Been coming here for years now. My favorite go to Mexican sit diwn breakfast. They have everything from chilaquiles, to huevos rancheros, to camarones à la Diabla. Will always recommend this place to everyone I know. Staff is always so friendly, and you know what I actually love that they don't play any music inside. It's nice when the hustle and bustle of the city gets too loud and over stimulating. Well, here I am back six months later! I had the cravings for CJ's chicken sausage and grits! When I tell you has gotten worse OMG! First let me begin with the size of the pitiful little patties they give you. The size just a little bit bigger than a quarter,I kid you not! Two eggs,2pc toast bowl grits,and these 3 quarters size patties! $18. and some crazy odd cents why? I don't know, since they ard trying to ban pennies! By the way don't know what they did to the recipe,but it taste like it has apple cider vinegar in it to me! Just awful I tell you. I will eventually go back,but definitely won't order that. CJ's ruined that great chicken sausage they had,thd presentation on the plate is even terrible, years ago you were giving two thick pieces that looked like big steak burgers patties! If I sound like I'm ranting,it's because I am! My friend had pork chops,one had bacon, and they said it was good. The grits were good though,and my eggs were over medium and had a great presentation. We always come here when we think about having breakfast. There are so many options on the menu to choose from. The staff are always so welcoming and they are always smiling. We always sit at the booths along the wall on the right side. The table and seats are always clean. The tables have so many condiments readily available for us to choose from, hot sauces: Cholula, Red Rooster, Tabasco, Tapatio creamer: hazelnut, french vanilla, half & half Smuckers jams: grape, strawberry, mixed berries salt and pepper, ketchup and A1 steak sauce We always order the same exact thing, every time we come. 1) 3 chicken wings BEST CHICKEN WINGS I'VE EVER HAD! Deep fried to perfection, golden and cripsy outside, fully cooked moist chicken inside. with soft scrambled eggs, waffle (slightly crispy outside and soft fluffy inside) and coffee. 2) 3 chicken wings (I just can't say enough about these amazing wings (my mouth is watering just thinking about this) with eggs over hard, waffle and decaffeinated coffee, 3) bowl of grits with crumbled bacon and shredded cheese with butter. We arrived at the perfect time for late breakfast/early lunch at CJ's. It was on 1-10-26 around 12pm and we were seated right away in a booth with no waiting. I ordered the polish sausage and egg breakfast which is always good along with the largest iced tea you will find. Our server was Monica and she is always nice, professional and great service to us. The food is great and consistent and service is great but the servers except a couple do tend to not be so welcoming and I have seen people being chastised and many times ignored intentionally including myself . Managers are super great but I think they don't see what is out there happening and my feelings are not hurt but I enjoy my visits less . read more

Me and my wife ordered breakfast from this restaurant. My wife ordered the food through DoorDash app. I ordered the chicken sausage plate with eggs, potatoes and toast. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by staff. Staff were friendly and polite. We picked up the food when the food was ready. The chicken sausage was delicious and seasoned well. The eggs were cooked well but the potatoes needed a little more seasoning. The meal was filling and very reasonable. Came here after a funeral service and there was about 10-12 of us on a Sat approx 1-2pm. They were able to accommodate us, which was nice. There's a huge menu that includes Southern and Mexican dishes also Smoothies & Juices. Everyone pretty much ordered something different and all enjoyed their food. My husband got the Chilaquiles and I ordered the Catfish breakfast. The catfish was a bit thin and I've had better; but it was doable! The servers were really nice and handled our group just fine. The restaurant is in a strip mall and parking is kinda tight; but there is parking in the back. It's a cool diner feel that's larger! Yelp gives a 3, if there were half stars, I'd give a 3 1/2. Service, this time around (the whole crew chipped in as opposed to anyone individual) was spot on as usual. Y'all know I love CJs. I had the 2 eggs add cheese with sausages, potatoes and toast. Everything was flavorful as usual, hot and fresh. Service is always quick and staff are friendly. Always a happy place, quality food, clean, friendly servers. They have a huge menu with great variety and they sell a lot of specialty juices, too. Beyond this, it's always been the extra little things that makes them a favorite. They offer cottage cheese as a side which easily ups your daily protein and has been hard to find in diners. The potatoes are real, not some unrecognizable little nuggets. The oatmeal is the hearty whole grain kind, and they have genuine sourdough and even English muffins among their many bread choices, as well as tortillas. Cj's cafe is located in midtown area in a large shopping center so Parking is simple to find The Ambiance when you get in is nothing special to be honest but you have a typical diner The service is pretty friendly they were very attentive and helpful as well The food I got the hard shell tacos because apparently that's what they are known for and man lemme tell you they are so addicting ! I thought the atmosphere of this restaurant was very nice. There was a moderate level of noise with a lot of friendly chatter. I had five people in my party and the waitresses pushed together two tables for all of us. I got the Greek omelette with grits and toast. I have now found another favorite diner-style food place in LA! I love the non-descript style inside and out. It's a simple place with simply fantastic-tasting home-style food. I had the catfish dinner with collard greens and black-eyed peas as my side dishes. The fried catfish was light like it was air-fried or something. It sure was good! Collard greens and black-eyed peas were the best I've had. Nice smoky flavor with just the right amount of bacon flavor. Oh, man. I'm getting hungry again just writing this review. My friend had fried chicken wings with a waffle. The chicken was not greasy at all. These guys know how to fry stuff right. That's for sure! 3.5 stars is just about right. CJ's has a large menu with enough variety to satisfy everyone, from Mexican to American, to soul food and this is borne out by the diverse crowd of patrons. They also have quite a few juices on the menu if you're into that sort of thing. Breakfast is always a sure bet and the few times I've had their menudo it's been just fine, but charging an extra two bucks to add hominy is *not* cool. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Good, if not exceptional, neighborhood joint. read more

Parking is pretty easy around CJs. I tried the Watermelon, Strawberry and Mint Juice.... So good and so fresh! I ordered the Pico Burger which I thought was great. The burger patty was "smashed" and well done which was very tasty and how I like it. The Onion Rings were perfectly fried. My wife had a tuna sandwich and had no complaints.
