I went here the week it opened so I'm not sure if they were still working out the kinks but I was underwhelmed by the food. When I see that they have a picture of the food on the menu that's what I expect to get. So I was disappointed at how empty it was compared to the picture :/ I would go there again though!! Sometimes you can taste the passion & care an establishment puts into their food. Hiro Ramen is one of those places. The curry Ramen was full of flavor. The short ribs were well marinated & cooked. This place does a nice job and offers probably the most authentic ramen in town but their flavors are a bit lacking and watered down. The tonkatsu lacks a lot of the intense richness you look for and the shoyu is a bit overly salty. However they offer a nice selection of toppings and do a nice job satisfying that comforting ramen urge. read more

Ate here for the first time yesterday and this place is amazing! First of all it's very small but quaint and bright inside with lots of natural lighting. It was pretty busy when I went and there was only one server but the service was still excellent. The prices are very affordable especially for Ashland. The ramen was AMAZING!! I highly recommend ordering one of the bone broth ramen. The portion size is pretty big too, I couldn't finish because I was so full (although I really wanted to because it was so delicious). Hiro Ramen is probably my favorite restaurant in town. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable, the food is delicious and reasonably priced and the service is super fast and always very friendly. We went here because my husband loves ramen. I'm not so big a fan, but the online menu showed rice bowls, so I was willing to try the place out. My husband loved the ramen. He got chicken with soy, if that makes any sense. I wasn't really paying attention. He slurped and sweated, and was happy as a clam. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl and it was awesome! The white meat chicken was pounded flat or sliced thin before cooking, yet it was still tender, not dry at all. The teriyaki sauce was very traditional, for America anyway (I've never been to Japan), and was exactly what I expected. The broccoli pieces were on the large side and difficult to eat with chopsticks, but that's the only negative I can think of. The hot oil added some nice heat as well. Hiro Ramen will definitely go into the regular rotation of restaurant we must visit while in Ashland every year! read more

Downtown Ashlsnd, parking is a challenge however worth it. There is a paid parking in the area used for those attending the Shakespeare showings. Free street parking though. My boyfriend and I came back to Ashland, OR in May 2019 after spending a couple days there in October 2018. We beelined for Hiro Ramen. Of the four days we spent visiting Ashland, this time, we must have eaten at Hiro Ramen about 4-5 times! We are absolutely obsessed with the gluten free noodles in the delish broths we chose. This is our favorite ramen spot thus far in all of our ramen consumption. It is such a sweet little restaurant - cozy and peaceful. The food is incredible, the service is great, and the employees are always so kind and welcoming. Cute little storefront, small but not cramped. Good service. A decent menu of ramen and a few other Japanese and Korean dishes. I enjoyed the ramen here. There are several broths and noodle types to choose from. I got the tonkatsu with the porky noodles. It has all of the standard ramen accouterments. You can order additional to really beef up your bowl. It is a good size. I ordered extra noodles and I could not finish them, so I think just the normal order of noodles is enough. The noodles are probably not made onsite, but they still seem pretty fresh. The pork slices were delicious, with just the right amount of fat. I tried to takoyaki and they were delicious little fried balls of tasty octopus. Glad I came here. It is quality. Now I'm even more motivated to try the other family restaurant, Hiro Sushi in Medford. read more

I had the tonkatsu(definitely spelled that wrong) pork ramen and my goodness it was excellent. Wonderfully rich and savory. The portions were filling and the price was only 9.95 for the entire bowl. Also, It was 100 degrees out when I went, but the AC was awesome! In addition, the service was very friendly, and the decor inside has a very modern and clean feel to it. I ate a bowl of chicken & rice that was much better than other places that feature chicken bentos. The meat was sliced thin, well-cooked and juicy with a generous portion; while the teriyaki sauce (a little too much) was not as sweet as most other places serve (a plus for me), also a plus, some broccoli was included to provide a more balance meal. read more
