Eh the wait was pretty Long for a Thursday. Wanted to sit in the outside and listen to the musician was told. I popped into Crabby's for oysters and dip on an impromptu trip to Clearwater. They were pretty busy but I was able to grab a seat at the bar. I loved the views of the beach and the open air set up. I did not love my food. The Crabbyfellar oysters weren't done and the dip wasn't hot. I took the dip to go with hopes of heating it up back at my hotel. I didn't tell my server that my oysters were undercooked because they were pretty busy and I didn't think anything of it. Okay so we went on a Saturday night so expected it to be busy and it was however that is no reason for us to have waited over an hour for our food, and that was just while at the restaurant. This isn't counting the time we waiting to drive, park, and walk there. And for the amount of time we did wait, we expected the food to be better. Was it bad? No, but not as good as we'd hoped but again, this was takeout so maybe it was better for sitting down. Going back to the parking, if you've never been in this area it gets real busy real fast. It's right across from the pier. There is some parking provided in lots but isn't necessarily free. Drink wise we did one of the buckets which was plenty to share and you could taste the alcohol which we didn't expect. Food wise we got the calamari, oysters 3 ways, and key lime pie. OMGosh! We are going to crave this place ALL DAY when we're back home in California. We were on vacation in Clearwater and yelped a good lunch place after a fun beach day. We were starving, tired and hot! This was one of the closest restaurants and since we were walking, we chose it just so that we could get there quickly. What a great place! They quickly sat us indoors upstairs since we wanted the AC to cool us down. The server was so friendly and helpful with the menu. She took her time answering our questions and gave us great suggestions. I had never had Grouper and she assured me I would love it. She was right! I ordered it blackened with a side of fries. We also ordered the Boom Boom shrimp tacos. WOW! I'm still dreaming about those puppies. Insanely delicious and fresh. The best shrimp tacos I've ever had by far. The crab legs were the highlight for the rest of my peeps. They were in heaven. All of the sides were amazing as well. Crabby's Dockside never disappoints! This was another fantastic visit, we sat on the second floor, which has A/C (a huge plus in the Florida heat), and it was cool and comfortable the entire time. Last week we were in Clearwater Beach staying near the marina so decided to try out Crabby's since it was within walking distance. It's got outside and inside seating and inside is 3 levels. We initially elected to go to the 3rd floor. It's open air and it was cold outside due to the cold front so it was not comfortable sitting there. Additionally there was not a very good odor inside there for whatever reason. We elected to move down to the 2nd level, warmer and no odor. I ordered a combination plate that included Mahi and skewered grilled shrimp and my wife ordered the Coconut Shrimp. Both came with salad. Both plates tasted very good, service was good as well. My wife had a glass of wine and I had a beer. For dinner, my oldest had chicken fettuccini, and my youngest the Mac n cheese. I had a burger and my wife had the island mahi mahi. Note: I was going to get the fried avocado taco, but my server advised against that. The Mac n cheese and the pasta was just ok, a bit dry. The burger was okay. My wife's fish was dry. I was hoping to get a second beer and my daughter another Mac, but the server seemed to have a lot of tables and could not get to us. This restaurant seems understaffed and the food is just eh. We came here for an early dinner after visiting the nearby aquarium. They have three levels of seating - outdoor/bar on one, indoor with A/C on level two, and rooftop beach views on three. We couldn't decide what to order, and our server was knowledgeable of the menu and super patient. There are no happy hour deals at this location. We went with the Clearwater signatures - Bairdi crab (market price was $33 for 3/4 lb.) and grouper bites ($20). You can get the Bairdi crab traditionally steamed and served with melted butter or fire-roasted with Old Bay seasoning. The Bairdi crab came with two sides - we got cheese grits and mac and cheese ($1 upcharge). Both had similar flavor profiles - I guess that's what happens when you order the cheesiest dishes on the menu ;). I appreciate how they give you wet wipes to clean your hands for the crabs both before and after the meal. They also provide you with the necessary seafood crackers to break into the shells (as a seafood restaurant group, they think of everything). Our crab legs didn't seem as hefty as other tables', but I guess that's the luck of the draw (or rather, un-luck). The grouper bites basket came with fries - the fries were thick and meaty - and served with tartar sauce. Other condiments were already available on the table. Food was tasty and served quickly, and service was attentive. We dined at another Beachside Hospitality Group location earlier in the week, and everything was consistent with the other location. This restaurant group is handling operations well - I'm impressed. Save your receipt - if you read it, they have a 10% discount if you return to any Beachside Hospitality Group restaurants during your stay. They also offer a generous military discount. When we went to order our food, my wife and I both specifically said, we wanted all the appetizers on our bill. Appetizers came out ,the conk fritters, and the gator bites were okay. Then, of course, he brought the bill, and I didn't notice at first, but he had split the appetizers between myself and another party. There was live music out on the patio at street level and we could hear it perfectly. Our server was fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly. I had a seasonal beer, which was delicious. My kids have the banana freezes. My youngest daughter didn't like hers and the server took it away and did not charge the bill. I got her something different. We are locals now and although Vinny and his amazing View were amazing and his service spectacular, the approach was a bit rough. We walked up the stairs from the parking lot and onto the first floor bar to get barked at by the bartender about stepping up to the hostess station. We were just looking around, trying to gather our thoughts, and imagining what the place would look like in a different time or would with some of our guests. On our first night at Clearwater Beach, we decided to have dinner and drinks at Crabby Dockside after we did a dolphin tour. Crabby's Dockside just happened to be right next to the marina. The establishment is split into 3 levels with the first floor having an open floor design with majority of the seating outside. This area has the most amount of tables with quite a number of heating lamps. The second floor seems to be way more limited and the only area with a waitlist; this floor is the only one with the closed floor designed as it has large glass windows. My beautiful partner and I got a table on the third floor which is an opened up design with no windows and open views to the surrounding hotels and beach. You just check in at the front desk, and they ask on what floor you would like a table and the wait time if applicable. Once we got off the elevator to the third floor, we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. We started off ordering our drinks. I got the Lime in Coconut float, while my lovely partner got the Crab Trap bucket. My drink was ok, creamy coconut flavor with the distinct taste of lime. Not sure if I'd ever order it again, but it wasn't bad. The Crab Trap had an overpowering alcoholic scent the moment it arrived at our table. A good thing of you are looking to get a nice buzz, but it is a lot to finish. For food, we ordered 3 entrees: No Worried Combo with Mac and cheese and cream corn, Boom Boom Shrimp bites, and Island Mahi Mahi tacos with fries. The No Worries Combo was our favorite part of our dinner on this night. The fried calamari, grouper, and shrimp were exactly what you would expect: lightly battered pieces with a nice light flavor and crispy texture. This order came with our choice of sides; in which, we chose the Mac and Cheese and the Cream Corn and Bacon. My dinner date said the corn was her favorite, and I can definitely see why. A light and creamy flavor profile that was easy to eat. The Mac and cheese was creamy, but didn't really have a nice flavor; quite disappointing if I'm going to be honest. The Boom Boom Shrimp Bites were pretty good. Battered shrimp pieces that is then covered in sauce with a little kick to it. A little change from the deep fried flavors of the No Worries items. Now we come down to our least favorite plate that we ordered. The Island Mahi Mahi tacos. The texture and flavor of the Mahi Mahi was bland and not very good. I also found that there was a bit too much shredded cheese found in each taco. The salsa and mango bites does help the flavor slightly, but doesn't rescue this plate. The server was quick and mostly polite, but we felt she was rushing us towards the end of our meal as she kept coming back and asking us if we need to go boxes more than twice while we were working on our drinks and food still. You figure the atmosphere of these beach side cocktail bars is for people to chill out and enjoy their food and drinks. read more
