I don't expect others to cater to my own short comings, but I don't think the employees at this location understand certain social cues. I was with my mom who was kindly treating me to some new outfits and I had 4 employees all walk up to me one after the other asking me the same question when I kindly explained why I didn't want to try anything on. I became overwhelmed due to my social anxiety and just wanted to buy my stuff and leave. When I got home I noticed that a pair of Jean shorts I was about to try on had a decent sized neon yellow stain on the side. I'm assuming maybe it's from a security tag? So I went in a week later (today) to do an exchange and felt like I was treated like I stole them. I gladly provided my receipt but and when I went to look for something to exchange it felt like I was an annoyance or something. While I was grateful for not being bombarded like last time, the cashier was pretty rude. She just looked at me and expected me to know what she needed and I fumbled over my words because I didn't know what number she was talking about since all she did was say "T" and look at me for my response. I assumed they were going to scan the barcode. When they did the transaction at the end there was a refund amount and since it was on my moms card I didn't have it with me. I asked if it had to be the exact card and explained it was my moms card used, the cashier responded again with a tone that seemed like I was trying to steal and maybe get money on my own card or something? Which is funny because she was able to just send it through automatically to the card even though I didn't have it...why did I need to provide it? I don't know if this was her intention, but it really came off that way. I know what it's like to work in retail and it sucks...but I never would've treated someone that way when they had a receipt right when they walked in... I will most likely be shopping at a different location or online.

They are moving to a new location on East Ave at the end of June, so be sure to get the correct address. It is a smallish store, but VERY well organized and contains higher quality goods and clothes. The items for sale are clean and beautifully displayed. Large, clean dressing rooms are available. The staff are super friendly and will help you get whatever you need if you can't reach it or whatever. I can't wait to visit their new store. Highly recommended!

I stopped in the Chico store to exchange a skateboard that I purchased from the Redding store…read more Redding store sold me this board even though it looked as though it may have been used before. The deck looked a little scuffed but I did not mind until I realized one of the bearings were defective. I called the Chico store manager (Xavier) and explained the situation in great detail and he said to bring it in for an exchange. I drove from Stirling City to Zumiez in Chico only to have Xavier try to tell me the board had been used and he could not do the exchange. I explained to him that the Redding store manager sold me this board exactly as it is. He had a hard time believing that the Redding store Manager would sell a board in this condition and made it very clear by sub-texting and condescending tones that he did not believe me. After once again explaining to him what I already discussed over the phone, he decided to do the exchange. This is where he became rude and unfriendly, ESPECIALLY being the fact that he's the leader of this store. While my daughter was choosing another board I couldn't stop overhearing him continue to subtext to employees about the condition of the board and how he just could not believe Redding store manager would sell me a board in this condition. I grew irritated and confronted Xavier by saying, "I feel disrespected because I'm being called a liar". That statement must have offended him because he threatened to have me exchange it at another Zumiez store. This would have required me to drive at least another hour to another Zumiez store. I explained to him that he's the one being offensive with his subtle accusations and sub-texting. During the exchange he realized that I was telling the truth when he saw the employee's name on my receipt and the 10% "markdown" the GM from Redding store applied. Before this he was ADAMANT on how the Redding store, especially the GM Javier (who held a higher position than him), would never sell me a board in this condition. At this point he literally appeared dazed and confused. I finally asked if the exchange was complete so I could leave the store. He said yes and he still seemed to be in awe over the situation. On my way out I made it clear to him (for the 10th time) that I'm an honest person with integrity. In the end, the Store Manager Xavier didn't even offer me an apology. I will never come back to any Zumiez store. This Xavier fellow is a very rude, condescending, and frail man.
