And when we walked in there were people waiting in the lobby saying that you needed to scan the QR code for the menu because the server was busy no one welcomed us. No one greeted us at the front. My dad's choice was this sweet little restaurant, from outside I thought there was no seating but they had a back patio full of little tables and picnic tables. I stopped by here for a coffee at the end of my morning walk. I got a medium vanilla latte with almond milk. It tasted how I expected it to. Good but nothing particularly unique. So I was surprised that the latte cost $9. I think that's too much for a vanilla latte with nothing extra except almond milk. Off of first impressions it looks like a cool brunch spot, I just stopped in for coffee before going to the park. The staff was really friendly the place was massive. They offer valet parking but there wasn't much parking off the street. The coffee was good but it was also like 90% milk and 1 shot of espresso. Also this was $8.50 for 1 coffee..... why is this so expensive?? I would really like to come back and try the food but the initial visit is deterring me from coming back. EDIT - I'm updating my review because today I found out that their vanilla latte is actually $5.75. They charged me 8.50. Even with tax it should be $6.33. Customer service is currently not up to par. At least from this mornings experience. I was excited to frequent a place I've been coming to for years and watched grow and referred countless clients. I used to live in the area ten years ago and frequented Vee's Cafe back then. It was a great cozy brunch coffee spot we loved. Happened to be in the area recently and decided to pick up a sandwich and some coffee for old times sake. Wish I hadn't done that now and left good memories as-is. The spicy chicken panini i fondly remembered was now 21.75 and wasn't as delicious as it used to be. Overall quality was not the same- now it comes with fries instead of a side salad. The sandwich itself did not justify the price tag. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how they can price this sub par panini at over $20. Is this West Adams pricing? It's more than DTLA! The coffee wasn't as good as it used to be either. They use the cheap syrups. I am so disappointed with the overall experience. It is a bit hidden and has a very relaxing atmosphere. There's no public parking and bathrooms are not connected, i.e. you have to ask for a key and take a stroll to the bathroom, which are clean and sanitary. The food is ok. We had waffles that had a lot of fresh fruit and well presented. It was a good combo with good scrambled eggs and bacon. We prefer waffles that are a bit less dense. So now it's five days since my friend and I tried to have lunch there and they never brought me the food so we had no choice but to cancel our order and leave and request a refund. Ended up hanging up and going into the restaurant where no one greeted me. Typically you check in or put your name down with the front staff. This is so disappointing I have very sensitive stomach. I ordered the oatmeal breakfast for that reason, after I had eaten everything I found a roach in my plate I don't know if I ate any eww. I didn't tell anyone because they had people eating there and didn't want to feel like they had anything in their plate too. Not even Vicky's next door has the audacity to price their chilaquiles at 30 something freaking dollars!!! ( honestly should've just stuck to Vicky's or LA Prime down the street). We opted out of the protein and still paid $54 dollars. I take full responsibility for my child and as someone who works with kids and has been a server, I am mindful of what my child does and I wouldn't allow him to behave inappropriately. With that being said, my son was accused of scratching a table with a butter knife. The man who approached me could have voiced his concern in a very different way.
