I'm reading previous reviews, and I'm surprised to see that most complained about being bombarded with clothes left and right. The experience my daughter and I had was the total opposite. I brought my daughter in, and we were not greeted by anyone. Which is no big deal, since I figured other customers were being "helped", however; as my daughter was looking around I noticed how others were being greeted as they were walking in and being helped. My daughter was never asked if she needed help with anything. I guess because we were not "Caucasian" looking enough we were ignored. All the other stores we walked into in this mall we were greeted and told what sales were going on. We will never come into this store again! read more

Had a really weird experience at Buckle located in the Chico mall last weekend. I went in looking for a gift for my cousin and was browsing around. A female employee greeted me and asked if I was shopping for anything and I told her I was looking for a gift and if I had questions I would ask her. I understand being pushy is her job and to check in but I don't think I was left alone for 50 seconds for the next 10 min. Whenever I would even look at a shirt or pair of pants for longer than 10 seconds she would appear and ask me I wanted to purchase it. I finally found a way to politely suggest I wanted to shop alone and she left me alone. I'm not sure if she was bitter than I no longer wanted her suggestions but I had asked her later on if she could get me a shift located on one of the mannequins above the shelves as it was the last one . She said she would but needed to ring out a customer first. Keep in mind it was one customer and there was two people already behind the counter who began to help her. I was already annoyed but figured maybe I didn't understand she needed the points. I watched as the customer left and she stood behind the counter talking with her co-workers for the next twenty minutes. I didn't ask another sales employee for help because they were busy helping other customers. After waiting twenty min for her to help me I left the store and before I completely exited the store she yelled out from behind the counter "Have a good one" in a snarky tone then laughed with her co-worker. The Buckle, located in the Chico Mall has hip fashion items for men & women! This is a good place to go for decent quality casual and business casual clothes. I like a lot of their shirts that are rich colors, unique designs and different from the usual threads. The clothes I've bought are of average price ranges and good quality. I will say some of the shirts w/lace insets, sequins or florals are a bit expensive at $50+ each. They carry Rock & Revival jeans, some of which are too embellished for my taste, but are at a reasonable price level and hold up well in the wash. Along the wall was a large selection of different cuts & sizes. There is a large rack of accessories near the cash registers, some of which are marked down substantially. The store was a bit unorganized with clothes on the wrong racks, sizes here there are everywhere and some of the articles weren't tagged or priced. I inquired the price and a clerk went to find out, but never could figure it out and just made up a price from there. The staff here is very nice, mostly helpful and will bring you different sizes while you're in the fitting rooms. The cashier gave me a punch card for dollars off a purchase when you reach a certain amount spent. There is a location in Walnut Creek. read more

I bought 2 pair of slacks for work. The seam on both pairs of pants on the backside are splitting on both pairs and the front pocket is fraying. I wear a size 6 so I don't think it is a problem with too tight of pants since they are for working. I bought 2 pairs from American eagle at the same time and they are in perfect shape. The clerks were very helpful and nice but for the price I would have thought they would have been made better. That is why I bought them there. I now have 2 pair of pants that I paid 100 dollars for that I can't wear. Very disappointed in craftsmanship. read more

As for all of these other reviews, you should understand a little bit about Buckle before you shop there. They definitely have a shopping culture of their own at Buckles. And if it's your first time and you don't like the experience then let it go. It's not for everyone. The employees here work off commission and are basically stylists. If you aren't interested in being "bombarded" as you say just politely tell them you are just looking and want to shop alone; I've even done that a time or two. But they will definitely help you put an outfit together or suggest stuff to you. Even go ahead and tell them what you do and don't like so that whenever you go back, they'll have a feel for your style. The employees here are super helpful, kind, friendly. They work with you on returns as long as you don't take advantage of it. If you want something in store but they don't have it in your size, they'll order it to the store for you for free. Most know me by name and I can't say that for anywhere else I shop. And yes the pants are expensive! But a lot of their stuff is. They do have good steals too but if you want a good pair of long lasting jeans, this is your place. Also keep in mind that they have things at both ends of the price spectrum; it's all about what you're looking for! Buckle is definitely not your normal jcpenny or kohls experience (and I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with those places, I shop there as well!) :) read more

The Buckle is another version of Pac Sun and Zumiez. They have clothing brands from Vans, Billabong, Dc Shoes, Havaianas, Hurley, O'Neill for women and for men's they have Element, Fox, Reef, Quicksilver, etc. just to name a few. The prices are within the $20-or more limit. Plus, you won't be surprised to see almost every women in Chico to wear the same ensemble if you're into that skater-look. There aren't many "good" finds on their clearance/sales rack either. Most items are still priced a little high for my taste nor am I happy if I spent $30 for a plain white shirt. I've only bought a jacket here for winter, because that's what they're known for. I never really bought anything else since I can easily find it at other chain-like stores such as Pac Sun, Zumiez, Tilly's, or another version of the store. read more

I don't usually shop at buckle but I do I get swarmed by sales associates asking what size pants/shirts I wear, asking if I've seen the new trend in jeans...hello I just walked through the door! They have a good selection of clothing. My girlfriend likes their jean selection. A little pricey, but I guess its reflective of the brands they carry. Staff can be really helpful ( kind of too persistent when we told them we were just looking) or sometime they are a bit on the snobby side. I work in sales.. commissioned sales... I know what it is like to have your paycheck depend on your sales. But the sales culture at buckle is horrible!!! They are the pushiest, rudest, salespeople i have ever met. They were throwing stuff over my dressing room door. Placing shoes under my door. I left without buying anything at all. Wow!!! First time at this location and from the moment we walked in (my son and I), I felt like we were surrounded by friends. Sure, the store associates are there to sell... but it's the way they treat you which impressed me most. First, we were greeted the second we walked in, but it wasn't the typical "hello, can we help you find anything". It was more like "Hey guys! How are y'all doin'?", accompanied by a bright smile from Cassidy. She quickly introduced herself to us and offered a sincere handshake. As we started to browse, she returned to ask if there was anything we had in mind and walked us around. About 10 minutes later, she revisited us to see if we've tried their denim products... I comically shut her down, mainly because it's the middle of summer and we're all about wearing shorts this time of year. She was a good sport and we continued to browse. From a distance I heard her quietly mention our names to another coworker and I pretended not to notice. A few minutes later she returned, this time to say goodbye as her shift was over. Cassidy politely introduced us to her manager Tyler, the same coworker she was talking to earlier. We liked her, bummer she had to go but Tyler instantly built rapport with us. Again, his goal was to sell... but he wasn't pushy, he simply was suggestive and accommodating. At this point it was already a long day, we were parched and left to grab something cold to drink. When we came back a half hour later, not only did he remember our names, he introduced to another friendly store manager... the same way you would introduce a mutual friend. The point of this story is that I had zero intentions of buying anything, yet I walked out purchasing five items, lol. Buckle is an awesome store that you can designer jeans at for a quality price. I recently got a new pair of Dr. Martin's and they are hands down the most comfortable shoes I have gotten in recent years. This store is really good they got a lot of stuff you want but it's really like unfriendly if you don't seem to fit "profile" also meaning white and rich looking and it's like what the hell I've gone in there for like 30 minutes and got no help from the people who worked there like why? I'm sure the clothes here are stylish and of high quality but I will never step foot in here again. I was there less than ten seconds before I was being bombarded by some lady guessing my size and bringing me $150 jeans to try on. If I wanted to be assaulted by a sales pitch and an up sale I'd go to a used car lot. Maybe that technique works on women but a man is not interested in getting an in your face, pressure to buy, sales person making random guesses about what I'd want to wear. I've been shopping at buckle for year. I've spent thousands of dollars there and I've never had a problem until now. I buy some stuff online and guess what it doesn't always fit so sometimes I need to return some things. Well I had my mother go return some miss me's and some other jeans today and the manager said they couldn't be returned because they had been warn and didn't have the tag. Ok, the miss me's I wore around the house when I first got them and that's it. But, the other jeans I never wore, ever. This is 200 dollars I can't get back! I've never had a problem returning anything! I mean I bought this stuff a month ago! So now I have to pay to ship it back! So much for for treating loyal customers right. I will keep to Macy's where they treat you right. Just make sure you really really like what you buy because you might be stuck with it if you take it home and wear it around the house or to work for a day. read more

Is it just me or is it Buckle's policy not to greet people of a minority or who don't look like the type of a regular Buckle shopper? Many times I see the employees greet just the "white" customers, but hardly any one else. I've been there several times and never get a greeting or any help until I carry at least a few items, and then maybe one employee will come up to assist. read more
