The Honu is a hidden gem in Dunedin! Once you are inside, you are transported to a legit Tiki bar! The décor is fun and eclectic, and there is plenty of outdoor seating in the back. I sat at the bar and had friendly service. I ordered the Ube Colada (mocktail) and the mixed plate, which came with Huli Huli chicken, Kalua pork, sushi rice, and potato-mac salad. The drink was perfectly made and beautifully presented. The food was outstanding! Highly recommend checking this place out and enjoying the vibes!

I hadn't been here in a few years and wow they've only continued to get better and better. We sat outside in the back tiki bar area and the vibe was so fun. Their cocktails were amazing and food was delicious!! The service was good. We'll definitely be back soon . I got their drink flight which was so fun! We got the spam masubi (first time trying spam) and I was pleasantly surprised. We also got the fish tacos and Hawaiin mixed plate. All good choices! They have a great thing going on here, you won't be disappointed

Really adorable place with a different vibe than you'll find typically around the area. The outdoor patio and music was very fun and the interior was cute. The food is generally solid with a few outstanding dishes. The meat skewers on the platter were excellent. I tried the shredded Huli chicken sandwich - good buy a little too simple for me. Waitress was great. Prices are reasonable for the area.

The Ube Colada is a must try! I love Ube everything and this one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The place was decorated beautifully and it felt like a Hawaiian paradise. Bartender was very sweet she suggested other local places for my friend and I to check out.

Okay: the Honu is a tiki bar, not a beach bar. What's the difference? They both have thatching and the occasional carved idol, right? Yeah, but the drinks are qualitatively different. Beach bars serve boat drinks: frozen daiquiris, pina coladas, Coronas with lime wedges. Tampa Bay has a lot of beach bars. Tiki bars serve complicated alcohol fantasies. Take the Honu Punch pictured: the menu description reads "Planteray Pineapple, 3 Star White & Dark, JDT Velvet Falernum, Lime, Lemon, Guava, Lilikoi, Pineapple, Orange, Agave Cinnamon Syrup, Angostura Bitters". Tampa Bay has very, very few tiki bars. Fortunately, the Honu is a *great* tiki bar. Their original drinks are good. Their classic drinks are good. And, their ambiance is uniquely Floridian, in the good way: the tiki bar is fully outside. (Most classic tiki bars tend to be dimly lit and fully enclosed; if you want that experience in Tampa, go to Morgan's Cove. But that's a different review.) The service is quick and attentive, and the bartenders are fun to talk to. Do be aware of one downside of an outside bar full of syrups: you may be visited by bees. They probably won't bother you, but don't let them have any mai tais. The Honu is *also* a great restaurant, though. On various visits I've had their Spam musubi (IYKYK), their take on a kalua pork plate lunch, the spicy peanut chicken rice bowl, and the Huli Huli chicken "stack" (a rice and greens bowl). It's all been good, fresh, and flavorful. There's only a small amount of parking right at the Honu, but finding free parking in downtown Dunedin within a short distance is always pretty easy--and it's one of the nicest and most walkable downtowns in Tampa Bay.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. They have some parking in the side of the place for convenience but tons of parking near by. The inside eating area is small with 4 tables but they have plenty of outside seating. In the back they have a tiki bar and I wish we would've sat there because they had a live band and was very lively but we weren't told about it until the end of our meal. The food is very good, we got down musubi which could've had more of a sauce on it to make it a little less dry but still good. I ordered the pork plate and it wasn't dry and very good. The chicken peanut curry bowl was always delicious and the best meal at our table. Super friendly with our server answering all our questions and the drink recommendations were excellent choices. The bathrooms are clean and overall a nice Polynesian - Hawaiian experience

Aloha Tiki bar! What a little local surprise gem tucked into Dunedin's backyard. Holy Tiki sensation this amazing spot gives all the tiki vibes you ever wanted. I cannot tell you how delicious the drinks are here, . I had the UBE piña colada which was excellent, no-ready-mix coladas here, all drinks made expertly with premium ingredients. Great happy hour appetizer and drink menu of their top sellers. Aloha and see you next time brah!

The Honu Is delicious! There is a reason this place has rest reviews because the food is delicious. I ordered the Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich and I didn't leave one crumb. Outside there is a tiki bar with other seating and inside there is a quaint dining area for those who prefer less action. Only minus is I stood outside waiting to be seated for about 8-10 minutes.

Cool chill spot. Wife and I have passed this location many many times so tonight we decided to stop in for dinner. You have tithe option to sit outside, inside and tikibar seating area. We opted to sit inside due to potential rain. Inside was quiet with lots of Hawaiian decor from floor to ceiling. According to our server they have 500 rum drinks to choose from. We are not much of a drinker so we passed on that. They have a small menu that is dedicated to Hawaiian flavors. We ordered PuPu platter and mixed plate. Both were full of flavor and the Pupu platter comes with a little grill to reheat you protein in case it gets cold because you're chitchatting. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely an experience we didn't expect with the mini grill. We will be back to try other items on the menu.

The bar is located on the third floor and we took the elevator to get up there. The atmosphere is an open outdoor bar with tiki themed decor and a DJ. The music was super loud which was not appealing to us but we found a secluded table that was away from the noise. The views from the rooftop are spectacular even if it was way too loud. We ordered one round of drinks and all of them were delicious! I ordered the buttery chi chi which was not super strong which was perfect for me. My partners ordered stronger drinks and both were delicious. The ratings on their menu are definitely accurate for what you can expect from a liquor forward perspective. The bar was slammed so it took a little bit to get our drinks but everyone was very nice. We didn't order any food but would probably return for drinks!

A man who did not identify himself told us we could not have a dog. I calmly explained that he is a trained service dog. I was repeatedly told that he was "not a service dog," accused of lying, and asked multiple times what task he is trained to perform. Each time, I answered that he is an allergy detection service dog. The interaction quickly escalated. The individual raised his voice, used profanity, moved aggressively toward me, and adopted a confrontational posture. His behavior was intimidating and made me feel unsafe, as though he was attempting to physically intimidate me into leaving rather than resolve the situation professionally. At one point, another staff member approached and physically crowded my wife, further escalating an already tense situation. We remained calm and non-confrontational and contacted the police to de-escalate. The responding officers were professional and respectful. A trespass notice was issued, which we complied with. The officers also explained that a trespass notice does not determine whether ADA obligations were met. Our service dog was never disruptive, and we did nothing to provoke this response. I am sharing this experience so ownership is aware and can ensure staff receive proper ADA service-animal training and de-escalation training. No customer should feel intimidated or unsafe when simply trying to enjoy a meal
