We wanted to celebrate my autistic brother getting his first job in Orlando and found this spot through my Chase credit card rewards. The location had complimentary valet as the street parking can be a little challenging in this area so that was a huge plus. We enjoyed their half price wine glasses during golden hour, such a great offering. From the start of our meal to the end, the food was exceptional. What made it even more of an experience was the awesome waiter (Merlin) we had. He went above and beyond to take care of us. Started with the crab dip and little toasts and it was great, high quality crab (not fishy) and cheesy! Would highly recommend. He recommended the special for the day which I ordered and holy crap, it was amazing. Huge grouper cooked to perfection with a light curry and creamy corn sauce that had just the right heat. All of this over some jasmine rice... we were in heaven. Parents got a fried grouper sandwich that was huge, and had their amazing wedge salads. My brother got the pork chop that had a perfectly sweet exterior, mashed potato's and carrots. We ordered the hummingbird cake and it had so much flavor with the cream cheese frosting and toasted pecans. Our waiter surprised my brother with their butter cake that was cooked to melt in your mouth. If you want to explore Ivanhoe Village area and want an incredible meal or snack, head to this place. Due to a schedule conflict, we canceled our reservation at a steakhouse in Winter Park and celebrated Mothers Day on Saturday, a day early. We found The Pinery and wanted to give it a trial. The only spot open was at 4:30 pm, so we made the reservation and showed up, valet parking and came in. We were sat immediately. The hostess seemed stressful, without any smiles, she took away 2 out 4 silverware and plate sets on our table for a party of 3. 12 minutes went by. The crowded dining room had 2 servers. A booth of 6 next to us were waiting for their drinks patiently. I finally got up and let the hostess know that nobody stopped by. She said someone would be with us soon. About 4.minutes later, a lady stopped, said sorry, and took our drink orders, a Pineapple Sugar, a Macha Mojito, and a glass of Napa Valley Chardonnay. She also brought us 3 glasses of water. More servers started coming. Finally, Mark introduced himself, took our food orders. The food was delicious. We shared the Steamed Clams and Brie and Petal Honey. They were so good that we had to ask Mark fir extra crispy bread slides. For entrees, my wife had the Brussel Salad with Anchovy, and she loved it. My son had the Pork Chop while I tried the Crab Stuffed Salson. Excellent food and temperature. We were quite full for desserts, but Mark insisted, so we decided to order a Humingbird Cake and was informed that ithere was no more. Then we took the today's special, which was a strawberry pudding. It took 15 minutes to get the dessert with 3 spoons because, according yo Mark, they made a new patch. In my own opinion, this operation was not well prepared for a such busy Saturday on one of the busiest events. We saw the manager being the server assistant delivering food for his servers, while he was super friendly, and we and the servers appreciated him, he should have led his crew. For lack of leadership, I took away one star though Nark saved our dining experience. We plan to be back another time not during the chaotic holidays to see the real beauty of The Pinery. read more

Was looking for a restaurant that has a great view/sunset and when I found The Pinery, I knew I had to try it! There is a dock across the street where you can see downtown in the distance and also sunset. The restaurant itself has outdoor and indoor seating. On a Tuesday evening it was actually decently busy. We were seated inside and the service was quick. We ordered the bread service as an appetizer I think the buttermilk biscuit and cinnamon honey butter is makes it - unfortunately the southern fry bread and jalapeño bread were dry and not as good. I ordered the smash burger as an entree and it was okay, nothing to write home about. While I didn't order a dessert, they seemed to have some great options. We went here on Mother's Day and it was pretty busy. We had reservations so there was no wait. The place was nice and clean. We had a big party so I was able to try a few dishes off of their menu. We got the broiled crab dip, the bread service and the gator tacos for appetizer. The crab dip and the gator tacos were delicious although the gator meat seems a little tough. I ordered the smashburger and it was good. It came with fries which was just okay. My husband ordered the cubano sandwich. It was nicely toasted and tasted great. The Pinery was an unexpected delight, ranging from the quality of their dishes to the friendliness of their staff... although my wife did find our server's cell phone in the ladies room right after we arrived, so we started off on a winning note. The non alcoholic pineapple sugar was sweet and refreshing, and would have went well with rum or vodka. The alligator tacos were tasty, albeit somewhat dry, and the bread service was a filling appetizer. There were two dishes that were absolute knockouts, the first being the Brussel Caesar Salad. Perfectly cooked, perfectly tasty with homemade croutons and pork lardons, topped with a Parmesan medallion. The second knockout was the grass fed filet, which my wife was quoted as saying, was the best filet of her life. I didn't know what a mofongo was, so I went with the Birria Mofongo. Still don't really know what it is, but it sure was scrump. Bonus: the manager stopped by our table to chat and dropped a hot little hint. I found this place while looking for a great date night dinner out. We were instantly surprised by knowing that our table was immediately ready (at our reservation time) even during peak hour. The Pinery delivers a youthful yet elegant evening out. We were skeptical of the food quality, but it surely delivered. Notably, I would skip on the bread service as the biscuits were incredibly undesirable. Otherwise, the food was enjoyable, and the presentation was elevated. If there's any reason for us to return, it would be the duck dish and the meticulous service from the Pinery Staff. We received it right away and welcome by our waiter Merlin (I could be spelling it wrong but he's the guy from Turks and Caicos) since it was a girl's Meetup, we haven't seen each other in a while. The waiter gave us ample time to kind of catch up with each other and go to the menu. We never felt rushed. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered The steak and eggs. The steak and eggs needed a little bit more flavor but after a little bit of seasoning did not disappoint. My shrimp and grits were flavored perfectly well blend it with just enough kick. Came here on a Friday night around 530pm and had reservations. Parking is a bit tricky unless you do their valet but we were able to do street parking a short walk by. We were surprised the place was quite busy for the time slot but I suppose that's one of the perks for being on the Michelin guide. The vibes are southern upscale, but still to a point where we felt comfortable with our 2 year old and our 2 week old baby at the restaurant. Ordered the pot pie and the market price grass-fed filet for our mains, as well as a side of the Brussels sprouts. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked to our medium-rare order; the bacon wrapped asparagus accompanied it well. The Brussels sprouts were ok. The pot pie was a big miss; the chicken chunks were too big and overpowered the rest of the ingredients, and the gravy inside was more of a broth than a gravy. 3.5 stars but will round it up to 4 as they were accommodating of our children and the service was top-notch as well. I don't want to be mean, because if you want a place to grab a snack and a cocktail their bartenders are on point and some of the best I have encountered in Winter Park/Orlando proper. However, despite their menu, their food is always wanting in terms of timing and quality despite the ambiance of the space. Honestly, if I wanted a meal to help me break up with someone or maybe repair a relationship this is where I would bring them because of the share frustration of the kitchen not meeting the quality of the menu. Not to go into a full diatribe, but the smoked duck is a perfect example of everything wrong with the Pinery on the food side of the business. Normally it takes more than an hour to get to the table after ordering. The Brussel sprouts are burnt and borderline inedible even for a person who LOVES char as a flavor accent. The duck is rubbery, even the fatty bits. The literal best part of the meal is the mushroom rice which after the failings of the main dish feel like I'm getting played and they are like some variation of instant rice pilaf with rehydrated mushrooms. We were also interested in the zuchini fries which were hot,, crispy and well seasoned. The manager came over to ask how we were doing and offered us some bread. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and we were able to eat here for free with my husband's Chase Sapphire reserve card. The good: we had a reservation and we're seated immediately, my husband's shrimp and clam dish was delicious, the bread service and crab dip were really good. Not good: the service was incredibly slow for drinks and food. The restaurant was really busy, but even a glass of wine took forever. Our seat was a booth behind a wall from the bar area and reminded me of the booths at The Melting Pot - really closed off. I guess that's good if you're wanting a more intimate setting. Our waiter was really friendly but maybe he had too many tables. It seems like restaurants like this normally have assistant waiters that help bring food. I gave three stars because I had to send my salmon back twice. Honestly, I don't recall the last time I ever sent food back and never a second time. Definitely not in the past four years since we've lived in Florida. The first time my salmon was cold, like barely room temperature. The second time the salmon was very overcooked with mushy, overcooked rice, and green beans that were almost raw. The manager came out a couple times to apologize. He gave me a free glass of wine and offered to comp my meal. I requested an order of the shrimp 'n clams to go instead of the comp as that was really good and we had been there for a long time waiting on food. The manager said they were unusually busy that night with people using their chase Sapphire reserve benefit before the end of the year. I can see why they lost their Michelin status. I've avoided trying this place for several years (I had my reasons). I finally went for brunch yesterday when my plans for the day had to be scrapped. So glad I finally broke down. The only reason it's not a 5 is the service. The waiter just didn't seem interested. It was toward the end of brunch, around 2pm, so the restaurant was pretty empty. I had to go in search of things for myself rather than waiting for Jonas. But EVERYTHING else was fantastic! The venue is beautiful inside and out. I ate outside and it was perfect. The bartender was cheery and full of information. She even got the chef to make an item for me but available normally on the brunch menu. And the food was scrumptious! I went to The Pinery for the first time during Magical Dining, and it was such a great experience overall. I made reservations ahead of time, and upon arrival we did valet parking (street parking seemed limited). The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the ambiance is perfect for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. When we checked in, we were told there would be about a 10-minute wait since other reservations were running behind, but it wasn't bad at all. Once seated in a cozy booth, our server, Marlon, greeted us right away with waters and gave us time to look over the menu. For drinks, my friend ordered the Lady Russell and I had the Tropical Passion Fruit Moscato, which was refreshing and light. Since it was Magical Dining, the menu was a $40 three-course set. For appetizers, my friend had the pork belly tacos (which were decent but had a bit of a charcoal aftertaste), and I tried the broiled blue crab dip, which was delicious and creamy. For entrées, my friend went with the Wild Mushroom Truffle Risotto, while I ordered the Shrimp & Clam Perloo. I had pictured the dish differently in my head, but it still ended up being flavorful and enjoyable. Dessert was the highlight my friend's Brown Butter Cake was rich, while my Pineapple Upside Down Bread Pudding was the perfect sweet finish. This was my first visit to The Pinery. It exceeded my expectations. The service was lovely and the ambience nice. You could enjoy your food and have a conversation with your friends. We went for Bite 30 and I had the Shrimp Tacos, Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, followed by the peach cobbler. The chicken fried chicken was exceptional. It's not something I would normally order given it's usually dry. Not this chicken. What ever they are doing in the kitchen they are doing right. The only misstep of the night was the peach cobbler. While the puff pastry was flaky and had a great flavor. The peaches could have been cooked a little longer. And the ratio of peaches to pastry was off. But, over all I truly enjoyed my meal at The Pinery. And will definitely visit again. They also have complimentary valet parking which is a huge bonus given the location. read more

We did an activity across from the Restaurant, I was so hungry we literally walked in and asked if they were still open. The restaurant was a little empty because it was close to closing time. Nice ambiance, could be a little casual but not too much, also would make a good date spot. We ordered: Chef's burger(medium) with truffle fries: Cooked perfectly, it was soo good!! And the fries nice and crispy just like I wanted. I will start by saying that we were seated, and it took 20 minutes for us to be greeted, finally the manager, Cameron, I think realize no one agreed us and came over to apologize. I will say that during that time several staff did work walk by including the hostess, who sat us, and it was clear we have not been greeted, because we didn't have water on our table, and we still had our menus yet none of them acknowledged us. I do think they were probably short staffed. The manager Cameron (spelling) realized what was happening and came to our table to apologize and take our drink and appetizer order. We then had Thomas as our server. But I will say once Cameron came into the picture and then we our server Thomas, things were excellent. Both Cameron and Thomas provided us with excellence service. I ordered the snow bird drink, which was delicious interesting combination of a piña colada and a margarita, my husband ordered the honey and thyme which he said was very good. We started with the blue crab dip appetizer, which was great. I had the gator tacos with the no. 7 Parmesan truffle garlic fries the tacos had a nice kick to them and both the tacos and the blue crab dip were full of meat. The fries were excellent. I knew you would think they're just fries, but these were not just fries. They needed no condiments at all, crispy and with a good amount of garlic, truffle, Parmesan seasoning. This was my last restaurant for the 2025 Bite 30 season, and I am very happy that I ate here. It was a bit hard to find with the night crowds near downtown on a Saturday, but I was able to find it and use the complimentary valet parking. When I checked in, I noticed the live musician in front. I was seated in a table near the restroom and kitchen area. For my drink, I tried the vodka drink called Pretty In Pink. I thought the name was a bit odd as the drink was more yellow color, and I didn't taste the strawberry syrup advertised, but I still enjoyed it as it was citrusy and refreshing. It first tasted a bit light, but it did buzz me a bit afterwards. Maybe they gave me another drink by accident, but I still liked it. For my appetizer, the shrimp ceviche was great. I used the plantain chips to scoop it up, which was quite enjoyable. The shrimp, avocado, and other diced vegetables tasted fresh and the citrus juices enhanced the flavors. My main dish was the salmon, and I was surprised that the portion was quite generous. It had an ample filet, nicely roasted and flaky. The salmon had the light fishy flavor I enjoyed, and the orange glaze had the right amount of sweetness. The lemon orzo with wilted spinach was soft and light. I was so happy with the portions that I took some home to enjoy for the next day. For dessert, the creme brulee was the perfect end. It was bruleed just right that I could easily crack open and enjoy the refreshing cool orange flavored creme. I wished it was portioned a bit more because I loved it so much. My server was friendly and helpful, but she did seem a bit busy and tired. She did check up with me and was professional the whole time. The atmosphere looked more upscale and darker than I remembered. I wonder if they either expanded or renovated since the last time I visited. I really enjoyed the live music and the social crowd. It made my dining alone less lonely. This restaurant completed a perfect 4 out of 4 with 5 stars on Yelp from me for the 2025 Bite 30 season. I really loved the food, atmosphere, service, and value. The live musician was a bonus too. If they participate in magical dining in September, I would highly consider in dining here again this year. read more

Came here to treat my Father for his birthday. It's located across the street from the Ivanho lake. Outside has nice views although it was too busy to snag seating. I made a 6:45pm rsvp but wasn't lucky to get the seating I wanted inside either. It was a packed house though, most likely due to an event happening. They happen to have fireworks that we were able to catch right after dinner by mere coincidence. Which was a nice touch being it was my Dad's 87th birthday. We were also lucky to be paired with a very kind server. I get hesitant to express if I don't like a dish but on this one I went ahead and stated my thoughts on the mofongo with birrira dish. My fam also thought the food was all a bit cold. The server was so attentive though and did an excellent job of hearing us out and coming up with a fair way to make it right. I joked that it wasn't my mom's style mofongo and he said something to the effect we wouldn't mind having her here to help us make it. I got the hint that this is not what they are known for.. I really wanted to try the chicken but they only had the sandwich due to the menu getting revamped. I mentioned it was my father's birthday and he made sure to remember to bring the little hbd cake out. Kudos to the server for doing his best to lift spirits out here. For my "older" people it is little on the dark side for us (haha)!we needed to use the light off our phone to see the menu. They use local in season ingredients which I love. It took over 20 minutes for us to get our drinks, which were just a martini and one ounce bourbon pour. Our appetizer actually came before our drinks. We wanted our drinks first, so we let our app sit until we could have a cocktail. For our app we got the crispy pork belly tacos. Even after us waiting to eat on them, they were absolutely delicious!!!! So smokey and just full of flavor. For our mains, I got the grouper sandwich(fried) and the hubs got the sweet tea brined chicken sandwich, both came with the fries. The grouper you can get fried, blacked, or grilled upon request. Both sandwhich were a 10 out of 10. The grouper was a nice size, perfectly cooked. The sweet tea brined chicken, grand slam. They have a winner here. This sandwhich was punched with flavor, fried perfectly such moist chicken. It was a flavorly, sticky good mess. The sweet tea brine just amazing. It was my birthday. We booked a day that was their annual event so, it was extremely crowded. Luckily the pinery offered complimentary valet so that was amazing! I did have to wait in line for walk ups who were told it was a 30/40 min wait so, having to wait for them was a little annoying because I had a reservation but, it was fine. We got seated and I think we were seated in a section that was not our servers section. We know the industry so, we gave grace when he forgot our app but, he was kind to comp that AND gave me a birthday dessert :) overall, the food was just OK. I've had way moister and hearty pork before at The Osprey in Baldwin and I was hoping for something similar. It was overcooked and not very flavorful. I wish there were more drinks to choose from as I heard they had good cocktails but, I think they were limited because of the event. The carrots were excellent and my husband said the chicken Sandwhich was good. I had heard they were spoken about in the Michelin guide so, I expected a bit more elevation, like small baked cracker breads or a warm hand towel or mint or chocolate after dinner. We live in the building above The Pinery and were genuinely excited to come downstairs, support a local business, and enjoy a drink and dinner on a Friday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was not full--there were several open tables both inside and outside. Unfortunately, the two hostesses barely acknowledged us. We understand waiting when a restaurant is busy, and we're always patient, but in this case there was no communication at all. We politely let them know we didn't have a reservation and would be happy to wait for any available table, preferably outside. We were told nothing--no estimate, no guidance--so we waited outside near the entrance. After nearly 30 minutes with zero follow-up or acknowledgment that we were even there, we decided to leave. We walked across the street to Russell's on Lake Ivanhoe, where we had an excellent experience--great food, thoughtful service, and a welcoming atmosphere. What's most disappointing is that this could have been completely avoided with simple communication. A quick update or even basic acknowledgment would have made a big difference. Given this experience, despite living upstairs, we won't be returning. I hope management takes this as feedback to improve how guests are greeted and managed at the front. read more

If you want a mix of upscale with business casual this is your place. Nestled in a perfect corner overlooking lake eola away from the hustle and bustel of downtown Orlando. The service walking in throughout the check-in to checkout is impeccable, attentive staff. However this is a place to enjoy and quick service is not for this place. The food is a taste of heaven it demonstrates Michellin Star quality just as its awarded. They offer complimentary valet parking. If you try to self park be aware it can take time to find an open place as street parking can be full. read more

I had expectations of a wonderful experience, based on the reviews.... My first visit to The Pinery was a few days ago, after I'd heard about positive experiences from a trusted friend. So I thought i would give it a chance. Here's the abridged version of my experience on a Wednesday evening visit. I arrived early--at about 6 pm. The entire staff I encountered were friendly and approachable. The server introduced himself and offered to get drinks for my table of three. Drinks were ordered and delivered. It took about 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive, but that was fine. We were still considering food options from the interesting-looking menu. The menu painted a picture of a delicious menu. Food combinations were inspirational and delicious sounding. The executions fell short of "appetizing". I ordered the brussel sprouts. They were supposed to be roasted and have balsamic glaze. They were burned and had no glaze; they had a bitter/burned flavor. And A crab dip with crostini. This option was more successful, if not a bit odd in consistency. Its flavor was very good, but it was oddly thick. And it came with crostini that were insufficient for the order. No one ever asked "do you need anything else?", so my dining companion offered me her uneaten crostini to finish my crab dip. Overall, disappointing. After we ordered our meal and ate most of everything. Our server asked if we wanted anything, and we casually said "yes, the checks, please." We had two checks at the table. He asked if he could box up the leftover food, too. "Yes, please. I'll take that to go". He left, took the food to be taken home, and never came back. After about 15 minutes, I asked another server to bring the check. She said she would get our server. I asked if she wouldn't. I just needed the checks. She said okay, and left for about 5 minutes. Then I saw her was by with a tray of food for another table. She acknowledged the concerned look on my face and said "the manager is going to bring your check." Five minutes later, she presented the check. The overall wait time was approximately 20 minutes to get a check so that we were able to PAY for a bad meal! I wish them luck, but don't see a reason to put this restaurant in my rotation of eateries around town. I'd really hoped for a lot better from what I'd read about The Pinery. I'm sure their beautiful, cozy restaurant and friendly staff meet some peoples' expectations. But the food quality and lengthy waits and so-so service left me unimpressed. I'm glad I got to experience what I'd heard about, but doubt I'll recommend this place. read more

Amazing date night & birthday dinner! Service was top tier and loved the ambiance. Lighting was perfect and tables were nicely spaced out. This is a scratch kitchen so menu changes We ordered the Scottish salmon and the Chefs Blvd Burger. Perfectly cooked & flavorful! The brown butter cake was sooo tasty! I literally wanted to go back the following day There is valet parking not sure if there is self parking. Amazing time , try this place it did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations for sure read more

We had an amazing first visit to The Pinery! The waitress was so helpful and nice. We had a draft beer called Pineapple Vibes that was really delicious! Tried finding it at a different restaurant the next night but they didn't have it so be sure to get it while you're here! If you order sparkling water you get the whole bottle of Saratoga...we looked like we were carrying wine out with us when we took the rest of it home! We also loved the cinnamon honey butter with the jalapeño cornbread. The sandwiches were really good, too! Highly recommend trying this spot! read more

Came here with a friend for brunch and had a great time and amazing service! We found street parking and made our way inside, the staff was very friendly. We asked the host about what the menu looks like for the end of the magical dining and he brought a menu to our table to look at while we waited for our food.
