Date of Visit: Oct. 25, 2025 I come to Safety Harbor perhaps once, twice a year. Today is their annual British Car Show and if you have never been to it mark it on your calendar for next year. The entire street is closed off and cars on display down both sides, awesome show. I usually start the event at the Harbor Bar at eleven but on this day they didn't open till noon. So I started my tour early. Before I came I did research where to get a burger, I haven't had a burger in weeks. I saw that this place offered smash burgers, cool. Neil likes them smashed. I started at the west end and the Fly is at the east. No problem, I got to check out all the cars. On my first trip down the avenue I just stopped in for a beer, service was so so. Nothing to write home about. I wasn't done looking at the cars so I walked back up the avenue. By this time it was past noon and I slipped in the Harbor for a High Life. Now I was ready for a burger, back down the street. The Fly is a fresh new place, a family joint you could say. I ordered the smash burger with chips and coleslaw. It really didn't take long for my order to arrive. I guess I didn't read the menu all the way, it was a double. Now I know why there is this obesity problem in the US. I didn't get a choice of a single or double. I will tell you this, it was a proper burger with the lettuce on the bottom which made the bottom bun last. The chips I liked very much but it was the coleslaw that was the hit. Just wish they had given a larger portion there. Next time I may have to request a single if they can. I guess if you do give this place a try sit a table, from what the others say they had wonderful service. Peace.
We stayed in Safety Harbor last weekend and came here 4 times throughout the weekend. The seafood is delicious, the vibes are vibey and the service is on point. We had the lobster grilled cheese with lobster bisque, cedar key clams, fire and ice seafood tower, poke stuffed avocados, lobster queso, loaded sidewinders with cheese and bacon.:. Every single thing we got was amazing! On top of the food being amazing, the staff who took care of us were top notch: Alexa, Ali & Ryan. Before our staycation, we had never taken the 25 minute drive from Tampa to Safety Harbor. Now I need a weekly trip up to Bar Fly for my seafood fix. Some of the best seafood in Tampa.
Stopped in for a late snack on a Saturday night. There was live music inside but the breeze was blowing and so we chose to sit outside. Either way, the ambiance is very beachy inside and out and the service very friendly. We went with a local beer, a margarita, grilled grouper bites, and parmesan truffle sidewinders (fries). The server was thoughtful enough to warn that the house margarita is on the sweet side and therefore I went with her suggested margarita (the $10 one on the bottom of menu) for a more balanced flavor. That was really appreciated!! Everything was yummy!
Cute, beachy lunch/dinner spot in Safety Harbor. Servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. The coco mojito and margaritas were perfectly refreshing and delicious. Highly recommend the fish tacos and mahi wrap (with plantains inside!). The poke bowl had great portion of tuna wirh a delicious creamy sauce on top. Portions are big, prices extremely fair and vibes so fun! Will definitely be back.
Fast service and good grouper sandwich. Plenty of local draft beer options too. We loved to be able to dine outside in February!
The perfect spot for a taste of seafood as a tourist. So many options to choose from and priced extremely well for the area and portion size. Their tacos and clam chowder were the highlight from our table. There was a bit of a wait when we put our name in, but we grabbed a quick drink at a wine bar just down the road.
As always Bar Fly was great. It's been a while since we've been here so we stopped by this afternoon. Parking was surprisingly easy for a Saturday afternoon and we were immediate seated. Our waitress was super sweet & efficient.. and food came out in record time. I got my favorite - the lobster grilled cheese with lobster bisque & chips. 5 stars all around with a hefty serving of lobster. I love dipping the crispy chips (sprinkled with Old Bay) in the bisque as well. My boyfriend had the shrimp po boy which he said was good but he wished the shrimp were a bit smaller for an easier bite. We definitely need to come back more often.
The friendly Staff greeted us in the and seated us quickly. The restaurant was relaxing and had a beach vibe. The menu was extensive and it took us a bit to choose. We started with an appetizer of fried pickles. They came out Hot and oh so good with a tangy sauce. We ordered the blue cheese wedge salad, the Caribbean citrus salad, and the coconut shrimp basket. Every thing was fabulous! Sooo yummy. Our waiter Tony was outstanding. He was friendly and attentive. We were very full but next time I want to try a dessert.
Went to lunch Sunday with a friend when we were relaxing and enjoying Safety Harbor. There were so many good things on the menu. Both of us had a really hard time picking. Our waitress though was a huge help and had great suggestions. I ended up with a special which was the tuna stack and my friend got the salmon and corn bowl. The food came remarkably fast was really fresh delicious and we definitely wanna go back and try more things. We also got ciders from Keele Farm highly recommend the mimosa cider!
So glad we popped in for dinner! Nick was our server and provided a fantastic dining experience. He was super attentive and friendly. We loved the margarita and wine selections. They also have a decent local beer selection on tap. We had the fries appetizer and the ketchup was super spicy and delicious. We went on a Monday and they have $5 off their seafood buckets - we had one of those and it was superb. We also had the lobster nachos which were full of lobster and nacho toppings. We finished off with a slice of peanut butter pie which was absolutely sublime. There is a ton of seating indoors and outdoors - it is decorated like Florida and really felt like it could be in the Keys. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a good meal in Safety Harbor!

The decor and atmosphere is fun! The waitress was attentive to our needs, keeping our drinks filled and making sure we had the condiments we needed quickly. The food was fresh and hot. The conch fritters were round balls, not the typical shape I usually have but there were plenty for the price and the flavor was very good. The conch pieces were large and the remoulade sauce and mango salsa on the plate was very tasty. The menu had some seafood entrees you don't normally see at traditional seafood restaurants. It was nice to have a variety of options. We got the bar fly bowl with Mahi. The Mahi portion in the bowl was plenty. We had to add a little salt and pepper to add some flavor, which we don't normally do but overall the combination of ingredients was nice. We also had the Tropical Island Salad since it had a combination of items together I have never had. The balance of sweet with sour and Caribbean vinaigrette dressing was very nice. I wish that pineapple would have been cut up into small pieces instead of wedges however, that was something I could take care of myself. I would definitely go again just to try some other items on the menu.
What a great find! Saturday night early dinner before heading to Ruth Eckerd. A friend recommended it and the Yelp! Reviews confirmed it was a good selection. Hubby and I ordered 3 Daughters red bender red ale, which was very good. He ordered the grouper basket. He said the best part was the tartar sauce. It was fine, just not outstanding. My Lobster Nachos however were amazing!! Our server recommended the double lobster portion and she wasn't wrong. Holy cow! It was full of large chunks of lobster. The chips, queso, and pico were very good. The serving was huge. Hubby tried to help me out but we wound up packing up about 1/3 of it. This definitely feeds at least 3 people. The restaurant was busy when we arrived at 4:30 but we were seated immediately. Our server was super friendly. She got our beers right away. And the food came out about 15 minutes later. We'll be back!!

I came here over the weekend and it was another five star experience. I had the lobster grilled cheese with double lobster (again) and my friend had the shrimp and grits. We also ordered the grouper nuggets appetizer and it was amazing. The service was amazing as well. I will definitely be back! read more
Amazing food here at Bar Fly!! Server Batman was awesome too. We had the Lobster roll (chilled) and the lobster grilled cheese, which came with lobster bisque. Delicious!!! One of the best lobster rolls I've had in the area in a while. The grilled cheese was awesome too, stuffed with hardy lobster chunks and the lobster bisque was yummy. Love music and the whole place was poppin on a Saturday night. Would definitely love to come back to Bar Fly!! read more
Still delicious! The grouper bits were so lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. While the lobster grilled cheese was described as "life changing", I'd say it was closer to good. If you like lobster in your lobster bisque, it's a $10 add on. My server was great and there was plenty of lunch seating available. read more

The food was good! I got the lobster grilled cheese and lobster bisque - it was delicious! I also really enjoyed the hush puppies as someone originally from North Carolina. My friend ordered the crab legs and was expecting more of a seafood boil/cajun style. This was not the case, but she said they were okay for steamed crab legs. There was live music, which I did really love, if we weren't sitting directly in front of the performer. It made it difficult to talk easily, but good performance otherwise. It was pretty busy on a Thursday night with a short 20 minute wait before we were seated. read more
I finally tried this place out after seeing it while walking around safety harbor. I stopped by during happy hour and ordered drinks and tuna nachos. The tuna nachos were really good, the chips were crunchy, and the tuna and sauces were super flavorful. It was a bit pricey, but the large portion and flavor made up for it. They also have live music in the evenings, which made the experience even better. I will definitely come back again! read more

This place is always busy when I'm in town, and I totally get why--the vibes are awesome and it's in the perfect spot if you're spending the day in Safety Harbor. My parents sang the praises of this restaurant so I had to check it out. This is a lobster lovers paradise! If you want a lot of lobster for relatively cheap, this is absolutely the place to go. I had a hard time choosing what to get because there's so many amazing sounding options on the menu. I ended up going with the lobster nibbler and it was perfect & exactly what I was hoping for. Lots of buttery lobster and very little else. So good, so tender, so perfectly cooked. The little bread crostinis are the perfect vessel for the delicious lobster. I am so glad I made it back to Bar Fly in Safety Harbor. My last visit was six years ago. I have yet to find a comparable lobster grilled cheese sandwich plate, served with chips and lobster bisque for dipping. (I am choosing to ignore my very mild shellfish allergy while I'm here). Our server, Alan, was so funny and delightful. We came back here twice in one day. Yes, twice! Also had the peel and eat shrimp served warm with a side of butter. It was nice to see the same things I loved about my first visit are still very much in place. It is my "must visit" bar and restaurant while in Safety Harbor. Great people watching, too, if you are lucky enough to get a corner window or patio seat. read more

I've been here so many times and the food is always consistently good. The grouper bites are my favorite and I've had them as an appetizer and an entree. Service is always fast and friendly, even when the place is packed. They have a nice patio, when it isn't a million degrees outside. If you like nachos, they have a huge one that you can get with all types of proteins. read more

We absolutely love this place. Perfect foods on happy hour menu for us. We also love to bring the boat over on weekends for shrimp ceviche. They have good beer on tap and make great mixed drinks. Margarita with tajin please! Staff is nice. Indoor and outdoor bar and seating. Live bands what else can you ask for? read more

2nd time here and this place still does not disappoint! Overall Bar Fly is a really relaxed restaurant/bar around fishing decor and seafood related food. If you go here at least get something with shrimp in it. If not the Drunken Shrimp! More or less it's shrimp steamed in a beer and hot sauce. The flavor is slightly hoppy from the beer and a slight kick from the hot sauce. Over all great flavor and cooked perfectly. Sides are add on here for most of the menu. But don't sleep on the leaded beans and rice. Come with a nice layer of cheese, topped with pico de gallo and sour cream. It's awesome! I also took my left over beer/hot sauce from the drunken shrimp and poured it over the beans and rice. Service has always been great here. The staff is super friendly and can help recommend what sides go best with your entree. Can't wait to come back and try something new! read more
Just across the street from the fancy mineral water place is bar fly. I've had it on my radar for a while now and I pulled the trigger. First off the lobster sandwich I had was amazing i got extra meat and it was indeed extra. Flavor was amazing, and it filled me up, but dipping it in crab bisque was next level! The outside bar was perfect for my dog and it's big. Plenty of outside seating and a bunch of inside seating as well. Kinda fishing, salt life vibe going on. The bartender was great and i talked with a three person group about all kinds of stuff. I had a great time. The drink was kinda touristy, so maybe stay off the list and get your own drank on! I will definitely be back, after dinner Lune and I walked around Safety harbor. There are a ton of shops, some bars, food, a gazebo, and it's quaint. Do yourself a favor a go get that Lobster chee sammy! read more

Everything was amazing! The food/freshness, the environment, customer service from Alex and everyone else that helped us. We will definitely be back! My daughter ordered the tacos pictured and I didn't get a chance to take a pic of my wrap or my dads bowl but it was just as perfect. read more

Fun little spot in safety harbor. They had live music outside but it was packed so I found a spot at the inside bar. Went with a Moscow mule to start which was solid, but there were some little floaters in it but I got them out I went with the lobster tacos and although I asked for corn tortillas, they were served in flour, but I have no dietary restrictions so I happily ate the flour. Solid price for lobster in the area and the tacos were presented nicely and were filling. Service could have been a little faster but considering they were pretty well packed and I wasn't in a rush to go anywhere, I was happy to just enjoy the atmosphere read more

Not sure about nightly but yes most weekends at both the Safety Harbor and Palm harbor locations. Find them on facebook and they do post things from time to time.
Are pets allowed outside?
Yes, they have seating on the sidewalk and I have seen dogs at lunch. Assume the same in the evening.
