It also sounded like she was belittling her boss (the store manager i assume) and calling him names. I was absolutely appalled by the unprofessionalism that I overheard and walked across the street to Target. It was more expensive but worth the money. Going to be telling all my friends about the toxic work environment Liz creates for her employees and the language she uses in front of customers. I can't support a business that creates such a hostile work environment for their employees. I'll also be adding my review on other sites to make sure I get the word out. This place is terrible. Whichever manager is working today needs to be fired... there were 8 employees in the front and there were two registers open... the line had more then 10 people in it and the geniuses up front couldn't figure out they needed to open more registers, instead we all had to wait for over 10 minutes in line. I went to Hobby Lobby to get a picture frame and the staff member in the framing department was very rude! He acted like he didn't want to help me because I wasn't sure on the size of the poster I wanted to frame. There was a lot lot of broken frames around this department also. I ended up just leaving because the staff member wouldn't help me with what I was needing and I went to Michaels. The lady at Michaels measured the poster for me and helped me pick out a great frame. I was at Hobby Lobby around noon today. My purchases totaled $29.18. I gave the clerk $40.18. Meaning I would get $11 back. The clerk only gave me $1. I went back to get my correct change . They reviewed the tape snd said that they only owed me $10. When I called back this afternoon to let them know that the drawer would be over $1. I realize that $1 is not much money, but each $1 that is lost adds up. The person on the phone was extremely rude. She said if I really wanted my $1 to come in the store and she would give me $1 out of her wallet ! Bye Hobby Lobby. You don't seem very Christian to me ! read more

Sometimes I one of those people who will feel around a package to see if I can find the figure I'm looking for. Now, I understand sometimes, that hearing crinkling noises can be suspicious. I had many employees pass me by without a thought in the world, except one. I understand the employee that came over and asked me if everything's all right. However, what preceded afterward made me very angry at this employee (one of their older female associates) and their customer service. I had explained to the lady what I was doing. The response I got was, " as long as you're not opening them." And I responded back that I was never going to. Instead of accepting what I had just said or just casually walking by to peak back every once in a while, she proceeded to walk around to the end of the aisle and peek around the corner (in a way that was very obvious) and glare at me. This really pissed me off. So I decided instead, to walk to the front of the store to prove my point (and proceed to feel around the package). After I had left the aisle, I could see her walk over to where all the blind bags were, making sure that I had not opened any of them. I was able to tell the manager about what had just happened, and right as I was doing so, I saw that very same employee upfront staring at me. This employee needs to learn what customer service is all about. I should never have had to feel this way or have had to talk to the manager. Generally, in the past, I've had no issues with the store. I've also really enjoyed the products I have bought. However, this one experience has tarnished the reputation of the store for me. read more

Cute stuff to buy. Rude checker. Keeps making excuses for how long she is taking for returns. It doesn't help that she is the only one out of five checkers to handle returns. But if she would stop talking and making excuses for how long she is taking, it would be nice. You get to find out after standing in line at the nearby check stand first, that you can only make returns at the one check stand. Lastly, they put non sale items on the shelves with signs saying 40% off. Sometimes the only item on the shelf with the sale sign is an item that is not on sale. I had had a bad experience in this store and have not gone back until yesterday when I was looking for a specific color of fabric. There was a Christmas horse wall hanging on display in the fabric area, and I asked the lady in that department if there were any more of the panels for sale. She said no, but she would sell me that one for a really good price. Life has been hard lately and one of my escapes has been reading books and watching shows about horses. She has no idea what her kindness meant to me in that moment and the joy just looking at the horse scene is bringing to me right now. She was a blessing and will continue to be through the wall hanging! I was also greeted with a smile by several other employees. The atmosphere felt more welcoming and uplifting than it has in the past. A job can feel mundane, but your smiles and kindness can leave the store with the lives you touch. Thank you!!! read more

I have been to this Hobby Lobby four times now, I'm done giving them excuses. When you have that many rude employees, mispriced or not priced items, and improperly categorized items it's a management/owner issue. The last time I went in I was greeted at the door for what felt like a ridiculously long time, "welcome in" should not include a bunch of loud questions.The way the line is set up you have to weave around what is always too many people in a line for not Christmas shopping season. Making it impossible to "social distance"Just to get in. I was looking for a specific set of canisters that can be found on the H.L. website. However their website is behind the times so there is no way to have the item shipped to the store or to see if your local store has that specific thing in stock. So after searching the whole store several times, and being avoided by any employee who thought I might have a question. I found almost an identical SET. After waiting in line for well over 20 minutes, as both checkers inspected every item like they are TSA agents searching for exploding baby bottles (or perhaps purchase for themselves later), as well as watch them both (or should I say the only two) come across multiple items for several different customers that wouldn't scan, neither was able to fix the issues themselves - one had to send the customers husband to get another item to scan as the person she kept calling wouldn't respond. When I FINALLY get to the front of the line, the cashier asks me if I want the canister inside the canister(clearly appears to be a set, at least online it was). I tell her they are a set, she says they are not - who knows if she's correct as there was NO tag on the little one but considering their repeated pricing issues it could be anyone's guess. So I just say nope, I don't want any of it and to have a nice day ( I was not going to stand in line another 5 minutes waiting for someone to figure it out.... maybe) and walked away. The wide-eyed look of surprise she gave me was insane, you'd think I'd slapped her. There is something seriously wrong with the people who work in this store. Not stupid, just, not at all aware of what is going on around them. The line is ALWAYS way too long, the checkers move at a snail's pace. The older woman in front of me was visibly very uncomfortable with the lack of social distancing that was going on ( she was in the path of people trying to get in and past), the three teenage girls behind me kept bumping into my husband and myself. All of these things were direct results of H.L.'s bad check-out line policy's. Get it together H.L. These are not issues I have ever had at Micheals or Joanne's. The staff there was super rude! I was looking at a toy box and opened it to see the inside, as soon as I opened the box a staff member yelled at me, assumed I was trying to steal and tried to demand I give her the box back. I visited the Chico Hobby store a few weeks ago and it was really nice. I had at least 3 people ask me if I needed help and one nice gal gave me great help finding what I was looking for and gave me great advise in the art department. Whoever is giving training during this difficult time where many people are on edge, rightfully so, I would say good job as the main thing in a store with so much, is graceful help. I'm a bit baffled by all of these bad reviews. I've been a frequent shopper at hobby lobby and I have never encountered a rude employee. No offense to anyone but it's a no brainer to decipher which items are under their weekly promotional deals. If you're confused, it doesn't hurt to ask the employees before getting in line to find out your items aren't on sale and when you can come back to buy them at a more reasonable price. I love coming here when they have their 50% off deal on table top decor. I don't bother going there when they have any other promotional deals going on. I hope this helps the confusion on their weekly deals. read more

Done with Hobby Lobby. I can't take 2 steps out of my car when some guy pestering me about Recall Gavin Newsom. I said I wasn't interested. And the guy followed be trying to make his argument. Then he called me "faggot" as I walked away, because I was wearing a rainbow shirt. All I came here for was stain and paint brushes. So now I was very uncomfortable. Then I couldn't find it and no employees would help me and when I did find the paint brushes the line was too long. I said forget this, I'll go to Michael's. Well I go outside and this guy is back with his wife. And now they have a trump flag. So I try to ignore them and go to my car but they again followed me. I heard the woman say "my husband is sorry please reconsider" and "if I like the job the Governor has done". I said I don't care. And I got in my car and left. I've seen them there every week since. I received a call yesterday from hobby lobby. To come in for an interview if I was still interested. No name was given from her end. I called the store when I received the message. I was put on hold about three times and it seems no one really knew anything about my call. I told the last person Amber what had happened and I had to repeat what my message said. No one seemed to understand. Amber finally asked if I want to come in for an interview today It was already late in the day and I told her I had another interview shortly. She asked me where and I did not tell her the place I told her I could come in the next day for an interview. She said no because I might take that job and she did not want to be bothered with me cancelling. It is sad because I have so much retail and management skills I could have been an asset. I had a horrible experience in snobby lobby it was mine my girlfriends first time coming in to this place and my girlfriend had been begging for us to go. Upon arrival I was not even greeted walking in which wouldn't of been a big deal if what I'm about to tell you didn't happen. So anyway we split up to go explore stuff of our own interests and about 15 minutes later I found my girl friend and she was excited to show me some things she had found for her arts and craft box as was I so I reach over into my cart and grab the paint pen markers I had been talking about wanting for a week and the package of these pens was slightly ripped in one corner and had just looked slightly tampered with but nothing serious and upon showing her a man walked by and told me I need to leave those in the package I said to him that I wasn't taking them out he said you need to put those back in the cart and then pulled out his little name tag as if it was some badge and said now I'm going to have to ask you to leave and I said for what he then raised his voice and said for shoplifting it's against the law and it will not be tolerated I told him I didn't do anything and he said I saw you (referring to the package of paint pens) the both of you need to go or I'm going to call the police and he pulled out his cell phone I said to him are you serious dude she didn't even do anything. But not wanting to deal with the cops and their nonsense we walked towards the exit as he continued to publicly harrass me by calling me a thieving punk. I had a horrible experience in this store and the worker was a complete jerk who ruined my girlfriends day because she was so happy to finally go in that store and get stuff to add to her collection and I do not recommend anyone to go there and they should just go to Michaels and get what they need because they are caring helpful and aren't complete lames who don't profile people.
