Nice hole in the wall locals coffee shop off the side of the road towards a short back road. The business looks like a house with a big porch. Besides the typical coffees and their Hawaiian brews they sell what appears to be home made cookies, which are very tasty. The best place about this place is the quiet nature of this place. Sitting on the front porch in this tranquil setting is comforting. I would give this place a thumbs up.

This place was super sketchy. No one has been here recently (at least reviewed on Yelp). The coffee was average and the older ladies behind the bar couldn't be more unfriendly. There were cats lying around and a very dirty patio where I wasn't interested in enjoying my coffee. Totally skip this place unless you're interested in supporting an obviously local time.

They didn't have any real flavors like vanilla or coconut from the island, just the typical coffee syrups like Starbucks uses

A bit out of the way, but worth the drive for sure! Great coffee, and snacks! Unfortunately we made it right before closing. Next time we'll come much earlier and hopefully get a tour in! We'll be back in a few months! We did bring home some amazing coffee and have been enjoying it so much!

Rachel was amazing! I order the Maui Estates coffee and a muffin. They also ship to the mainland for $16-20 priority mail. I order a bunch of 8oz coffee as gifts and it's amazing not to lug them around for the rest of the trip!! 10/10 They have little gems all over the property including a cute little 18year old cat, who will follow you with the hopes of treats lol

The beautiful grounds of the mill!

My friends and I took a trip to Hawaii and visited the Hilo Coffee Mill. Jeanette and her team were wonderful!! Everyone was very friendly and kind! We even had the pleasure of meeting their assistant tour guide, Lei Lei the cat. If you are a coffee connoisseur and a nature lover, you definitely need to visit! During our tour, we tried some delicious coffee samples and visited the roasting room. (The roasting room smells amazing!) In the roasting room, we reviewed the process Jeanette and her team follow from growing the coffee plant to selling the finished product. Everything they do is natural and without added chemicals or pesticides. The experience was very educational and it is obvious Jeanette knows coffee! After seeing the roasting room, Jeanette took us on a tour of the property. We got to see coffee plants, ti plants, and many other plants grown in their garden and around the property. We even got to see one of their drying houses where they let the coffee beans dry before roasting! Overall, my friends and I had a wonderful time at the Hilo Coffee Mill! After our tour, we tried their house made coffee syrup. The syrup is delicious! We all purchased coffee and used the syrup as our sweetener. Our tour of the Hilo Coffee Mill started our trip off on a very high note! Jeanette and her team truly embody the Aloha spirit. I definitely recommend a visit here! (Some key tips on your trip, please remember COVID was hard on local businesses. Hilo Coffee Mill is a local, "senior-run" coffee mill. Hawaii is also the only producer of US coffee. If a price seems expensive, remember the people who put the work into making your coffee are not from a corporation or franchise. They are a local team doing everything they can to support their business and provide you a quality product. Everything they do is done with care and focus on quality. Please also be open about the experience on your tour! Jeanette has so much information about coffee, plants and nature, and Hawaii to share and she is more than happy to do so!) Mahalo for everything, Jeanette!!

Staff was amazing!! Coffee was super good and the shop was absolutely adorable. We loved the kitty and the chickens greeting us as we came up.

Eh... didn't seem like they were actually using Hawaiian beans. And didn't make a real cappuccino. I don't think we would come back here.

Don't waste your time coming here. Not friendly and no free samples. Very expensive drinks and a muffin for $15 bucks total.

There is something to be said about the view and the fantastic coffee!!!! Wow was it top tier! It feels like a custom tropical treehouse. We sat around her concrete table as we sipped sample after sample of award winning Kona coffee. On the TV we watched a live feed of the volcano. It was such a genuine experience all the way through. She took the time to walk us around the farm and explain the entire process. So much effort goes into making such a delicious cup of coffee. This place is highly recommended. It has extremely limited hours so be sure to be mindful of that .

We were served several tastings of the coffee (7 or 8 small cups) and every cup was delicious! My favorite was the SL34 and I purchased a purchased a pound and half of it. It was genuinely the best coffee farm we had been to...and we've been to several! The view is beautiful as well. The hours are extremely limited so make sure to make plan to come.

Tucked away in the mountains in the south Kona, we were lucky to stumbled upon this unique place. We toured one of its neighbor coffee farms only a few days before we went here so we didn't need to tour another farms. If you end up being in the same situation then go here just to sip some delicious coffee and tea samples and pick up some gifts/souvenirs but most of all, walk around the property to enjoy its stunning environment or just sit in one of the lawn chairs to read a book or quietly meditate. That's exactly what we did. The workers we interacted with were there to give you hospitality. They never force you to buy anything. We hadn't had coffee just yet as we went here mid to late morning so after sampling some coffees and teas we were going to buy some cups of coffee to truly drink a full cup but they didn't even let us; they gave us free of everything (from some complimentary cookies to nuts to munch. What a generous gesture that was!!) After that, we sat in the lawn chairs and spent at least an hour in the spacious yard that overlooks the ocean for some journaling and meditation. With the view and the nature that surrounded us, we were truly healed from inside out. We got to meet and pet all sorts of farm animals. While walking around, one of the female workers (who greeted us upon arrival) came and educate us on all kinds of tropical plants, trees and flowers. She was so personable to us where she truly wanted to get to know us. The hospitality is top-notch at this place. On top of the farm tour, tea ceremonies and coffee tastings they do, they also offer yoga (I think that's what she said), and (possibly) massages. This place is so much more than a typical coffee/tea farm. But most of all, its stunning 80-acre property is in itself a place for people to rejuvenate/recharge/meditate so they'll be refreshed in mind and spirit as they walk away from it. This is like everyone's dream place to work and live. You got to put this place on your "must visit" list while you are in Kona.

At first glance, it may look like other small, local shops, with locally made products and a few interesting goods to browse. (I ended up buying the last 'I'iwi bird pin they had on display, which I loved!) After reading some other reviews, I realized we may have just gotten lucky because the owner happened to be in that day. Let me say this upfront: they advertise slow black coffee and they mean it! The owner (Brian?) takes his time with each customer, chatting with you to understand what you're looking for and making some suggestions. It's clear he enjoys both his craft and engaging with customers. It was not very busy while we were there, which added to that relaxed, Hawaiian vacation vibe. We really enjoyed the conversation with him and even walked away having learned a few new things. We took our coffee and other purchases to enjoy on the bench outside, along with some stone cookies from nearby. (There were also additional tables and chairs available on a side patio.) Overall, we loved both the experience and the coffee, and we will definitely plan to stop by again the next time we are in the area!
