We shared the smores bread pudding and donuts. The smores bread pudding is a must. Ask for michelle she took great care if us, informing us about the rewards program. Coming Soon! With renovations coming to completion very soon, I had the privilege of attending a tasting event at the *new Highland House restaurant at the Dunedin Golf Club. What a treat! Restaurant decor is modern and fresh with an homage to the Scottish history of Dunedin and a revival of a Donald Ross golf course. Sneak peak including a sampling of many of the unique Craft Cocktails and bites of different food delights from the menu. Everything was delicious, staff was excited to be part of the new beginnings and we can't wait until the project is complete and the Highland House is open!! Came in from an ad on Facebook. Unfortunately, Thursday is karaoke and honestly it was sooo loud that we couldn't hold a conversation with our neighbors even though we were seated the farthest part of the dining area away from the speakers. Just suggest you start karaoke after 8 or 9pm and let your dinner guests enjoy their dinner with some conversation. Now, on to the food. All in all very good! I got the BLT and it was nice size with lots of bacon and nice ripe tomatoes. The lettuce was shredded which was a little weird and messy but still a great choice. I added brussel sprouts and they also had tons of bacon and nice in crisp. Hubby got the steak. Cooked perfectly and said definitely a 4 out of 5. Neighbors got the grouper sandwich. Not a great size for the price but still good. Other neighbor got the pasta and he said it was disappointing. Not fully cooked but he said nothing to management so I can't fault them for not fixing it. Server Lydia was sweet and friendly and we will definitely ask for her next time we come. They do have daily specials and want to try the wings and burger so will come in on a different day to check them out. All in all a great time. read more

Came on a Friday for Fishfry, and the place was basically empty....should have been sufficient warning to turn around, but we stayed. First words out of our servers mouth were "welcome, we're a part of the Black Pearl restaurant downtown....." as if we should expect some kind of extraordinary dining experience. Fish fry was awful, greasy and soggy. Entire table was disappointed with the food, and if you expect anything in the way of ambience, forget it. Dunedin politicians never quite seem to understand that ITS RESIDENTS DONT ALWAYS APPRECIATE THEIR SPENDING HABITS ON THEIR DIME. Just wanted to get something close and this is around the corner. Ordered a burger and fries...you have to order/pay for the fries as a side (ridiculous)... at 6:20pm. Online order said it would be ready at 6:45pm. I'm STILL sitting here waiting for 1burger and fries to go, and it is 7:05pm. Snippy server tells me-- well they have a full house (a 30 and a 12 top). However the 30 were finished eating by the time I even got there because I watched them do awards as I stood, unattended, and waiting for someone who worked there at the hostess stand. SO that has nothing to do with my order, unless a restaurant can't handle ONE to go burger along with a few tables. What a waste of time, 45 minutes! Also, as mentioned, I stood looking for someone who worked there for quite a few minutes. no one was at the hostess stand so I went into the bar and was unlucky again, as there was no bartender either. Waiting, I finally I spotted a man doing something back at the hostess stand so I went and asked him if he could help me. I told him I was doing a pick up. He went to the kitchen and came back and walked right past me and never said another word to me. Over the 45 mins,at least 3-4 employees passed by me standing alone at the hostess stand, and not a single one acknowledged or asked if they could help. Finally a young kid, maybe a barrack, stopped and asked I Id been helped, to which I assumed NOT, since the older gentleman never said another word to me,. This was 25 minutes into my wait! He came out and said theres still another 10-15 minutes to go. After 15 mins I caught the snippy server and told her I'd been waiting too long. She went and checked and came back saying there were still other orders ahead of mine! I left. It was another disappointing visit to Highland House. over it. read more

A hidden gem! We just discovered this restaurant at the Dunedin Golf Club that's open to the public. The French Dip and homemade chips weee excellent as well as the service. We are outside on the covered patio and had a beautiful view of the golf course during sunset. We'll be back. read more

Had heard the restaurant at Dunedin Golf Course was good and for a limited menu I thought both dishes ordered were in fact good. As I said it's a limited menu and after trying to figure out what to have I settled on a their burger and a side of fries. Companion had the salmon which was tasty as well. Service was attentive and pleasant. Atmosphere was pleasant however a live guitar performer who was good made it difficult to carry on table conversation. Now for the items I didn't care for. While I recognize prices have gone up on everything I think $22 for a burger and fries is a bit excessive? If you're going to charge 18 bucks for a burger at least throw in the fries...imho. Second thing, while service was in fact good adding 20% on automatically is a turn off for me. Let me decide what the appropriate tip is and yes the young lady who waited on us was in fact worth 20% but again I would like to make that call. Lastly, kind of a strange menu in that items offered didn't really follow any kind of theme. I think restaurants at golf courses are hard to establish in terms of an identity or I should say a stand alone identity since the 19th hole syndrome will always exist. My take is that this may be better for lunch than dinner and I will probably try that the next time. read more

The service and the food were horrible. The pasta at today's luncheon had sauce on it that tasted like right from the jar crushed tomatoes. The salad with that chicken, was barely edible. The chicken was way overcooked and you couldn't cut it at all. The brownie was overcooked also. read more

Food served finally, warm not hot, appetizers ok nothing to write home about. I ordered crab cake, it was ok, served on Cole slaw with a remoulade sauce, very small crab cake, up charge of 10.00. Others had deviled eggs, too much mayo and no spice, or gorzonola stuffed date wrapped in bacon, was ok. Out of stuffed mushrooms. Keep in mind this is a fixed menu. When I made reservations I specifically asked if this was full menu and was assured it was. It was not. Next soup or salad, I had ginger carrot with crème fresh, I tasted no ginger and was again Luke warm. Others opted for "loaded potato soup and were not impressed. The main course was no longer offering pancakes: lemon blueberries, out of side of hash-browns. Next quiche: pastry was not fully cooked, filling dried out and serving was very small and only one inch thick. Three of us ordered ham with scrambled eggs with a side. Mine was asparagus which were good. The ham, dried out served with a ladle of sweet sauce. Eggs were lukewarm warm. Others ordered fruit bowl. Straight out of a public's fruit bowl, hard melon and Hugh bites! Last course dessert: two offerings, chocolate torte with raspberry sauce not available or beignets. Beignets were served with raspberry sauce. The sauce again good, the beignets were very greasy, a touch of powdered sugar and not fully cooked. To say this meal for all four of us was disappointing is being kind. The insult was making the server ask for extra tip as the "service charge" demanded was shared by the kitchen staff. My husband and I came for just some small bites and one drink during happy hour, but with the service and quality, it turned into some entrees and a couple of drinks . Our server, Kelly, gave us excellent recommendations and was very attentive. The view of the oak trees and golf course were the perfect complement to the new renovations. We went there for the prime rib Saturday night special. The meat was delicious and a nice portion, it came with potatoes and veggies which were not warm and a small portion in comparison to the meat. I also didn't like being charged an automatic 20% for gratuity, it was just 2 of us, not a large party. Not cool, I complained to manager and he offered a free dessert next time we go there. Kelly the bartender and the GM Robert were so nice and welcoming! Scratch kitchen so our food was on point and probably unlocked a new craving for the French Dip sandwich. I hosted a luncheon for 22 women on a Monday. They seated us at 4 tables in the space overlooking the golf course. Our server, Kelly, went above and beyond to make our luncheon special. She even brought an extra small table for our sign in. We elected to have separate checks and order off the menu. Naturally the food wasn't served all at once, but that was fine with us since we're all good friends and there are never any awkward silences! It was a great experience and kudos to Kelly! read more

Hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. First I ordered for both of us, two prime rib specials, tomato soup for my date and French onion for myself. The waitress didn't even acknowledge my date and assumed she just wanted soup. Manager apologized for the miss communication and went and "fired up" another prime rib. Ok miscommunication no big deal. We had the soup to hold us over right? Wrong! We had canned tomato sauce and dirty water with onions and melted cheese in it. Absolutely no flavor. Finally the second prime rib came out this time with horseradish sauce on the side. The only redeeming quality about this entire meal was the baked potato. The meat was flavorless and pale as if they boiled it, the "salad" was Julienned and while flavorful not a pleasant flavor... 0/5 stars would not recommend to anyone but kitchen nightmares. read more

6 of us went for dinner on a Friday evening. We sat outside to avoid the "too loud" live music. We were greeted by a pleasant waitress. Drinks were fine and fairly priced. Dinner order was taken. Soups were delivered. 1 was wrong. Tomato soup needed salt and French onion was bland. We asked for napkins. Soup spoons did come with the soup. Once the 1 soup was replaced, we asked for napkins again. Dinners came out and we were asked if we needed anything else. Yes we did. Napkins and silverware. Fish and Chips and Salmon were good. Burger was ok. BLT was a mayo sandwich on soggy bread. Pasta was tasteless and cheese in center of dish was cold which (maybe) made the pasta Lukewarm at best. Would we go back? All 6 said no! To top it off, a 20% service fee was charged, probably because table of 6. Server wasn't worth 20%. Sorry. read more

We were two ladies that sat at the bar on Sunday around 12:30 today. One of us is a member at Dunedin Golf Club. It was my first time. Very few people were in with the exception of a table of 3 managers/staff who were having a meeting at a table in the restaurant. We could hear a lot of their conversation without trying. Maybe they should use another room away from customers for the meetings. They were obviously not paying attention to what goes on in the restaurant, or don't care, based on our bad experience. 4 men come in and sat across from us at the bar. They were very loud, obnoxious, and saying "fu....." in almost every sentence. I said something to the bartender and he said "you are in a clubhouse and it will get worse." Management never said anything to them in over 20 minutes. In addition to us being there, a father and his young daughter were sitting behind them. One of the management guys went over to one of the men cussing every other sentence and gave him a high five! Finally the bartender went over and said to the men " this is a clubhouse, not a locker room." They said "we will go outside and bother others." The non action that we observed from management told us this is acceptable behavior at Highland House. I have been to many golf club restaurants and men take off their hats and respect those around them. read more

Our BLT had one slice on bacon on a half, the french fries were old, cold and hard, and the cobb salad crusted chicken was cold. There was no dressing. The grouper sandwich had the smallest piece of grouper I have ever had; fries were served too overcooked to eat; French onion soup was like no other French onion soup we have ever had and was inedible.
