While the food was good and brought out fresh. The service was not well, our original waitress stopped serving us after bringing out drinks to take a phone call at the table in front of us... it was very unprofessional. The adobo fried rice? Delicious but I would advise against ordering clam chowder to go, which is a special they offer. They package it in a takeout container like this which proceeded to spill over in the paper bag onto my plate lunch. Then I was given a fork to eat it instead of a spoon. I ended up dumping it because of the mess that it made. I walked in and told them that it spilled and I needed napkins to clean up my plate, but there was no offer to remedy what had happened. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. There is ample parking, it was easy to find, and the service is top notch!! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and was able to choose where we wanted to sit. The staff came and brought out 2 large cups of ice water and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We both ordered coffee and it came in giant mugs with free refills. Naialyn was our server and she greeted us and was hospitable. We placed our orders and the food came out fairly quickly. We started with Walk Thru The Country consisting of Banana's Foster French toast which was moist and sweet but not overly sweet, topped with bananas and fresh whipped cream. Strawberry Waffle which was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with strawberry compote and fresh whipped cream. And Lilikoi Pancakes which were fluffy however I could not taste the Lilikoi flavor. Meat Lovers Scrambler was brought out with Da Bruddahs Breakfast. Both offered the perfect portion where the eggs were made perfectly keeping the eggs fluffy, breakfast potatoes cooked well and not overcooked, biscuits tasted homemade, and the English muffin was crisp on top, I absolutely loved that. I added butter and grape jelly and it was a treat. They had a live performer, Tupahu, who played mellow but fun music. That just added to the ambiance making is feel like we were part of their ohana. Let me start by saying the service was very friendly! They do work to make you as happy as possible. The waitresses had cowboy boots and were sweet. Hubby and I came for breakfast. Food is okay, but not really that great. French toast came out not very hot, and I didn't care for their homemade corned beef hash ( yes, I've tasted it before). I asked for bacon instead. Had breakfast here on a weekend. The seating area is quite large and most of the tables were taken. Luckily there were a few tables available. The staff was quick and attentive. I would have given a 4 if fried rice was average. Ordered the adobo fried rice. The pork was great, a bit fatty (good) and almost melt in your mouth texture. Sunny side up eggs were also good. But it was a fried rice. I only expected the average fried rice and would have given it a 4. But the rice doesn't even felt like fried, it was wet (but not oily like duck fried rice), and kind of soured, weird texture and taste. Maybe it is just Filipino/islander fried rice? The food was excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. I had the loco moco and my wife had the counter fried steak and a side of chocolate chip pancakes. The restaurant is tucked away in a little shopping mall between Foodland and the Ace Hardware. It's a little out of the way but totally worth a stop if your are hungry. The only complaint I had was that the food was too good, the portions too large, and now my belly is too full. Love it and next time we are here we will definitely be stopping in again. read more

Food was average. Enjoyed the country potatoes and veggie omelette. The biscuits and gravy seemed a bit store-bought. More of a brown gravy than a white breakfast gravy. And small portion. They charge a 3% if using a credit card. I feel you could find a better place. They were very busy but we got service with a smile right away, good coffee, and I absolutely loved the breakfast burrito with tots on the side. Meaty and cheesy and wonderful. Could only eat half. Some notable dishes were the adobo fried rice, meat scrambler, west side omelette, and MY favorite of everything: the LILIKOI BISCUITS. A must-try item. So buttery, flavorful, and delicious. I am a pescatarian and I ended up getting the veggie Benedict with added salmon lox on top and it was everything I wanted. The hollandaise sauce was soooo ono. Service was outstanding, lovely smiling faces accommodating to our needs. I asked for extra hollandaise and was provided without hesitation. I barely give reviews but must give credit where credit is due. A true country breakfast with an immersive atmosphere and immaculate vibes for sure. Can't recommend enough. My wife and I have tried to dine at the Countryside Cafe in Maili, but it was always too crowded. So, while in Hilo my son took me to the Countryside Cafe in Keeau. I don't know if it is the same restaurant but it sure looks like the one in Maili. We got there at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty empty. I ordered the hamburger steak and my son had the loco moco. The meals were delicious. The beef patty was one of the better one's I ever had in a hamburger steak plate. My son raved about his loco loco. The gravy they make here is outstanding, seasoned just right. The restaurant pretty much filled up by the time we were done. There are so any other things I want to try on the menu that I know I will be back the next time I fly in.
