Eh...I honestly was disappointed. Walking in the smell of great cooking fills your senses. The place is clean and decorated appropriately. Service from the get go was spotty at best. The place was packed on Mothers Day mind you, and so I brushed off the poor service yet we had a reservation for six. When the food finally came an hour later it was nice and hot. The flavor factor was nil though. I have had plenty of Nepalese food and this fell short. I had the traditional Himalayan pan fried lamb. The cubed lamb was tender and melted in your mouth, but it had absolutely no flavor. I would have even settled for a little barnyard flavor at that point. Two hours later they brought us our check. My family was floored by the food and service at Himalayan Restaurant! Here's the breakdown: - Around 6pm on a Friday night, only a couple tables were taken so we were seated quickly and were given menus and water right away.. (However, as we were leaving, the restaurant was full and there was a line out the door). - The waiter suggested the lamb shank which my dad found, "amazing, SO GOOD, and excellent." The rest of us ordered calamari, garlic basil naan, chicken korma, veggie korma, coconut pumpkin with potato curry (vegan), mango lassi, and rice pudding. Best Himalayan Restaurant I have EVER tried. Absolutely crave their chicken tikka masala almost every day. Their lunch special (specific times) chicken tikka masala comes with the yummiest lentil soup to start off with, masala (you choose your spiciness), rice (choice or white or brown), small salad, and two half pieces of naan bread. Best portions for lunch at a great lunch special price! Their dinner chicken tikka masala is almost the same, soup, masala, rice (w/o salad and naan bread) but in a bigger portion for a higher price. Naan bread you will have to order separate for dinner (cheese naan is my favorite!) which comes in 4 halves. You can also ask for more rice if you do run out! I have to say that this place had the best chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had and I've tried a few different places before and this one take the gold medal. Also their mango lassi is very nice but it's quite filling and their naan is always fresh and slightly warm when you get it and it is perfect when they serve it. We have been here several times. My main problem with this restaurant is the unacceptable wait they put you through. Each time we order, they tell us to arrive an hour later. We arrive at the tine they tell us then wait for over a half hour more before we get our order. This evening we ordered at 6:40 pm. They said to arrive at 7:40 pm. When I arrived, the person helping me went into the kitchen and came back and said it wold be 5 minutes more. 20 minutes later I asked again what happened to my order. They said they were packing it up as we spoke and it would be ready in 5 minutes. Another 20 minutes went by before we got our order. Every time it's the same unpleasant experience and the food isn't worth it. read more

I've lived in San Francisco (which I consider to have one of the best food in the world) and currently live in Los Angeles and I still haven't found a better Indian restaurant.
