Came back here really hoping my first experience was just an off day, but unfortunately it wasn't. Pretty disappointed this time around. For me, rice is kind of the baseline for a good Persian spot--if that's not right, it's hard to overlook. The rice tasted old, clumpy, and just not fresh, which was a big letdown. The koobideh didn't help much either... it fell pretty flat and didn't have the flavor or texture I was expecting. The service and ambience did not make up for the food quality, either. Honestly, it's a bummer because this is basically the only Persian option in Marin, and I really wanted it to be good. I just moved back in the area and stopped by on Sunday. The food quality was just as good as I remember it. I had the lamb kebabs with a side of the humuus and cucumber and tomato salad. My DH had the steak kebab and chicken koobideh with rice and humuus. Both entrees were delicious and the meats were grilled perfectly. This hidden gem is a MUST! The food was wonderful. I got the combo A with Chicken Breast with half saffron rice half shirazi. My husband got Joojeh kabob with salad and shiravi. The meat was flavorful and the shiravi was light and tasteful! Of course we got pita bread on the side with Persian tea. The service was wonderful. The staff were very attentive and the ambiance feels like your being welcomed into someone's home. We will be coming back next time we are in the area. Not a lot of people even though the waitress said they were packed when we arrived which was a little after 1pm on a Friday First time here, when the check came we were surprised to see a cash side for paying and then a credit side for payment two separate columns with different prices. Almost 5.00 more when paying on a card. So I would suggest bringing cash. Sine they charged us more for using card, I opted to give them 5.00 less on the tip. Good food, great service! Server (owner?) was awesome, super patient and attentive, nice, knew the menu we'll, and warned us that lamb takes a little longer to cook. Kebab plate was delicious, meat was super tender, yogurt tastes fresh Persian burger was also really good and the fries are awesome! Last week I ordered a large family platter (over $100) online for a 4:15pm pickup. I received a text stating that the order would be ready at 4:15. When I arrived at 4:20 I was told that the order was never received. They verified the order was made but did not print it in the kitchen due to some glitch. I was told I would have to wait 25-30 minutes for the order. Additionally, I asked to purchase three sides (yogurt dip, hummus and babaganoush) and was told they were not available. I waited for the order and could not believe how poorly it was packaged. No accommodations were made. This restaurant lost a long time customer. read more

Food is a 3 out of 10. Not much flavor. Small portions. Charges extra a a few tiny pieces of pita that tasted like cardboard. $29 steak was worth about $19 and the $21 chicken was worth about $16. I haven't been here in years and now I know why: it's even worse than I remembered. Unfortunately, the rising foods costs have probably affected the quality of the food for the worse. The lamb was overly chewy. The salad was okay, but may have been leftover from lunch: not much crunch left in the cucumber pieces. The pita was there strangest pita I've ever seen: very thin and cut into precise rectangles a little smaller than the cards in a deck of cards. You pay 75 cents for 8 or 10 of them. The best part of the restaurant was the woman at the front, who was very helpful in explaining the menu choices. read more

Ordered the chicken kebab. Seasoning was fine but after biting into one the larger pieces it was not fully cooked. It had a rubbery texture. I sent two undercooked pieces back to the kitchen. It was fully cooked then but the overall experience was not good. I always enjoy Persian style rice, This rice was not fluffy as one would expect. Instead it was overly "wet" and not at all enjoyable. I always finish my rice but left half of it on the plate. Overall, not a good experience. I wouldn't eat here again. read more

Restaurant has no ambiance. Boxes stacked on chairs. Catering food warmers laid out on tops of shelves in the dining room. Music went from loud Spanish to nothing. Empty wine racks nailed to the wall. Server yelling at the kitchen workers telling them they don't know how to prepare the dishes. Overall just a sense of messiness. What saved it from a 1-star rating was the food. It was tasty and well-seasoned. Not in a "sit in the restaurant and enjoy it" way, but rather it would have been good for take-out. Indeed, while my table partner and I were the only customers dining in the restaurant the whole time we were there, Uber eats drivers and people coming in to pick up their meal-in-a-bag were plentiful. So if you're on your way to the park, or are late coming home from work, call ahead and order a lamb shish-k-bob or a chicken or beef wrap. They'll likely be tasty. read more

Honestly kinda sucked. Maybe it's because we DoorDashed instead of going in person, but everything was just...bad in some way or another. The hummus was bland and tasted like tahini and water (despite this it did have great texture.) over dinner we called it such things like "muted" and "flavorless." The meat in our wraps was well prepared but all the sauce and spices were at the bottom of a soggy tortilla or whatever holds the stuff in. Garlic fries where soggy and made with jar garlic instead of fresh (which like, I do at home but this is a restaurant and it don't take much to mince garlic.) I'd have to edit this meal pretty hard to enjoy it. I was excited to try food outside my comfort zone but this...was a bad first impression. read more

Came here for lunch one summer day. The area is in a boat storage area and not up to date, nice and kind of sets a bad tone for the place. Someone made a cute effort on the patio by planting fresh herbs and tomatoes but it ends there. I noticed most people we're ordering takeout and I see why. The restaurant itself looks old, sticky, and like it needs a deep cleaning. Their storage of goods and takeout materials has encroached into the dining area and looks awful. No decor. Dark. The guy who took our order was nice but $40 for a wrap and a chicken salad is way too much. Both my lunch date and I were concerned about food safety and getting sick...not something you should be thinking when you order. Flavors were lacking. Freshness questionable and they were out of salad. Bottom line. I won't be back. Try at your own risk read more

Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, great service from our waitress Anna, and very tasty food. We like this small and authentic place it's hidden behind a carpet store near a boatyard "marina". Great is the huge parking around the store. We often go here for just a glass of Wine (ice tea) and some bites. The taste is really authentic and I love kebabs (beef or chicken skewers). The people there are great, friendly, and accommodating. I was having the Mazda serviced today so I had made a lunch date w/ Nancy since I was going to be in Marin. I had forgotten about this place but she had found it on Yelp. We drove into the right alley, since her phone was directing her, but we didn't see the restaurant. We drove to the end, turned around and went back out, turned right, went into the next alley and asked someone, who directed us to where we had been before. This time we found it. I had a glimmer of a memory that I had been there before but couldn't remember the details. Nancy had a glimmer of a memory that we had been there together but it wasn't until I got home and reread my Yelp review that I remembered. They have outdoor seating but we sat inside at a 4top. The lovely young woman who served us was sweet and helpful. She gave us menus. I looked over the options and ordered almost the exact same thing I had the first time. At least I'm consistent! I got one skewer of koobideh, mast-o-kahiar and hummus. This time, instead of dough, I ordered Persian tea to drink. Nancy ordered a falafel salad and drank water. Everything was delicious and we had a lovely visit. It was so much nicer than sitting alone in the waiting room at the Mazda dealer. They have one gender neutral bathroom, immaculately clean and nicely decorated, through the curtain on the left of the counter and all the way back. read more

The space is a little grungy, but the food is fresh and delicious, the people who work there are friendly and skillful, and they play great jazz on the sound system.
