Hiroki is a cute little Japanese cake and pastry cafe in the Wallingford neighborhood. It's a quaint spot with only a few seats, but isn't usually too busy. It would be a good spot to study in or a cute date spot. We ordered the strawberry shortcake and matcha tiramisu. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Perfectly light but not too sweet, with thick layers of fresh cream. The matcha tiramisu was just okay; it wasn't as creamy as I would've liked it and the matcha flavored tasted a bit off -- maybe not an optimal pairing with mascarpone cheese? We also ordered a chai latte, which came in a giant cup with very cute latte art. They also serve other pastries like scones, puddings, and cream puffs. I'll have to some of the other desserts and cake flavors another day. There is one single stall restroom that is very clean. There is a small parking lot outside with free parking.

The hubby was craving some Coffeeholic so I was tasked with finding dessert. I happened to stumbled upon Hiroki and I knew we had to check it out! Review Time: AMBIANCE/LOCATION: For parking, there's a small parking lot right next to the store. I would say there's like 6 or so parking spots available. The shop is small and quaint with a few tables to eat in the back. STAFF/SERVICE: The owner (I'm assuming) was working the register. She was nice and super helpful answering all my questions. FOOD: Green Tea Tiramisu - the owner said this was her most popular item and I can see why! I feel it could use smidget more matcha, but it was still light and tasty! Gateau Basque - you had me sold at butter cake! Out of the 3 cakes, my least favorite. But it was still delicious nonetheless. The other ones were just more flavorful. Sakura Cheesecake - Sooooo good! The raspberry puree + salted cherry blossom = chef's kiss. I loved this cake, but forewarning it IS a seasonal item! Honey Cheese Mango Pudding - I was really hoping to get the cheesecake form; however it was already sold out. The pudding was good, but definitely think I would have liked the cheesecake more. Orange Chocolate Chip Cookie - I can appreciate the subtle hint of orange throughout the cookie. Overall a good cookie, but nothing like "oh my gosh best cookie ever." RECOMMEND? Yes! I would definitely come back especially since they have seasonal items! The cakes were light and tasty and addicting. I couldn't put my fork down until i ate 3/4 of each cake haha

Cutest little japanese dessert shop. The matcha tiramisu had a spongecake layer instead of lady fingers and I really liked it. A very strong matcha flavor and super light and whipped cream. Super cozy inside with lots of seats.

Hiroki is located within a quaint little shack. There is parking close to the main entrance. The slices were tasty, just a bit underwhelming. I believe we ordered the mango, hojicha, and green tea cheese cake with two espresso shots. All tasty, just not as mind blowing as I would have expected. The espresso shots were a bit too bitter, I'd recommend them to make the grinds a bit courser for a more palatable taste.

Cute small little bakery/coffee shop with interesting pastry flavors! When I arrived at opening on a Sunday morning, the line was already almost out the door. Service is a little slow but friendly Came here for specifically for the green tea tiramisu and it did not disappoint, very creamy. The basque chocolate was also very creamy, thick, and chocolatey

I picked up matcha tiramisu and hojicha cheesecake for my husband's birthday and was pleasantly surprised! We especially liked the hojicha cheesecake - despite being a cheesecake, it was quite light and had a strong hojicha flavor! The perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness! The matcha tiramisu could have had a stronger matcha flavor, but was also light and delightful. The service was quite friendly as well! It's a small cafe that is hard to miss but definitely worth a visit!

I really wanted to love them, but these were the most expensive and mediocre cakes I've ever had. At $8 a slice, I was hoping for something mind-blowing. Instead, I got something meh overall. - Franzipane - almond cake w/ black plum: 1.5/5: dry dense crumb, sweet plum but no depth, and an interesting caramelized top: I'd pass on this one. - Honey cheese mango: 2/5: if only it tasted as good as it looked! It was like a custard with a fair amount of gelatin, with an even and creamy texture and very subtle flavors. - Green tea tiramisu: 3.5/5: the best of the bunch. I personally still prefer more sponge to my cake but the elements were executed very well: fluffy light moist cake topped by a mousse with a very light green tea flavor. Not too sweet. These cakes were aesthetic and high quality, they just weren't to my taste. I think a lover of mousse cakes would be in heaven. They have a fine parking lot out front with cafe-like tables and chairs in their small interior.

This was really a cute spot! The dessert I had was excellent and the tea was very tasty too. There's a few small tables in back to dine in and the servers were really kind.

I ordered a whole cake for my husband's birthday. We are a bit picky with cakes (we don't like icing) so I ordered this mango cheesecake. It was perfect. Good mango flavor and very light cheesecake underneath. It was delicious. The message cookie was a separate charge.

This was one of my stop for some cakes sampling and it definitely has one of my favorite cakes. The place was small but quaint and clean. The people there are super nice and knowledgeable The guy asked me if it was my first time here and then gave me a bunch of suggestions and then even gave me a free honey mang pudding cup to try for my birthday :) I got the 2 popular cakes there: - matcha tiramisu - mousse cake like texture, soft, flavors are distinct, not too sweet - gateau -- OMG, this was really good. It was nostalgic and tasted amazing. - honey mango pudding - kinda too soft but very mango-y The price is a little high for the size but I guess the quality does compensate for it. Overall, really good bakery

Best cheesecake I've ever had hands down. Everything was almost sold out when I got there. I wanted 2 Mango but they only had one left by the time I was next to order. Did I mention the line was around the corner. Sheesh. I originally waited a good 10 minutes before trying to wait in line but more people kept showing up. Fast forward, it was love at first bite. I can't wait to go back for more. And I want to bring people. They have to try this. Game changer.

3.5 stars. Dropped by 3PM on a Friday and picked up matcha tiramisu and hojicha cheesecake, priced at $8 a slice. The interior was clean and staff was considerate--for the person ahead of me, he offered to keep their to-go slice in the fridge while they enjoyed their drink. The slices were beautiful to look at but I think the price point is a bit high. The matcha tiramisu was fluffy in texture and moist but the matcha flavor was light. For the hojicha cheesecake, the hojicha flavor was strong but the flavor combination with the cream cheese wasn't one I personally enjoyed. It was also quite a thick texture, even for cheesecake. Both slices were a nice level of sweetness.

Wow! Hiroki's cakes are so aesthetic. There are not many businesses specializing in Asian cake. I like how they sell singular slices so you can try many different flavors. I got the tiramisu and matcha cakes. Both had the perfect cake and cream ratio and sweetness was balanced. Matcha was nice and earthy and the tiramisu was rich with balanced espresso cocoa notes. It's nice the business has a parking lot so you don't have to worry about street parking. Service was standard and quick. Just one star off for the price of cakes as it can add up quickly. Overall must visit if you're looking for Japanese- inspired cakes!

AMAZING! There's a real local-family business-vibe to this spot. I'm looking forward to trying more of the desserts.
