This area of Augusta was like a ghost town but has such incredibly high potential. This deli is right on Broad street and offers a big menu. We tried the Apollo which had turkey and ham with melted cheese. We split the sandwich and tried the potato salad ( made in house) and tomato soup. They boast special recipe sauces and big rolls. The bread was very soft. Prices reasonable. The Apollo was good but average. Found the sauce to be very sweet. The potato salad is very dill heavy and also sweet . I initially walked passed this place because I wasn't in the mood for a sandwich but I'm SO GLAD I turned around and came in. The service was great, quickly attending to me while I sat at the bar. Are lunch here one day as it was near the job location. Typical looking deli place with a counter and regular booths. I got the pastrami sandwich with house chips. I ordered double meat. Good thing because double meat looked like regular meat to me. It was good though. Unfortunately they didn't have any of their famous potato salad. Service was spot on. My lunch today was delivered by Door Dash in a timely manner so my food was still soft and the mayo was not melted away. Big portions of turkey and thick salty bacon slices with rye bread. This is only getting 2 stars because the food is okay. We are sitting at a table. Our waitress is nice but got our orders completely wrong. I went up to the bar and very nicely asked the "bartender" to ask our waitress for the things she forgot and before I could even finish she rolled her eyes and walked away. I am SO nice especially being in the F&B industry for 10+ years... this was just horrible. There is never a need to be a bitch. The bartender has brown hair and is maybe 5'5"/5'6". Ride by this place several times and I finally stopped in. I was not disappointed the staff was friendly and the food was good they even give 10 percent discount for military! Old school diner bar look and plenty of regular seats much bigger place than it looks. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu! read more

This place is decent! I don't have much to say here. My family and I went for lunch before picking up the kids from school and I like that they toasted my sandwhich. Service was quick but we just felt a little attitude towards us from our young server. We told her it was our first time but we just didn't receive help when we had questions. It's fine though cause it always happens whenever you go out to eat. Some times people have bad days and it shows. I like that they have different options of bread to choose from. Average tasting sandwiches with pretty quick service. Price to size, quality and taste do not seem to match up. I don't think it's somewhere I would go out of my way to eat again but, they have a large menu with a lot of other options if this style sandwich isn't for you. Sandwiches come with a regular small bag of plain chips and a pickle. Options for other sides with up charge. They also have both a junior size and kids menu section. I never knew about Groucho's Deli in downtown until the time I came down here some months ago for a dental appointment. I decided to come here a a month ago and give it a try. And honestly I loved it. I love the deli sandwich with pickle chips and I actually got a chance to try The Salted chocolate brownie. Honestly I don't really go to many delis in the downtown area most of the time I do there really a an Augusta Evans Martinez but it's good to have one at downtown just in case you're really in the mood for a sandwich but don't want to have to go all out out of the way really just to find one. The food is always delicious and made to order, the service is friendly and quick, and we love to sit in new places and look at the memorabilia on the walls. The STP and Brown Moose are two of our favorites. The BLT with extra crispy bacon is delicious. I don't know what they put in these simple sandwiches that makes them so addicting but I always find myself craving an Apollo with ranch and their 45 sauce! I think their sandwiches are the basic food groups. Bread, meat, and cheese...that's it right? Seriously, if their sandwiches aren't already delicious enough I will store their sauces in my fridge for several days after ordering (they are generous with their sauce portions). I don't deny sneaking to the fridge to dip some chips into their ranch. I have been back a few times since Opening Day, but what brings me to review them again is my most recent experience. I swung in one evening, less than an hour before closing time. I don't like doing that, but I needed something to eat and they are on the way home. I sat at the bar to make ordering a STP Dipper and a beer quicker. I had no idea how quick it would be. I will add that there were fewer than 10 of us in the place and I overheard a team member tell another customer that lunch, not dinner is their busy time. In less than 10 minutes I had a warm sandwich and cold beer in front of me. I ate it in even less time (I told you I needed something to eat). I was paid up and walking out in less than half an hour. That is amazing. Speed that doesn't compromise quality is always appreciated. Keep it on your downtown dinner list. read more

Average and quick. Stopped by for some lunch with my family. It was busy but there were a few booths open in the back. We were told to sit ourselves when we walked in but no usual friendly greeting. The menus were already on the table so you don't have to wait for a server to bring them to you. Our waitress wasn't friendly and had a hint of attitude when taking our order. Thankfully our drinks and sandwiches came out quickly. I ordered the deli club and it was bulky because it was a triple decker and the bread was hard and dry. My husband ordered the chicken pita which had a clean taste and wasn't dredged in sauce. My brother in law enjoyed his Mid East sandwich which had pastrami. Their chips are basic lays potato chips. Pros: quick, reasonable price, good ice (they have that "good" slushee ice!) Nothing really bad and maybe my sandwich wasn't one of their best. Overall average and probably won't be back. I ordered takeout online- I'm a huge fan of easily putting in an order and then heading over to grab it. My turkey Reuben was delicious! Friend and I ordered simple sandwiches. Both were dry and ingredients were not fresh. Bread fell apart from itself taking first bite. Owner stated they never get complaints about their food. When the Owner offers that statement of defense, really means they are receiving complaints but they are too egotistical to truly review their food without the rose colored glasses. Owner was in the restaurant and didn't come out to deliver any kind of customer service control. He/She left that responsibility to the obviously brand new hire. We were having a date night before seeing 38 Special at the Miller. Very hungry not knowing what we wanted, we saw this restaurant. There were a few people inside, so we gave it a shot. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and told to sit where ever we wanted. Our wait staff was awesome. What a smile. We got our drinks and food very quickly. I got a Reuben that was at least 4 plus inches tall. It was loaded, and the bread was toasted and incredible. My wife got a sub, and she loved it. A sauce was given, wow, and it was awesome as well. This was our first time there, but it will not be our last. What a great start to an awesome evening. If you go there you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to explore more on that menu. Finally! My college dreams have come true! There's a freaking Groucho's in Augusta and I can go grab an STP any time I want without having to drive all the way to Aiken. I love this location. It's sleek and modern but still has the casual Groucho's vibe that I know and love. The food is exactly as I remember it Last time we went it was cold and rainy and we were the only guests. Walking into Groucho's, I was very excited about trying their sandwiches. I've heard great reviews on google and Yelp and was anticipating the day they open for business. They're at the corner of broad and 8th street downtown Augusta. A great spot between the Miller theater and the commons. My sandwich was juicy and the 45 sauce was a great additive. My daughters both had the STP Dipper and was very pleased by the presentation and taste. Great customer service too. Oh and the brownie is a great desert after a great sandwich.
