False advertising! I went to Hobby Lobby today at the Sun Lakes Village Shopping Center in Banning, CA, Store# 729 to purchase Krylon spray paint. There was a sign in the store next to the paints that said 'ALL Krylon spray paints $5.99'. When I got to the register, I was charged $8.99. The store associate that checked me out said that was the price and wouldn't honor the sale price. Pretty disappointed in Hobby Lobby. I got home and looked over my receipt and noticed something that said jewelry making. I did not buy any jewelry making supplies. Turns out that code does not give you the 50% discount. This review is mostly for the staff. The store itself is clean and pretty well stocked most of the time. When I lived in Rancho I went to that location all the time, even if I didn't need anything and it being Hobby Lobby I always bought something. Now that this location is the closest one to me, I begrudgingly come here. I stopped in this afternoon because I was looking for a specific stool (this location carries little to almost no furniture, I would recommend Redlands if you're looking for that) which they did not have. While I was wandering around looking for it I almost got hit by the door to the stockroom. Since it was a rare occasion that I was alone and could shop at my leisure, I was in a pretty good mood. So when The door swung open I smiled (behind My mask, but my eyes crinkled so you knew I was smiling!) at the grumpy manager that was coming through the door and said "Oh, excuse me" in a upbeat voice. He narrowed his eyes at me and grunted, yes grunted at me and kept walking. I tried to see his name, but I couldn't get it. He was taller with thick brown hair and glasses. Being a manager I expect a higher lever of friendliness and customer service. I am thinking that this guy needs to go work somewhere where having people skills is not a must. The times that I have been to this location I have noticed that the customers are usually friendly and pleasant, because lets face it most of them are usually there because they want to be not because they have to be so there is really no reason to be that miserable and rude while working. That being said, don't ruin my shopping trip because you don't want to be there and are unhappy with your life and the choices you've made. After my encounter with Mr. Sunshine I shook it off and decided I wanted to get one of those little helium tanks to use for Valentine's Day and couldn't find them to save my life! A female employee was in an aisle and I asked her where I could I could find them. She looked at me with a smirk and dripping with sarcasm said "Uh, look up". The tanks were on top of the aisle where they normally store the back stock items so I don't usually look up there for things. Most stores put merchandise in a visible location that is easily accessible, you know, so they can sell it and make money! I tried to laugh it off and proceeded to try and get one down while she stood by and watched the struggle. And let me tell ya', me being all of 5'03" there was definitely a struggle. finally super annoyed she said "Ugh, here let me just get it". I don't know about you, but I am not particularly fond of being made to feel stupid by an employee while shopping so hearing that I was over it. I told her not to worry about it and I left in a pretty nasty mood. Hey, maybe that means I can work here now! I wish I could say that my encounter with rude employees was isolated to this one trip, but this is how they have been every time I've come in. Shame on you for allowing such nasty people to work at this location and ruin people's time. This was the final straw, and while it is not that close to my house I will be driving out to the Redlands location from now on. read more

Here are my specific star ratings: Variety of products - 5 stars. You'll probably find what you're looking for as the assortment of items is vast and covers most hobbies. Shelves are fully stocked and varied. They've got it all. Cleanliness - 5 stars. Wide aisles, clean floors, everything in its place and neat. Pricing - 3 stars. There are lots of 40% off signs throughout the store but even with the numerous discounts the prices are standard retail as they start high. Only seasonal close-outs offer a good price bargain. Quality - 5 stars. Most offerings appear to be from brand name manufactures or of good quality. This is not a Dollar Store so expect few junk items. Checkout - 1 star, 2 if store is not busy (rare). This store seems to be stuck in the 80's. No scanners. Most items need to be hand entered into the register. The clerk looks up most items from a price list despite a labeled price tag on the items. They are not in a hurry. They wrap up all glass items in paper, which seems nice, but adds to the checkout time - which is already extremely lengthily. This is a slow process. There are always long checkout lines. No one is in a rush. When a new register opens, there is an unorganized rush of customers aiming to be first in line. This should be better organized by management. During the long lines, checkouts may be closed when the clerk takes a break or whatever, and no replacement is put in place. Annoying. Some discounts require the customer to use a cell phone and lug through their app to claim the discount. Hate that. Attention Hobby Lobby - Please, just discount the items in the store, customers are not checkout clerks! Service - 2 stars. You're mostly on your own shopping as there is little help from staff on the floor. Long, slow checkout lines. Health/Safety - 1 star. If you're concerned about the current pandemic, this may be a place to avoid. Although there is a small sign posted at the entrance stating to "Wear a mask", which is currently a state mandate, about 60% of shoppers were mask-less. No one seems to care. Employees did appear to be in compliance for the most part. This is a "Christian" based company and there is music piped throughout the store that reminds me of a funeral. Overall rating - 3 stars. So we went to the store today to see if we can find some frames for some pictures we ordered and want to put together for one our daughter's Christmas present. We did find some frames that were $6.99 and they were 50% off. Wendy in the framing department was awesome and took her time helping us with options and even bringing out frames to what we were trying to accomplish. She is awesome and very good at her job. Once we found the frames (11 of them) we went up to the counter and they honored the 50% off like advertised so we wanted to place an order for more frames to take advantage of the deal and that's when they said NO. Why can't we, the lady said that we weren't even supposed to get the 50% off in the first place and that the lady at the register made a mistake. So after going back and forth they didn't want to honor the advertised price even after we just bought 11 frames at the half price promotion. The lady I can't remember her name was rude and seemed bothered because all we wanted is to order more frames at the same price you already gave us the price for 11 so why not honor it for the other 23 that we need. This was horrible. At the end of the day we called and went to the other Hobby Lobby in Redlands and they honored the price and we bought more frames from that store. 3 stars only because Wendy in the framing department was awesome! read more

This store usually has items in stock and the staff has been friendly/helpful when I visit. They have disinfectant spray and paper towels for your cart and I noticed all employees had a mask on. I took a diploma in to be re-framed because the glass broke in the original. I took nearly a week to complete the work (not that big a deal), but when we brought in home the diploma itself came off of the matting and slipped down inside the frame. We had to return it the store to have them fix it. The price was nearly $170.00 and the repair took another two days. I am happy for them that they are busy, but they need to be a bit more conscientious about the work they do so as not to inconvenience their customers. read more

As SOON as my 60 year old mother and I stepped into the door at 9:35, we were almost rejected because I was not over the age of 60 and my mother looks young as well (behind the mask). The cashier felt the need to stop and make us uncomfortable while other people who were clearly not 60 walked around us and continued to check out. He does not call out that he is open. No light goes on. But he is absolutely ringing someone up. So i leave the long line that i am in, thinking i have scored. When i approach the checkstand, the man tells me he is not open, he is only ringing up an employee.!!!!!!!!!!!! I visited this location to get my holiday decor fix and boy did they have me covered! Haha! They have a 50% off sale going on right now on all Christmas items and they are FULLY stocked. As soon as you walk in everything is so well organized and it's relatively easy to find what you're looking for. I have to say that I wasn't greeted when walking in but I think I'll live. Every aisle was clean and everything was easily accessible. Checkout was a breeze and Anika was so sweet and helpful! As far as just Hobby Lobby's go it's fine, pretty much like any Hobby Lobby, you been to one you've been to them all but what makes this location especially awful is the lump of a person they have managing the store. She is rude as hell and will follow you around the store, I guess she thinks she's slick or something but she isn't. There was no reason for this lady to be following me around the store acting like I'm about to steal some colored pencils or something. Last time I was there when we were leaving she even came outside and started taking pictures of our car and license plate!! Not sure what exactly she is hoping to accomplish with pics of us driving away.. lol it's a rental anyway so ha! Hobby Lobby is a trap, but I love it. They never seem to let me down when it comes to decor. Going in there makes me want to redecorate my house every week. They recently put up the Christmas decor and I am just in love with it. If I could have 10 Christmas trees I would, thats how much holiday spirit they give me. The woman in the fabric section were very helpful, I had a my baby with me and needed ALOT of fabric they helped me carry it to the cutting area and help me pick out some stuff that I needed to match! When i first arrived in the store after 4pm today... i was greeted...and then I began to walk thru the isles...immediately a young male employee began to follow me as I went thru the Christmas discounted stuff.. He even took a photo of me--because i heard his iphone do that. Im not sure why? If it was he thought I was going to do something ..because I am hispanic older woman, or what?
