Well, I honestly have to say I am really disappointed in the service here. I am a single girl who can't cook so I dine out 24/7 and RARELY leave a review however I feel that if I do maybe something can change for the next guest trying to enjoy an experience. It's really hard to be in a joyful mood when you are not being attended to. I did receive a glass of water at the very beginning, that was nice, after that everything was basically as if I was invisible. The system was order first then find seats, which seemed like making the turnaround time indeed faster. Really loved the well-lit space with chill vibes, both the indoor dining area and the outdoor patio. For those coming in bigger group, there were some communal long table inside. We got their Fish Fingers sandwich, then added halloumi and scrambled egg on the side. After deciding on what we wanted and then finally getting to the register to place our order after waiting in line, we were told that they just switched to their Happy Hour menu. The cashier did try to see if the kitchen would be willing to make the items we initially wanted but they had switched over to the happy hour menu which has less food items than the other menu. Wanted to try this place cause a friend who is also gluten-free recommended it. I am also vegan so it's always exciting to find new places that cater to those limitations. I'll start by saying that parking is kind of a nightmare. I came around 2pm on a Wednesday and took 20 minutes just to find a spot. The setting is cute. A little crammed in the actual seating areas and a lot of open space that just isn't used it seems. The staff wasn't the most helpful when asking about gf/vegan options and it seems that the only way they make something gf is by removing something instead of replacing. For example, I got the crispy hippie wrap and to make it gf they removed the wrap and made it a bowl which kind of sucked cause a wrap would have been nice and a lot of other places in LA would offer a gf wrap option etc... I also got fries which were just ok for $6, as well as a raspberry matcha which I split with my boyfriend and that was honestly really good. The bowl was pretty good too but there aren't any protein options if you're vegan, like at all which is a big reason for my rating. Another reason is the time it took. We got the drink maybe 5-7 minutes after ordering (all take-out) and then sat there at least 30-40 minutes (the place wasn't that busy) just waiting for fries and a bowl to-go. They apologized for the wait time but this was pretty off-putting. I'd come back, maybe to try something else just not sure what I'd get, so maybe just a drink since that was pretty good. But the aesthetics of the space are nice, and there is outdoor seating. I wasn't seated next to any outlets, so I had to leave once my laptop died. They have waitstaff, but I don't think they take orders. I sat down first and noticed no servers came over to me, so I ordered at the counter. As for lunch, I got the pibil bowl, and it was pretty good. The tostada was the right amount of crispy. I found a spot at the counter and ordered some items from happy hour.. I got the Brussel sprouts, friend artichoke and a glass of rose. Came here with some friends for the first time for all of us on a Sunday afternoon. I really love the vibe inside, everyone is chill and smiling and the restaurant is spacious and clean. Highly Likely is still going strong and still my favorite neighborhood haunt. They have recently made the patio more covered and sort of "formal" which makes it "nicer" but it also makes the space tighter, crowded, darker and less casual. The sun doesn't hit this side of the street and now with the real built enclosure it's darker. I walked in and was a bit confused as to how this worked, there were servers but there was also a line in front of the bar. I got in the line and asked the person in front of me how this worked, was the cashier just for the people sitting at the bar? I was told that we placed the order with the cashier, and we would get a number and then we could find a table. He added that once we had a table, we could use that number to order additional items. I grabbed a couple of menus and then stood in line. When it was my turn to order, my immediate thought was, I hope this guy had a really bad night because I would hate to think that any business would think this demeanor would be acceptable, in short, it amounted to "What do you want and please hurry", he took the order without responding to my cheerful good morning and he didn't say Thank You after we placed the order. We ordered a fish sandwich and fish n chips. We went to sit and couldn't find a table. We finally found a table with dirty dishes and grabbed it. It took 15 minutes for someone to clear the stacked dishes from the table and another 30 minutes for the food to be delivered. I was ready for a refill long before the food came out and kept thinking, if you cannot flag down a server, how am I supposed to order a refill? When the food arrived, I was a bit confused, the price difference between the fish and chips and the fish sandwich was 50 cents yet the fish and chips had twice the amount of fish and it came with fries and a salad, the fish sandwich came with pickles. The food was mediocre, and I found myself puzzled by tarter sauce. I was the one who wanted the fish sandwich, and I left hungry wishing the cashier had asked, do you want fries or another side with the sandwich? He didn't even come back to the register as another team member had to step up. It was a very odd situation. But it gave bad vibes. I love how late this cafe is open since so many spots in LA close early. I stopped by here on a rainy weekend evening and it was nice and calm. The space is very large and the seats are super comfy. I think they only offer wifi during the weekdays so it's something to keep in mind if you're trying to get work done. I think this would be a great place to put your head down and get some studying done. Street parking is also nice and easy so you don't have to stress about meters and time limits. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. It comes unsweetened which was a bit too bland for me so I asked them for some vanilla sweetener which definitely helped. Highly Likely is an all-day coffee shop/wine bar/cafe on Jefferson in West Adams. It has a few locations now, but this one is the original, a neighborhood concept that did well enough to try out elsewhere. I went for a birthday party, which took over the entire space for four hours on a Saturday evening. It was a fun venue that accommodated a large crowd, both inside and on a pleasant front patio. The space was attractive in a 2010s Arts Districty way, with lots of plants and lights and an unfinished ceiling. The acoustics weren't ideal--it definitely got loud in there. There was a bartender on duty pouring a selection of four wines throughout the party. He was speedy and nice, and the wines were great. I tried the Felix "GV," the Wavy Wines LS Gris, and the Domaine Majas--a Grüner Veltliner, a skin contact blend, and a red blend. All tasty and easy to drink. We had dinner plans, but I couldn't resist some of the food going around. It looked delicious and the staff kept it coming. The harissa meatballs were tender and flavorful, made with pork and beef, served with harissa tomato sauce and feta. The falafel bites were lovely, crispy nuggets with whipped miso tahini, s'chug, and pickled red onion. I also enjoyed the maitake crostini, with maitake mushroom, miso tahini, pomegranate molasses, herbs, and Korean chili flakes on sliced baguette. I don't know what Highly Likely is like during normal business hours, but it was a good place for a big party. I'd be happy to go back to eat more food and drink more wine. read more
