Wow the vibes in here were really nice! You get all the luxuries of being on a "rooftop" while not freezing your butt off at night. The interior was beautifully decorated with neon lights and such. I checked out Highwater Rooftop while staying at the Hotel Indigo at Wall and Water St (Financial District). I had a couple of issues with my room, and the sales manager kindly comped me a drink -- which gave me the perfect excuse to head upstairs and see what the rooftop was about. I ordered a simple vodka soda and took it outside to the top of the roof. It was a cold but clear day, so even though the temps were brisk, the fresh air and views made it worth it. There's something nice about being above the city, especially downtown. A few colleagues ordered the onion rings and said they were just okay -- nothing standout, but decent enough for bar bites. The space itself is on the smaller side, but honestly, that's pretty typical for downtown rooftops. Overall, a nice spot to grab a drink, especially if you're already staying at the hotel. On a warmer day, I could definitely see this being an even better hangout. Not sure I would just go to this bar if I wasn't staying at the hotel to note. read more

So it's a very generic hotel bar that very much looks like a hotel bar. The prices are of a Manhattan elite though. I just got a Paloma, it's just tequila and soda water with a splash of grapefruit juice and it was $22. Like I get that's NYC prices but this is a very very mediocre bar during happy hour. Was really looking forward to hosting an event at Highwater. I was severely disappointed by the lack of communication, friendliness, and professionalism when coordinating with them. I'd expect this quality of service from a Dave & Buster's, not a "fancy" rooftop bar in downtown Manhattan. In the end, we probably dodged a bullet. Due to a private event, we were seated in what has to be the B-list section, with nary a view to comfort us. That said, the service was great and our drinks were surprisingly good (for $20+). You want to Insta da gram? Get the Bubble Buddy Martini, which comes with--you guessed it--a big bubble on top of that pretty pink concoction. The Sangria 2 Ways is fruity and refreshing, while the Smoke Break is fumes without the nicotine. Food-wise, they have a pretty limited menu that's nonetheless tasty. I needed fiber, so I got the Mixed Salad, which was surprisingly huge and tasty. Plus, my stomach thanked me for all that healthy kale and cabbage. They did let us tour the actual rooftop at the end of our visit because the private event was winding down. Nice mid-tier views: this isn't the place for sweeping panoramas to backdrop your wedding, but it's a good pre-game spot before tearing it up. read more

Had a birthday party at Highwater and have to say that the space is wonderful. Great lighting, clean and chic ambiance. The service staff were all amazing, and management goes above & beyond to ensure things move smoothly. I felt like the staff but in a lot of effort to ensure things went well, and their manager Chris was great with communication. Many of my friends said they want to do things there as well. 10/10 recommend. read more

Came here during the winter holidays with a group of coworkers with a dinner reservation. This place is so cramped for a rooftop indoor area. At least they had a very intricate Christmas decoration setup with a fake reindeer and winter backdrop with fake snow. The place is a little hard to find with the entrance around the corner and inside next to a hotel and up the elevator. The sweats for a party of 8 were some random stools and they pushed two tables together pretty adhoc. The burger was not bad, but not great either. Not particularly juicy, but at least there was bacon. The chips with ketchup were actually pretty good. I was just glad that I didn't get the other appetizers because they looked like they were for ants. Someone got raw tuna sushi style tacos that took over 30 minutes to prepare and came out literally as four small hors d'oeuvres. Everyone ordered drinks and someone ordered a fish bowl type drink. We booked a reservation at 11:30p. As we were in our Lyft, on the way from New Jersey, the restaurant calls and says that they are closing early and will not be able to accommodate us after 11p. Such a nice rooftop unfortunately there's one bartender there that must hate his job or maybe has something against me personally. Besides him all the other bartenders are so nice. Every time I go he totally ignores me so unprofessional like if I ever ran out on a bill. When I do ask for a drink never a smile or what can I get for you. The most miserable bartender i've ever seen. I'm not sure why I continue to go. Hope one day he either changes his attitude or find a job that will make him smile. read more

The view is nice but most rooftops have better. There are 2 levels some indoors and some outdoors. It's bigger than it looks online. It was quiet when we went but it was a Friday on a holiday weekend. The waitress was nice. Halfway through we were informed we had to go to the bar to order instead of asking the waitress which was weird. The place is pricey for the portions. We got the hummus to share which was spicy. The drinks weren't bad. The veggie quesadilla was quite yummy. The chocolate mousse was great. They were out of a few things on the menu. I had a private event here. It was awful, there were workers everywhere that were only looking to start trouble. They kicked people out left and right. My friend was rushed down the outside staircase that was very slippery as it had just rained. She ended up falling down and her arm was gushing blood. As friends rushed to her aid, we ended up being kicked out for unknown reasons. The food was really horrible and the venue was incredibly small and cheap looking. Views were not work it. My party spent so much money to come here and were treated like an annoyance to the venue. read more

Very cute Rooftop Bar and Lounge. Inside the Hotel Indigo. Open until 10pm. Staff very nice. They were out of ingredients to make The Flying Car, so I got the same drink as my sister, The Palomita. Drinks were nicely made, light on the spirit but a well tasting drink. We tried the Wagyu Beef Sliders, they were very good. 3 Sliders come with the meal. We walked around the rooftop lounge, which is two floors and very spacious. A good amount of seating available. I would definitely try it again, hopefully I can try my original drink of choice. read more

Came here with a 7:15pm reservation. Did not get sat til 8pm (with open tables). Once we sat down it took our server 25 minutes to come take our order. Their menu claims they have happy hour until 8pm and when I asked about it she told us they never had a happy hour. They didn't have half the flavors for their espresso martini flights either. We ended up just leaving. The table next to us was sat about 20 minutes before us and it took them 40 minutes to get their drinks. They said they had considered leaving as well had they hadn't already ordered. Overpriced. It wasn't the server's fault but they seemed SEVERELY understaffed and did not anticipate how busy they'd be after their drinks went viral. Won't go back. read more

My experience here was so bad it's almost comical. Went here for a Sunday brunch. The place was busy but not packed. We initially sat outside on the balcony, but later moved in when it got too hot (there is no shade whatsoever for the outdoor tables). We were seated without menus, which we had to then procure ourselves. There was no server in sight, and finally the hostess came to take our order. Then we waited about 20 minutes. Finally, a staff member came by and told us that our server had an "accident" and thus the delay. She asked us what we ordered. Okay fine. After another 10 minutes, the staff member came by and said their computers had gone down and needed to reconfirm our order again. The restaurant at this point was backed up as more and more people were waiting for food and nothing was coming out. Another 10 minutes went by, she asked us our order again as food was finally starting to come out but was getting delivered to the wrong tables. The kitchen is not a kitchen at all but a counter behind a bar area with a fridge and hot plates. There was only one woman preparing the food and she spent a good amount of time arguing with the food runner while plates sat out getting cold. The staff member came by AGAIN to ask us to reconfirm our order. Over an hour of waiting with no food, we got up and left. I don't know what clusterfuck was going on in the restaurant that day, but they clearly were not equipped to deal with it. Overall: the views are okay at best, the service is completely amateurish, and the food is nonexistent. This one's a hard pass for me. read more

I visited Highwater Rooftop for an event that I paid to attend. I would assume the person who reserved the event spent a few grand at least. Upon arrival, workers were very rude and rushing. We were lied to about having a coat check, we were shown completely different pictures of the venue, very much false advertising of the very limited space we received for a group of over 200 people there. We were supposed to have open bar but they shut down one of the bars very early and their fridge only had about not even 20 beers in it and their options were super limited for a large party. I was only able to get 2 drinks from open bar which is very disappointing since we paid for open bar. They also continuously shut down spaces, cramming us into smaller and smaller spaces as the night went on, where people just started leaving. This one bald bouncer was one of the rudest people I ever encountered and as someone who has been in the service industry for years, I would be fired for ever treating customers the way he did. It was raining during this event and there was an outside staircase separating the spaces which the bouncer rushed us down the stairs in heels. Someone at the party slipped down these stairs and was bleeding heavily and no one could care less. I am 24 and my zyns were confiscated but the DJ they hired was allowed to vape not sure why that is. Food was also not good. It was just overall a disappointing experience especially when this is something I paid for and looked forward to going to. Really unfortunate. read more

Giving them a two for a mildly okay downtown view of the city but exiting restaurant having not been served despite having a reservation and paying ahead of time. After waiting being seated, I waited for thirty minutes to be given the opportunity to order a drink and appetizer. I am leaving frustrated but hopeful that they will take this opportunity to address their service issues and improve. read more

Our experience here was absolutely terrible. We found the place through tik tok highlights but the real-life situation was a far cry from what it appeared to be. We came for the espresso martini flights and after 20 minutes of sitting with no service or menu a waitress came over and let us know that 4 of the items were not available and that the price was increased 10$ from what was listed on the menu. After about 45 mins, we still hadn't received our flights and the waitress cane over with Prosecco to "apologize" for the long wait. Eventually the drinks came but they were very awful and it looked like everyone behind the bar was trying to learn how to make drinks from google ingredients. To put the cherry on top, this location changed my tip amount on the bill as I noticed I was charged more than I agreed to. I would give 0 stars if I could. Went with my girlfriend because we heard they had cool espresso martini flights. Turns out they only had 4 out of the 10 choices on the menu. We order a chips and dip which was served in plastic containers with more dips than actual chips. Out come the martinis and they made two of the same one so we send it back. It takes them 45 min to make the one we actually had ordered. Good thing we did get any food that required us to use our utensils because they are filthy. read more
