Stopped by this little place due to a friend's recommendation (they always eat here when passing by!). It's a cute little place with soccer jerseys on the walls and both patio and indoor seating. The service is quick and friendly - I think it's a family run place and gives some of that homey vibe. The food was good - coconut curry and paratha were served warm and had a mild flavor (a bit too mild for my personal tastes) and texture. This is, literally, the best Indian food outside of India! Maybe I am exaggerating a little, but I've been to Michelin-starred places in which the food did not taste nearly as good. We went several times for dinner as well as lunch and tried a lot of dishes from the menu - at least a couple from each section. Every single dish was delicious!!! What really sets them apart is that every dish is prepared in its own way - seasoning, texture, little added ingredient and such... unlike many Indian restaurants that make everything taste and feel the same. Dropped by ~6 PM on a Sunday memorial day weekend after hiking near the area and there was no wait. The food was solid, but lots of food items were out like the chicken makhani and aloo paratha. Also we ordered garlic naan but the waiter gave us half garlic half cheese?? Other than that, we got the chicken karahi, dal, butter chicken, rice and naan. My personal favorite was the chicken karahi and friend especially loved the dal. We ordered family style, but each food item really is an individual portion. read more

Drove 30 minutes from Stinson Beach, where I am staying for the long weekend -- just to have dinner -- my second visit to Arti. The first was unforgettable! The setting is GORGEOUS. The food -- HEAVEN. The staff - awesome. Met an Indian couple the first time who drive there from San Mateo area! They said it's authentic, delicious, and not Americanized. 4 star friendly staff. Zero stars if I could for the food. I have no idea what people are ordering when they gave this a good rating. We ordered a Vegetarian samosa vegetable biryani Chicken biryani Eggplant Chicken tikka masala Naan Raita Portions are generous but no one liked their food. Eggplant was the only dish that remotely tasted authentic. It wasn't great but it shined in a sea of horrible food. Samosas had potatoes and no flavor. Chicken tikka masala had no flavor. Tasted mostly like butter. Naan had no fluff or rise to it. Chicken Biryani - it had bell peppers and coconut flakes on top. Need I say more? What on earth are they trying to pass off as Indian food ?! The texture was completely off. Just rice in a very plain wet sauce with dry over cooked chicken and vegetables. I returned it and they refunded me. No Indian would ever want this food. I can only imagine the good reviews are people who have never had Indian food. read more

I was introduced to this spot by a friend and we took the drive out to Lagunitas tonight. It's a lovely drive and only about fifteen minutes from Fairfax. Although there was still some smoke in the air, it was beautiful weather and the perfect temperature to take advantage of their patio seating. It wasn't crowded and we were able to be well spaced from the other couple there tonight. We enjoyed samosas with fluffy, well-spiced potatoes and a crispy golden pastry and my favorite, Chai on the patio before ordering food to go for me to share with my family at home. For in house diners, they're currently using disposable silverware sets and plates and they were sanitizing the tables as we arrived. Everything was well packed to ensure there wasn't any chance of leaking or spilling. The meat was tender and the sauce for the Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent. Nothing was too spicy for me or my kids and it all made the trip and was still warm when I unpacked it. The vegetables still had a nice firm texture. Everyone was wearing masks at the restaurant and they were friendly and kind. I'm glad we made the drive. read more

Food, service, and dining atmosphere was very good. I had the chicken tikka masala and the mozzarella naan bread. There was also a side of white rice. The chicken tikka masala was fresh and tasty. The mozzarella naan bread was obviously very fresh, and it too tasted quite good. But strangely, the white rice was actually the highlight of the meal. It was garnished with fresh peas, carrots, and was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding. Parking is convenient. Bathroom was relatively clean. Most importantly: all of the staff were carefully following covid-19 safety precautions. read more

We came here for a lunch on the weekend. It's a bit of a smaller space, so if you have a larger group seating may be difficult. In addition, the wait time for food after ordering was around 30-40 minutes because of how crowded it was. However, we can see why it was so popular as the food was really good. We got the dal makhni, chicken kadhai, and bharta, which we had with garlic naan, mango lassi, and raita. We then had the kheer and kulfi for desert. We asked for it to not be spicy at all, and they were able to do a wonderful job with that while still keeping it flavorful. The portion size of the mains was great, and the kheer was a really large portion. The garlic naan was one of the best we've had, and you could tell everything was being freshly prepared. Artis is probably the best Indian food in Marin county! I love this restaurant and the people that work there. They are all so kind, friendly, and all very attentive. During the holiday season they even put on a community lunch and gave away huge plates of several different items and even had vegetarian and vegan options available! Pretty special thing for a small business to do for their customers and community, especially in this day and age when so many restaurants are struggling. Their restaurant is also nicely put together, has a warm ambiance even though the restaurant is small inside, and have a nice patio area to sit outside when the weather permits it. So many good things to say about this restaurant, the owners, and their staff! This place is and will continue to be one of my go to spots in Marin County! read more

If anyone is visiting Point Rey's, stop by this restaurant for lunch. Food is awesome . I ordered Aloo Parantha with Goanese coconut vegetable curry and Mango chutney. As I was tempted by delicious mouthwatering food, couldn't resist myself from ordering Indian masala chai (tea) [ posted picture as well]. Chai came in a nice decorated cup with cane sugar aside. Decided to pull over when I saw a sign advertising Indian food on the side of the road, and am so glad I did. Amazing atmosphere, the outside seating is wonderful on a beautiful patio surrounded by trees, very quiet and peaceful. The food is also excellent, perhaps the most tender lamb I have ever eaten. Zero flavor. I'm a white guy who grew up in a small midwest town. I know boring food. I grew up eating bland meat and potatoes. I later lived in Europe and Asia. I love Indian food. Not the super hot English version but the south east asian type full in rich flavor. I was expecting authentic Indian. What I got was not. Both the chicken tikka masala and the mushroom saag literally had no flavor. Blindfolded, I would never have know I was eating Indian food. The staff is friendly and the outdoor space in lovely, however the food has NO flavor. I wanted to like it and was extremely dissapointed. Been meaning to leave my compliments to Arti since ending up there recently, dehydrated after a long hot hike, and was kindly given as much fresh water as I needed. Thank you so much! Had to dash to catch the infrequent bus, otherwise I would have stopped to eat. The menu is full of familiar Indian dishes which I mentally salivated over, like bhaji and chapati, and of course the restaurant smelt of delicious spices and vegetables cooking. You can possibly tell that I miss proper Indian food, being a Brit--great Indian food is part of the culture all over the UK and Arti definitely reminded me of my favourite places I was lucky to eat at over there. Next time I plan to eat at Arti to more leisurely take in the stunningly beautiful surroundings while exploring their lovely menu! read more

Well another great restaurant gotta review to help drive well earned business to them. My son and I going out to the coast made quick stop for him, while I waited I spoke with Arti, he was very friendly and authentic. We talked for a bit and when son came out invited him into convo, which for them being two soccer passionate fans was awesome. My son is 18yo and huge Chelsea soccer fan. Arti is different team fan but his daughter is huge Chelsea fan and he actually has like a 3 foot wide emblem on truck door to honor her love of Chelsea..wow what a cool dad seriously.. So while waiting inside for son I noticed the tasty dishes and great vibe, energy and decor and Arti and staff are wonderful people and restaurant owners. I noticed how every customer was enjoying their food and experience. Arti's warmth and genuine kindness and care of all customers really contributes to customers enjoying an awesome casual dining experience. Great food great vibes and experience summa it up best. God knows ate Covid and all going on the world and in life we could all use more positive vibes and times. So we had different destination that day but made a friend and swore to go back which we did about two weeks later which was about 2 weeks ago. Now we are on the list of happy customers having eaten there. The food was delicious, fast and were glad we went back. Tried a few foods hadn't eaten. I wish it was closer to me in Kentfield but ya know what what a great relaxing drive to West Marin so beautiful peaceful to drive to Arti's to then enjoy great experience and food. It's worth the drive period..don't take my word for it, check it out yourself. Apologies for long review, wanted to share overall experiences. Had Arti not been so awesome the first visit son had to use bathroom, we wouldn't have gone back but a testament to Arti led to us going back and snap here I am writing..:-).
