I stopped into Sunset Grill after doing a quick search of the area I was working/driving in on Friday. The inside and food pics caught my attention so I figured let's give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. I was greeted by the owner as soon as I entered. I was sat at a table a looked around to take in the vibe and great interior work someone had done with the brick walls and woodwork. As I was seated I looked over the menu which was a bit overwhelming with all the options but I quickly zoned in on the specials and. handhelds. The liver and onions were mentioned by the waitress as being a fan favorite however I wasn't ready to risk my lunch on liver and onions. I noticed quite a few Greek/Med options on the menu so I decided to go with the gyro and potato salad. Both were delicious! The gyro was nearly wrapped in paper to keep the fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber wrapped tightly in. Also included was fresh Tzaziki (sp), a pickle, and potato salad. I made quick work of the gyro and left very little of the potato salad. The gyro meat was crispy on the edges and tender on the inside. I'm honestly ready for another one. After I finished, I once again was greeted by the owner Rafael and shared my feedback. Rafael was super friendly and gracious plus the meal was great. Stop in and try it out for yourself the next time you are near. I noticed quite a few Greek/Med options on the menu so I decided to go with the gyro and potato salad. Both were delicious! They have a nice interior with cool lamps in the front. The booth was spacious. The menu is pretty long, and the serve a nice, soft bread. The prices are pretty reasonable. and I got a gyro. They let me substitute broccoli for fries to have a healthier vibe. Overall, it was decent. My friend got broccoli with her meal, but instead it was more of a medley with carrots and cauliflower, and her salad didn't come until after her entree, so that was a big disappointment, but she didn't want to cause a fuss. The waitress didn't drop off the food and didn't reappear until after she just decided to eat what she had. So that was a bit disappointing. It was pretty full when I went on a Tuesday afternoon, so people must generally have a good experience. It made for a nice place to grab a meal with a group.

    Very good.

A friend clued me in to this spot, knowing I'm a total coconut pie fanatic, and swore they'd never left hangry. The hospitality at this Clearwater institution is ridiculously on point, with a menu that's basically a choose-your-own-adventure novel. The food is fresh, it's tasty, and it's a total party in your mouth. Oh, and pro tip: I did save room for one of their legendary pies.

I decided to check this place out for lunch while I was in the area. The ambiance gives "Mom and Pop" vibes. I enjoy visiting restaurants like this. It makes you feel right at home. The service was good and workers were very friendly from the moment we walked in the door. Our waitress was more than happy to share recommendations with us. The menu had a plethora of options to choose from. We were given a basket of bread to start. I decided to have a chef salad before my meal. The ingredients were fresh, and the vinaigrette was tasty. For my entree, I had the fried fish and bake potato. I always love a baked potato as my side. The fish was seasoned well, but could've been fried a little longer. I also had a slice of key lime pie that was also pretty good.

Stopped in on the way home to grab gyro meat to add to a salad I already had prepared at home. Mind you I've eaten in before and everything was fine. However, on this visit I needed some protein to add to a salad and when I got home this is what was packed in the to go, for $11 plus tax. I was hoping there was enough to split with my wife but the portion was so small and for the price that we had to order food from another restaurant altogether. Needless to say, won't be coming back. What a rip!!

My wife and I were running around in the Top Of The World Adult Condos area and spotted Sunset Grill. Our former church adult group met here for dinner and fellowship years ago so decided to drop in. Always very busy at meal times, I'm sure fue in part to Condos nearby and great food. We had to park in the back but only waited a few minutes for a table. We perused the menu and decided on Western Omelette with Toast for my wife and Country Fried Steak & Gravy, Eggs over easy, Grits and Biscuit for me. The layout was different, remodeled quite a bit in the 10 years or so since we went to church nearby. One change I was glad for was removal or possibly moved the standing glass cabinet in the front with all the great desserts. Especially their award winning Key Lime Pie. Much less temptation that way. They were, as usual, very busy, so our meal took awhile for our meals to come. Although our server Emmy was great, like everyone else they were evidently short staffed. Our food came and was delicious. It was quite a bit of food I had ordered so I couldn't finish it. A nice experience and suggest you visit. I would recommend an early or late meal time because they are very busy.

Truthfully I really don't even know what to rate this place because somehow places have bad days However this is my experience ! We walked in it's super cute inside great atmosphere, the waitress greeted us and was friendly . We were handed a menu and an alcohol menu that didn't match the one that was on the regular menu . I tried to ordered an expresso martini they no longer serve them I was disappointed but somehow the waitress made it happen and got me one I was thrilled ! We order our meals my husband the chicken sandwich and myself the smothered chicken every side dish I asked for they no longer serve they are apparently revamping the menu so that was disappointing. So I decide on the baked potato tell the waitress no sour cream and extra butter and the grilled broccoli that I was told was amazing ! Salad comes out and is actually wonderful homemade dressing was good glad I went with it after the waitress told me how disgusting the soups were that the Italian wedding is just chopped hamburger meat and red saucey soup . Here is the major down fall , husbands food comes out and then mine , I'm served bourbon chicken with mixed vegetables I explain this is most certainly not what I ordered the waitress kind of went back and forth with me that I did , weird that the broccoli made it to the table but not the correct meal . She finally apologized and says it will be ready in three minutes , chicken in three minutes that's nerve wrecking . I get to sit there watch my husband eat practically his whole meal as my broccoli just sit getting cold on the table . My food finally comes out baked potato dry as anything the chicken and bacon was disgusting honestly it reminded me of hospital food but I sat and ate my dinner and my ice cold broccoli which might I add was frozen broccoli with a weird char to it as my spouse done with his meal watched . She then brings the bill tells me she didn't charge for the martini , great thanks get the bill it's not even correct but at this point I'm paying it and leaving . Go to use the women's room bathroom is flooded from a leaking toilet had to use the men's room . . Maybe once there menu is revamped they may have things together a little better but the way it is right now is a no for me

The food and service was great! And the prices are really good too. The only thing is that you could miss it because the parking lot is in front of the building and it's kind of small, so I drove right past it. I loved the vibe and would definitely return to try more menu items.

Honestly not what I expected. I looked at the menu online and they have a lot of choices. So I was expecting a diner type vibe. I was wrong. They do make a little bit of everything and they make it well. The place was mostly full while we were there. They've got early bird specials. We took advantage of happy hour and had some cocktails. I mean cocktails don't normally come in 20 oz glasses but these were delicious. My boyfriend got the burger and he said it was good. I got the gyro I thought it was pretty tasty. The tzatziki sauce was amazing I'm a sucker for good tzatziki it's easy to make but I've had some bad tzatziki. The only con is there aren't a lot of vegan options you can make things vegan but it won't be a complete meal. You can have a great meal if you are a vegetarian. We will definitely come back it's close to the house they've got food everyone can agree on, and great cocktails. Give them a try if enjoy good food and wanna try something new.

I will return. Peach pie slice was perfect. Need to try the strawberry rhubarb pie next time. My 2 favorites. Grilled cod was perfectly prepared. Cole slaw delicious. Baked potato excellent. Thick slab of tomato served with the cod sandwich, as well as a piece of lettuce. Easy parking in their own lot.

We got seated right away after I saw the podiatrist down the block. Normally we like the Acropol Inn, but they're now closed Monday and Tuesday. This place is apparently under new ownership and received a big remodel too. Interior is very fresh looking and clean. Monica was our waitress; very friendly and a good sense of humor. With all the old people that seem to eat in this place, I'm sure patience and humor are good traits for a waitress to have. She was quite knowledgeable about the menu and shared her own insights as to what is particularly good in her own mind and her observations. Queen Bee chose their Greek salad with gyro meat. I meantime had a gyro with fries. Since this is our first time here, I wanna keep it simple. We are also comparing notes about the same things Acropol has that we both like. Monica brought us some bread to nibble on while we were waiting. It was actually pretty good for Florida! As a born and bred NYC Boy, I love GOOD bread (pardon the awful pun), of which there is a dearth here in God's Waiting Room. After what seemed like kind of a long wait for a simple salad and gyro (how long does it take to toss a bunch of vegetables together?!), and seeing some who got here after us eating before we were served...I started wondering what was going on back there. Monica DID offer us a bowl of soup on the house to try and do right...no; just get our food out. She explained that there was a broken microwave which was pushing the kitchen behind. I'm sorry, but a professional kitchen has no business with a microwave. Anyway, food finally shows up after another profuse apology from Ms. Monica. The Greek salad was humongous; photo doesn't do justice to the size of the thing. Gyro was moderate in size. She enjoyed her salad; gyro meat to her was a nice plus. She prefers Acropol Greek salad and wouldn't order THIS one again. I feel the same as regards my gyro and fries. Pretty pedestrian and not as big as Acropol. We were also offered a free rice pudding as a result of the Yelp check in. Monica offered it but I declined. We just wanted to leave; I didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes for a lousy cup of rice pudding. Queen Bee has decided she will NOT eat another Americanized Greek salad again. "This was my lesson." She'll STILL have the half she didn't eat for tomorrow's lunch. ONLY reason for the 3rd star was the fact that Ms. Monica actually made the effort to do right by us. Other than that, we highly prefer Acropol Inn over this establishment. Would we try it again? Eh: Queen Bee said she might but jury still out...parenthetically, this place was jammed full by the time we finally left over an hour later! I have to be back for follow up podiatrist appointment in two weeks. That may mean another visit here, tho we'd both choose different things. Oh, well. Let's hope these people can get this place into better shape as far as the food consistency goes. I myself don't see me/us visiting here again.

Fairly crowded and very nice. UNTIL I had a dog come by and lick my hand that was near my lap. Totally unacceptable. WE DO NOT NEED DOGS out of control on a patio. Management should have a constant watch on them and perhaps put them in another section. Yes, I understand that the owners are ultimately responsible but Gigglewaters management can certainly enforce any dog rules. (if in fact they have any). To be fair, we were told by the manager to call, give them another chance to make it right etc. However, we didn't call and only gave them a second chance this morning with friends. The reason I didn't call to "make it right" was I want the experience I have at a restaurant to be organic, and not get special or specialized treatment because we made a complaint. Now, on to our adventure today. We (a party of 4) arrived around 1020ish and were seated pretty quickly. The restaurant was pretty full, which was expected as it was a Sunday morning. The lady who seated us (not our waitress...tall with long dark hair) was very friendly, chatty, and funny. We appreciated her service. Our waitress was quite inattentive. We each got a cup of coffee, along with waters, iced tea, etc. Once we got our drinks and the orders were placed, we didn't see the waitress again until after the food was delivered (i.e., a very, very long time). The tall dark-haired lady finally came around and refilled our coffee/tea/water after they had all sat empty for 10+ minutes. The wait for the food was so, so, so long. We waited close to 45+ minutes for our food (nothing special, nothing fancy, straight up off the menu, no changes or alterations). This has not improved since the last time we were there and it is just baffling to me that it takes so long to get food out. The biscuits and gravy were enjoyed enjoyed, however 2 of the 4 biscuits were so hard she could not cut them with the fork, and with very very great difficulty with the knife. The tops of the biscuits were soft and pillowy but the bottom were pucks. This time the eggs seemed to have been cooked properly My husband was not happy with the omelette he got, and they took that off the bill without us asking. She did mention that she could have another order put in for him but (and these are her words), "It would take about 15 hours for you to get your new plate of food." We declined a new order and thanked her for taking it off the check. I got a sandwich and it was fine, nothing special but also not awful. Our other friend got a full breakfast platter which he enjoyed. He said the pancakes were very fluffy. So, in this updated review, I have increased the stars for the food because it wasn't *as* awful as last time, but still problematic. The worst thing, which was an issue with our first visit, is the wait time for food. It is just too. dang. long. I look at a place like Lennys, where we would have been in, seated and eating by the time we got our first coffee refill (also much too long in a breakfast place.....just....have coffee ready??). We did note when we walked in there were only 3 servers for the dining room --- perhaps they were short staffed which is why we only saw our server 4 times --- once for drinks, once to take food orders, and once to check on food, and once to drop the check. It was the lady who seated us who had a great rapport with the table, who was cheerful and friendly who can take credit for the two stars in ambience. In the end, we gave them another shot. No one at the table was impressed. The kitchen is woefully slow. The service was inattentive. we will not be coming back.

When we walked in, we were quickly greeted. Place is still bright, clean and cheery. Interesting soundscapes type music piped in also. We were told we could sit anyplace as we entered. We did and sat at a booth with a very wobbly table. A moment or two later when Ginger took our order, she replied that "we were tryin' to fix that table yesterday but we didn't have a shim." M next time a word about not having us sit there would be a welcome gesture on their part rather than letting us move all our stuff to the next table. Anyway...coffee was kinda weak too. I usually don't bother with diner coffee as it's usually hit or miss. This stuff was the latter by far. Meanwhile we got the former with our food! Queen Bee chose a daily special: one egg, two pieces of French toast and two strips of bacon. I chose the country fried steak breakfast. Queen Bee's choice made her quite the happy camper. French toast she found quite delicious; well cooked rather than goopy or runny with a nice crisp to it. The egg was perfect over medium as asked. She even told Ginger what an over medium egg constitutes. Ginger replied "I gotcha honey" with a southern laugh. My breakfast meantime was quite lovely for the most part. Country fried steak was a standard Sysco truck frozen block of breaded, minced meat. It was properly cooked (as opposed to incinerated) and not greasy. The standout for this was/is the "country gravy." Country gravy oftentimes suffers from one of two problems... 1. Over salty from too much sausage and sausage grease. 2. Floury aftertaste because the cook can't make a proper béchamel. This stuff had neither problem and was one of the better country gravies I've had in recent memory if not ever. Meanwhile eggs were scrambled properly...not too loose, not too tight (more toward the latter than the former). The home fries were quite bland (no salt, no pepper or even a hint of paprika). I wonder if too many of the old folks living round here complained about 'em. Anyway, I added a shake of salt (gasp!) and some pepper. I chose rye toast as I usually do. When Ginger dropped off our chow I even asked if it was rye instead of whole wheat. She said yes with a smile, adding the only way she can tell 'em apart is by "looking for the seeds. Ya gotta be smarter than what ya work with." Finally, Ginger herself is a real hoot. She truly reminds me of a southern version of the NYC diner waitresses I remember from my younger years and decades in the Big Apple. Sassy, funny, and quite efficient, competent and knowledgeable. After we walked in, we weren't so sure about whether we'd return here ever again. However given the balance of today's experience, I'd say that when we find ourselves in the area and in need of a feed...Pete seems to have done well with this joint and I'd say his morning crew knows their stuff!
