I needed to get medication for my son -which had to be compounded (instead of pill form - it needed to be in a liquid) and after going around to a number of local pharmacies in the area, CVS, Giant, Safeway even Wegman's no one was able to help. I was told about Whitesells by a friend where I worked with Rebecca and Danielle. These two have been... in a word - Fantastic! Rebecca who does the compounding, is extremely knowledgable about the process, provided me with and excellent education and has been a joy to work with. Danielle is also tremendously nice and helpful which makes the entire experience less stressful. They handle the insurance issues, call you back when they say they are which is important, at least to me. They also have a great medical supply area and just as helpful and professional. Kathy Curran was so thorough helping me navigate through insurance issues and went the extra mile to help. Bottom-Line - I don't even live in the Frederick Area, however, I drive up there in rush-hour 270 traffic to use there services. Could I go somewhere else? Sure, but when you are dealing with prescriptions and medications and other sensitive things, trust and knowledge is important (which they have demonstrated) and at the end of the day just because of something may be more convenient, doesn't make it better.

Of the three times I went in, during my five day stay in the area, I found the staff to be attentive and one time, seeing my hands full, the clerk offered to hold things at the register until I was ready to check out.

I don't know if they don't care enough to actually follow through or what the issue is, but also when I pick up they don't tell you what you're picking up before you pay. After you pay for it they won't refund, even if it's their fault for filling something you've cancelled. Shouldn't the pharmacist also be looking at all your prescriptions before they fill it and catching it if you're getting an abnormal amount of the same med? I really don't know, but they just don't seem to care. I would not recommend using this as your pharmacy.

It was that bad. To the point I's feel sorry for the employees if they didn't make me run around for 40 minutes trying to find 2 items (honestly). Needed one item. Asked pharmacy. They told me to go to the front. The front sent me to the back. They finally looked and then a second person in the pharmacy at the back directed me correctly. Made purchase and returned to car. Fine. 2 min later realized I needed something else. Went back in the store, checked aisles because honestly I didn't want to interact with these people who clearly hated being there. Couldn't find it, so I asked the front. Same story--kid told me to check the back. At pharmacy in the back, they told me to check with the front because the front stocks the shelves. Are you kidding me??? Why does a business (esp a pharmacy) exist except to provide a service people are willing to pay for? Spare yourself unnecessary idiocy and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Except they kept refilling it sooner and sooner, like 2 weeks apart. Still not the end of the world. Except at some point, they took me off of auto-refill without notifying me. I looked at my medication and realized I only had 3 days left, so I went through the app and asked for a refill. It asked when I would like to pick it up. I said 9:00 the following day. It's several hours past now, and it's not ready. I did get a phone call from CVS about an hour ago telling me that they noticed that my refill is due and I should call the pharmacy or use the "web" to refill it...??? Also, I was emailed a coupon from the manufacturer that was good for 12 refills or 1 year (coupon made the medication free). It was such a process each time I tried to use it, but is was $70 otherwise. Then after the first 3 or so being free, they said the best they could do was charge me $25 instead of $70. Weird, but ok. Then they stopped honoring the coupon altogether. Another pleasant experience is when I had my doctor switch to a different CVS so that I didn't have to come here anymore. They did, and I picked up my prescription from the new CVS. Then I guess CVS realized the "mistake", and switched me back to Liberty Road! Why!?!!! Anyway, I am about to run out of medication despite the app saying the refill is "in process" (has been in process for a day and a half). They can't possibly care about people's health, so I'm going to switch to Walgreens.

She got the pharmacist, who came right out to help me. He suggested two things, so I took them both and thanked him. I also picked up a couple of other things to help with the lingering symptoms and went up front to check out. There were two self-checkouts, and the one that took cash was closed. I wanted to use cash so I went to the register and stood there a while. No one came and there were no visible employees at the front of the store. Eventually I said in not a ridiculously loud voice, "Hello." No one came so after another while I called out again. When still no one came, I got a bit louder and yelled "Can I check out please?" At this point I started looking for an employee and saw movement down the side of the store toward the front, so I turned around to meet the young man at the checkout. He immediately very aggressively told me not to do that. I asked what and he said you don't yell through the store like a lunatic. Go back and find someone to help you. I replied that I wasn't yelling I was calling for some help and I was unwell and didn't have energy to go hunt down an employee. That's when the F-bombs started. I was shocked. He told me I was an effing lunatic. I said I just wanted to buy my medication. I asked his name and he wouldn't give it (it's Chris though). I asked if it wasn't his job to check me out, and he looked me dead in the face and said, "I make more money than you. This is just a secondary job. You're going to be banned from this CVS." I told him I didn't care and just to check me out. Gave him $100 bill for an $82 order and said "Just give my change." He stared me down and said "Maybe I won't." I was pretty shook and headed back to find a manager. And by this time I hate to admit that I was in tears. The tech again was sweet and concerned. And then Chris came back and took me to his manager, Janis. That's how I found out his name is Chris, because Janis told him to go away and she'd handle it. But Chris wanted to argue and call me a lunatic some more in front of the Minute Clinic. Janis really just wanted me out of there, really didn't listen, didn't ask any questions, didn't care who I was or anything, but she assured me she'd take care of it! I have very little faith that that will happen. So I went out and had a minor meltdown in my car before heading back home. So yeah that happened. I'm not a confrontational person. I'm a 63-year-old woman who just wanted to pick up some meds at CVS and go home to pet her dogs and pay her bills. I have never been treated in any way close to this at a store, ever. I am honestly in shock. When I went home I checked my email for my receipt. No receipt and none in the bag. I checked my CVS account. No activity. I'm not sure what Chris did because I had put my phone number in as always. I was even planning to use my extra bucks and a coupon that I had been sent through email. But I was so flustered I didn't and it concerns me that there's no record of this transaction.

Honestly, I had no idea that Giant Eagle reached this far. I was shocked when I found one in Bedford, PA, but for one to be here, it threw me. This Giant Eagle is part of a larger plaza, I guess you can say that it is the anchor as it is by far the biggest retailer in the plaza. Parking is ample and can make for a quick entry/exit. Inside it is well organized and everything appeared to be stocked. I didn't look around too much as my mind was on gift cards only. I went straight to that area and started to browse. I have to say, they had a fine selection of gift cards and made choosing one a bit hard. I circled the display a few times before honing in on one section and then stayed there for a few good minutes having an inner debate on which gift card would be most appropriate. Once the selection was made I headed for the registers. Made sure to scan my rewards card and was out the door.

Like many others, I was sad when the Safeway on 7th Street closed after 50 years in business. The pharmacy there was great! Absolutely top notch. All accounts were automatically transferred to a nearby, let's call them a 3 letter pharmacy. They're everywhere. The new place insisted on giving me only 30-day refills, which was slightly inconvenient and tripled the co-pay cost of the 90-day refills I'd been getting. So, looked around and heard good things about the Weis pharmacy out on the west side of town. I could not believe how hard these folks work to make sure you get the medicine you need at the lowest price possible. McKenzie helped me first, and I got a 90-day refill (using an on-line coupon) at no cost to me! A few days later I went back to pick up two more, different prescriptions. Again, a 90-day refill had a zero copay. The 30-day refill had a co-pay of only 97 cents!
