I just ate dinner here on my birthday, and I'm so glad I chose this place. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We got a ton of food and drinks that included the momo platter, chicken korma, lamb pharsi, saag paneer, garlic naan, plain naan, Nepalese chow mein, garlic broccoli, Himalayan chiya, and mango lassi. It was all delicious! The staff surprised me with mango ice cream for my birthday, and my family all agreed that it was delectable. We will definitely return to Himalayan Kitchen. read more

I had dinner there the other night. Unfortunately, we dug right into our food and I didn't take photos! Since it was my first visit, I decided to go with something classic - Chicken Momos and Curry Chicken. Both dishes were excellent and very tasty! Also had a glass of Malvasia Bianco - a nice accompaniment to the spicy curry. The service was excellent, the place was very clean and the tables were not so close together. A hidden gem in Marin. It truly doesn't get enough recognition. Upon arriving it may seem unassuming, but it is some of the best Indian food I have ever had. The Aloo Gobi, Paneer Tikka masala, snd Bengan Bhartha are my favorites (best aloo gobi i have ever had). Skip the line at Lotus and drive a few minutes for somewhere that tastes better and is less greasy. So delicious, I keep coming back time and time again! read more

Friendly staff, clean place, but lunch prices are HIGH. Stirfried veggies, rice plus cup of tea equals $30 -with tax and tip it was $39!!! I would pay that for something more creative and/ or tasteful (and have) but this was standard fare, nothing special. Cannot recommend for non meat eaters. read more

We ordered chicken Tikka Masala, palak paneer, brown rice, naan and gulab jamun. We felt the food was good, but missing something. I wish there was tamarind sauce included or some sort of Indian hot sauce or spices. Just needed a lot more flavor. We will give this restaurant another try in a few months. I ordered lamb kabob, lamb curry, saag paneer, raita, and butter naan for take out on a Monday night. The food was tasty and fresh and not at all oily. Although the lamb had good flavor it was dry and chewy. In my opinion way over cooked. The naan was dry and flavorless. read more

very good food in non-descript place. We actually went thinking it was owned still run by prior Masala and were wrong: new owners, new more Himalayan food ... Super nice folks who run this and the food was really excellent. We like hotter/spicy food and ours came as requested (not easy to find in Marin - spicy). The food was all excellent. Best momo's I've ever eaten; very good Himalayan chow mein, and great Indian-style foods with a distinct flavor of Himalaya. We will definitely return and look forward to it. Believe me when I say I was SKEPTICAL about trying this place when I heard it was under new ownership. I've been coming to this restraunt pretty much weekly since it opened up under the previous owner. But I rolled the dice and decided to give It a shot and let me tel you. IT PAID OFF. The food is still great! The staff still friendly! they even gave me a bowl of soup while I waited for my order to be finished up.. I was working in San Rafael and wanted to pick up some Indian food for dinner. Based on the reviews I chose Masala Kitchen. Hard to believe all the reviews were 5 star but now I understand why!!!! First off, the on line ordering interface was easy and I was able to pick the time to pick-up. It was ready exactly the time I asked! I had Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken ( Makhani ) Naan, and Biriani. It was all the best I have had in a long time. It was even still warm when I got back to Novato. The only thing I would do differently would be to ask for mild Biriani....my fault, they say it is hot. but still delicious. I look forward to trying some of the other offerings.
