Met a friend at Wicked Willy's for Happy Hour and stayed for HOURS! There wasn't any wait to get inside. Atmosphere and look is soft to loud-dark and woody, trimmed in fun, colorful LED lights. The Happy Hour menu has so many good things to pick from so I just got a little of everything. I sipped on glass after glass of Prosecco. I tried the pasta with meat sauce which was ALMOST perfect. The chef used a slightly heavy hand with the salt. The cheesy slice of garlic toast was delicious. Buffalo wings were pretty basic. That GLIZZY though? It was more like a sausage- nicely grilled, drizzled with yellow mustard and served on a warm, soft bun. A live band set up after a while and jammed out, while my friend and I sipped on tequila and pineapple cocktails. At the door, they scanned all of our IDs and said everything was fine, even though one of my friends wasn't 21. It didn't make sense, especially since they had already checked our IDs and let us in without any issue. After going back and forth, the waitress said we could order separate drinks instead, which we were fine with. We also ordered food. But from that point on, the whole vibe felt off. We were being watched by multiple staff members the entire time, which made us feel really uncomfortable. We came in completely sober, so it felt like they were just making assumptions for no reason. We asked to be moved and were offered a table in the beer pong section. It was much quieter there, so we gladly took the new seats. We ordered buffalo wings, flats only, loaded nachos, and two Mai Tais. They give water and small Mason jars to use. The food and service were good, and the drinks were strong. However, a palm sized water bug, also known as cukarachas/cockroach, started crawling down the wall next to my friends face as we ate. We jumped up and yelled for the waitress. One of the waiters brought a spray bottle, sprayed it onto the floor, and killed it. The guy then told us it's because of the wood on the walls. If you know this, why keep the wood and why put customers to sit right next to the walls... I know critters are expected in NYC, but not in the middle of a meal. We weren't in the mood to return to our hotel, so we concluded it must be tiki time. New York being New York, we found one nearby on Bleecker. Actually Wicked Willy describes himself as a Caribbean oasis. They have fishnets on the ceiling and grass hut fringe over the bar, so it was cose enough for us. It was Sunday karaoke night and except for a couple at the bar, the place was empty with a full staff trying not that hard to look busy. They serve food here, so the server was pushing their bar bites on us. But we just wanted something in an unnatural color to drink. Jamie ordered the $13 Wicked Mai Tai which had Bacardi black and white rum, orange and almond liqueur, pineapple juice, and angostura bitters (photo: https://bit.ly/3UmUwir). Tasty, a bit sweet and not that wicked. I went with the $14 Frozen Patron Paloma which combined Patron Silver tequila with grapefruit juice, salt, and lime. We began by ordering a margarita pitcher and placed a food order shortly thereafter. Roughly 25-30 minutes later, we noticed multiple cockroaches crawling on the ceiling above us. Alarmed and uncomfortable, we politely requested to cancel our food order, explaining the reason to our server. Despite this, the food was brought to our table about 10 minutes later. We reiterated that we had already cancelled due to the pest issue and expressed that we were no longer comfortable eating under those conditions. At this point, a woman--who identified herself as management--approached us. When I calmly repeated our concerns, she stated that we would still be required to pay for half the food because "it was already made," adding that it was "unfair" to the kitchen. We explained that we had communicated with our server well in advance of the food's arrival and that, under the circumstances, we did not believe it was reasonable to be charged. Rather than de-escalate the situation or show any understanding, the woman became confrontational, accused us of "taking advantage" of the venue because we were still using the glassware, and insisted we either pay for everything or leave. When I asked for a moment to discuss our options with my partner, she returned shortly after and curtly stated, "If you feel uncomfortable, leave." She followed up with, "People are here to sit, watch, and eat. If you aren't going to eat, you need to get up or go." Despite her hostility, we remained calm and offered several reasonable solutions: pay for the drinks, relinquish our table, or leave entirely. But instead of resolving things amicably, she escalated the matter by calling security. We were told that the police were being contacted, which we welcomed at that point, believing that an objective third party might help diffuse the situation. What followed was completely disproportionate: four NYPD officers entered the restaurant to address a dispute over food we had not eaten--after expressing concern about visible pests in the dining area. The officers, to their credit, were professional and respectful. However, the fact that our evening deteriorated to the point of a police presence was nothing short of surreal and deeply humiliating. Following the incident, I researched other reviews and found that ours was not an isolated experience. Multiple patrons have described similar issues with poor treatment and questionable hygiene. I also learned that the woman who claimed to be management had allegedly given false information about her identity and role. Stopped by for their $22 bottomless brunch for 60 minutes. Had chicken and waffles, the brunch burger and the Mac n cheese. I definitely recommend the chicken and waffles and Mac n cheese. The food was pretty good, and so was the music, it was pretty crowded, but started to clear out once brunch was over. Reservation is recommended. They have a pirate or shipwreck decor. I've been multiple times and the menu has changed a bit but the food is always good. Yes there's a pulse deal, but if you decide to use it you won't be able to make any substitutions and you'll have to stick to the brunch menu only. read more

They had a live DJ playing all the current hits and amazing throwbacks. We were only able to get one carafe per two people and the Spritz didn't taste like anything but seltzer water. However; the mimosa and the pineapple mint are good. The hostess sat me down, then my friend came but no one came to our table, I had to ask the hostess for a waitress; when the girls were just huddling in the corner giggling. Even after she asked one to tend to us, I had to ask a second time. And I'm confused as to why they have to hold a card if I have a paid pulsd. And the biggest thing was the bright light that was shown us I guess to indicate our time was up, but it was empty by 4 pm; so why????!!! It was very annoying. As if they're kicking us out. Other than that food was good, dj was good, nice place, nice decor, drinks are good. But please refrain from shining that light on people. If you come to this place don't expect any of those things. Our waitress seems to have never waitressed before she had many missteps ib Including, bringing coffee without sugar, checking on the food and then not checking back with the table to let them know what's happening with the food that's taking over 30 minutes. One person on the staff eating standing by the front door shoveling food into their faces is also a hard no. Unless you need to sit down, keep walking. In NYC during the World Cup and just happened to pass by this place. It advertised the games all over the outside and when you went in, TVs surrounding the entire place were tuned in to the match. It was humiliating, upsetting, and completely disproportionate to the situation. After the incident, I looked into reviews and found multiple past complaints about poor treatment-- I can't help but feel this was not just poor customer service, but a complete disregard for respect, empathy, or basic decency. To make matters worse, the woman who claimed to be management lied about both her name and her position. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry, I understand how chaotic service can be. But there is no excuse for the rudeness, dishonesty, and aggressive response we encountered. If this business cared at all about customer experience or public safety, they would take incidents like this seriously and handle them with professionalism--not call the police on people who did nothing more than express discomfort and try to leave peacefully. We will be filing a formal complaint with the health department because if roaches are crawling around in public view, I would hate to see what is hidden behind closed doors. The food at Wicked Willy's is magnificent, and the drinks are strong. The servers there are also friendly and make great recommendations. You will get the most for your money. I have dined twice and each time was a great experience. The Baked Salmon is my personally recommended favorite. The LIVE music is a good addition, and the Karaoke night is a fun experience. Sound check needs to be performed felt like some of the speakers peaked frequently, so it's not the best place for a conversation. Other than that, I have no complaints about this location. Next time I go, I have to check out the back beer pong tables. Currently that is my only regret. read more

So amazing! I came here with my friend for the bottomless brunch (on a Thursday) and it was so lovely! We got 3 pitchers of the pineapple mint punch. The drink was so good, and our waitress was great at making sure we were always full with drinks! I got the eggs Benedict a la Normandy, and it was amazing! It came with hash browns and a small salad! My friend got the huevos rancheros, which were amazing! We also got the sweet potato fries, which were super crispy, and deliciously seasoned! The entire restaurant was so cute! The entire inside was decorated with fairy lights and pirate/sea themed items! Such a cute atmosphere! And the place was decorated amazingly!
