Hidebrand's located downtown Augusta Food: We ordered several sandwiches including the pastrami / corned beef Rubens, also the hot smoked turkey and sweet heat Luis If you enjoy hot sandwiches, freshly made to order then Hildebrand's is a great place to go. Service: Friendly service, you will also get a history lesson dating the restaurant back to the late 1800 right here in the Garden State. Ambiance: Definitely can use some maintenance and upgrades however has that back in the day vibe.

Came here on the recommendation of my neighbor & this place is very much a hidden gem! There is a large parking lot across the street from the building, and it's free. I loved reading about the history on this place & the family that still owns it. We got 2 sandwiches, 2 cream soda's and a bag of chips. Everything was tasty & we ended up getting another can of cream soda's because of how good it was! It is open seating. Staff was so friendly. I will say I was a little disappointed at how long it took for us to get the 2 sandwiches, there was only a handful of other people but they had already been there before we ordered.

Wanted sandwiches with the guys during Masters week. No other better stop than Hildebrandt's. Great food and very kind staff. Charming ambiance and decor. Last year I had the German Sandwich and it was great. Opted for the Carolina bbq this year and it was a real winner.

I hadn't been to this establishment in over 10 years and I was shocked to see Mrs.Hildebrandt is still working at her restaurant. They used to have the best sandwiches! I decided to stop by for lunch, the line was a bit long, but it was moving along fairly quickly. I love sweet heat type of meals so I opted for the Sweet Heat Louis (I surprised myself because I don't like pastrami). There was a bit of a wait, but I know the quality is there, so I didn't mind. I waited until I made it home to eat because I had to go back to work. I took a bite without the sauce and the meat was tender, the pastrami taste was there as well, but I didn't want to not eat it. I dipped it in the sauce and it brought all of the flavors together very well. I'll be back in the near future to get my old time face, the club.

Got here about 2:15 and placed our orders. I had Corn Beef Reuben and wife has Pastrami Reuben. Side of German Potato Salad also. Also had a Beerwine.l to drink everything was delicious. The place is like stepping back in time. There is a lot of sidewalk construction. Don't let that deter you

This place is pretty darn cute and makes great sandwiches! I had a great Corned Beef Rueben with Sauerkraut--perfect! It appears to be run by a husband and wife team without any staff, so the orders come out slow, but hit the spot! This is a perfect spot to catch up with old friends and take your time to kick back and enjoy a good sandwich.

The wait time heart my soul. They are severely understaffed but by golly was that the best Reuben Sandwich I've ever had. The macaroni salad and sweet tea was also delicious. Update: Went here here again next day, and I must say it's not a once in a blue moon wait time. This time I was the first one in line to order when i walked in. There were only about 4 or 5 people in the restaurant and some were eating already. This was just after opening time...and I waited at the cash for TWENTY minutes being seen 4 times and not having my order taken that I just left. They are seriously understaffed. The worker here is literally the cashier, the waiter, the cleaner, the tea refiller, the kitchen helper, etc. The sandwich I had yesterday was amazing but unless you have an hour to kill waiting to get ordered and receive your food...going here is pointless. I really wanted to try another sandwich and go here everyday of my trip but really nobody has this time on their hands.

GREAT food, great feel, it's become my lunch stop whenever Im nearby. Pastrami Reuben much tastier than I expected and the macaroni salad is light and refreshing. LOVE that I got to watch the train go by right outside the door!

I did not grow up with an exposure to authentic German food. Sure I had the rock hard pretzel slowly rotating around on the gas station counter and I had sauerkraut on my hotdogs (but it was from a jar/can). But no brats or schnitzel or even kasekuchen. And mustard, just the hyper yellow stuff from a plastic container. Thankfully my curiosity and palette grew. I began to sample various dishes and seek out establishments, as I moved around, serving "the good stuff." And then I came to Augusta. It was here I heard about a deli downtown that has been in business since 1879. That alone had my attention. But I heard their Reuben was the best around. Now I had to visit. This place has a simple layout; walk in the door marked Entrance and you are automatically in line. Along the wall you'll see local wares such as hot mustard, honey, cutting boards and hats. The menu remains constant, but desserts change daily. Drink options include quality ginger ale, sodas, and lemonade (no beer-maybe one day). And the team, they are the best you'll find. Luanne has been at the helm for many years and she's not quitting any time soon. She will remember your name after one visit and stop by your table to make sure the order is up to your liking. If you're lucky, a train will roll by. It's the only reminder you're still downtown while inside. Photos on the way date back decades and decor is literally antiques available for purchase. It is the perfect place to escape for lunch, as that is the only time they are open (11 am-2:30 pm, Mon-Sat). Don't miss out!

Great sandwiches -- I got the pastrami Reuben, my husband got the corned beef Reuben. Generous amount of pastrami & corned beef, perfect ratios of melted cheese, sauerkraut & brown mustard. German potato salad was excellent as well. Fast service too. I liked the old timey ambian

An Augusta gem! I had the German Louis and potato salad, and I would have it again. I've never had potato salad quite like that. So good!

Yelp nudged us toward New Moon Cafe, and while the signage from the street is minimal enough that we almost walked past it, we eventually found our way inside and were glad we did. At 12:30 on a Saturday the timing worked in our favor. We stepped right up to the counter with no queue at all, placed our order, and settled in. By the time our food arrived about fifteen minutes later, the line had grown to the point where people were waiting nearly that long just to order, which gave the whole place that lively, slightly chaotic weekend energy without ever feeling rushed. Mrs. K chose the smoked salmon bagel, which came out panini pressed, a small twist on a classic that she enjoyed. I am still keeping things keto, so the chef's salad with blue cheese was exactly what I needed, a generous portion that felt balanced and satisfying without pushing me off track. They offer plenty of coffee drinks and smoothie combinations, but we kept things simple and were perfectly happy with our choices. There is outdoor seating if that is your preference, and the whole experience had that relaxed, local charm that makes Augusta lunches feel unhurried even when the dining room is filling up around you. Sitting along busy Central Avenue, it's actually pretty easy to pass right by if you aren't looking for it. From the outside, it looks like what it is -- an old Augusta bungalow that found a second life as a neighborhood coffeehouse. Walk inside, though, and something happens. Everything slows down. The rooms are small. The furniture doesn't necessarily match. The chairs look like thousands of people have already found their favorite position in them. There's a porch, little tables tucked into different spaces, and none of it feels staged or designed to manufacture some trendy "coffeehouse aesthetic." In fact, I noticed something while sitting here: I don't see electrical outlets conveniently positioned at every table. I don't see a sea of laptops. Instead, I hear locals talking about doctor appointments, seeing the grandkids this weekend, and how ridiculously hot Augusta has been. People are simply here. I came in expecting to grab a coffee and leave. I have places to go and things to do today. But I sat down. Then I started looking around. Then I realized I didn't really want to leave. At some point they had probably been calling my drink for several minutes and I hadn't even noticed. And then I ordered a second coffee. That might be the best review I can give Buona Caffe. The coffee itself is absolutely on point. The staff knows what they're serving, makes thoughtful recommendations and genuinely seems to care about getting it right. But what makes this place special is everything surrounding the cup. It almost feels like they don't completely realize what they have here -- or maybe they do and simply have no desire to make it anything more than what it already is. As this part of Augusta continues to grow, with new homes and businesses coming into the area, I hope places like Buona Caffe remain exactly as they are. Sometimes you need a place between where you've been and wherever you have to go next. Somewhere neutral where you can sit down, let a little time pass, decompress and breathe before heading back out onto Central Avenue. Buona Caffe is that place.
