I was in your store on Pillsbury Street a few days ago and needed to use the restroom unfortunately it was closed due to some kind of construction when I asked your associate if I could then use the associate restroom she snapped at me NO which surprised me because I was under the impression that it was a state law that you needed to provide a restroom to the public I could be mistaken and if I am that is fine the point is the associate did not need to speak to me in that manner and when I replied to her I guess you don't need my consumer money her response was I guess we don't is that the way your associates are trained to speak to people read more

I have been shopping here since the store opened. I have dealt with Steve (I Believe it is) who is the General Store Manager on a few a occasions. We like the 99er here in Chico...I have a budget plan of about $150 a week, for which I get 6 bags of groceries and goods.I especially like the electronics, tools and automotive items.The produce,milk,and bakery products are fresh and tasty.I got a kick out of the reviews I read and thought"I gotta check this place out!"And I'm glad I did... I love this place! I probably hit this store up 3 days a week. I can buy all kinds of produce at an awesome price. There is a lot to choose from throught the whole store. There is also name brand merchandise. If you are on a tight budget, this is the place to shop. Sometimes the lines can be long, but saving a bunch of money is well worth it. I was really pleased to see they brought this store back to Chico. I am sure that many families are eating much more affordably now. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should soon! read more

I shop here once or twice a week for yrs now. This was the most unpleasant experience I've had here. I was waiting in line while the woman in front of me had a lot of items. Because of social distancing, I waited until her last items were being rung up and she went up to the payment pad before I went to the counter and set my items down. I start by lining up 3 bottles of soda in a straight line across the belt and I noticed the cashier looking over and sighing. I just nodded cause I thought he was sighing at how busy it was before Christmas and how we all had a lot of things or something like that. There was some distance between her things and mine because she was just finishing up and I had placed my items at the end of the belt and stayed at the end, to keep 6ft apart. By the time I finished, all but one of her items, a gray bottle, was rung up. Moises, the cashier, asks if the grey bottle is hers and I say, "yeah, that's hers, everything else is mine." Then he starts the belt function and my items start moving up. "Well, you didn't put the pink stick down. If you don't put the pink stick down, it will cause all sorts of problems. Look see" and he point to my items which have just finished rolling up the belt to the scanner. "I could have rung these up." Then he rings up the gray bottle, and the lady in front of me starts paying. Then he turns to me and picks up the pink stick, waves it, and says "you put it down just like this, see? ". At this point, the only items on the belt are mine and he has to put the stick down right next to the scanner because none of her items are on the belt. There was literally nothing to divide because all her items were in the bagging area and she was paying for them. When I point this out, he says "it doesn't matter, I need it there to help me remember, or I will keeping ringing up your things, then I have to call a manager and it's a pain". I didn't even know what to say to this, would he forget he was done ringing her up during the time it took her to pay? And does 99 Cent store's POS system keep ringing things up during the entire payment process? That means the customer in front of me could be putting in their pin and I can make them pay for my things by sliding them over the scanner? The whole interaction was passive aggressive and illogical. I get it, he's not a mind reader. Maybe he was genuinely confused about the grey bottle, but it's strange that he held it up, then used the belt function to get my items closer while lecturing about the importance of the stick. And also, there was that look when I first placed my items down. But even if you took that "confusion" at face value, there was no need for the passive aggressiveness after he asked. And then the best part is, he's wearing his mask around his neck the whole time. Things have never been worse with COVID, there is a state wide indoor mask mandate, and the customer in front of me was an elderly lady, but he's just not bothering with a mask while he's waving a pink divider that cannot divide anything because only one customer's items were on the belt. read more

I was absolutely blown away the first time I went to this store. Their wide virety of produce for 98 cents was hard to believe at first until I actually saw it for myself. Their brands also seem to be top notch. This store along with the dollar store just across the parking lot from each other can provide a customer with many of there shopping needs. I never pay more that their bargain prises on so many of the items they carry. read more

I'm a bargain hunter, and love to shop - provided it's for food or tools - so .99 Cents Only is a GREAT place for me. I'm in there several times a week. I really like the vegetables and the fruit section - separates .99 Only from the other Dollar Stores. They have a GREAT refrigerated and frozen selection, as well. It's true that a lot of the best bargains cannot be counted on, as they are (I think) odd lots. A two-quart tub of yogurt for a dollar? I've only seen that once in two years - one-quart tubs for a dollar are more common, but not every week, for sure. Four pounds of cookie dough for the same price! Last week it was liter bottles of Perrier sparkling water flavored with orange and lemon for a dollar each! I often go in for one or two specific things, and then find half a dozen other things I can't pass up. It's like a treasure hunt every time I'm in there. The current staff are uniformly professional, friendly, and helpful. I've not met anyone creepy, yet. The store is clean and neat, although the aisle that's being stocked is a bit hard to navigate - I don't know how that could be avoided. Where can you find melons for a dollar each, a 10# bag of potatoes (sometimes) for a dollar, eggs at $2.49 for 18, and on an on.....give .99 Only a try! read more

Usually everyone at this store is very friendly courteous and attentive but today was totally different. I was at the register waiting to check out and when it was our time the cashier started scanning our items. He didn't say hello didn't look at us didn't acknowledge us in any way. At this point our groceries were stacking up on the counter because he didn't even ask if we wanted bags. So I asked him for some bags so that I could help him. Still not a word did this man say. Then I was swiping my card and it kept having an error code. So he just said......wipe off the black strip and do it again. At this point I'm like omg he speaks. So we left the store and I didn't have the receipt so I went back to get it. He told me that be had asked the man if we wanted it and he said the man said no. He said that he couldn't print me a. Ew one and I asked what he did with the other one and he basically shoved the trash can into my face and said I ripped it up. Well excuse me sir. Sorry to have bOthered you. I usually do not complain to management about employees becauseeveryone has off days but today I felt I had to. This cashier was so rude and not friendly at all. So I called the store and the same cashier answered and I asked if it was him and he said yes and are you calling about your re iept. I said no I'm calling to speak to management about your attitude and service or lack of. And you know what. This rude cashier was management t. You know what he proceeded to do. Hang up on me. Not once but three times. And he's a manager. I was so appalled by this fact that I still wonder what the Belk this store s problem is to have a manager like that. They need to fire him and find someone with personable skills because he has none. read more
