We have been going to shipwreck for a handful of years on our vacations. This time in particular we went for our Dad's 70th birthday. My Dad ordered a drink and the bartender made fun of him for the drink order and said they don't call them that. Ok, whatever, no big deal. We sat at the bar had more people join our group. We were ignored after our first drinks were served. We weren't drinking anything fancy or time consuming. We weren't able to get another drink. The male bartender was only interested in serving you if you want to buy a lot of shots. So he could stand on a step stool dance around and pour them like he was in coyote ugly. Such a disappointment. The music was good although loud but good. The vibe until the bartender had a meltdown and started throwing a tantrum with another patron was enjoyable. Who screams and yells at a person for asking for a beverage when you are in fact there to serve them beverages!? Hopefully but doubtful they will make a change. read more

Honestly, not great. I was with a party of 6 and it was fun until it wasn't. We had a hard time getting a second drink like other people mentioned. We experienced the rude bartender, like the others. We got yelled at to leave like so many others. I had heard a lot about this place from the people I was with but never made it on previous trips. One of the bartenders, Jeff has a massive chip on his shoulder for absolutely no reason. He is extremely aggressive, verbally assaulting, confrontational, threatened to sue us & said " I'll own you B****" he mentioned us leaving a bad review as well, so here it is! We went here last night to play some billiards and grab some drinks. I very patiently waited to be served after five minutes of being ignored finally a bartender with white hair and facial hair served me. I ordered two drinks with two waters. I'm assuming based off the other reviews this guy must be the infamous Jeff. He was very quick to grab me the two drinks but he didn't grab the waters before starting to serve others at the bar, that by the way was not nearly busy enough for him to act the way he was. I again patiently waited for the waters. Thinking maybe he didn't hear me or forgot I asked kindly again if I could get the waters. For only him to ignore me. I left the bar upset with my two drinks and went up to my fiancé and told him that the bartender wasn't hearing me and maybe he would have better luck ordering the water. Apparently my fiancé went up to the bar and asked for the waters again to which Jeff responded "Well the girl already ordered two so would you like 4?!" My fiancé replied just the two is fine, to which Jeff said "That was sarcasm by the way" he also proceeded to make the comment "It's not too late for her to leave you". After hearing this, some words were exchanged and we ultimately got kicked out. Which was fine by me, we didn't want to spend any more of our hard earned money to support this establishment. I hardly ever leave reviews at places, regardless of bad or good service but this experience last night definitely rubbed us the wrong way. I'd say skip the shipwreck and go literally anywhere else. It's more fluff than stuff. Stay away from here. Staff was confrontational when asked about Free Jukebox Thursday and how the customer lost money in the jukebox. Approached our group (all of whom were sober, not causing any disturbances) while we were waiting on our uber to leave. He very aggressively accused us of being under 21 and told us we needed to leave, completely unprovoked. We all proceeded to give him our IDs and instead of apologizing for his mistake, he was defensive and told us we were "exactly who he expected us to be." Went here last night, the bartender on shift (male with short pony tail and bandana) with my boyfriend and FIL he was already a smart ass off the bat when asked if they have anything in tap (no tap) so we asked what else he has and we were served, each got one drink closed out tipped $3 for a $10 tab. We played pool for about 30mins when exiting I stacked our trash together for an easy cleanup we used some napkins for our drinks, upon exiting and telling him thank you have a good night he pointed to the table and said, "yea fuck you guys now I have to clean this shit up while giving us double middle fingers." What a fun place. Bartenders are really good. Especially the guy with the long blonde hair. Very cool and very attentive and they make great drinks. This place is somewhat divey but that is part of what makes it great. Whenever we are down by the beach we always make this one of our stops. They have pool tables and lots of tables and chairs to sit on. The bar is super long and the lighting is funky in a good way. If youre ever in clearwater this is a must stop. Came here when i was a kid , my mom cindy and aunt misty were regulars and friends with thr owner or bartender i forget. This place had the best calzones and pizza and we came here almost daily for 3 weeks back in 1999 or so. My moms friend even cooked oyr catch from fishing a few diffrent ways!! As a local, I have been to Shipwreck (one of the oldest bars if not THE oldest in Clearwater beach) many times. The bartenders: Jeff, Dennis, Alex and Faith are one of the major reasons why we all keep coming! They're professional, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, but most importantly they'll make you feel home. It has a full bar, specialty cocktails, pool tables, touch tunes ... It's mainly frequented by local/ regular crowd ( the go to for all the neighbors ) but it also welcomes visitors from all over. The "usual" age group varies from the oldest to the youngest legal drinking age. The unique thing about it is the authentic experience of feeling like a local and a sense of home that offers to tourists as well, as opposed to most other bars in the area that are extremely touristy. Wish this weren't true. While celebrating my friend's birthday at shipwreck, this guy came up to the bar and the bartender, Dennis, shouts "what's up fuckhead" to the customer. The guy seemed confused and when he didn't respond to that greeting, Dennis turned on all the lights to the bar and told everybody to clap for "this asshole" in an effort to rally the bar guests against this guy who simply wanted to order a drink and hadn't said a word yet. Dennis then proceeded to yell in this guys face "what's up fuckhead" again. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation and the guest was clearly being harassed. Dennis then proceeded to say "this is my bar I've been here for 7 years"and told him to get the fuck out for not saying "how are you". Spent the week down there with friends. Had a good time here on Thursday night. Pink pussy shots were flowing. Decided to come back the next night. Sitting at the bar waiting for a long time for a drink. Witnessed the bartender berate a woman for not tipping all night. - she had just walked in after my group. Then she tried to give him money and he ignored her. She was visibly upset. That was bad enough. Everyone has a bad night but then the girl who was upset, her friend apparently told him to "fuck off" or something like that and the bartender chased them out of the bar onto the street yelling at them and threatening to expose them on Facebook. Was the most cringy and unprofessional thing I've ever witnessed. I overheard other patrons calling that bartender a dick and saying that is his normal demeanor. I'll never return to this bar again. A bit down the road from the newer, more touristy drag which made the street and this bar in particular, quite quiet. If it were in a different city, the area may have seemed a bit seedy but it wasn't at all. Upon entering, your senses are almost overwhelmed by the lights and overall theme of the bar. On one side is a pool table room which looks straight out of the 70's and not in a good way. One the other side is the bar, dim but colorfully lit with string lights, and decorated almost like a pirate cove ran into an aquarium. We did go on a Tuesday night, in the off season which more than likely accounted for how dead it was inside. It was just my family and what seemed like the local drunk. The bartender was prompt, nice, and a bit over the top, which is what I had hoped for from the other reviews. We got three of their specialty drinks which definitely looked cool and were Instagram worthy, though their looks and the Otter Pop in them were the best part of them. They tasted pretty terrible to be honest and were overly expensive. It was a fun"ish" 20 minutes but I don't think I would come back if it wasn't my last stop on a bender or if it wasn't already poppin' inside. read more

I'm a local and popped in last night after dinner to grab a beer and chat with my friend for a second before going home. I hadn't been before and was looking forward to trying a new cool spot in walking distance. The bartender was extremely rude the second we spoke to him. The man I was with originally ordered for us, but the bartender argued with and swore at me about what beer to get when they didn't have the kind I ordered. He looked at me and said "I liked you better when he was speaking for you." And then rolled his eyes and walked away when I said I didn't want anything anymore. I can take a joke anytime, but he clearly wasn't joking. Wouldn't recommend that women come here, at least not alone.
