If you read my prior reviews, you know we love this place, and this is our third visit since it changed hands -- last two times have been great! BUT, this time I wasn't as happy. We did get great seating on the porch right away (before sunset on Friday PM), and our waiter was really friendly. After that, things changed... First, the fans were blowing at hurricane speed right on all of us. Maybe good during the day when it's summer, but not at night with a breeze. Thankfully one of the girls turned ours off. Second, the menu changed since we were here a few weeks ago -- changed items and higher prices. I've come to LOVE the beer-battered hog snapper platter. Came with 3 pieces and was $22... GONE. Now replaced with "fish & chips" -- 2 pieces of cod and now $24! COD costs HALF as much as hog snapper, so why give LESS and charge MORE? And it's a less flavorful fish. Really disappointed. Third, we were half way into our salads when the entree arrived. So it sat there getting cold (refer back to the fan complaint). Crabby's, please bring the hog snapper back or at least give a 3rd piece if you stay with the cod, and add another waiter or two on a busy Friday. We had a large party so we realize that's a challenge. We told them ahead of time we were coming and they advised us we would be placed at two tables. Despite knowing the number of our guests, we had to add seating to fit everyone around the tables. Our tables were in close proximity to each other, but they were unable to put everyone on one check. (Other beach restaurants manage to do this without difficulty.) Crabby's sets the table with small cups for water ~ no ice. They have carafes of water on the table. Nice ~ but ice would also be nice in July (or at least the offer of it.) Food: grouper sandwich. This is tough, because Frenchy's is right across the parking lot. If you want a wonderful Grouper Sandwich, go to Frenchy's. This one was pronounced "dry." Special: Red Fish Nuggets and Fries. I chose this instead of fish and chips. The food was good, but served cold, which was a disappointment. The "key lime tartar sauce" was not cold or chilled at all, and to my palate, nasty (taste and consistency.) Boom boom tacos: okay. Grouper tacos with coconut rice and beans: tacos were good. Rice was cold. Black beans appeared to have suffered from lamp exposure (crusted top). They covered the cold rice. Ick.. Child's grilled chicken: this child had eaten the Child's Grilled Chicken at Island Way Grill the night before ~ every bite. This grilled chicken was totally rejected. Also cold. Fish and Chips were good. Cole slaw has pineapples in it, in case you need that info. Paid parking available in the lot. So ~ Frenchy's is literally right here. The food will be much better. Frenchy's service is excellent and can manage curve calls better than Crabby's. Crabby's has indoor dining with air conditioning and live music. Good sunset viewing. Food? Not so much. read more

Vegetarian options are even fewer than when it was Palm Pavilion. No veggie wrap, no beans and rice, no beans for nachos, no vegetarian bowls. Prices have gone up at least 25% for all food. We won't be eating here anymore. It used to be our favorite beach restaurant. read more

I actually liked the food and atmosphere here much more than Frenchy's next door. Super polite and friendly staff. They were so sweet and accommodating. The food was way better here than next door as were the drinks. Very clean, friendly and family friendly dining. The prices were moderate. read more

Oh my goodness! We use to come here all the time when it was the Palm Pavilion. Well this is the best meal we have ever had here!! The view is still amazing and absolutely beautiful! I had the seared scallop special which was out of this world! It was an amazing dinner and they gave me so many scallops I could not believe it! The old bay chips did not have a lot of old bay flavor, actually there wasn't any old bay flavor. It didn't bother me because the side salad and scallops were so nice I barely ate the chips. Our server was very friendly but the service was very slow. This is a popular tourist spot so I'm hoping it gets a little faster. Overall I'll be back for the food and the view! read more

Initially, I was quite worried that the Clearwater pavilion that I've known for many many years went under, but to my joy when I arrived this past week, I saw that it was bought out by crabby's and of course I was going to have a meal there. I will say that it is better than the last owners. The ambience is much more fun now that they put the tables out on the sand, the food is better, the drinks are better, and our server was wonderful even the wonderful lady in the front Was great. I'm in Clearwater once or twice a year and there will be no doubt that I will return. read more

As most of you know, the Palm Pavilion Beachside Bar and Grill became Crabby's Beachside...And with the menu completely revamped, I needed to know if that burger improved. The verdict? It's a major improvement; it's not the best burger I've ever had, but it sure as hell is juicy and far more appetizing. The patty, the fries, everything...It still is lacking in cheese whenever I ask for it, however. While I feel like it can be better, hey, it's a fantastic start given the way the patty is done and the new fries they're using are a major upgrade...Whatever they're doing in the kitchen, I applaud the new chefs and "Connie" for introducing this new recipe! The service and ambience is as good as it was under Palm Pavilion's ownership. But I think that much is obvious...I still think they need more bartenders serving at once, especially given how insanely huge this bar is. Either way, it still maintains that classic beach shack feel that Palm Pavilion did, which I respect. I've only had one item thus far, but I have this feeling Crabby's Beachside Pavilion is gonna breathe new life into this place. I'm still thinking about this burger! read more

Okay we had to check the new Crabby place out. We were definitely a five-star fan of the Palm Pavilion. Anyhow, the remodel looks great. Love the way they have a little bar section in the middle if you wanted to just sit and have a beer and look at the sunset. They always have a band so that's always a plus. Unfortunately I can't say too much about the food. I ordered the clam chowder because I'm a soup lover. Unfortunately this did not make the cut. It was creamy but there was hardly any clams or potatoes in here. Flavor hardly any. Chowder means it's nice and chunky and has lots of clams and potatoes in there. I like the thought of bacon as it was listed on the menu but again I didn't see or taste much bacon. The beer was cold and $4 at a beach bar you can't complain. Atmosphere is fantastic so nothing changed there. Someone beside us ordered the Cajun shrimp over street corn. It looked pretty good and I certainly will give that a try next time. read more

Scrumptious!!! Parking lots are always a pain as parking is by the hour. We were able to find a spot.We walked right in on Saturday night around 6 for 2 people. Beautiful deck, huge bar area with lots of seats, great tables perfect for beach viewing or a sunset. Once seated it took the waitress a little while to come over as the place was busy. Ordered drinks and app, app arrived prior to our drinks. We got the nachos, only complaint too much gauc, I know sounds crazy but there was 3 full scoops would have liked more queso! Dinners ordered, surf and turf, crab legs and shortly afterwards they arrived. DANG!The crab legs were so delectable, the lobster tail WOWED me, the flavoring on the top was amazing.The side of Brussel sprouts were missing balsamic glaze in my opinion. Returnee from back when it had different ownership. As always the view is beautiful love the location. The service is perfect so many people around to check on you. Moving on to the food I believe it isn't as good as it was before but it's still decent. I think the price increased a little but that's not a big deal. Overall it's a nice sit down and eat place with others. We got a table instantly even tho the place was packed. Like it here a lot just not as good before management changed. read more

What a treat to eat and drink at Palm Pavilion while we were in Clearwater last month. Especially since it's still family owned. We enjoyed drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Awesome vibe and view looking out at the sandy beach and ocean. Our table was on the patio and we enjoyed at yummy lunch. The peel and eat shrimp was a highlight. Everything else was good. We stumbled upon this place and I must say ... we got lucky!! The food was spot on and the drinks were priced so well!! I had the chicken salad (the one with chili lime - vinaigrette and black bean corn salsa) I added the mango salsa to it (from their mahi mahi dish) AND OMG!! THE MOST REFRESHING SALAD!! SO BOMB! I would come back just for this salad! My partner had the chicken tacos! He cleared his plate in mins so I'm assuming they were good too! My grandparents used to stay at the palm pavilion inn years ago so when I was going to Clearwater for the day I knew I would have to stop by here for lunch. Such a classic spot, right on the beach and it's good to see that they have bounced back after the hurricane damage. There was nice live music just simple guitar in the background, and it was a beautiful day to eat out on the patio. I got a grouper sandwich and while it wasn't the best sandwich I've ever had, it was solid. The fries are amazing though! Our server was nice and although he accidentally charged us for an extra drink, he quickly corrected it. Palm Pavilion will always be nostalgic to me and I hope it is successful for years to come! read more

Get that it's busy but the young girl with long black hair working the front was incredibly snappy and hostile when I was asking questions and a waitress Catalina I asked if she was our server also was rude. It immediately soured the beginning of our experience at Palm Pavilion. Food was good - esp enjoyed the Florida Shrimp & Crab Chowder and the blackened grouper was good and we enjoyed the mango avocado salsa that came with the grilled mahi mahi. The scallops weren't that fresh and the Caesar salad was unremarkable. The Palm Runner cocktail was good but the Key Lime Colada was too sugary. Great food! Good service! A great place for a beautiful sunset! A long standing staple on Clearwater Beach! Love the grouper tacos. You can choose your side. I choose chips & guacamole. The grouper tacos have been a long-standing food item that everybody knows & has been to the Palm Pavilion, that this is one of their best dishes! I was so happy they opened back up after the hurricanes last year! I have a photo of my dad standing in front of this place when he was 14 years old! He was born in 1943! Wow! It originally opened in 1926! I always feel so blessed going here as many of my family members have dined here & the legacy still continues! The food is fantastic! Fresh, wonderful & absolutely delicious! Most afternoons have live music and breath taking sunsets! It is a definite MUST GO for anyone coming to the area. read more

Great service and location right on the beach in Clearwater. Although I came here after sunset (before heading to the beach at night hoping to catch the meteor shower and aurora), this would be the perfect place to watch the sunset. It was not very busy, likely due to the cold weather and time, but there are so many garage doors that open up right onto the beach. Thankfully, they had heaters going and live music too. The Cuban sandwich was good, as were the Cajun fries. read more

I eat dinner here last night. I ordered fried shrimp dinner. When I ate the first shrimp I knew that something was wrong. It was very tough! We had a wonderful lunch here while visiting the beach. I was a bit apprehensive thinking this spot was a tourist trap however I was proved wrong in many ways. I ordered the Palm burger partly based on other reviews I read and well I love cheeseburgers. It was very good. solid. I had fries which were thick and tasty, somewhere between a steak fry and normal fry. Where the experience really excelled was our waitress, Catalina. She was super friendly, personable and provided excellent service to our table the entire time. This is one of those times where I just marvel at how good aligned and good someone can be at their profession. She was accommodating to my children, she shared personal stories on recommendations for the food there. But at the same time she was not over the top or too much. We had drinks as well which were pretty good. We ate inside because of the party size which was fine, we had good views of the beach we just left. read more

This place was great! If you're looking for bar and grill food with a sunset view on the beach this is the perfect place! They had live music that was fun but not too loud. Either all of their servers are great or we just got super lucky, but our waitress was wonderful and so real. I really enjoyed eating here and looking forward to going back. Visited just prior to the dinner rush on a Friday evening. Ordered the grouper sandwich with fries. Had a frozen Florida Sunset for a cocktail. The food was fine. Not great, not bad. What you'd expect for a restaurant in a tourist location. The drink was a complete ripoff. I'm a very low tolerance drinker - I feel the alcohol very quickly on the odd occasion when I do have a drink. I am 100% positive there was no alcohol in it at all. This is theft. read more

Im not sure I've experienced worse service on Clearwater Beach, seriously! How long should one sit at the bar once their appetizer and initial drink is finished before there's even an acknowledgment? Pricier than their neighbors and terrible service when the restaurant and bar is no where near busy. Boo! read more
