Redding has a bad reputation, but the Hilton Garden Inn is a very nice place to lay your head down for the night. The restaurant is actually REALLY good. We stayed here on our way to Santa Maria and decided to stay again because the breakfast is amazing and cheaper than you would get anywhere else. Katelyn and Lisa were the most helpful and friendly servers. We have 1 more stop in Oregon to finish up our trip. My bucket is full and my full exhale will help me not just make it to the end of the year, but enjoy it. read more

Stayed here last month with my husband and young boys. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and made sure we had a wonderful stay. I appreciate that they had pack n plays for our baby so we didn't have to travel with one extra thing in the car. Hotel was very family friendly. The room itself was clean and had the necessities. The restaurant on site was surprisingly good. And the staff were very attentive and kind. We visited Burney Falls which was about 1 hour drive from here. But it was nice to be close to a city instead of out in the middle of nowhere. Literally the perfect location for shopping, gas, food, casino and it's right off the freeway. I got upgraded for free to level 3 with a "view". I wouldn't call it a view, more like trees and trails with a itty bitty view of the river. Maybe the rooms to my right have a better view. One of the towels had a black curly coarse hair on it. We stayed at this hotel on a last-minute trip and had a great overall experience. We initially checked prices on Hotels.com and Expedia, but when we went inside, the front desk offered us a better deal, about $40 cheaper than the online rates, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was very clean, and the entire hotel was well-maintained. We were very comfortable during our stay. The only downside was that the telephone in our room did not work, and we were unable to access the complimentary internet/Wi-Fi. We stayed here only 1 night, and being Hilton honors members, we've stayed at different Hilton Garden Inns, but by far this HGI is the best one yet-- maybe ever? My husband checked us in, but I am sure the welcome was very friendly--he verified that . The room didn't have a smell, the bathroom layout is practical-- I didn't have to try to figure out where to put my towel and though the vanity is small it accommodated my toiletries. I have yet to experience the food service, but I have no doubt that it is also great! You can't hear the freeway (it's close to I-5 and on a busy street ) Will be sure to stay here the next time we're in this area! read more

Made a last minute reservation as I was staying the night for work. Located right off of I-5 & near Costco & other shopping or dining. Oh! & across the street from Chevron! So strategically placed! Plenty of on site free parking. I checked in on the app, but make it a point to grab a card just in case. The woman at the desk was friendly & courteous. The room was spacious, clean & the heater was on a snuggling welcome temp as it's pretty cold in the Redding area right now. I had the best nights rest that I woke up a couple hours before my alarm. Have been staying here for 3 nights and used the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and happy hour while working. The ladies were nice and accommodating. The place was empty so we were the few customers they had. We came back to work in the afternoon again and was accosted by a man who was so mean he barked at us for coming into the empty restaurant to work. He was aggressive and scary. This place is a front for something else. It has no energy. No music plays in the lobby or restaurant. There is a dark feeling here and I felt uncomfortable and scared at night. Especially after the man barked at us I am leaving a night early! Stay away! read more

A reasonable fixed price turns basically the whole menu into a kind of cooked-to-order buffet. An attentive and friendly server offered seconds, extra sides, and frequent coffee refills. Stayed a few nights here during the rain so wasn't able to get out much. Lucky for me the the room was comfy and the staff genuinely fabulous. My only complaint was I was on level two and I could hear ever step of the loud person on the third floor. Also the thermostat light is extremely bright and never turns off. Minor issues overall. I booked a weekend stay at the Hilton recently - it was my first quarantine trip, so understandably, I was pretty uncomfortable. Booked in advance, but I was unsure whether I could go due to the fires and air quality, but I'm really happy everything worked out so I could go! Upon arrival, they did temperature checks and check in was smooth; they gave us keurig coffee pods/cream/sugar/etc and two bottles of water. When we entered our room, I was super delighted to see that they got us balloons and cookies. I specified in the notes section that the trip was for my boyfriend's birthday, so I thought it was such a sweet gesture. I used to work in hospitality and these little things count. I brought my own alcohol wipes so the first thing I did was wipe down all touch points in the hotel room (handles, sinks, light switches, remotes, desk, etc). I'm sure the cleaning people did their jobs, but this was just to ease my anxiety haha During my stay (and pre-stay), I encountered Manny, Shawn, and Tiana - all were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thanks to them, I felt comfortable during my trip. I'd def recommend anyone coming to Redding to stay here and I look forward to returning sometime in the near future! The carpet on the first floor to our room was so dirty, if you dumped a cup of water it would have turned into mud. Our shower still had hair in it as well as pink slime on the caulking. Our feet turned black from walking around on the carpet in our room. Finally, just when you think it couldn't get any worse, when the sun peeked through the curtains the next morning, we could see so many adult hand prints on the headboards of the beds (not ours). Cringy. I couldn't relax at all because I felt like everything was contaminated. IF you have no choice but to stay here, I highly recommend exposing your room to Luminol and a black light BEFORE deciding on whether or not to stay in your room. For a roadside inn this is just da bomb! The rooms are spaciously clean and very well appointed. Being a Hilton Honors member is a plus. Most of these Hilton Inns are great. At 4pm Happy Hour begins. I will give it an okay. I stayed for dinner which was also okay.. Six of us went to dinner tonight at the Hilton Garden Inn. We like going there because it's quiet so we can visit. The food is pretty good, and the bar is OK. Service is usually decent. We erred, and neglected to make a reservation. While usually pretty quiet on a Tuesday night, they were fairly busy. When we walked in, the lone server approached us and asked "Can I help you?" Not exactly how I think I would greet someone walking into a restaurant. When we said we were six for dinner, he looked around and said, "Give me a few minutes". We went and sat down in a corner and after about 20 minutes, my husband got up and walked over to ask him how much longer it might be. His greeting again was "Can I help you?" Then in response to my husband's question, he said he really didn't know. It could be an hour. No words of apology or any sign whatsoever that he even cared. There were probably 12 to 15 people in there and he was a one-man show - server, busser, bartender. Clearly he had his hands full, and really didn't care to have any more people to wait on. People who work in the food service industry are usually quite dependent on their tips. I have to wonder why anyone who is not customer service oriented would want to work in a job like that. We are all very fair tippers, and he went home short a good amount of money tonight, as we left and went elsewhere. read more

We drove from Tacoma, Washington to this hotel. We had a room reserved and ready when we arrived. We checked in around 8:30pm and found out their restaurant was still open for an hour so we were thrilled that we didn't have to go find dining or just get snacks from the lobby as we were tired from our day of driving. Galen was our server and he was such a delight. He was funny, kind, and just an all around great guy and we were so glad he was there to take care of us. The staff were very friendly and the check in process was so simple and quick. Our room was very clean and nice and we just really feel so comfortable here. We will use this hotel again if in the area and need somewhere to stay. Perhaps on our drive back to Washington. read more

Nice enough hotel. Overall its a fine place to stay if your traveling. The hotel is clearly quite old and it shows. The lobby is nice and updated but the rooms have old tubs and tile that isn't quite up to what Id expect from a Hilton. But its not a deal breaker. The reason for the 4 stars is the scary letter you get when you check in. Clearly this hotel is in a really bad area. The letter I was given was explained to me as "Some information about our property." It reads more like a warning to be alert and not let your guard down. The letter suggests you don't wear any nice jewelry around the hotel. Also advises you to not answer your door for anyone, not to discuss or display your room number or key, to use the safe deposit boxes if you have any belongings and warns you of possible car break ins. It also asks you to call 911 instead of the front desk if you have an emergency. It seems they have had problems with guests being robbed, or injured by others. I don't know why there isn't a security force in place here. The breakfast provided by the hotel was outstanding and the service we received at breakfast was just as good as the food. Overall a fine place, but I just didnt feel safe here. read more

Stayed here for a day. Hotel is decent. However, not happy with the business practice in this hotel. They initially told me breakfast is complimentary for being gold member during checkin. The person in charge of breakfast, told they take orders here and mentioned the same that it would be complimentary for being gold member. This rating would have been 4-star were it not for one of the restaurant employees failing to comply with the covid-19 guidelines. One of the restaurant employees, a tall, thin, older man with a big bushy mustache, was not wearing his mask while working in the restaurant. He kept the mask pulled down over his chin most of the time. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable. I called the restaurant to discuss my order. Both the tacos and mashed potatoes had dairy in them when I specifically asked for it without. They told me to talk to DoorDash. Nothing was resolved. We had a stop over at the Hilton on our drive home up north. It was absolutely perfect for us. We were able to reserve quickly and parking was free. The room was ready when we arrived and we were able to load up the luggage rack and bring everything into the room. The concierge workers were incredibly welcoming. They checked us in and we went right up. Room was spacious and clean. We were exhausted and it was great to flop into bed. The bathroom was clean with supplies aplenty. At one point we went out to grab dinner and as we were walking back to our room, the concierge chased us down and provided plates and cutlery. Extremely thoughtful and kind. We appreciated the hospitality and comfortable beds. If we need to stay again on our drive up north, we will absolutely choose the Hilton! read more

Hotel is centrally located with some establishments nearby such as gas station, COSTCO, Panda Express, in n out etc. HH gold/AMEX Platinum member, we were able to book reservations for two rooms for 1night stay using the app. Upon check in, front desk staff graciously updated our reservation to connecting rooms. Check in was a breeze, both front desk attendants were nice and helpful. They gave us some information on places and things to do in the area. There's a bar/restaurant in the lobby. Pool/spa, exercise room, laundry room and conference room/s. However, there's no charging station nearby. They offered us some kind of extension that we can plug our charger in, but we opted to use the nearest Tesla supercharger (10mins from the hotel). The rooms are ok. Clean and spacious. Although, the bathrooms and carpet could use some updating. Pretty much straightforward. Basic toiletries in the bathroom include: shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash and towels. Toothbrush and toothpaste are available upon request. Basic appliances in the room include: a microwave, coffee maker, fridge and flat screen TV. Front desk and housekeeping staff respond promptly to customer's needs. read more

Over the past six months we've had four separate one-night stays at this hotel. It's a nice, clean place, but the employees really make it 5-stars. The front desk people are so helpful and cheerful. They're quick to respond on the app or in person. Our favorite employees are the women working at the breakfast. They are so sweet to us and our kids. They remembered us from past visits and are just friendly and hardworking. Lots of parking out front and the Diamond reserved parking always had space available. Next door is a gas station with convenience store and across the freeway - driving, not really walkable - is a Panda Express, In N Out, Starbucks, and another gas station. Great location just off the freeway for those I-5 road trips. read more

Where do i start... I called days ahead of time letting them know that I would be traveling with somebody that had celiac disease. I verified with them that their kitchen would be able to handle this and that none of the products that we're going to be in my room would have anything that somebody that had celiac disease would be allergic to. Fast forward to check in time I get to my room and there are stains all over my bed I brought it to their attention and I was told that I had to change my own sheets. This is a horrible representation of a Hilton property. My friend then had a severe allergic reaction to their lotion they had told me that everything would be Celiac approved and sure enough she had a reaction. The next morning was a disaster. We go down and we sit for breakfast that is supposed to come with my booking as a diamond member. The waitress was so disrespectful and rolled her eyes when my friend was asking about gluten-free options because of her celiac disease. The woman was so rude that we decided not to eat there because she had no respect for an illness such as this. I then asked for a receipt for my stay and was told that I could not have one. This is a horrible property and maybe other people will have better options and better experiences but not me. read more

Nice hotel, with great front desk staff. The hotel is certainly clean, has a big conference room, nice exercise room, good pool and jacuzzi, spacious parking spaces. They have security at night, a cat or two live there and a nice bunch of turkeys roam around. I had dinner and breakfast at their restaurant. Breakfast costs $13.95 including taxes and it was my favorite due to the food and the service. You can get unlimited coffee and orange juice, the chef's special, omelette or eggs prepared the way you like them. They also have a section for fruit, pastries, toast, etc. the ladies working there are very sweet. The dinner experience was a little different as I sat in their very small bar lounge counter. Two guys and a cook were working there. The food was excellent but the service wasn't too great. There is a lot of miscommunication between the staff and it causes confusion with the patrons. Service and food are great. It's pricey though. I also stay here when working in Redding. The rooms are consistently clean and comfy. They have a fitness center, pool and spa. The breakfast is great as long as you are there after 6 am. I usually start early so I miss them at times. read more

This is my first stay at this hotel and I have been so pleased with the service I've received here. From the shuttle driver to the front desk to the service in the restaurant, excellence all around! My room was exceptionally clean, cooled off despite the major heat wave happening here, and so inviting. The pool was nice to dip into after the sun went down as well. Absolutely horrible customer service- distinctly by the 11-7 shift, Travis. We frequent Hiltons and Marriotts and usually stay at the Sheraton in this area but HGI's are usually great and this was closer to her office- big mistake. Never have had a Hilton cancel a room booked through corporate booking system (Concur) secured with company card. Either front desk was incompetent or unfamiliar with the system either way a recipe for poor customer experience. Never thought I'd be writing a poor review for a Hilton. read more

One of the best reasons for staying at at Hilton Garden Inn- is the bar and grill they offer. So many times, when traveling, one doesn't want to leave the hotel and being able to get a late night bite or cocktail before bed, is wonderful! This Hilton Garden was very clean and helpful staff. I called this hotel instead of booking online for two specific reasons. I wanted a top floor room that was pet friendly for our dog. A room was available for our dates and I was quoted a price so I booked over the phone. We checked in and while we were bringing in our luggage and pooch, front desk informed me that there was a $75 pet fee and no notes on our reservation about a dog, which I mentioned at least 3 times during booking.....Swing and a miss.....we were tired, and reluctantly paid the fee. After going back and forth with front desk, the night supervisor called us and said we could discuss reducing the fee upon checkout. I thought it was odd we had to wait for checkout, but whatever, I was exhausted. Should have known better... Upon checkout, I was told there were no notes about reducing the fee and that there was nothing they could do since management would not be there until Monday. No supervisor present either....STRIKE 2!!! Frustrated and feeling deceived, I called Hilton customer service and filed a complaint. When I finally got a response two days later, I was told that I should have been aware of pet fee because it is on their WEBSITE, which I never even visited.....STRIKE 3!!!! Hubby and I stayed 2 nights here and we were very impressed. We had a king bed in a 2nd floor room which was very clean, comfortable and large. We purchased the " breakfast" with our room not knowing what that meant. The hotel has a nice cafe on the main floor that offers food to purchase 24/7. We had a delicious breakfast both mornings of our stay. The $14.95 cost was included in our room price. It looks like there might usually be a buffet but not now due to Covid. We were seated and given menus which had a very nice selection of food and we could have everything or some! We had nice servers and were very comfortable. Parking was easy. Front desk people were also very nice and helpful. We hope to stay again when we are in the area but live about 4 hrs away, perfect for a weekend get away. read more
