Great in Union Square with amazing food! Roasted chicken wings were OH SO GOOD! I recommend the punjabi flavor if you like a little spice. Probably best wings I've had in Boston! Dum Aloo - delicious spiced potato! I saw a picture on Yelp and ordered this and it was delish! Kwati - mixed lentil curry - healthy and flavorful - goes great with rice or garlic naan. Momos - we got the veggie pan fried momos and they were delicious!! Definitely coming back here :) read more

Fantastic food, but slow service. We have eaten here both in-restaurant, and by ordering takeout over the phone. The food is great, and we really enjoy their mutter paneer, Nepali thali, and momos. Their chicken curries are really, really good, and they sometimes grill the chicken to order. The main drawback is that they are absurdly slow to process orders. In-store, we received 2 dishes and then waited about 30 minutes for the last one. When we get takeout, we get the impression that the only start cooking once you show up to claim the order. On busy nights, there is a sizeable line of to-go couriers waiting outside to pick up orders. read more

TLDR: This isn't a date restaurant, more of a no-frills place with awesome food. Tiny restaurant, HUGE menu. I'd recommend this place more for take-out or delivery, simply because the small space can get full very quickly. Also, it can get pretty uncomfortably hot inside with the heaters during the winter - the one time I ate in, a heater was directly adjacent to our table and I felt like I was getting a sunburn. Himalayan Kitchen has a ton of vegetarian options, all of which that I've tried are delicious! I would definitely recommend trying their Palak Paneer pizza. The large is only 13.95, and you're getting plenty of bang for your buck (definitely enough for 2-3 people). Food is served fast, piping hot, and soooo darn good. I'll definitely be back soon - the Paneer Naanwich is calling my name! read more

My friends and I came here for lunch. There are a lot of options in somverville for good food but we never been here and decided to give a try. The menu had so many interesting choices from Indian to Himalayan and Nepali food. What we ordered was indian and the food was tremendous. We ordered goat biryani, I dont recall ever eating goat I usually have had lamb biryani but the goat was phenomenal and the rice that came with it was unbelievable. This dish also came with homemade plain yogurt. The steamed chicken Momo were so good with the hot sauce. Chicken Wings on the grill is a must. These wings were meaty and tasty. The naan bread was some of the best I have had in a long time. Garlic, plain and cheese all baked fresh on the spot.. Chicken tiki masala was a little different than the usual indian places I eat at. This was more creamier, thicker and it was my favorite dish. The service was great everyone here is really nice. The food is served on plastic plates and to go containers. It doesn't matter what it's in I could have ate any of it off a paper towel that's how satisfied we all were!! read more

Authentic Nepalese restaurant approved by my Nepalese friend! Definitely get the momo with the sauce! They offer complimentary Nepalese milk tea which tastes awesome! Owners of the restaurant also serve in the restaurant, sometimes it takes time for him to come take your order. Might need to be proactive ordering your dishes. Besides traditional Nepalese dishes, they have pizza and sub. Saag paneer pizza is a nice combo of Indian food and pizza. Loved it! You give you 7% off if you pay cash. read more

Ordered through uber eats. Review is about food and packaging only. Had a hankering for samosas and this restaurant popped up in my feed. After double-checking the Yelp reviews I was confident in my order. Ordered two orders of samosas and one garlic naan. Carbs be calling LOL. I was disgusted with what arrived. 3 out of 4 of the samosas were fried to a crisp and inedible. They look like they were scorched by a fire-breathing dragon. The naan was okay but after losing my appetite from the samosas I couldn't eat it. I was surprised to see the packaging was all styrofoam. That was also a disappointment. It's not difficult for restaurants to transition to environmentally friendly Packaging. I hope they get on the ball with this. Overall, I highly doubt I'd ever visit this establishment because of what I've seen from their delivery. read more

Jay was really nice! The spicy chicken momos are a bit sour, but really good. The Malabari paratha was really flaky and buttery. They also had strawberry lassi which wasn't on the menu, but I would still recommend getting the mango lassi over the strawberry. read more

I like that the food comes out in to-go containers. It makes it easy to take it away since the portions were pretty large. The cheese/chili naan was the best and paired well with the Chicken Tikka Masala. I highly recommend this joint! read more

I haven't had Nepali food in a long time and my friend suggested this place because she goes here a lot. So I did a quick search on the menu and I really wanted to try the pizza they have. We ordered the chicken Palak pizza and Chicken pan fry momos. And I must say I was amazed on how delicious everything was. I honestly can't think of anything negative from my experience. Everything was well made and dipping the pizza into the momo sauce is amazing. I would highly recommend if you're craving a different style pizza and momos. read more

The people are very welcoming with nice service. Delicious food selection and nice cocktail.

This place is such a hidden gem! Jay, the owner, made a huge effort to speak with us, and the service felt so kind and personal. The food was also incredible! We ordered the spicy veggie momos and the nepali thali. Both were amazing and such large portions. They also brought us rice pudding, which was so delicious. We were stuffed!! read more

You'll feel at home when you dine at Himalayan Kitchen. It's a true family-run business where the food is top notch and the cozy casual dining area makes you want to linger after dinner and order dessert -- which I highly recommend you do! Without a doubt! I'd been meaning to check out this location for a while, and I finally did! There are only a few instances in life when a meal is as satisfying as the one my girlfriend and I had. Despite what some people may think, the customer service was excellent. Although not the chattiest, the waiting staff was courteous and attentive. Although the decor is quite minimal, it is undoubtedly spotless and tasteful. The menu is a reasonable size and includes all the usual fare. the meal. Such a fantastic balance of spicy, rich, and real flavors! Although not the finest I've ever had, the quality was fairly decent, and the portions were large as is customary for Indian and Nepalese restaurants. A must try, but I have a feeling you'll want to return repeatedly:) read more

Myself and some friends went before watching a friend's band a week or so ago. The whole staff was fantastic and were willing to answer any questions. We ordered a variety of foods and several orders of Naan. All of it was delicious. We were even able to try the rice pudding. As a self proclaimed hater of rice pudding, I suggest trying theirs. It really is different. The food was served right in containers we could cover to take out, so you know the staff is really able to focus on the food, creating those delicious flavors. The place has limited seating, so get in early. If you've missed your spot, get some takeaway. You won't regret it. read more

Went back because we ended up getting to eat down the street (finally) but we had people coming over the next day and I wanted to serve them something delicious. Since we had no time/energy to cook, we picked up 2 of the chili chicken momo and samosa chaat to go. Jay, as usual, was delightful and this time, threw in rasgulla. I always feel guilty when restaurants do this. Next time we will just buy a dessert. I stand by my original review. This place is amazing. read more

Sooooo excited to find Himalayan Kitchen and to learn that there's free delivery!! My friends and I came in person and gorged on Chicken Momos, Chicken Chili, Chicken Do, and Garlic Naan. The chicken chili was soooo yummy! The chicken pieces were lightly fried and tossed in a bomb sauce! The Chicken Do and naan paired perfectly to make a delicious, hearty combination of flavors! You seriously can't go wrong with any of the dishes and the naan really seals the deal. The Momos were good but nothing phenomenal and fell short compared to how much more delicious everything else was. Definitely recommend all the entrees and all the naan to go with it! You won't regret it. read more

Ordered to go from Himalayan kitchen for the first time last weekend. Service was great, the man over the phone was super friendly and helpful in suggesting us food options, as we had never tried anything before. We ordered tikka chicken masala, goat biryani, and Bombay wings. The tikka was not too spicy, and it was very flavorful, I liked it a lot. The chicken in the curry wasn't dry either, which is great. The wings were good, had some lemon flavors. The goat meat in the biryani was super tender. It was my first time having biryani and I loved it. I def want to come back and try the Momo's soon. read more

It was my first time here but the food and people here were fantastic? The first thing we got were the spicy pork momo. They are covered in a tasty sauce but come out quick enough that the dumplings are still crispy, I highly highly recommend them. For our main meal I had the chicken makhani which was a very rich curry. By itself it was a little too rich but with the garlic Naan or rice it was just right. My friend got the goat curry which was seasoned well with spices but I liked the chicken curry better personally. For a drink we had the mango lassi which was a fruity yogurt drink that was thick and delicious definitely recommend. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the chyoila. To me it tasted over charred or burnt. I'm not sure if it was the dish or my palate but it wasn't for me. End of the day when you come get a mango lassi, the momo, and a curry and you won't go wrong. The people are really nice and take care of you while you are there! read more

Does not look like much when you walk past. But, we were dying of hunger, so popped in. Ordered chicken tikka pizza, jhol momos, and their special thali with naan. The momos were full with juicy meat inside, dipped in not-so-spicy yummy gravy, it was just perfect. Every item in the thali had their distinct taste. The pizza had a nice Himalayan spice touch. We enjoyed quite a lot. read more

This is a comfort spot in every way. Jay and the rest of the staff are so friendly and want you to enjoy your time at the restaurant. Not only that but there was so much variety in the food and flavor packed in every bite. If you gave me jumbo Bombay wings and spiked mango lassi every weekend for the rest of my life, I would say that I lived life to its maximum potential. Cool, quaint spot to go with a few friends! read more

This place is awesome. I've ordered for pickup twice now, and both times the kitchen was quick (20 min) and the staff super friendly. When I go in to pick up my order, the 4 tables are always full of college aged kids eating delicious spicy dishes. I order thru GrubHub, and both times ordered "C Momo." Not realizing that stood for "chilli." Luckily I love spice! The c momo come in this great bright red sauce with onions and peppers. The sauce is what's hot, and it's flavorful, with a slow burn. Not for the faint of heart. I did pork momo the first time and chicken the second. Both were really good! The man behind the counter said the chicken chilli momo is his favorite dish, however. I got the chow mein, which was also quite good. Chow mein is a bit boring in principle, but I enjoyed the fresh, big cuts of vegetables and chewy noodles. The Chicken Tikka Pizza. Dear God this is a genius dish. The pizza here is good (it's not New York style, but it's not shitty Boston Pizza either). We got a small, and the crust was still an appropriate size (not too much crust around the ends). The star was of course the toppings. Delicious masala sauce under cheese, topped with big but tender slices of chicken and veggies. My roommate ordered this the next day after I had him try a bite. Also tried the samosa. Flaky, savory, crumbly. I truly think that was the best samosa I'd ever had. How are they doing this! Overall, I love this place and can't wait to try more of the food! Edit: tried the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It was so good! Really unique, big fried bites of Buffalo chicken and big slices of white onion. I really, really loved it. read more

I have tried momos in many different cities in the US and Himalayan Kitchen is among the best, with the prices and the flavors. There are different flavors of momos that will fill your soul and your stomach. Having been born in Kathmandu, I can help guide you on different ways to enjoy this magnificent Nepali dish. Guide to Momos by Nix: If you want to keep it classic, go for Steamed (Pork or Chicken). I wish they have Buffalo, maybe someday but both Pork and Chicken are really good. If you love french fries, go for pan-fried momos. If you love your dishes with some extra sauce, go for Jhol style momos. If you love spicy, go for C-momo (Stands for chili momo). read more

everything is incredible! Highly recommend. Each thing on the menu is great, as well as the kheer!

You guys! You gotta' try the Spicy Momos. I'm a huge fan of fried momos drenched in their spicy sauce! I usually just get the spicy momos because the flavor and taste is so gooooood! I would love to try their pizza, but the spicy momos are the most valid thing on the menu. read more

Literal hole in the wall with really great food! My friends and I came the other day; we ordered naan and two types of paratha, some chicken, saag paneer, kebobs, and steamed chicken momo. Everything was really good, especially the paratha. The kebabs were frozen though, so that was disappointing. It's also fairly cheap - for example, momo is $4.99 for 8. This place is pretty great. They revamped and renovated the inside and did a fantastic job giving it an almost upscale club/bar vibe. The nice couple that owns it made a menu that is a great mix of the classic American sub shop and delicious South-Asian cuisine. Would highly recommend a some momo's and a cocktail. Would be a fun date spot. read more

Chicken Curry spiced hot,Tawa Bread spiced hot, Chicken Madris spiced hot, Lamb Curry spiced hot, Spicy Momos, This was actually our thirdtime ordering from here since moving to the Somerville area last month, but sadly, we don't think we'll be coming back for more after our experience tonight... We placed our order online via Himalayan's website and asked that our Chicken Curry and Tawa Bread both be spicy hot... The exact same as we had previously gotten orders two times before. Much to our surprise, the bread was pretty darn spicy, but the entree had absolutely no kick whatsoever... Interestingly, a customer who came in just in front of us had specifically requested no spice... We understand that mistakes are made and that customers should give places a bit of slack, but we just don't get why such places like Himalayan Kitchen then don't offer a small compensation for their own mistakes. Once we tasted the first bite of the Chicken Curry and immediately recognized it was lacking any spice, we called to explain the situation and said we would be returning for a replacement meal. Mind you, meanwhile, our Tawa Bread continued getting colder by the minute. After almost a 15 minute drive to get there again, we simply got an apology and was told that should a problem ever happen like this in the future, they would "make it right".WHAT??? Obviously, any reputable establishment would correct their error, but how about giving your customer a free appetizer or something else on the next order? I mean, all we got was what we actually paid for, minus some dried out Tawa Bread from having to reheat it and 25 minutes of lost time. Also, unlike with our previous orders, they managed to go overboard on the spiciness, to the point that the flavor itself was lost... All heat and no depth! Anyway, I'm sorry to say that we weren't impressed with the whole way Himalyan handled their mistake and later how the replacement curry turned out. read more

For the people in the area looking for a place to eat tonight, look no further! From the moment I walked in and was greeted by Jay to the moment I left, I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The service and food were both fantastic. The multicultural inclusivity is apparent from the owners all the way to the menu, and the people are just as warm and amazing as the food! My girlfriend and I ordered the spicy chicken momos, samosas, lamb korma, chili chicken, multiple pita breads, mango lassi, and the rice pudding for dessert. I would recommend each and every one of them to everyone. My only regret is that I didn't get to try more of the menu. I will absolutely return to support this great local business and to no doubt be wowed by the great combination of friendly service, delicious food, and comfortable atmosphere yet again. read more

I don't know how long the price will stay this way, but $4.99 for steamed Momo? It's simply the best! I've been looking for real good momos and Nepali style Chow Mein (Lo Mein?) and I think I just found one. It confused me at first because of BBQ International sign and they make pizzas? They still kept the old restaurant's food items to keep local customers happy. Nice! I need to try them at some point, but this review is about Nepali food. 8 steamed pieces for $4.99 is really a steal! But I personally like the soupy momos and they are hard to find. I highly recommend this place. So good. read more
