Great location if you are looking for a spot to watch the sunset & drinks . Food was ok for the price point. We got a fish sandwich and fish & chips. I'm not even sure what type of fish it was as it wasn't mentioned on the menu. Service was subpar. Could have been friendlier and maybe explained the menu, as in what type of fish is served. And could have warned us that they are not responsible for the seagulls. (Read below) I would recommend this place for drinks and sunset but that's about it. If you do decide to dine there. Beware that you might not get to enjoy your meals as you will be fighting off the seagulls. We ate about half the fish & chip before the seagull came from behind after being in front of us for about 20 minutes and hitting its head on the umbrella several times and ate off the basket. I mentioned it to the server and she just shrugged it off. Saying once they put the food down they are not responsible for the seagulls. Never in my life have I had someone say that to me that and I dine outside establishments a lot. She said she would speak with the manager. Environment: cannot beat it. Way casual. You can go in bathing suits if you want. Gorgeous views. You can sit and watch the boats and kayakers go by. Drinks: love their iced tea, especially after a hot walk or ride out on the causeway. Margs are really good! Food: have only had the Montreal chicken wrap so far and house made chips. The wrap had dry chicken and bacon in it. The chips were awesome--except way over-seasoned and salty. I'll get them again but ask for light it no seasoning. Service: It's okay. Mostly some tired, nonchalant kids milling about not really cari g if they do a great job or not. Will always go back for location and convenience in the area, but wouldn't seek it out for food. We made a pit stop here on our bike ride from Tarpon Springs and it is located RIGHT along the Dunedin Causeway. We just made a quick stop to grab some adult beverages and a small bite to eat for our trek. Upon arrival, we were greeted right away and sat where we wanted to sit, and our waitress was very attentive. You can't ask for anything else. We both had a Sailor's Rum Punch that comes with Spiced and coconut Remberto, Amore ,orange & pineapple juice which; was very refreshing. We also had a Beachside Bellini that comes with Champaign, coconut rum, pineapple juice, which was also good and had nice kick to it. This spot has a nice low-key vibe to it Tiki style. There's a lot of seating and there seating outside the hut, that sits in sand, which is nice. No matter where you sit in the place you're on the causeway so you have a gorgeous view of the Gulf no matter where you look. I wasn't really there to indulge in food. I just wanted a snack so I got a hotdog and chips and my wife got a Chicago style hotdog, nothing to rave about just a great energy booster. All-in-all, I will come back! We walked up to this restaurant hoping to be seated on the outdoor patio to enjoy the sunset. We were accompanied by our service dog, who was leashed, calm, and under control. A man who did not identify himself told us we could not have a dog. I calmly explained that he is a trained service dog. I was repeatedly told that he was "not a service dog," accused of lying, and asked multiple times what task he is trained to perform. Each time, I answered that he is an allergy detection service dog. The interaction quickly escalated. The individual raised his voice, used profanity, moved aggressively toward me, and adopted a confrontational posture. His behavior was intimidating and made me feel unsafe, as though he was attempting to physically intimidate me into leaving rather than resolve the situation professionally. At one point, another staff member approached and physically crowded my wife, further escalating an already tense situation. We remained calm and non-confrontational and contacted the police to de-escalate. The responding officers were professional and respectful. A trespass notice was issued, which we complied with. The officers also explained that a trespass notice does not determine whether ADA obligations were met. Our service dog was never disruptive, and we did nothing to provoke this response. I am sharing this experience so ownership is aware and can ensure staff receive proper ADA service-animal training and de-escalation training. No customer should feel intimidated or unsafe when simply trying to enjoy a meal read more

Extremely convenient place. Good bar, food, hand-ground sausage. Service was really great and the view was spectacular. I ended up with a fiery sausage sandwich that was just dry and on the bun. UPDATE: After seven years, I will update my review. I still go here for drinks. Every time I break down and order food, it is terrible. Do not eat here. This is a great place for a drink. Look at the reviews. Every time someone criticizes the place (and the criticism is legitimate!) the owner attacks the person. Instead of being so defensive, why not consider the fact that the criticism is justified? Look at it: 34 of 109 reviews are one or two stars -- more than 30 percent of the people think you have a problem. You rank at the bottom of all our local restaurants. Figure out what is wrong, then fix it. This is not an attack on you. It is telling you to just make your food better! It is terrible. Don't attack the messenger. The truth is the truth. Your food is awful. One more thing: Proof of how unhinged your attacks are is that I barely drink. The most I have ever drank at your place is one wine at a time or a soda. Great place to get a bite to eat and drinks right on the beach, attached to kayak rentals. Go for a kayak and grab a bite and drink after to watch the sunset! All of the staff were super friendly and attentive. Prices are good- not too expensive for drinks or food. Food was surprisingly good and has a decent variety. High & Dry is a fun yet quaint bar and grill right next to the water/beach. This place offers quick foods like quesadillas, fish sticks, fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders. You can also order chicken sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, and cheeseburgers. We ordered the fish sticks and quesadilla platters...both tasted great! The view of the sunset was strikingly beautiful! Everyone at the Hugh & Dry clapped and applauded the sun setting behind the ocean. So surreal! Four of us locals stopped in to check this place out. The building is interesting as it a tiki roofed open air seating venue. There is a long community table in the center which seats approximately 30 people, a counter runs along the perimeter of half walls with barstools. Some customers opted to be seated at tables on the sand dodging the skydiving seagulls. Good fun, old-time Florida vibe. We were seated immediately and ordered a wine and a beer while waiting for our friends to join us. (They serve beer, wine, champagne and wine-based cocktails, which are reasonably priced) While perusing the menu, our friends arrived. We had fun chatting and watching folks enjoying the intercoastal activities. Emilia provided top-notch service. She saw that we were there for a leisurely lunch. Drinks were replenished in a timely fashion, and when we were ready to order, she was right there. Two friends ordered the 1/3# Charbroiled Burger touted as flame grilled. The frozen burger was disappointing at best. I decided on the Nathan Chicago Hot Dog. It surely didn't come out as described (pickles peppers, tomato, relish and celery salt). The bun was soggy when served and stuck to my fingers (worse than buns from a dollar store). I was given another bun, but it too disintegrated into a gloopy mess. There were three pickled banana peppers, no tomato, relish and an imitation Nathan's hot dog. My guy ordered the Hot Italan Sausage Sandwich. It was custom ground with bell peppers, onions and hot peppers ground in with the sausage. This sausage was on a sturdy roll and very tasty although it was not spicy hot. (The caveat on the menu was 'Caution,this one has some heat!') We loved the fried onion rings which were crispy and delicious. French fries were good too. Based on the atmosphere, view, Emelia's service and the drinks, we would go back. Knowing what we know now, we'd order the sausage, French fries and onion rings. Server was 10/10 awesome! I arrived a few minutes before opening, asked to read the menu and sit outside to wait until they open. After a few minutes of enjoying the peace and view, the manager/owner(s) went absolutely crazy. They were irate that I was allowed to sit and wait quietly near the ropes. I left without ordering a thing, before coming back from my car to tip the server and thank her as well as the person working the rental booth. I would give this place 3.5 stars but Yelp doesn't do half stars. I'd recommend the drinks but maybe skip the food or stick with the appetizers. The drinks here and service was beyond great. Flavorful and had a good amount of alcohol in them. The sailor's punch was perfectly flavored with the different juices and rum that totally complimented each other. The riunite margarita was also delicious. Loved the bottle in it to add flavor and get a little extra as well as you drank the drink down. The shrimp cocktail was I'm almost positive straight from Walmart and garbage. But let's get to why they're getting a one star review. The service was absolutely atrocious. Everything took forever to get to us no matter how minute and then the waitress started being rude to my wife when she leaned in the outdoor roping area, completely rude and unprofessional. This particular waitress had a thick and sweaty mustache and I normally wouldn't mention such things but I literally saw sweat fall from her mustache and into one of our drinks. I was seated quickly and was able to order my drink and food in a matter of minutes. As soon as I ordered my food, it seemed to be ready. I ordered a chili cheese dog which came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. You would be surprised how hard it is to find a good hot dog with decent chili as well- but- look no further!! Everything was reasonably priced and my server was on top of everything the entire time. Whether you want to come with a group of people or by yourself, I think this is a great spot to hangout. Another person ordered the hot sausage but it was beyond just hot and he couldn't eat it. We ordered pretzel balls but weren't told they came covered in spicy items - again inedible. I was on a nature bike ride (air b&b excursion) and when I stopped at the first restaurant this lady spoke about the spot so we decided to check it out while we were leaving honeymoon island. Truly it's nothing special, it's just a place to just stop right quick grab a drink or so and then pretty much leave. Then what really turned me off is the fact that they don't give out straws due to what it does to the environment. And if you do want straws it's a dollar per straw. So we purchased them anyway and purchased the water and Powerade. Drank and then Decided to hit the road. We went here after kayaking and it was perfect. We didn't want to drive around or walk somewhere else to eat. Standard bar and grill menu- food was okay and reasonably priced. My shrimp tacos were bland but edible. My husband's fried catfish sandwich was okay. They do serve alcohol here including cocktails. I just had a beer so I can't comment on the cocktails but they looked good. Service was good and casual. Location is where it's at with this spot. It's very convenient and the view is nice. Decent beach bar food with nice ambiance overlooking the water. I love that it's one big tiki hut and it catches a nice breeze off the water. I ordered the montreal chicken wrap with fries, which seems a little out of place on the menu but was pretty good. Great sunset spot, too. Watch out for the birds though! These over the top negative reviews--esp. as it concerns the food and staff--are clearly from tourists and non-Floridians who can't recognize a local gem for what it is. Or they moved here within the last year and forgot to leave their uppity 5-star Michelin expectations up north. Where do you idiots think you are exactly? The view and vibes here are great, and for what this place sets out to do, it does it very well. I love High and Dry and come here regularly for a dog and a beer after doing some kayaking.
