Sooo... I have waited a couple days to write a review for the emotions that feel like buyers regret to maybe wear off and it has not. We came here for the 11 course meal. Let me point out somethings that went right first. The service, owner, staff were all nice and for the "most part helpful". The food was good, presented uniquely, and there was not dish that was bad. But we expected something better for sure. Sooo... what went wrong, from the beginning we felt like an inconvenience since we had a party of four. We arrived and were offered to sit at the bar, I guess so we could watch the chefs, but were told that half through the dinner since other people will be showing up that we will have to be moved to the table, we just decided to start and stay at the table, thanks for the consideration, but your saying that our experience means less than the next reservation so we are now going to have to move you , wtf. Next, my wife unfortunately came down with a cold earlier in the week and was not feeling well that night but there is no cancellation policy, no big deal, she could tough it out. When we went to order drinks she asked for some warm tea to help her feel better and was informed they do not have tea, ok, but then you gave us some tea in the to go box, so genuinely confused now. Also, we were under the impression there was a larger drink menu, there is not, a couple beer options and lots of expensive wine options, no mixed drinks. We ended up ordering some of the wine, the wine was good but grossly overpriced. Before beginning the dinning experience you are presented with options to add to the dinner, they kept saying no pressure on getting anything extra but these are some nice items to add if you like any of these. This was presented by the waiter and the chef. I felt personally, I'm just going to order two things bc why not. So we were never presented with menu/ dinner plan/ what ever you want to call what is being served over the 11 courses, so one would assume the extras being offered would not also already be on the menu for the evening. But no, the additional items ordered were already being served that evening, so it was just an extra helping of what was being served. Why TF would the chef not mention this instead of letting someone add $80 for two tiny dishes which was already being served. At the point when this was realized in the evening I was beyond annoyed just trying to get through the evening and not let my frustration ruin the evening for the other party members. The venue is a small place the decor and ambiance is just ok. I remember seeing another review mentioning why the front window was not covered better to block out car lights shinning in, lol. And now I completely understand, not sure what the idea or lack of attention was to this but car lights shinning in the window while your trying to eat dinner is never enjoyable. We expected a better ambiance. It is not loud inside, soft music played but it was easy to hold a conversation with each other. But saying this, we had to repeatedly ask the chefs to repeat what they said when they were describing the dish being served. This continued to happen and we eventually gave up asking them to speak up and repeat themselves. They also seemed to be annoyed with us for this, simple fix, speak up. The additional drinks and items were paid for at the end, we were charged for a higher prices glass of wine than what was ordered but again I was beyond over this experience at this point. Looking back I should have had them correct the bill but I was annoyed and ready to leave. Not sure the price warrants the experience and we say that it does not after this evening. We would not go back, and feel like this experience will likely push us away from doing something like this in the future now. read more

Amazing food, incredibly kind and attentive staff, and a beautiful space - highly recommend checking out Foreigner! We visited for the 4 course option on a Saturday night and were promptly greeted by Chef Bruno and sat at a semi-communal long table. The staff brought over mocktails while we browsed the drink menu which was a nice touch to kick things off. Plenty of beer, wine, and N/A options here so there's something for everyone. Each course was excellent, with the shrimp pasta dish being my personal favorite. We also opted for the cafe gourmand option which was a perfect end to the meal. Unfortunately, my partner had a migraine which worsened significantly about halfway through, which caused her to completely lose her appetite. The staff was extremely kind and understanding, boxing up the remaining courses to go. I'm sure boxing up food is quite uncommon here, especially with the 4 course option, so it was very much appreciated that they went out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as possible given the unfortunate circumstances. The food and experience at Foreigner is top notch. We opted for the 11-Course Confiance Dinner. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. We were both stuffed and barely finished, which rarely happens for us when dining at Michellin restaurants. It was a completely satisfying experience. I even put aside my dining preferences to really immerse myself into the experience, although it did require a nudge from the chef. We sat at the tasting table, which gave us a front row of the kitchen action. The owner is a very nice guy. Service was great. Definitely check it out!!! read more

I came here for my birthday and honestly could not have asked for a better birthday dinner experience. Chef Bruno and his staff are all super welcoming and it was great having him give an introduction to each course. We opted for the 11-course dinner and shared the wine pairing ($95 I believe, with 7-8 wines; sommelier was great and I thought the pairing was really good value). There wasn't a single course we didn't enjoy in terms of taste, presentation, and creativity. My favorites were the starting course (oyster with caviar), fish course (all the flavors came together incredibly well), and bread course (that black garlic and truffle butter was mouthwatering). By the final savory course, I was getting absolutely stuffed (you are NOT walking away hungry here) and could barely finish the first dessert course (luckily it was something light and refreshing). The final dessert course (assorted chocolates and sweets) I had to take to-go. They also offered a small slice of birthday cake, which was sweet of them. On a recent trip to Orlando, Florida, we were quite surprised to find multiple fine dining restaurants. Of the few we tried we felt Foreigner was absolutely outstanding. It is a very intimate 11 course dinner and we were able to see chef Bruno Fonseca at work as him and his staff prepared our courses for the evening. We were seated right at the bar along with three other guests (as I said, it was an intimate experience!) Brett, the sommelier, was very patient as we determined our drink selection. I chose two different glasses of wine, which were both exceptional, and my boyfriend opted for the premium wine selection, which paired perfectly well with every dish. I just wanted to highlight the plating which was beautiful. Of the courses, I particularly enjoyed the venison, which is not something I've tried before, but but was glad to have tried it at Foreigner! it was succulent, flavorful, and accompanied by sautéed vegetables. Worth every bite! I also enjoyed the duck! I enjoyed listening to the story behind each dish and found the menu to be quite whimsical. For example, one of the courses was a cotton candy served on a a stick, inside which was a lovely cheese. There was also a coconut flavored dish that was quite delectable! While the price tag can raise the eyebrow, I think it is absolutely worth it for the experience, especially if you are a foodie. In general, the food scene in Orlando is actually insanely good and I cannot wait to go back and return to the Foreigner, as well as try the other fine dining restaurants in the area!! read more

We came to celebrate an Anniversary and chose seating at the chef's counter right behind the range and small ovens...where all the action was happening! It truly gives you an appreciation for all the work and detail the chefs puts into each dish. The staff was very attentive, friendly and professional. Chef Bruno was very personable and came to talk with us each time between courses. We enjoyed the interaction. The vibe and atmosphere in the restaurant was great. Each of the 11 courses were very good. Standouts were: the foie gras torchon over caramelized blueberries, the octopus (which was so tender and delectably grilled), and that glorious black truffle butter that was served with charcoal bread as part of the charcuterie. The written menu (attached) is not very descriptive, but each course has complex, multiple layers. As an example, the fish course is just listed as "Wreckfish" ... but it was actually fish with hop shoots and morel mushrooms, over creamed corn plus a sauce. We came here on a Wednesday night and unfortunately they do not have the 11 course meal here on this night. The reservation process is a bit cumbersome since you have to prepay the meal through a link to get a reservation. The location is surprisingly in a strip mall. The meal is served at a countertop and is there only one large table at the establishment. The service was good and the food and presentation was very good as well. We only were able to have the 4 course meal so we had a beet salad, a guinea hen, and a steak piece. Desert we did not care for and it was ice cream with a hardened shell. Worth trying but would recommend going on nights they have the 11 course meal available. read more

The service was excellent. The restaurant has tasteful decor & is spotlessly clean. The ambiance was ruined by a couple things. First young American women are so loud! There was a table of seven people with three women under Forty years of age. They were so loud I struggled to hear the Chef describing the food. The beautiful music playing was drowned out as well. Second, lights from the parking lot shine brightly into the restaurant. A small but tasteful concealment barrier would easily take care of that problem. The food was fine, and some of it delicious & wonderful! Overall it was an experience but in the end I walked away disappointed by the ambiance. read more

Had the opportunity to check out Foreigner Restaurant, and it was an amazing experience! Chef Bruno was fantastic and his food is exceptional. When you walk in, you are greeted by the host, and seated at the kitchen counter for the dining experience. There is no menu card, but you do receive it at the end of the dining experience. You are immersed with anticipation with each new course that is presented to you. After the main entree is served, you are taken to the dessert table where the servers provide an array of delicious treats. This restaurant had been on my to try list and my sister treated my BIL and I to celebrate life from a tough year! Everything was exceptional and the blend of flavors with each course were delicious and on point. The staff and the chef were friendly, attentive, professional and explained each course as we received it. At the end of our meal, for dessert we moved to the communal tile to enjoy our sweets and if needed some coffee. I forgot to mention that we started with the caviar add on, which was good and it was a surprise to have it served with potatoes. Personally, we like the usual way to serve caviar (bread) but it was a good thing to try. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a modern chic look and feel and seating encourages other guests to talk to each other if they would like. I was super excited to finally visit, especially for brunch! Being able to try out the brunch menu made me want to come back to dinner soon. Food: My favorite from the brunch menu was the soft shell crab tostadas. It was so flavorful and the soft shell crab was so fresh and prepared to perfection. Honestly the best soft shell crab I've had. The other dishes were unique as well and very tasty. For a 4-course tasting it was pretty filling for brunch but not too full where I'm uncomfortable. Overall a great brunch menu and I'd come back for dinner! Service: Chef Bruno was very friendly and he checked in with all the guests throughout the meal to make sure we're enjoying ourselves. The staff were amazing and friendly. Ambiance: I love the space and decor. It's very modern and classy. I also love the music selection and learned the chef Bruno is really into music himself. Value: It was totally worth the price for brunch! The beverage pairing was also great for the price. Brunch for 2 people with beverage pairing for 2 came out to $240 after service charge and tax. Parking: There were a few parking spots reserved for the restaurants but the parking lot itself have enough parking spaces too, at least when we're here for brunch (around noon). The style at their pop-up was similar to what is offered at the new restaurant; Nouveau American prix fixe chef's table with monthly changes to the menu. We were absolutely thrilled with this dinner experience. Chef Bruno crafted an elegant menu for the evening and everything was constructed so artfully by himself and his team. The reserve wine pairing was also exquisite. This is an experience absolutely worth repeating. My favorite was the second duck dish, although I loved the the fois gras in the pastry. The sandwich is decent, but the brioche at the bottom is a bit heavy. The charcuterie is delicious, with fragrant ham. I had the absolute pleasure of dining with Chef Bruno Fonesca and his team, prior to their having a brick and mortar, as a pop up in The Heavy in Winter Park. Every single detail from when you walk in the door to when you leave is intentional. The food, service, and atmosphere is all top notch. The menu changes monthly, so I won't give too many details about the meal I had, but each course was thoughtful and unique from Chef Bruno's perspective as a "foreigner". Wow! That's my review. Seriously, it's amazing that Orlando has another new world-class restaurant. It's been an amazing couple of years for Michelin-quality places opening up, and Foreigner is right at the top of that class. If it doesn't seem like this restaurant has only been open a few weeks, that's because Chef Bruno and his team have been honing their presentation for four years in pop-ups. Now they are taking full advantage of this beautiful new space, presenting ten courses, beginning at the ten-seat counter, and ending at the communal dessert table. Each course is assembled in front of you. Chef Bruno's interaction with the diners makes the presentation a delight. And his friendliness encourages interaction among everyone, making Foreigner a really fun and relaxed environment. With so many standouts, it's hard to pick a favorite, and with half the menu changing every two weeks, you won't see many repeats. My favorites were: *The seemingly simple tomato salad with it its amazing salt-topped tomato sorbet. *The perfectly seared foie gras atop a stunning little banana pie. *The black butter and equally black, crusty sourdough bread. *And it's hard to choose between the hay-smoked duck or the perfectly dry-aged lamb course, each served with perfect accompaniments. Regular or reserve wine pairings thoughtfully accompany every course. My only wish is that the souvenir menu included more description of the ingredients, as with so many complex courses, it's hard to remember all the twists and turns! Our party of 4 sat at the corner of the bar and had dinner there and I think it is probably the most desirable spot because you can watch the prep, interact w the chef throughout the night, and converse easily w your party. I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Foreigner for my anniversary dinner. Everything far exceeded my expectations. The people who work there along with Chef Bruno are fantastic. I adore the concept of dining at the chef's counter, and you get a very one on one experience that you will not find in the majority of restaurants. The food and execution of the plating were all great. Beautiful plates and delicious food. Pur of all of our courses my favorite was the veal and that was my first time havining veal. Tye duck was absolutely cooked to perfection as well. I went in not knowing the menu, so I was very excited as well as worried that they would be able to accommodate my having Celiac Disease. They were very accommodating, and they also just didn't have a lot of courses that even contained gluten to start with. I didn't feel left out in any way. The restaurant is very nice, it's very classy in its own way. There is a sommelier there to help with wine pairings. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and there is free parking if you can find it because there are also other restaurants located in that strip mall. The restaurant was easy to find as well. I very much hope to return here again. It was one of the best meals I had all of 2023. read more

Since the sale of Le Coq au Vin several years ago , long before it closed , there has been at best a dearth of excellent dining experiences (with the exception of the impossible-to-reserve Victoria and Albert's) in greater Orlando. Many good places, lots of fun ideas and experiments , but nothing that made you sit in your car afterwards and just say " Wow"". Until now. Chef Bruno and his culinary team treated my wife, daughter and I to an experience rarely available outside of NYC. Eleven courses, superbly made, and a couple flat showstoppers. Taste, textures and technique in harmony. Approached the sublime at times. Wine pairing was subtle but spot-on. No nuance was spared, no taste bud left wanting. I did not plan to go to Foreigner, but another restaurant cancelled my prepaid reservation at the last minute. I was disappointed, but it caused me to search for alternatives, and I found this place. I don't splurge on many things, but I guess my one extravagance is great restaurants from time to time. I have been to many Michelin rated restaurants over the years; some of them multiple times. Even though Foreigner only recently opened at its current location, I would say that it is comparable to a Michelin two-star restaurant overall, and in terms of the experience (which is as important to me as the food), I would say it is comparable to any of the Michelin three-star restaurants I have been to in San Francisco, Chicago, New York or Paris. I am not kidding. I don't post reviews often, but the five people running this restaurant deserve to be recognized for the world class restaurant they have built in a former skateboard store. I am sure that restaurant critics will discover this place soon enough; make a reservation now while you still can. read more
