We're locals...but not crazy. A breakfast here on the weekend is more of an event than breakfast;) The dark, happening, vintage bar is very inviting. The double Bloody Mary's help. Pro tip: Smile at the waitress, ask for the chili bean omelette with cheese and diced tomatoes. It's not on the menu but they'll make it...if you smile:) Lots of love for this place. read more

I eat at Lulu's twice a month or more with family or friends. It's a good old fashioned diner with a full bar separated by the front entry area. There's also a large dining room in the back, not always open. The coffee shop interior is nothing to write home about, very dated, but that's part of the comfort. The bar is very dark and depending on how busy, can be very noisy. The food is consistently good, prepared to order. We have never had a complaint of any kind! My favorites: Irish eggs Benedict, shrimp salad, patty melt (great fries), fish and chips, Bloody Mary. Service is always good, friendly, with the occasional rush slowing things down. We never mind waiting a few extra minutes - busy means good! read more

Haven't been here for 40 years, first date my husband took me on, food was great then, we decided to try it again, it was wonderful! Had prime rib, medium rare, husband had steak, very good! May I say, I'm impressed they cook prime rib every day of the week. After having dinner at Jack's Grill, the waitress referred us to Lulu's (Jack's sister restaurant). Well, we were staying in Redding for the week so we had to try it. We were a party of 11 and service was attentive. The food was tasteful. The ambiance was casual and lively. Greatly surprised with the food & service. We had the clams, fish & chips, split pea soup, prime rib sandwich, monte cristo, seafood pasta, burger & appetizer sampler. Everything is a MUST HAVE. Amazing old school ambience. Second time there, seven years apart and great both times. Solid well drinks, cool bartender who picked great tunes on the jukebox. Let's say we loved the breakfast and the service by Jackie was outstanding. Ran the Redding Marathon and big decision to eat post race. Big menu. Lots of choices. Our server Jackie promptly greeted us. Coffee fresh and hot! Now help me decide. She made a few recos and sold us on waffles. I went with her Apple waffle. We also did a plain. Sides of fresh hot hash browns. Truly crisp and perfect . Bacon was thicker and fab taste and consistency. Jackie was attentive and friendly and you could tell a professional server. Went there this evening for Thanksgiving prime rib. All the food was cold and disgusting. You have to be super drunk and sit in the bar section to be able to tolerate their food. I've been going to LuLus since 1985 and there was a super brief period where their food was awesome. Around Covid time. Since then I go there hoping for "this time will be different". I only took two bites of prime rib and 2 hours later I'm still vomiting. read more

We had a 5 hour trip from San Jose, Ca and stayed at the near by Hotel we were suppose to go to Trendy's but this was so close that we decided to come to this establishment. The food was really good and the waffles sandwiches was delicious. The coffee was great with refills. The service was on point, they were all very friendly and accommodating. I literally forgot my two Hydroflask that I just bought to use and they ran out to chase us to return them. Wow!! That's what you called super service. We had a work related Christmas party here. (About 20 people) In my opinion the price was a little high for the caliber of the restaurant. The food: My wife had the New york steak and asked for it medium rare. It came out super well done to the point that it was tough. I had the prime rib, no major complaints, maybe a little underseasoned but not bad. I give 5 stars to the wait staff. We had one primary waitress with a couple of helpers. I wish I could remember her name, but she did a great job. She was friendly, took care of our group well, and handled all the checks without any confusion. The waitress did a great job, thank you. The restaurant I would not recommend, aside from my wife's steak being awful, We both ended up getting sick after dinner. STAY AWAY. UPDATE: Two other people got sick after the eating there that night as well. read more

We felt discriminated against and unwelcomed. They were not friendly. We should have left as soon as we arrived because the vibe was awful but we were told they had great Fried Chicken, which we wanted to eat. The hostess was talking with someone at the counter and completely ignored us. We had to ask where to sit and how we could order To Go. Once we sat at the counter, we had to get our own menus and wait while another couple came in after us and was seated right away. The waitress gave them menus and even spoke to them for a couple of minutes. Finally, after more than 5 minutes, the hostess came to us and asked what we wanted to order. We asked about the Fried Chicken and she proceeded to inform us that they no longer sell Fried Chicken. She suggested we should go some other random place that sells chicken and tortillas. WTH? The food was on the high side of average. We went in for the first time for breakfast at a little after 9:30 on a Sunday. The problems started and ended with the terrible service staff. Waitress wasn't busy but kept us waiting for menus, coffee was burnt, no refills on drinks, wrong check, had to ask multiple times for a to go box. The food was on the good side of average but for the same price I could get the same at any number of places in town. One chance at a first impression and I'm never bothering with Lulu's again. read more

This is very cool place. They have a bar on the other side of the diner area, which I have yet to fully explore, but maybe next time I'm in town. The people here are also very friendly and the food is really good. The first time I came here, they had chicken parmesan as a specialty at that time, and goodness, it was the most impressive looking chicken parmesan ever. It was also very good, and no question about it, it did well reheated after a few days. The second time I came here, it was around 8:30 at night and I honestly thought that they were closing soon, but nope, they said they were now open a little later. I don't remember what it said on the front of the establishment, but they now have longer hours. I got the meatloaf, which was impressive looking as well, and although it wasn't the best meatloaf I've ever had, it was still very good. Thank you Lulu's for good food and next time I'm in town, I'll check out the bar area and I hope for a great time. read more

Firstly, the portions here are HUGE! We ordered the 12oz prime rib dinner set and it came with pasta/rice pilaf , potatoes, salad/soup, two large slices of prime rib and veggies (around $30). If there are two of you coming together, you can definitely ask them to help split the portions. Even for the two of us, we had leftovers to take home..
