Off the beaten path (literally, the Pinellas Trail) and bar none the best home cooked, authentic Mexican fare in Pinellas County. All fresh (including the salsa) from the kitchen. A family operation, Mom and Dad are the cooks, working the kitchen. Their young adult children work side by side waiting tables, tending bar, washing dishes... My personal fav, the fish tacos. Hearty seasoned filets wrapped in a warm tortilla, topped with a fresh homemade picante and chipotle sauce on the side. Throw in their own special recipe (not out of a box) rice and beans and it's a plate full. And a value too. For American fare, their burgers and fish and chips are tops! Can't say enough about this hard working family making a go of their restaurant dream. Don't go for the atmosphere. Go for a culinary (value) experience.

This was a wonderful little food/bar shack house off the trail and off Missouri if you're coming from Dunedin. It was probably the crispiest fish I ever had and the fry stayed on the seafood after biting into it. Kale salad was lovely. Cocktail sauce a little sweet for me - I asked for extra horseradish and it was perfect. My only ding - they need one high end white wine available as the wine selections were mediocre. The food is outstanding. The service was great. I'll definitely be back!!! Oh they fry w soybean oil Lots to love about this place !

1/2 chicken Alfredo pasta. So yummy!

Split a meal and got the bread pudding for dessert! The food and desserts are phenomenal here! Highly recommend

Visited today for the first time and I have nothing but amazing things to say. First off great, friendly service. Second the food was absolutely incredible. I ordered the SandShakers Burger and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Classic Burger and loved it as well. Will be back very soon! (P.S. you can park on the gravel road in front of the building)

Whoa...was not expecting that Grouper sandwich to taste that good with the kale. Definitely coming back!!

My wife and I decided to do a pub-bike down the pinellas trail. We saw Sandshakers and decided to stop in for a drink. It is definitely unassuming BUT the drinks are phenomenal and cheap. We didn't get food but we will be back!

parking was small but easy to navigate, right near the water. we stopped in on a thursday afternoon and sat on the outdoor patio. outside there was a cute bar, lots of fans, and live music on certain evenings. We each spent around 20 dollars for our meals + drinks. I have a lot of food allergies and the waitress made sure to double check if i could have certain items. the burgers were huge as pictures and really well seasoned/prepared. The blue cheese was very strong and the bacon was really crispy, all the other ingredients like the onions and lettuce were very fresh. only gripe is that the jalapeño popper on top of the sandshackle burger thingy was a little lack luster. still very yummy cute little spot!

This review is in response to Paul V.'s poor rating of this excellent establishment. Ordered a Diet Coke and grouper and after an exuberant amount of groupers in my life I could say this tops the list. In regards to the fries, I count 17, plenty to satisfy my belly after 27 holes of golf and two double transfusions. I did spot the coke storage and it was a chilly room temp. Any casual bar customer will know, beer, not wine is the play here. Fish tacos were also ample portion size. My boy Greg got the wings and rated them a solid 7/10. Dart machine ate my quarters but the barkeep was quick to remedy the situation. Excellent service, good food, and a fun spot to shoot pool with the locals.

    Great music on Tuesday nights

Went on a tuesday night and had a great time. It was open mic night so they had several musical acts play. They were all really good. The food is delicious here. Who ever is cooking is doing a great job. Wings were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Their ranch tasted home made and not store bought. Shrimp tacos were really good. Their burger is humongous and comes with a bacon wrapped grilled jalepeno on top. Their outdoor patio is the highlight of the place and thats where the stage is and most of the action. Liquor drinks were $6-$8. Beers are $5ish. I had to drink Jack because they dont have Jim Beam. Please get a bourbon! This place is a hidden gem in clearwater.

Food was decent. The chicken quesadilla was good. Our server was a sweetheart. I could see this place getting super busy on the weekend.

This week I visited Clearwater Florida for the first time, and Mio's Grill & Cafe was recommended…read moreby me to a friend who has visited Clearwater many times, and said to me that this restaurant was a "must visit" during my time here (and they were right). We sat outside during our meal and the ambiance and feel of the restaurant was very welcoming! As for entrees, I ordered the Chicken Gyro Platter which was very well made, seasoned perfectly, and presented very well. The chicken was very well seasoned along with it being perfectly cooked, and the Rice Pilaf was the same. Overall nothing I would change about this dish and I would recommend ordering it. Next, one of the people in my party ordered the Chicken Gyro Salad which they loved. Same as my dish, the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was also mentioned that the lettuce was extremely fresh which is always great to see. The last two members of our party ordered the Beef/Lamb Gyro Salad which they loved. Again the meet was cooked very well and the lettuce was extremely fresh and overall they both loved their meal. (We did also order the Baklava for dessert which was fantastic as well) To finish, our service was top tier and our server Tayfun was extremely attentive throughout our entire dining experience and was very friendly! Amazing 10/10 dining experience and would most definitely come here again and recommend to others!

We had a great experience here! Didn't take pictures because we were enjoying our conversation and…read morethe food was so good we forgot about taking pictures. We sat outside on the water and it was a little cool but a light jacket made it comfortable. It was a beautiful day! We started with Turkish Coffee, which was delicious! We have no idea how to "read the coffee grounds" HAHA but I can tell you mine looked like a duck and a crooked United States, if that helps anyones premonitions, LOL. We ordered the babaganouj appetizer, which was DELICIOUS!! It comes with pita, but for me, being gluten intolerant I asked for some vegetable. Waiter offered cucumber, but he only gave me 3 tiny pieces....so sad. Whatever, I wasnt going to let it go to waste so I just ate it with a fork. However I would suggest offering a proper portion of sliced cucumbers for your Gluten Free patrons, as a courtesy. I ordered the gluten free Falafel Salad and my son ordered the Yogurt Kebab. Both were very enjoyable! My falafels were moist on the inside with a crisp outer shell, my only suggestion would be to add a little Feta to the salad, wouldve been more interesting than pkind of plain and redundant--especially for just under $20. My son enjoyed his dish, even using the pita to scoop it up. We were so full and brought more than half home. The waiter was very kind and was generous to offer us a complimentary piece of Baklava (we had waited a bit for our food but it wasnt really a big deal--we were enjoying ourselves). Parking is a bit of a challenge because Columbia Rest and Backwaters has Valet that sort of capitalize the parking area-so plan ahead for that. We went at 2pm so it wasnt too difficult but I would guess dinner might be a challenge unless you use their Valet services--but Im only guessing. The restaurant is cute inside, and I saw they had a wine cooler. I think we'll go again and order a bunch of different appetizers and try some Turkish wine. I highly recommend trying Mio's!
