This place is a vibe. I did not grow up with this term in the schoolyard so I had to search what it meant to ensure I was using it right. And basically vibe is a non literal way of saying that a place has a striking and specific atmosphere that matches the objective of the place. For instance, if a beach has a vibe than it offers all that a beach should in a clear and present kind of way. And this place offers a multi-functional coffee house vibe that is clear and present. For instance, I can easily see friends catching up over latte's and croissants and feeling cozy enough to make the chat lazy in a most wonderful way, like laying on a bean bag with no midterms or mortgage payments near. I can also see people producing here. Whether it be beats, plays, books, or corporate re-structuring plan this place has a vibe that communicates one can focus to create. And that is the kind of vibe I like, cause it is the kind of vibe I need when I seek to produce. The focal point of the vibe were the work pods of the place. I took a picture of them and the way I did makes them seem like a row of catacombs or something like that. Something with infinite pillars. Why is sitting in pod important? Will my prose really be that much more impactful if I sit in a pod from this place as oppose to my kitchen table or a regular table that this place offers? Maybe. Perhaps not. But, like, science cannot explain why coffee taste better out of one's "coffee mug" but if one is a coffee drinker and one has a designated mug of their own, then one knows that coffee does taste more exquisite when the mug and the pour become one as vessel and brew. I am thinking the same concept applies here just in a different kind of way. Meaning that the work pod might not have any actual effect but a quasi-placebo or even self-fulfilling prophecy effect take place and make the person impacted produce work that sings better. I know my signatures are better when I use my favorite pen. I read a sign on the pods that ask visitors to only stay for 90 minutes, no more. So the pods of this place are regulated so they must be that important. And I can see why. At the basic level they are engaging to sit in and write within them. The last time I went I ordered one of the best iced coffees I ever had in my life and that is no cap. That felt good writhing, so I will say it anew: I ordered one of the best iced coffees I ever had. Meaning that on a random day, where I expected little, I try something new that makes me happy to be open to new cuisine even if the new cuisine is just a new flavor: Barry White. It was black berry with white chocolate. I expected the combination to fail in pleasing me. But I was wrong. Me. Not the drink. I loved the sweetness of the concoction. I also ordered their sweet potato chicken bowl. Another great set of bites, but not to my liking because I did not ask for the chili to be removed from the chicken bowl. But if the chili was gone I would have described this dish as the bomb or something similar. But the coffee takes the cake. I visited the place just yesterday and they had an exhibition titled the heartbeat of culture. I took a picture of two women just outside the bussiness on a festival day. They were wearing clothing of their cutlture. They were standing tall in pride, supporting each other, and reminding me that all people have a heart that shines brighter when they are wearing something that makes them feel powerful with color pop. This place is certainly a move when one is at Leimert Park or if one needs a place to work and they are just over the Hollywood coffee scene. read more

Came in on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty full. I've been meaning to visit and finally made time. The space is open with high ceilings and had amazing photographs throughout. The natural light makes it a very welcoming environment. I ordered matcha and the turkey bacon and egg sandwich. It took about 10 min; they had a steady flow of traffic. The matcha was perfection and had excellent flavor (I got almond milk and lavender). The sandwich was also tasty and I LOVE that they have a turkey bacon option. Minus a star for lack of outlets- looked like they only had one section with a handful of outlets in the corner and none anywhere else. I'm a huge fan of this place! Came here to study on a Friday morning. There's a ton of seating, good amount of outlets, and it's overall just a great space for locking into your work. The space is decorated nicely and the music/playlist was great. I ordered an iced flat white and it was perfectly balanced. The staff was very kind and helped me with figuring out the wifi. They've maintained a soulful vegan/vegetarian menu that's healthy and hits the palate just right. The Buffalo Cauliflower wrap is a favorite of mine, but it is pretty spicy. They have specialty drinks that are far from the ordinary like the Barry White Latte. My cousin was daring enough to try the Watermelon Cold brew and loved it. I've gotten the Blue Spirulina a few times and find it to be a nice mellow herbal latte to sip while strolling along Degnan. Starting the New Year off right with intentional support of this great black-owned business is a great step to take. I stopped by for a late breakfast/brunch with my partner and two friends. It was my first visit. We found parking easily, but it could be due to the holiday. The place itself is clean, open and has minimalist decor that lends to a welcoming vibe featuring some really cool photography on the walls. The menu is definitely pared down, but there is variety enough for various moods and tastes. I had the avocado toast minus goat cheese and a raspberry (I believe) hibiscus iced tea. The pricing is fair for an individual-owned restaurant. I didn't experience any bad service and even when the gent calling out names had to repeat mine because I wasn't sure I'd heard right, he wasn't annoyed at all. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and cool. I am not being dramatic when I say this may be the best avocado toast I've ever had. The portion was a single slice of toast, but it was loaded high with fresh, delicately arranged ingredients. It wasn't too salty, which a lot of places make the mistake of making avo toast. It along with the delicious tea was literally the best first meal of the year I could imagine. The bathroom was clean and also featured more of that same rad photography inside on the walls. All in all, a truly wonderful experience! Walking back to the car past a dude playing conga drums and others just outside enjoying the day added to a wonderfully community-based feeling. I recommend! And I will likely be pin ring people in the direction of this place if they're in LA proper for the avocado toast alone! I love this space! When you walk in, its quiet with lots of room to sit, work or eat. I came in with a friend and we walked up to the counter and was greeted politely. My friend ordered a mango smoothie and the lentils. I ordered the berry smoothie and the ORA avocado toast. We were both pleased with the taste, portion and speed of the food delivery. I will definitely come back for another bite to eat or sip to drink. I had an outstanding experience here at ORA. The service was immaculate I had the BLT it was phenomenal and made with quality ingredients, they use beef bacon. Next time I be trying g the burrito, the team that was on staff Kimoni, Karina, Eric , and Devon. The bathroom was immaculate, clean like a bathroom. Everything stayed stocked. I got the lavender honey latte and the coffee tasted good, although it was really sweet. My friend got the rose vanilla and it was way too sweet for her. The coffee itself is solid but I think they overdid it on the syrups. I absolutely love Ora. It is the perfect space for good coffee, good food, good music, and an overall productive energy. Aside from the coffee, the natural sunlight makes you feel more energized and motivated to work, socialize, and take on the world. The baristas are always helpful, from sharing a funny joke, to being gracious when you have a brain freeze (I have quite a bit of those), to helping you decide what you want to order, I think the baristas help create the atmosphere for creatives to feel safe enough to hang out. I've been many times and always find parking as well as a seat to enjoy my drink and bite or tunnel in to do some work. The children enjoyed the vegan sliders and finished everything, while the parents fell in love with the vegan nachos and appreciated the generous portions. This place is horrible. The person taking our order behind the counter was very out of it! They had to apologize several times to us because she simply wasn't listening, was daydreaming and looking out of the door the whole time we spoke our order and we had to repeatedly tell her. It actually felt like I was being pranked by whoopi goldberg at first. Not hearing is reasonable, but this was behind that and she didn't even bother to stand up and not lean on the counter like she was falling asleep.
