We switched to HiPoint in my building a couple years back and have never really had any major issues with service. Only had a minor outage once and when I contacted their help line I was quickly informed of the outage and their efforts to get everything up and running again. They recently increased our download and upload speeds with our new bulk plan. Their service has been very reliable and from what I can tell their pricing is very competitive as well. When we switched internet and cable providers in our building my monthly charges went down by about 50%. They've done a great job of being accessible to our residents as well - Shawn Neely was recently at our building hosting a question and answer session for our residents about the changes and upgrades available. If you have any other Internet option; choose it instead. My building switched to HiPoint in summer 2009. I choose to pay extra (the ProPlan) b/c I work from home a lot. The Internet was always slow and went out at least once a month (for days at a time). Each time they came around to fix it there was a different excuse: my router, building-wide outage, etc. Their customer support is laughable: telling me that turning off my computer will repair your DSL router issue was a nice try. I finally had to switch to Sprint MiFi because I couldn't reliably work from home. HiPoint not only charged me for the full month (I cancelled on 12/4, they also charged me a week later for another month.) Am now spending hours at the bank submitting fraud charges on this service. Any other Internet option will be faster and more reliable. read more

I am not sure if they are available everywhere, but my building just transitioned over to their service and I am so happy with the money I save. I use my computer to download movies from Netflix and when I had AT&T it took forever! I now have a 20Mbps connection and the movies are streaming. AT&T can not even offer speed like this, thanks HiPoint. Update: I am even more excited to say that HiPoint now offers a 100Mbps plan in my building. I do not have it but it's nice to know I could get it if I wanted to. read more

After many years of hell with Comcast I switched to DirecTV and hiPoint internet. HiPoint did both installations and manages the internet service. I am very please with Both satellite and my internet which I have had now 3 months. The customer service has been very helpful and I had only one brief problem with internet in 3 months, Tons better than Comcast on ALL levels. So glad I switched, even though I got a breakage fine from Comcast--the savings with DirectV and HiPoint internet paid for itself within 3 months. read more

***Update*** Tried to use the Genius service offered to my building and each experience was terrible. Unfriendly, uninterested techs on the other side, and one guy simply didn't understand what I was asking. The manager got on the phone and told me what I was requesting wasn't possible. Needless to say, found another service (also more affordable) and got it done in a flash. Hi-Point recently took over the service in my south loop condo building and so far have been providing excellent service! When there was an internet outage, they knew about it, responded quickly, kept updates flowing, and then sent a gift certificate to a great restaurant in town. They didn't stop there...a few days later, they made flow up calls to check on things. They are rolling out Genius Squad services to our building and I'm already impressed with the high quality of service, deep knowledge, and reasonable prices. My free consultation has already produced great results in managing all of my technology needs (personal and small business). Our previous provider was terrible, so this is a very welcome upgrade! The call in experience was a little less than satisfactory due to struggles hearing the operator, but once the technician arrived onsite he was extremely helpful. Clearly knowledgeable about the issues that we were experiencing and walked me through every step of his trouble shooting. Moved into a new building which works exclusively through HiPOINT. Over the weekend I was having internet issues and was quickly connected to someone who was able to look into the issue. Today, Ryan came out to hook up my DirectTV and was very nice and knowledgeable! He also took a look at my router and helped me to change the name / password so it was no longer set to factory settings and made sure there were no software updates that needed to be made. Our building switched to Hipoint about a year ago and I am extremely pleased with their service. At the beginning they had to work out the kinks in our high rise in setting up their service, but RCN had startup issues when they first came on site. During this year, Gavin, Ryan and the other guys have been great! They get here quickly when I need them and truly care about the quality of their product and their customers. They have high expectations for their company and know that this will only become a reality if their quality of service is top notch. Last building I was in choose Hipoint for its MDU contract. There was a well documented installation and everything went off without a glitch. We ran into Internet disconnects after some time. Hipoint sent out a couple of guys to look into and they were knowledgable and courteous. Issure was resolved after a short time. read more

I am truly embarrassed to say that I have been a HiPoint customer for almost a year now and have had telephone problems since day one. The biggest problem that still hasn't been fixed is the incoming call issue (i cant receive any incoming calls). I have called customer service multiple times to resolve this issue but the only solution they ever have is to "unplug the box for ten seconds then plug it back in"(never works, at least not for me). Other times the customer service representative just puts me on hold for a while and either just hangs up, or tells me that they cant find a problem on their end and that it must be the telephone I have hooked up. I seriously can't remember the last time i received an incoming call. Also, I have had many visitors sent away because my doorman tries to call the apartment but can never get through. HiPoint has never sent anyone out to fix this problem (and i swear its been going on for at least 10 months) and have never offered any kind of bill adjustments or even apologized for any inconveniences they may have caused. I am confident that Hipoint inc. will not be in business very long. They will eventually lose whatever existing clientele they have and thanks to sites like yelp, others will be informed of there thievery and steer clear. (I explained that I work from home and had a series of important virtual meetings first thing on Monday morning.) This 'company' installed internet and phone service in our building(312 units located on N Sheridan Road - Granville Beach) in July. In the process of doing this, they disrupted service to many of the existing residents who use AT&T for their phone/internet service. Many of the resident's speeds from AT&T dropped from 6 mpbs to as low as .81 mpbs per second from AT&T - or in some cases - no service at all!! After placing numerous support calls, the AT&T technicians who came out explained that Hi Point's equipment wasn't properly shielded/grounded/installed and was generating an excessive amount of RF interference which was impacting customers who have phone/internet service with AT&T. Aware of this, they attempted to SLAM other unit owners in the building, by asking them to sign up with them since their existing service with AT&T was impacted --- not an ethical way to do business. They also initially denied that their equipment was even the root cause, but later conceded after being confronted with the info received from AT&T. They also admitted that they had had similar issues in other buildings where they had setup service. After speaking with several residents in the building who now have Hi Point, many of them have had phone outages lasting AS LONG AS FIVE DAYS and intermittent internet service. AT&T is currently handing this issue to their legal department and may be informing Hi Point to cease their operations or fix their equipment so it doesn't interfere with the other residents. My building recently switched to HiPoint as its internet provider. We're only a few weeks in, but so far the service has been great. When there wasn't a router available at the installation, the sales manager, Todd, brought one by early the next morning so I could still make it to work on time. I also appreciate that before leaving my apartment, Todd checked to make sure the internet actually worked. Turns out there was an incorrect setting, which he and his technician were able to fix. But if they had left before checking that it worked I have had problems getting online. Let's hope this high-quality customer service continues. read more

This is the ABSOLUTETLY worst phone company I have ever dealt with. We lived in a condo building that offered their service. From the time the phone was installed it NEVER WORKED PROPERLY! I sent several service requests and they were never addressed. Our phone dropped calls, would not dial long distance, and the signal would become very noisy when talking. We moved out of that condo 6 weeks ago, and they are billing me claiming that I am still using the service! That is impossible because we moved into a single family home with a new phone number and area code. I asked for a disconnect several times and they still have not done that! Hipoint is the WORST! If you serve on a condo board, avoid this company! I would give them 0 STARS, but Yelp will not let me! read more

Be careful when signing up for HiPOINT as your internet provider. If you enjoy surfing the web for 30min and then losing connection then this is the company for you. When it comes to Netflix/AppleTV, you can guarantee that your show/movie will be interrupted every 20min. I have called customer service for days now and gotten the same response: "We need to run some tests in order to find the problem". These test consist of customer service making me unplug my modem/router, plugging them back in and telling me everything is fine. A couple months ago I had a technician come out to try and find the problem and all he told me was to buy a new router. I did and the same issues occur on a DAILY basis. Richard came out to my place today as my DirectTV wasn't connecting to the internet...when he got here he realized I was missing the piece to make this happen. W/ no questions asked he drove back to the office to get one and was back to my place as quickly as possible. Moved into a building using them about two years ago and I've felt like I was in the late 90's with satellite internet ever since. Service is slow even at the best of times and it routinely drops out at least once a day. Longer outages are common. It's hard to believe this is a modern company as they can't even provide always-on internet service to a small apartment building. It may be free but it's too expensive even at that price. read more

The worst service I have ever had to deal with. They love to rip you off. They never pick up your phone calls or respond back to your voicemails. I left many voicemails telling them I wanted my internet service to be cut off. They never called back and charged me for many extra months at my old apt in which I was not living at. I told them I can fax them my lease so they could see I did not even live at the apt anymore. They claim to have emailed in which I never received a single email besides their troubleshooting emails. Besides that when I spoke to the billing manager Nasreen ( worst person to speak with, so unproffessional and rude and wont even listen to a word you say), she claimed to have called me at a different number (a number I have never provided them with). Stay away from this service. They do not care about their customers at all and find all sorts of ways to rip you off. Each time I spoke to a representative, they told me a different thing. Our 321 unit condominium building switched to internet service with HiPoint in December 2010, and we couldn't be more happy. In the 2+ years we've had service, there has been next to 0 down time. Speeds have always been lightning fast and it is very nice for the residents to be able to select individual upgrade packages if they so desire. In order to stay in touch with residents, HiPoint also hosts an occasional coffee bar in the building's lobby and has techs on hand to deal with any issues that are brought to their attention at that time. HiPoint has been wonderful to work with and once they expand further south, I will be sure to switch my business onto their service as well. read more
