First time trying Hillstone and the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. The restaurant sits right on the lake in Winter Park and the view really sets the tone for the whole experience. It has that perfect mix of upscale but still relaxed, making it a great spot for a date night or dinner with friends. The food was solid and well prepared. Everything tasted fresh and you can tell they focus on quality ingredients and consistency, which I can definitely appreciate. Service was okay not bad. Our server handled everything we needed, but the experience felt a little more transactional than warm or engaging. Overall, the beautiful setting and reliable food make Hillstone a place I'd come back to, especially for the lake views.

This is not the review I wanted to be writing for one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando, but this visit did not stand up to our many positive past experiences and I sincerely hope it was a one off. My husband and I were dining on Monday the day after valentines, so they were slammed and understandably the service was much slower than usual. We ordered spinach artichoke dip and rosemary focaccia to start, both of which were superb as always. For dinner my husband ordered the burger and fries and I ordered the filet medium. By the time they came we had been there nearly and hour and a quarter, despite not having drinks and ordering starters as soon as we sat. The waiter dropped them off and then went to take orders at a large and needy table behind us. As I am nursing I cut through my filet to check the temp and was shocked to find it decidedly rare, not medium. I sat waiting for our waiter to come back but he was occupied taking orders and did not glance our way. After about 10 minutes, as I was famished, we waved over another waitress passing by and she agreed to take the steak back. She took my plate and said they would bring me an all new one. We also asked if my husband's fries could be replaced as they arrived completely cold and dry. It was quite awhile before my filet returned, and I was brought back the same meat on a new plate. That is fine but I was a bit surprise as the way she worded it when she took it made it sound like she'd be bringing a fresh one. Due to being recooked it was a bit burnt on the exterior and dry on the interior but I was happy to have it back and began to eat it. A couple bites in I noticed a short hair on my fork. This is embarrassing to admit but I was hungry so I removed it and kept eating. The next bite also had a hair, so I cut again and sure enough the third bite had another one! My hair is extremely long and my husbands is extremely short, the hairs were definitely not our own. At that point it didn't feel sanitary to eat and we asked to speak to a manager. He offered to bring us a new filet, an extra starter of focaccia in lieu of replacement sides, and to not charge us for the filet. I appreciated the effort but to my shock the filet again came out quite rare. He watched me cut it and at my hesitation asked if I would prefer it medium well instead of medium. Honestly that might be what bothered me most about the night - him implying that it WAS medium when it was definitely rare. I said it was okay as at that point we had been there for two hours and we needed to get home to our babysitter, so I decided to just reheat it at home. Overall, while we appreciate that they were extremely busy, it was not the level of cleanliness, service, or taste that we have come to expect from hillstone. We probably won't return for a while and when we do we hope things will have settled back to prior stellar experiences.

If I could give this place more stars, I would. I was waiting for a special occasion to visit this restaurant. My partner and I were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 10th anniversary and several people told us this place was a wonderful spot to celebrate an anniversary. Of course it was pouring when we pulled in, but they have valet parking and the valet got me out of the car then let me take his umbrella into the restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The seater told us our server would be with us shortly but took our drink orders. I ordered the crisp martini and it was so delightful. When our server arrived, she suggested the spinach and artichoke dip. I was very impressed. It came with sour cream and salsa which threw me off, but I actually really enjoyed having other things to dip the chips in. While we were enjoying our appetizer, the weather improved and the sun was starting to set. Because this was our first visit, we asked the server if we could leave the table to go outside and take a photo, which is allowed. We were outside for maybe 10 minutes. When we returned to our table, the server came over with a frozen martini glass and transferred my drink into. Wow! I have never had something like this happen before. Literally so impressed. For dinner, I ordered the pan-asian noodle salad with barbecue pork. The portion was huge! It took me three days to eat at all. So good! I'm not a huge pork person, but I liked it with all the flavors in the salad. Since this was our first visit, we wanted dessert, but we were so full. We got their key lime pie to go. Unlike any other pie I've had! The crust was like crushed up graham crackers and the flavor was anazing!

I love coming here for the Hawaiian steak and the emerald kale chicken salad . They're my favorite dishes of all time . Steak is cooked to perfect juicy sweet with pineapple flavor and absolutely perfect proteins for a keto diet diabetic diets . The kale chicken salad was so delicious with peanut sauce

I LOVE Hillstone! This is a great date night spot (recommended to make reservations for right before sundown so that you can see the sunset). There is a beautiful, small pier that you can walk outside onto. There's seating there as well for lounging. There's also seating by the walkway to the pier, and if I'm not mistaken, I think I've seen a firepit before, I'm not sure. But all in all, it is a beautiful restaurant. The servers are personable and are good at their jobs. The food?! The food is DELICIOUS. This time, I had more than my usual (knife and fork barbeque ribs that quite literally fall off the bone). My mom and I shared the Jalepeño Queso with tortillas and the Southern Style Brussel Sprouts with lemon aioli and reggiano. The queso isn't my thing but it was yummy, and the brussel sprouts? I dislike brussel sprouts but I loved these. That lemon aioli was chefs kiss! My mom ordered the crab cakes and she let me try them. I might be getting those the next time! The drinks are good too. I usually get margaritas, but this time I had the Jackrabbit, which tasted very similar to a paloma but served up. I recommend Hillstone over and over and over again!

Delicious! Well prepared and well served food. Had a delicious meal and the service was excellent. I had the filet, which was done perfectly and he had the French dip which he thoroughly enjoyed! And the deserts were delicious! Relaxing atmosphere, we relaxed and truly enjoyed ourselves.

We haven't been to Hillstone Restaurant for quite some time because they never change their menu. So today we thought we would give them another try. Their lunch menu has a lot to be desired! Again, the same ole, same ole. Geeezzzz We love the ambiance, service is impeccable, but we are done with this restaurant. We had our martini, and now we're headed to Fleming's Steakhouse. Should have gone there to begin with. Live and learn.

Hillstone Restaurant located in the Winter Park is a gorgeous little Mid-Century Modern restaurant located directly on a lake. If you are lucky enough to be seated in a window seat you'll get sweeping views of the water (imagine how gorgeous this is at golden hour and sunset) We were there to celebrate our 6th micro wedding anniversary and initially requested a table on the patio but the winter storm had other plans. They did accommodate us by making sure we did get a window seat which was really sweet of them. Staff: Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and checked in us just often enough but not *too much*. I nursed my martini a bit and when our server noticed my glass had thawed she brought a new chilled glass and switched them out. No prompting at all. The vibe: This is a Mid-Century Modern inspired steakhouse. It's moody. It's masculine. Items sexy in a sort of 21 century Mad Men kind of way. Perfect for a date night & would make an excellent first date if that's the vibe you are going for. But it is dark so he warmed. And for the fashion lovers-don't wait to take our outfit selfie there. We did this and it ended up being far too dark. It was quite loud as there are very few soft surfaces so be prepared. The Order: "Crisp Martini" (9/10): the house martini. Gin based. They add lime instead of orange & a bit of St. Germane and it was delicious. I will be trying to recreate this one at home "Hillstone Negroni" (5/10): my go to. Any time there is a special Negroni I like to try it. This could have been better. While the presentation was lovely, it wasn't mixed well and about half way through the flavors broke down. Once stirred it got better but I should t need to do that & don't know that I would order this again as a result. "Cheeseburger" (7/10): my husband initially ordered a steak but change his mind last min when he just got a craving for a burger. He ordered as is-no changes. He had no complaints other than it was comically tall and had to be squished to be eaten (see photo) making the juice run out all over the bottom bun. He said he would order again French Dip" (6/10): A go-to order of mine. I love a French dip. This was sadly a little underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but you couldn't taste the cheese at all & I kept checking to see if it was even there at all. The meet & dressing were well flavored though and the bread held up to the dressing which is not always the case. If I ordered this again I would asked for extra cheese. Good portion though. I ordered with a side of fries and they were very good. "Key Lime Pie" (10/10) : Another favorite of mine. This was excellent. I prefer my key lime pie to be very tangy with a lot of lime flavor & Custer based rather than whipped. That's how I make Mike and that exactly how they do theirs. It was delicious. The crust was thick and had a rich nutty flavor. It did not crumble. There wasn't *too much* whipped cream. This was perfection. We almost ordered another. I was a little disappointed that there was no recognition of us celebrating our anniversary. I go in for that kind of thing. Obviously they are by no means obligated to do anything and some people may prefer that but I like a little notice of it as there is so little occasion to celebrate anything these days. Not even a so much as a "happy anniversary". I'll give them credit that we had to change our reservation same day so that note may have gotten lost which I think is reasonable assumption. We will absolutely be back. I want to book durring sunset and on the patio as planned. I think it would be an excellent spot for a first date if you want to impress them, or a date night.

Best experience and service! This charming restaurant truly delivers an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. Start your evening with a cocktail or a glass of wine while taking in the sunset on the dock. Their martinis are some of the best I've ever had, and they go above and beyond to make sure every sip stays perfectly chilled with a fresh glass each time. The food was incredible. The salmon, Caesar salad and steak that were all absolute standouts, and I'm already planning to come back for more. Our waitress was so attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared that we had everything we needed. The service was outstanding, and every detail felt thoughtful and intentional. Everything you could want in a restaurant. Great food, amazing service, and a warm, welcoming vibe. Can't recommend it enough!

This spot was the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary. The service was amazing, and the ambiance was very nice. We had a table right against the window, and we were able to watch a beautiful sunset as we dined. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, which was incredible. It was very creamy with a great cheese pull and big chunks of artichokes. I also loved that it comes with salsa and sour cream, so you can play around with different combos. They brought us out more chips when we ran out, which was great. I ordered the Jackrabbit to drink, which was refreshing and delicious. I ended up ordering another one since I liked it so much. I do wish they had an espresso martini on the menu. The Veggie Burger was great, but the patty did fall apart as I ate it. I have come to expect that with pretty much every veggie burger though, so it's not a big deal. The fries were very skinny and were yummy when topped with the house-made fry seasoning they gave me. This place is very pricey, but I think it's totally worth it for special occasions. The service and the ambiance was just so good!

We visited Hillstone on a Sunday around 6:20pm. We had a reservation, but we were early so we sat at the bar in the meantime to enjoy some drinks. We were showed to our table a little before our reservation time, and then we ordered promptly. The service here was excellent start to finish. I was super impressed with the entire crew here. The inside of the restaurant is also beautiful, with its open back wall and lake view. We started with the brussel sprouts which were cooked very nicely and topped with a citrus aioli. This was a simple and well balanced dish, but I think it would make a better side than starter. For mains, I got a special which was an ahi tuna ponzu, and my companion got the arctic char. The tuna ponzu was fantastic, but it was served with a raw tomato with some basil on top which just felt off with the flavor palette. The arctic char was tasty, but the bottom was over blackened. It was extremely bitter with the bottom, so that was mostly left on the plate. It was served with some fresh parsley on the side, which probably would've been a little more useful if it had been chopped. Both mains were served with what can only be called a mountainous side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was good, but there was just so much of it that to eat all of it would mean not tasting anything else on the plate just due to the amount of coleslaw. It felt like the items on the plate were not very intentional (including the garnishes I mentioned earlier). For dessert, we got the apple cobbler which was delicious. It could've used maybe a little more vanilla ice cream, but it was amazing. I'd definitely order that again. I'd be open to trying hillstone again, especially since I've heard great things about the steaks there. I was still impressed with the ahi tuna that I had, but I can say for certain that next time I'll be asking what the accompaniments are and seeing if I can sub out the coleslaw.

Visually appealing, but fell short where it mattered. The ambiance was beautiful--very intimate and thoughtfully done. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to it. I had the ribs and my husband ordered the snapper, and neither of us were impressed. The pricing is more in line with fine dining, but the quality felt closer to diner-level. Honestly, everything we ordered tasted better at Metro Diner, at about a third of the price.

Brunch Review 2026!…read more It's a Saturday in late April 2026 and the Orlando Magic are taking on the #1 rated Detroit Pistons! My brother and I deliberate days before on meeting up and with little hesitation, we opted for the Ravenous Pig! Securing a table reservation we instead opted to sit on the pub side where the TVs are. Soon after sitting down, we were greeted by Christina who was our server for the afternoon! Now this is Brunch Mode at the Ravenous Pig with a brunch style menu and beautiful rays on Sunshine which can feel quite different if you're used to having meals or drinks here for dinner where it can be quite busier and a different vibe! Today's visit was comfortable in the pub, lite in the dining room floor and nearly full outside in the beer garden. I settled in with the current version of the Gin and Jam! It tends to change as products become available with the underlying truth being a lite and refreshing cocktail to start with. This version is well done overall! Food wise we started with the Croquettes which had a sausage in them which brought good flavor paired with the crunchy exterior and white sauce on the plate resulted in an appetizing dish. Continuing on, the Sparkling Tea on menu is fantastic! As a side beverage or even mocktail form, it's a great Bev. We went with that and with the Magic game about to start, I went with the IT GOES TO ELEVEN cocktail! Boozy, Bright and Veracious! With these drinks in hand, we decided to move forward with more food and after consulting with Christina, we went with the Huckleberry pancake and the miso butter ribs. Without a doubt, the Huckleberry pancake was the standout star of the two dishes! A light pancake with great flavor and depth that doesn't fill you up but is a great sweeter dish that I can see Incorporated with a more savory brunch item like bacon and eggs as an example. Overall a great time for brunch! Shout out to Brian, Costa (the GOAT) and Scott for keeping it real and just being great individuals overall!

The snapper collar tacos were the star of the show. Easily enough to share between two people, with fresh fish and really good homemade corn tortillas. The fish of the day was also excellent and the fresh ciabatta with garlic butter was hard to stop eating. The cauliflower appetizer missed the mark a bit for me, the pieces were a little too big and came out slightly undercooked. The chicken salad was just alright, nothing bad but nothing memorable either. Parking can be a little tough in the area, but the complimentary valet makes it much easier. I love that they have a quicker option out back with the beer garden, you can't go wrong!

I got a cheese board, truffled fries, fried chicken caviar, and a deviled affogato for dessert. My date for the creste di gallo and the olive oil citrus cake. Everything was was very good, with the standout being the fries; I know that truffle essence flavor isn't for everyone but it worked really well for me in the fry sauce. My dates pasta was also very good, the pesto sauce was zesty and complimented it well. And I really like the olive oil cake with mascarpone, super light and perfectly sweet. The very minor issues were that the fried chicken was pretty deeply fried and way harder than expected, which I don't mind but may not be your thing. Devil's food cake at the bottom of the affogato was also not as sweet as I would have liked. Overall a really enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.

Two Words . . VERY…read moreRICH I keep forgetting that this restaurant is essentially serving Southern style comfort food in an upscale setting. Southern comfort food as a general rule just doesn't sit well with me anymore and I'm going to be very transparent and bare my soul a little bit here but here goes . . . Ever since being on GLP1's, I've developed a really complicated relationship with comfort food. Foods that are rich, buttery, creamy or fatty now hit me completely differently than they used to. It's almost like my body immediately goes into shutdown mode afterwards. I feel heavy, exhausted and like I've instantly ballooned even if the portions themselves aren't massive. For the longest time I honestly thought it was simply the richness of the food itself but now I realize it's because my digestion just can't process heavier comfort foods the same way anymore. Suddenly... it all makes sense. The food itself here is VERY good. Properly seasoned, well prepared, beautifully presented... absolutely no complaints there whatsoever. I simply have to become more mindful and strategic now with my menu selections no matter WHERE I dine. I chose the Creekstone Farm's NY Strip with the fabulous bone marrow which I KNOW is supposed to be incredibly nutrient rich and good for you... but honestly... it just about put me under afterwards. This dinner happened thanks to Ronnald M. and his sister Teris and it was our pre-opera dinner outing before seeing the fabulous Merry Widow at the Dr. Phillips Center. The Monroe is honestly a very good pre-concert restaurant choice because of both the atmosphere and location... I'm just personally learning that this new GLP1 reality means I can't approach menus the way I used to anymore.

The location had complimentary valet as the street parking can be a little challenging in this area so that was a huge plus. We enjoyed their half price wine glasses during golden hour, such a great offering. From the start of our meal to the end, the food was exceptional. What made it even more of an experience was the awesome waiter (Merlin) we had. He went above and beyond to take care of us. Started with the crab dip and little toasts and it was great, high quality crab (not fishy) and cheesy! Would highly recommend. He recommended the special for the day which I ordered and holy crap, it was amazing. Huge grouper cooked to perfection with a light curry and creamy corn sauce that had just the right heat. All of this over some jasmine rice... we were in heaven. Parents got a fried grouper sandwich that was huge, and had their amazing wedge salads. My brother got the pork chop that had a perfectly sweet exterior, mashed potato's and carrots. We ordered the hummingbird cake and it had so much flavor with the cream cheese frosting and toasted pecans. Our waiter surprised my brother with their butter cake that was cooked to melt in your mouth. If you want to explore Ivanhoe Village area and want an incredible meal or snack, head to this place. We can't wait to go back and try some other items.

We found The Pinery and wanted to give it a trial. The only spot open was at 4:30 pm, so we made the reservation and showed up, valet parking and came in. We were sat immediately. The hostess seemed stressful, without any smiles, she took away 2 out 4 silverware and plate sets on our table for a party of 3. 12 minutes went by. The crowded dining room had 2 servers. A booth of 6 next to us were waiting for their drinks patiently. I finally got up and let the hostess know that nobody stopped by. She said someone would be with us soon. About 4.minutes later, a lady stopped, said sorry, and took our drink orders, a Pineapple Sugar, a Macha Mojito, and a glass of Napa Valley Chardonnay. She also brought us 3 glasses of water. More servers started coming. Finally, Mark introduced himself, took our food orders. The food was delicious. We shared the Steamed Clams and Brie and Petal Honey. They were so good that we had to ask Mark fir extra crispy bread slides. For entrees, my wife had the Brussel Salad with Anchovy, and she loved it. My son had the Pork Chop while I tried the Crab Stuffed Salson. Excellent food and temperature. We were quite full for desserts, but Mark insisted, so we decided to order a Humingbird Cake and was informed that ithere was no more. Then we took the today's special, which was a strawberry pudding. It took 15 minutes to get the dessert with 3 spoons because, according yo Mark, they made a new patch. In my own opinion, this operation was not well prepared for a such busy Saturday on one of the busiest events. We saw the manager being the server assistant delivering food for his servers, while he was super friendly, and we and the servers appreciated him, he should have led his crew. For lack of leadership, I took away one star though Nark saved our dining experience. We plan to be back another time not during the chaotic holidays to see the real beauty of The Pinery.
