As a member of a local quilt guild with about 140 members, I will not be shopping at Cotton Gin Fabric again. A couple of our guild members recently visited the store and were treated in a rude and disrespectful manner. Their experience has since been shared with the rest of our guild, and it left a very negative impression. I personally shopped there in November and also experienced the owner being quite rude. At the time I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and assumed it might have just been a bad day. After hearing how other members of our guild were treated, it's clear that the poor customer service was not an isolated incident. Quilters want to support local quilt shops, but courtesy and respect toward customers should be expected. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here, and many of our members will be taking their business elsewhere. read more

This is a cute shop. They recently moved locations, they are now up by the Albertsons in the little indoor shopping mall. (It's before the old 24 hour fitness location.) A nice selection of fabrics, but prepare to pay a bit more than you would have at JoAnns. Nice staff! read more

My quilty friends and I visited in September on our way to a retreat. Such a fun store! Clean, bright, lots of great fabric and kits. The ladies there were helpful and lovely! I will be back! read more

Recently visited on Spring Fling Quilt run. Bright and clean. Many quilts displayed and quality fabrics. Staff was friendly even though it was time to close. Nice to know they have classes. A bit of a drive 25 miles. But worth it, I have a younger friend to drive. read more

I was so excited when I found the cutest little fabric store close to work. I bought a couple little sewing projects I couldn't wait to create. I thought the kits were super neat, because they came with almost all the supplies except the thread (I also bought the 100% cotton thread) Anything that you sew that will be used in the microwave has to be 100% cotton FYI . Well to today was the day! I spent about an hour making the potato bag ( beginner at sewing) I was so excited to try it that I immediately put a potato in and popped It in the microwave . I followed the instructions that were attached to the little kit that I bought except instead of 8-10 minutes I only did 3 because 8-10 seemed like a lot. I'm so glad that I stayed in the kitchen while the potato bag was in the microwave. I smelt something burning, I looked over and the microwave was smoking. I quickly opened the microwave to find the potato bag on fire! I quickly threw water on it, and put out the fire thank god. I called the store to tell them what had happened (spoke with the owner, forgot her name). The owner proceeded to tell me this had never happened before, and she was almost insinuating that I had done something wrong. I explained to her I used everything in her kit, I also bought 100% cotton thread that her employee helped me find! She then asked me to send her pictures, she said maybe it was the previous owners kits, and wanted to verify the fabric was 100% cotton. I then called back to verify she got the pictures. The owner said she would be happy to give me a refund, I said that would be great, but told her the reason for my call was to keep this from happening to someone else. The owner was very unapologetic that this had happened to me, and just wanted to give me my money back and move on. Like I said earlier her attitude was almost like I was making this up. So a couple hours later the owner called back to tell me she would gladly refund me if I had my receipt. I explained I don't have my receipt but I have the original packaging. (She also looked up my account and said it showed I was in last week but it didn't save my transaction) I hadn't planned on returning anything so I didn't save it. She then told me she was unable to refund me because I had no receipt. I told her this was never about getting a refund in the 1st place I just wanted her to know what happened, and at least be a little concern that her companies potato bag started a fire in my home. She told me she went above and beyond with her customer service to try and help me! I don't know how she thinks she had great customer service lol. I got no refund , and no apology for her terrible product! Unfortunately she lost a good customer! read more

Customer service was good. They were very friendly and made me feel welcome.. but the price did not. Price was too high . I got a green plain color cotton fabric..Found the exact same fabric at Walmart 3X cheaper . It looks like they have a lot of nice fabric but when I tried to get 2 fabrics to make a baby blanket.. the selection was not enough to find something that matched nicely together. They offer classes for sowing which is nice option for those that need it. read more

The new owner Laura has added a very friendly and knowledgeable staff to her store. They have a wide variety of fabrics, notions, supplies and classes available! Two of my favorite fabric lines that are available are Tula Pink and Steampunk. They are my first choice for quilt stores. read more

I like that the staff is quick at cutting & ringing up purchases, but leaves one free to shop without interference. If you ask for help they are quick to make suggestions. Lots of fat quarters, tons of batiks, and quilt fabrics, with a smattering of stretch denims, & t-shirt knits. SO much color-these buyers really work at having a color selection for all tastes. read more

I'm happy to say that the Cotton Gin is a great new quilt shop that I've been able to visit many times since it opened. The shop is set up very attractively and they always have a lot of new fabric that I love. Have also signed up my granddaughter for some of their classes in the summer. Good quality cotton fabric with a range of choices in color/print. Competitive prices. Also love the samples displayed as inspiration. Many other supplies including accu quilt. Love the girls working there as they are helpful and friendly and able to assist with sewing questions. Sale items are offered and much appreciated. Totally disappointed. Down visiting family in the area and excited to check out the store. Went after my toddler woke up from his nap. Arrived around 4:40 pm (close at 5) and the door was locked. Person behind the counter gloated that she had closed early. read more

A quilting friend told me about this new store. I was in the area and decided to visit. They have a beautiful selection of fabrics and nice assortment of notions. The staff greeted us and were very friendly. There is a nice large and bright room for classes. I was looking for fabric to make a pillowcase for a teenager and found the perfect pattern. read more

Such a great little store. Wonderful and helpful staff. This is way better than the chain store we have here in town. I was in the middle of a project and wasn't looking forward to going to the fabric store and spending a couple of hours waiting for the staff to decide to help you. Thankfully, my husband told me that he had seen this new fabric place downtown. I went and they had exactly what I needed and they were so helpful. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. I will definitely be going to the Cotton Gin from now on. read more
