A friend and I were going to go to Home Plate for breakfast. The wait would have been too long especially with a fur baby in tow. So, we started to head over to Nature's Food Patch. As we were pulling out of Home Plate's parking lot my friend spotted Marguerite's. She nor I knew of Marguerite's, but we're sure glad we found this hidden little gem! They are dog friendly, that's hugely important. The hostess wasn't very friendly, but Emily, our server made up for the hostess. My friend had an American breakfast. She got the sourdough toast. They get their bread from an Amish bakery. My friend loved the bread. She said her breakfast was very good, but you can't go wrong with scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, and bacon. I had the goat cheese and asparagus quiche. They had me at goat cheese. The quiche was exquisite-Omigoodness! Served with that slice of deliciousness was the seasoned potatoes and fresh fruit. This is the second year in a row that my mother and I have ordered a Thanksgiving portion. We got it on Wednesday and heated it up on Thursday. Visited on a recent Friday morning with a friend. I had a quiche Lorraine with potatoes and fruit. And coffee. The quiche was incredibly salty at first bite. I should've sent it back immediately but I was starving. The potatoes were so salty. I could only take a couple bites. When the waitress asked if I want the potatoes boxed up, I declined and told her that someone had been heavy handed with the salt. She said the owner was in the kitchen cooking and she would let her know. We had to ask for refills on our coffee. When I got the bill, nothing was done to compensate me for not eating the potatoes . And the owner never came out to comment on or address my complaint. I've been there before, and I've had good experiences. This left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. Chicken salad sandwich was just okay. Build your own omelette (spinach broccoli swish cheese and tomatoes in it) with home fries was very good. Breakfast quesadilla was okay. They don't allow you to add chicken. The only options are pastrami, bacon, and ham. It's made on a spinach wrap which is nice. Mimosa was fine but wish they'd add more champagne and put it in a champagne mimosa glass, instead of normal glass. Waitress seemed kind of pressed for time and seemed a little snippy when ordering, but was attentive with everything else. Quaint little cafe right near the Dunedin library and Pinellas Trail! My boyfriend & I stopped in for breakfast around 8:30 on a Saturday morning & it was relatively quiet, but it was also right after Hurricane Ian had hit; usually this place is full of people outside on the patio when I drive by on the weekends. There were so many specials that morning, many that looked appetizing, but my boyfriend & I stuck with our classics: I got two pancakes with strawberries & chocolate chips plus a side of bacon with hot cocoa, and he got the French toast with water. Our waitress was kind and attentive, service was quick, and the place did get a little busier by the time we finished around 9/9:15. Unfortunately I can't say I was amazed by the food though, except for the bacon; that was delicious & cooked perfectly! As for the pancakes, they were fluffy and a good portion size, but the add-ins were bare minimum & some of the strawberries tasted a bit sour. My boyfriend's French toast was a nice thick cut & also a good portion size, but sadly the thickness didn't allow the egg to soak through the slices all the way. A thinner slice or a longer soak would do wonders for that dish though; the potential is certainly there! Personally I also really liked the artwork for sale inside the cafe. A great way to highlight local talent, and honestly some of the pieces were extremely well priced especially for some of the original paintings (though some were a bit high for what looked like they might be reprints). read more

I'm honestly surprised to see so many low stars for this place. The inside seemed quite small, but we opted to sit in their outside area. It was Mother's Day so we had a reservation in advance, and a table was ready for us when we arrived. The outside is really beautiful, with chairs and tables under a large tree canopy, and for any spots a bit more in the sun, some tables have an umbrella for extra comfort. We ordered a Greek omelet, the biscuits and gravy, and pancakes with strawberries for our little one. The Greek omelet was pretty good, my only complaint was that the feta was all on one side of the omelet; I would have preferred it distributed a bit more evenly throughout to get that salty flavor in each bite. The biscuits and gravy were really peppery - which I love! But just a warning for those that might prefer a little less pepper in theirs. As for the pancakes, it was super fluffy, almost like a sponge cake! I also asked for a side of bacon, which was cooked a bit unevenly: some pieces were crispy and some a little on the chewier side. The staff were wearing masks, which I appreciate since they are coming and going from the indoors to outside. I used to love this place and send people over there to try it all the time. 15 years ago my now grown daughter and I would walk down the bike trail just to sit and enjoy a meal or snack. She loved the soup and coconut cake. Was a great place to eat. I even dropped a painting there as a thank you. Not that I'm a great painter or anything . Now all these years later I go there with my husband. We like to sit outside. We have had to quit going. Over and over the last few years we feel unwelcome. There is a server who has stringent ideas on how you are seated. Almost always empty when we show up. We wait at the sign saying we will be seated. Oops. We missed the sign when it first went up. Server not happy we did not see it and comply. But after a while you just want to sit. If you do, it effects her mood during the whole meal. This has happened a few times. She makes folks feel unwelcome. The opposite of how it used to be over there. Food still good. Cute place with potential to be relaxing. Just sadly can't deal with the patio battle. I'm only giving them 3 stars cause honestly, the service was so slow and disorganized that we sat there watching very pissed off people up and leaving. I think I would have been ok if they had just given me my coffee right away. We were there for brunch. You serve them coffee, you can guarantee they'll be ok to wait a bit for their food. No coffee at breakfast just makes you grumpy. I had to say to her twice, can we pleeese have our coffee?! That came 2 mins before our food. Grrr And I was a little embarrassed because this lovely couple beside us, who had been there way before us, were still waiting for their food. At least they had a coffee. We split the quiche and lox and bagel. The food was excellent! Quiche was warm with a lovely side of home fries. Bagel came with all the correct sides and lots of them. We tried to go there for lunch today and we were told we could not be seated outside because of the heat index. We really didn't understand that because the restaurant across the street had people sitting outside as well as people sitting outside at restaurants in downtown Dunedin. We went there two Sundays ago and the tall dark-haired female server (manager?) told us that there were no specials because she didn't have time to make them up. Whenever I'm in town visiting I always come in here for breakfast with my mum. It's our little spot and I hold I very close to my heart. We usually order the 2 timer special and everything on the plate goes! So delicious. Never had a problem with service. We always seem to go when it isn't very busy which is nice. Went on Saturday and placed a to go order. Got home and our blueberry muffin was covered in mold. We went back on Tuesday morning and asked the woman where the normal server was (past two years) she got upset and said "he doesn't work here anymore why what did he do" i responded with nothing i wanted to let you know your muffin was covered in mold. She responded with "oh that's fine". Got home with the new order and our waffle was raw on the inside. Absolutely not fine. The place has gone down hill tremendously will not be back. read more

So a close friend and breakfast buddy found out I'd never been and decided I was overdue to visit here As we walked inside, I got to meet Marguerite and our server, Joan Marie. Both shared a warmth of hospitality that spoke you were in the right place! The first thing I noticed were the outrageous baked goods behind the glass. Now I know what Audrey Hepburn felt like having "Breakfast at Tiffany's!" (Google it, young'uns!) I took a menu and browsed it quickly. There were MORE than enough items to satisfy a number of different tastes! I liked the indoor dining area but we opted to sit outside on the patio. The coffee was to my taste, rich and robust! Give me coffee that tastes like colored brown water and you've automatically lost two stars in the rating! Word! I ordered a Spinach & Feta Omelet with hash browns and pumpernickel toast. First thing I noticed was the fresh spinach! The second was the tasty smoothness of the Feta. Yes, there is a difference in this particular cheese. (I know after living in Greece for 6 years!) I loved that omelet. The only problem is next time I will have to stay away from it and order something different for Yelp's sake! :P It's a great place to relax with a friend or just for a bit of peace. Usually the people there are pleasant... i had a simple request that went scoffed at and it just ruined a very pleasant tasting experience with friends. First, this is a review of breakfast at the restaurant, not the catering portion of the business. As stated in other reviews, the coffee is weak. Nice presentation, cute see-through cups, but definitely weak. When we walked in there was a specials board that listed Benedict specials (my favorite). No prices, but it was a small cafe, didn't think it would be anything crazy. Seated ourselves, there were at least four people working, and they did plenty of chatting with each other while everyone else ate. That was a little weird, like while they were clearing a table there would be two of them talking about business-related stuff. Not a huge deal. We started with two coffees, they were brought over, weak, as stated. There was sugar on the table, but no cream. We looked around and realized our cream basket was just empty, so we swapped it with another table's and made sure to let the waiter know so they could refill the empty. Ordered the Hash Benedict (they do their own and I am a hash fan, so I wanted to try it) and my boyfriend ordered a Belgian waffle with a side of cheesy home fries (I think that's what they called them...). So, my eggs Benedict didn't have any Hollandaise...which I personally feel is part of what makes what you are eating a Benedict.. so it was just an English Muffin, some hash (which was actually ok, nothing crazy good, but not bad) an egg and some cheese. It wasn't bad, but I was definitely missing that hollandaise. It also came with a side of home fries, which I didn't realize when ordering. Home fries were super bland, just slices of potato with onion. Boyfriend said the waffle was ok. Basically what we would make at home in a waffle maker, nothing fancy. Waiter eventually brought over the bill, it was around $23.00. The Hash Benedict I got off the special board, with no price, was $10.99. I would say it is definitely not worth that. Not in a million years. We were immediately ready to pay since we just had a card. Waited around for a bit, figured we were supposed to pay on the way out since no one was coming back. We went to pay up front, and the look the cashier gave our waiter informed us that he was probably supposed to come back to the table to get our payment. Anyway, not awful, but we won't be back. read more
