Don't let the humble setting fool you because once you walk in you are in for an exceptional experience. The food here is absolutely phenomenal. Some of my favorite dishes are the goat biryani, chicken momo, dal makhani, coconut lamb, and chicken vindaloo. Each dish is bursting with authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. The menu beautifully blends Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan influences that keep me coming back again and again. The service is outstanding. Over the time I have been eating here I have gotten to know the staff and their warmth and genuine hospitality make every visit special. Rupesh is especially thoughtful and attentive and always makes sure you feel welcomed. Whether you are a local or just visiting Healdsburg I recommend Bollywood Kitchen to everyone I know. Firstly, largest gluten free offerings I have seen, and a huge vegetarian offering. The service was excellent. This is a hidden gem in Healdsburg and highly recommend it. Probably a five or six minute walk from the plaza. The star of the dinner for me was the "Malai Kofta - Vegetable dumpling cooked in creamy tomato, onion sauce, cashew & Indian spices." Already thinking about the next visit, just for this dish. But really every thing from the sample soup we received (how nice), the vegetable pakora's to start and the papadam's which I just love. Also had the Palak Paneer which again was yummy. They have a spice rating and we went with the two peppers (mild/medium) and for me this was perfect. If you want medium (3 peppers) or more, I wish you good eating . It does not have the ambience of some of the other HBG dining places, but I would go here for sure if I lived locally or was just visiting. read more

Bollywood - A Hidden Gem in Healdsburg When we moved here from Silicon Valley, one of the things we truly missed was a great Indian restaurant. Thankfully, a friend from Grenville (where sadly the river quite literally runs through it) introduced us to Bollywood and what a find it was! Tucked away in a strip mall, this spot is easy to overlook, but don't let the location fool you. If anything, being off the tourist path is a sign that this is the kind of place locals keep coming back to. The lunch special is a real bargain at $19.95, especially considering today's restaurant prices. Served on a traditional metal tray, the meal includes fragrant basmati rice, warm and pillowy garlic naan, a refreshing small salad with mango dressing, and, the highlight, curried goat shaved from the bone. Every bite was full of rich, perfectly balanced flavors that made us wonder why we hadn't found this place sooner. Beyond the food, the service was just as memorable. Our Nepalese server was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. If you love Indian food and have been searching for something truly special, this is the place. Bollywood exceeded our expectations when we arranged that they would prepare and deliver an Indian feast menu for 60 people. They were a pleasure to work with and we felt it was very good value for money. Our menu included their Vegetable Fritters, Gobi Manchurian, three curries (Chicken Korma, Shrimp Curry and Vegetable Curry) as well as Naan and their Saffron Rice. Ordered from Bollywood Kitchen for another Takeout Tuesday and it really warmed the soul. The yellow lentils remain a favorite for some cozy plant-based protein. Add that to the brown rice and throw in some spinach (from our fridge), and boom! Delicious, nutritious, comforting dinner. Bollywood was the perfect little spot to have a girl's day! My sister and I came to have lunch Saturday morning and opted for outdoor dining. Our server was lovely and attentive the whole 2 hours we were there. Very accommodating when we had to move tables due to the sun with just the right amount of check in's. Bollywood is brand new in town, opened about 6 months ago. We shared many dishes from Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Salmon Tandoori, Vegetable Momos and the Vegetable Curry. The dishes came with white rice. The food is SO FRESH, delicious and hearty. The portions are perfect for family style sharing. This was one of the best Indian food I've had and I'm typically not a fan but everything we ordered was delicious. We started off with the Samosas, a must order in my opinion. The chutneys it came with complemented it well. We ordered the meat lovers special and it was a stellar deal. Comes with an appetizer, two entrees, butter naan and dessert. I also appreciated the rice could be refilled. Really enjoyed the tandoori assorted appetizers. Allowed us to try a good variety. The chicken was surprisingly moist. My mild goat curry still had a bit of a kick, which I really enjoyed but would avoid if you can't handle spice. We also ordered a lamb Biryani. Don't let the small container fool you. It was packed to the brim and the flavors were amazing. We also ordered the basil pesto naan which I thought was a bit out there but turned out to be surprisingly good. Mango Lassi is always a hit. I could taste mango. The staff was super friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Owner also came in to check how our meal was going. Overall would highly recommend Bollywood kitchen. First (but not last) visit to Bollywood Kitchen, which is tucked away into the corner of the Vineyard Plaza (aka Safeway shopping center), right next door to the "Dollar Twenty-Five Tree Store". The food here is first-rate (at least what we tried***); service was polite, albeit shall we say "leisurely" (so don't be in a hurry). A relatively open floor plan precludes a romantic time, but hey -- you're here for food, right? The place is clean and comfortable *** we highly recommend the following: Lamb Vindaloo Chicken Saag Chicken Biryani (I'm sure this list will be expanded upon our next visit) We ordered a bowl of basmati rice, which was large enough to share (~2 cups?), and some tasty garlic naan If you order spicy (yes please) it'll get your attention If you order medium, there's still some heat If you prefer mild, go to McDonald's down the road read more

We were so excited to find out about the opening of Bollywood Kitchen during this cold rainy stretch of January. I found out about it this morning and we agreed to head up for lunch today and see what the food was like. So glad we did! We arrived around noon and were the only customers in the restaurant. We were seated at our choice of table and got to take a look at the menu. They offer Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan cuisine, and the menu has a lot of good options. Immediately something caught my eye as unique and that was their burritos- paneer burrito, chicken tikka masala burrito and veggie burrito...you have piqued my interest! After looking at the menu we decided to go for their Bollywood Kitchen Platter, the veggie lovers option ($49.99). This included two main entrees of our choice from the vegetarian section, a vegetarian assorted appetizer, a bowl of basmati rice, an order of butter naan and one dessert. Perfection! We opted for the palak paneer and the veggie tikka masala for our two entrees. While waiting, we took a look at the interior. This location used to be a Chinese restaurant and most recently a ramen/izakaya restaurant and there are still things from that chapter in the decor. The space is really welcoming and open and the bathrooms were clean. We ordered a cup of chai each since it was cold outside and those arrived piping hot and well spiced. The appetizer included one potato samosa, two artichoke pakoras and two vegetable pakoras, with the associated cilantro and tamarind sauces. The samosa was perfectly spiced, and the pakoras were both really well cooked and were complemented by the sauces. The entrees arrived and the smell was amazing. The spinach paneer was one of the best I have ever eaten and was uniquely flavored in a way that was equal parts savory and satisfying. The vegetable tikka masala was bright and spicy with a creamy sauce. The deliciousness did not stop there- the basmati rice was just the right texture, and the naan was both chewy on top and crisp on the bottom with a delightful airiness. For dessert, we were able to choose between the rice pudding and the gulab jamun, and I'm so glad we opted for the latter. Literally the best one I have ever eaten anywhere- it was what gulab jamun dreams about being when it grows up. It was the epitome of perfectly golden, fried, chewy and fluffy spiced dough in a sweet syrup. I gotta tell you, it's worth it to come here just for this dessert! This was only the second day that they had been open and I was really impressed with the quality of their dishes. The seasonings were really on point and it was clear they took their time making sure the dishes were exactly the way they wanted them to be before they came out to the table. I'm really glad Bollywood Kitchen has come to Healdsburg, and you better believe I'm making the drive up here for that spinach/palak paneer and those divine gulab jamun!!! read more

Excited to try this spot. My friend and I stopped in for lunch a little while ago. The inside was spacious and pretty empty when we came. Butter chicken - Wow this was the best butter chicken I've ever had! Fantastic flavor. A must try. 10/10 Tandoori Assorted Appetizer - nicely presented on a sizzling plate. My friend loved it. I'm not a big fan of tandoori because I feel that is it too dry, but this is one of the better tandoori I've had, but still didn't change my mind. 7/10 Goat curry - the weakest of the dishes. First there wasn't much goat and secondly goat meat wasn't super tender. The curry didn't have much flavor. 5/10 Butter naan - after having amazing naan at another place this naan falls short. There were lots of take out orders happening though throughout. I can see why, food is great! Indian with great variety and some subtle distinctions. Chai teas very satisfying. We split the meat platter (for 2) three ways and it was slightly more than three hungry people could finish so perfect amount! The assorted meat appetizer that is included is a great way to start. We choose Lamb Korma and Mali Kahfta as our entrees and saffron pea rice. All delicious! We had the mango ice cream type dessert. It was so refreshing! I've tried just about every vegetarian dish on the menu and this restaurant is authentic and delicious. (My hubs is North Indian so we eat a lot of this cuisine.) The staff is kind and very helpful. We ordered level 4 and level 5 and the level 5 was quite spicy so if you prefer a milder option levels 1-3 would be best. 2) Lamb Vindaloo- 5/5. Level 4 spice. Great choice for a lamb curry if you're want to try something new 3) Chicken Biryani- 5/5. Level 4 spice. This came with a raita (yogurt sauce) and if you're familiar with biryani, tasted just as expected 4) Naan- 4/5. Flavor and the actual item was good but I knocked off one star as the quantity of naan for the price of each seemed a bit steep. 5) Tandoori Chicken- 5/5. Plenty of food. One Tandoori chicken is enough for two people and it comes with rice. The service was excellent! They have a ample selection of dishes to choose from. The serve beer, wine and of course Masala chai. Since I didn't want to stay up all night with caffeine, I tried the ginger ale punch.
