First timers and it was great! Don't let it being in a plaza dissuade you from going. The interior felt like I stepped into a beach restaurant and was very inviting. Our server was very attentive. We ordered Triple tail sandwich and coconut shrimp and split it. Someone on Yelp mentioned the coconut shrimp was like dessert and they weren't kidding. My son had a track meet that ended up getting canceled due to weather. Wanted to have dinner somewhere on Main Street and found this gem. You seat yourself, bar area and dinning room with plenty of seating and was greeted immediately. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with steak and shrimp. It was so good! It could be better. I did like the fried shrimp very much, it appeared to be hand battered, but the fries came out of a bag (confirmed with the bartender) and the fry fell off the scallops. The fish was hammered, way overcook and totally dry. The pineapple coleslaw, while yummy (just coleslaw and a few canned pineapple pieces), was presented in a tiny plastic cup. I smooshed it down with the back of my fork and it was no more than two tablespoons. That was a disappointed too. The plate needed more freshness. Excellent spot to have dinner the first night of a bachelorette party in Dunedin! They were able to make a reservation for our party of 7 on the same day. We had great service and great food! Loved the vibe of this restaurant. It has an indoor/outdoor bar. The laid back Jimmy Buffet like island decor transports you to another place. Doesn't feel like a strip mall on main street. The service was friendly and fast. Let's talk about the food ... the fish and chips was fabulous. We got 3 pieces beer battered and fried, hush puppies, pineapple cole slaw and crinkle fries for $16 and change. A steal! Had to bring some of it home. And it was happy hour my draft was $1 off! Holy Moly, Pineapple Jack's in Dunedin! Who knew this sleepy strip-mall ,would be such a cute little tiki-themed / pineapple-themed restaurant and bar. You walk in and it feels like you think it's going to with pineapples everywhere. The drinks are excellent. The happy hour could not be better with two for one call-drinks, or as I like to call them, well-drinks. I had a ginger ale and Captain Morgan double tall and it was $6.50. Excellent strong delicious drinks, period. Then on the appetizer menu we saw coconut chicken tenders with pina colada dipping sauce . 'If you don't know now you know' ... The pina colada dip is a take it or leave it type of situation but for the most part those Coconut crusted chicken tenders were a reason to return to this restaurant/bar. Soft and juicy on the inside, total raw coconut on the exterior. I don't know what to tell you I've never had anything like it. As far as service is concerned, it was just a little sleepy. The sleepy conversation from the bartender, except for answering questions, that we engaged. It was a meh on the entertainment scale. The food was excellent. The drink was excellent. Pineapple Jacks is quickly becoming a favorite local staple for myself and family. They have an excellent happy hour, better than anywhere else I've seen in Dunedin. Far from the tourist traps of downtown, PJ'S is well priced, and delivers on solid food options and ambiance. I like the split inside/outside bar, which allows for fresh air but not too much sun. I almost didn't want to review so I could keep the secret to myself, but they deserve to succeed! read more

It was a tasty punch of pineapple (something to get used to if you come here!) and was in a tall glass-very tasty. For dinner I got PJ's Burger. It was a sloppy mess of deliciousness. It's a juicy burger with pineapple, zingy sauce, lettuce, and tomato. I subbed out the kettle chips for a huge bowl of black beans and rice for $2, that had chunks of red onion. It would have been a tasty meal by itself! My wife got the grilled salmon. Nice piece of fish, and well cooked, but a pretty basic salmon; fresh broccoli and a mound of rice. Superb service, very reasonable prices, and very good food (pineapple in *almost* everything ;-)) Inside has bar seating, high tops, tables, and booths. Disclaimer- this is a review about the happy hour and service. 2 for 1 on most things is def a steal. Very small space tucked away outside of DT dunedin. Very grateful for the staff who took our large "picky" group 15 minutes to close to serve us birthday drinks. Came for dinner one night. Made it in time for happy hour. It's 2 for 1 on bar drinks but only a buck off the wine. Kinda sucks but I guess every dollar helps. We started with the conch fritters and deep fried clams. Pretty good but the fritters could have been cooked a bit more. The inside was a little questionable. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Wow, that was really grilled. Like burnt marks all over it. It was just ok. My husband and a friend both ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs. They loved them but said there was no way they could eat all of that. Meat was falling off the bone. They had a side of fries and that yummy pineapple coleslaw. The place was freezing! Asked the waitress if she could turn the air up a bit. She said she would ask. It never changed. Not sure why they want the place that cold but bring a sweater. Stopped to have lunch because of the yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! The stuffed pineapple with marinated steak,grilled shrimp and coconut rice was delicious, even the broccoli was good! :) My friend had the blackened grouper sandwich special and really liked it! We tried the steamed pot sticks as an appetizer and they were tasty as well, they had a little spicy kick to them but not overly spicy! It was really slow for a Saturday afternoon,our waitress was friendly and our food didn't take too long to come to our table. The place was really clean and quiet! Service and the food were fantastic. However, when I left a 20% tip in CASH because I didn't have enough cash on me to pay both the check and tip... (I paid the check on my card, tip was in cash in hopes the server would be able to receive it same day) please do not EVER EVER EVER add my cash tip to the check in addition to the cash I left and noted on the receipt!!! Like seriously? I work super hard to be able to provide for my children and take them out when I can. Even with the 4% discount this makes zero sense if I was able to pay all of it in cash. I ate at the restaurant next door before and never noticed this place was here. It was packed on a Saturday night. It was clean and well staffed. We had the stuffed pineapples. We saw a photo on Facebook and immediately knew we wanted to go get THAT. There was coconut rice at the bottom that was very flavorfull.You could really taste the coconut in it The shrimp were grilled They could've used more seasoning to be honest. They were drizzled with teriyaki sauce.The sirloin was delicious. It was very tender and a good portion. I ordered mine medium rare, which is wasn't but it was not well done so that was fine I did say that next time I would ask for more teriyaki sauce on the side.
