I love this place so much! Free valet with restaurant receipt stamp validated by the server. However, we took an Uber to get here because we were barhopping all night. The Deep End is on the 11th floor. Since it was super windy out, they had the high-tech premium screen windshields down, so you couldn't really see the exterior, including the water views and the Gulf. You can't really hear the wind noise either these were high tech sun windscreens. We have the Shishido peppers and they were absolutely delicious. Definitely a must get when you order anything at this place. My better half got the corn and it was OK. I wouldn't order that again. He also got a number of different drinks that I also would never order here, including the passion martini. I would just stick to the usual original drinks such as the bloody Mary, daiquiris. We both like this strawberry basil Collins drink. That was the highlight of the night that my better half and I both agree since we don't agree on much when it comes to food and drinks lol. I wish the drinks would have garnish in them such as mint leaves, slices of oranges, etc. They have french fries here that are thin, just like McDonald's fries and they're absolutely delicious. The view at this place is amazing ! The sunset was the most beautiful sight and is definitely worth going to see. However sadly the service was not so good. The restaurant wasn't very busy so we were surprised especially because the server started out seemingly great. Then the $56 lobster came out cold and in 2 hours of a 4 person dinner we were only able to get the servers attention to get 1 drink each. When we asked to speak with a manager she came out on the offense and was incredibly rude. I don't think I would go back to eat here, but I definitely suggest seeing the sunset on the rooftop! For our meals, we ordered the Chimi Filet, Tuna Poke Bowl, and the Gulfview Salad with added grilled chicken. I enjoyed my Tuna Poke Bowl; it was filling and tasted good, but for the price, it could have included more tuna. The value didn't quite match the cost. One friend felt the steak was just okay and didn't care for the chimichurri sauce. Another ordered the Gulfview Salad with grilled chicken for an additional $13, which felt excessive. The chicken was average and didn't justify the added cost. The service was mixed. While our waitress started strong, it declined as the night went on. I wanted to order the Vegetable Bao Buns as my meal, but the waitress repeatedly told me they were an appetizer, despite me explaining that was what I wanted. I ended up ordering the poke bowl instead, but the interaction was frustrating and should not have occurred. The biggest issue was when we received our checks--our waitress never returned. After waiting over 30 minutes and asking another server for help, we were finally able to pay. During that time, other tables that arrived after us had already left. We stayed at the JW Marriott for 4 nights and ended up eating here twice because their food was really good. I personally loved their Shrimp Tempura Sushi - deep fried seaweed stuffed with rice and topped with shrimp tempura and their sauce. It's rather pricey at $25 for 2 especially when you can order the same shrimp tempura (I think it was their Rocking Shrimp) for almost the same price and you'll get 5-6 decent sized shrimps. We also loved their dumplings. For entree, we really like the deep fried snapper. The sauce was rather tangy, almost mustard like. We switched the Peruvian potatoe purée for rice instead. Service was good. Shout out to Sebastian who took really good care of us. My hubby thinks their Pina Colada tasted better than the ones we get from the beach services. A Perfect Final Night in Clearwater I chose this spot for our last dinner in Clearwater, and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the moment you pull up to valet, you're wrapped in genuine hospitality. The warm welcome in the lobby and friendly greeting from the hostess set the tone right away. Carmen checked us in and let us know the wait would be about five minutes. I asked if we could sit by the window to enjoy the view, and without hesitation, she said it wouldn't be a problem. Before seating us, she personally inspected the table to make sure it was spotless--such a nice touch. Within minutes, we were seated, and our server Gigi came by to introduce herself. She was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when I couldn't decide on what to order. My husband had the Lomo Saltado, I went with the Grouper (which they gladly swapped from rice to Yuca fries--no problem at all), my mother-in-law enjoyed the Salmon Bowl, and my 9-year-old had the shrimp stir fry. I usually never finish my meals, but this time, I cleaned my plate! Every part of the experience--food, ambiance, view, drinks, and service--was a 10/10. What was advertised as a speakeasy fell short of anything but a speakeasy it was only an exit entryway to the same existing restaurant which you could've walked in on the other side there was no ambience. The service was extremely poor. The drinks not that good at all, the total disappointment was the fact that it was advertised as a speakeasy night last night and it was not even that in fact, the staff said don't blame me. I only work here. It was an extreme disappointment. If it ever pops up again don't go. Absolutely delicious food and cocktails! We loved the charred edamame which was topped with a delicious soy drizzle and some really interesting seasoning. The chicken bao was out of this world (soft, crunchy, sweet, savory, creamy, etc) AND it comes with fries. This is at the JW so you already know the service is impeccable! The views are gorgeous. The location and service are 5 stars. The food misses the mark completely. A fusion of arguably two of the top cuisines in the world, Japanese and Peruvian, with both of them being highly rich and diverse, they just don't mix here. The noodles were wet and had a plastic feel. Granted, they are rice noodles, but I have had plenty of wonderfully prepared rice noodles at many Asian restaurants, and these were simply ... dismal. The fish was properly cooked, but they added too many condiments to it, effectively obliterating its flavor. It could have had the rice cakes with the sauce, and it all would have tasted the same. Also followed by a hefty price tag. I usually don't write two or one-star reviews, I just stay away from the place. But here... The handcrafted cocktails and innovative food are absolutely delicious and you can't beat the water views from the 11th floor! The restaurant overlooks the pool at the JW so the atmosphere is very fun and casual. My husband visited The Deep End every night of our trip for a nightcap and appetizer. I had the pleasure of having lunch here and I can see why my husband enjoyed this restaurant so much. My Frozen Pisco Sour was one of the best cocktails I have had. I don't usually order frozen cocktails because they are usually too sweet, but my cocktail was nice and tart! It was perfect in the sweltering heat! Our spicy charred edamame and pork dumplings with fried seaweed garnish were fantastic. The star of the show were my ahi tuna bao tacos. They fish was fresh, the buns were light and airy, and the sriracha aioli gave the "tacos" a nice spicy kick. I had the choice of yuca fries or seaweed salad and opted for the fresh and salty seaweed salad. There is a kid's menu with burgers and chicken tenders so feel free to bring the kiddos. Our toddlers loved their chicken and fries and our waitress was so sweet to our boys and was kind enough to bring them plastic straw cups of apple juice while my husband and I enjoyed our adult beverages. The only negative remark I can make about The Deep End is that there is no air conditioning in this open air restaurant. There are fans in the restaurant, but I was melting in the July afternoon heat. I did stop by during the evening and the temperature was much more pleasant! read more

It was a nice surprise to see Asian fusion and Peruvian Food Options on the menu. In addition you will see a great number of drinks to keep you refreshed on your vacation in Clearwater Beach. This restaurant is open air and covered meaning no AC, but when the ocean breeze is coming through it will be quite nice. The views are impeccable and you will see the water, the palm trees, the bridge that goes to Sand Key and Sand Key Beach. We ordered the Kaarage Pollo which came with tostones and this was a nice size entree enough for us to split. It was tasty and flavorful. You will definitely feel vacation vibes when you visit. STUNNING! Best service we have enjoyed in a long while by Jordan and Rachel. Thank you for making my friend's birthday celebration so special. We both felt appreciated and so pampered that we are going to shout from the rooftops how top-notch this restaurant is for ambiance, service, and food. When I made the reservation on the phone earlier this day, I knew as I spoke with Joy that this place cares about its guests. From parking at the valet with friendly Phoebe and Caleb to being welcomed by Shannon at the front desk who took the time to walk us over to the elevators and tell us that The Deep End is floor #11. Once out of the elevator we were met by a guy who had helped my friend with valet downstairs just minutes earlier. He opened the pool gate for us and then led us to the gorgeous place where The Deep End sits. You look all around you and see water, high rises on the water, beach sand, blue skies, and more water. AMAZING! Greeted by a very friendly hostess who had gotten wind of the fact that it was my friend's birthday celebration and we were feeling special again. We are seated with Jordan as our server and she is very friendly and efficient. She gave us lots of time to visit and make our dining decisions. Started with Malbec wine by the glass (not priced badly for a high-end spot like the JW) and excellent edamame. We moved into the bao buns with veggies - super flavorful and accompanied by yucca fries that were seasoned perfectly. The Japanese carrot ginger salad rocked with a piece of blackened grouper on top. The grouper is the only thing that left me wanting something a bit more special. I believe they might have grilled it and not blackened it as we requested. The cut of fish was nice but the upcharge of $18 should provide the correct preparation and a little more bang for the buck. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was the key lime cake pops that were placed artfully atop shaved white chocolate, fresh berries, and a "Happy Birthday" stenciled piece of dark chocolate. One small candle with lots of love affirmed our newfound love for this gem of a restaurant sitting on the Deep End of Clearwater Beach. Beautiful rooftop location atop the new, JW Marriott. A lovely place for sunset cocktails and photo ops. The initial drink order was mixed up but we enjoyed it and never mentioned it. Everything else was an unfortunate miss. Fish in a crusted cream sauce served room temperature with a crispy rice that was never intended to be crispy. It had obviously been sitting for some time while it waited for the overcooked and under-seasoned duck that was at least warm. Even though it was stone cold, I could appreciate the flavorful sauce and the freshness of the fish. Peruvian corn was used as a garnish but it was bland and scattered on the plate without much thought. The "creamsicle" dessert that management offered was an interesting combination of sweet and tart with a crunchy crumble. The coffee that was to accompany it was forgotten. It was a busy holiday weekend so maybe this was a contributing factor. I really wanted to love this experience but it turned out to be more like a series of unfortunate events. read more

The food was good but service not quite there our server wasn't very attentive to us and more to the larger parties because obviously they have a bigger bill therefore bigger tip but we kept having to wait for our drinks even though the bar wasn't busy like our first 2 cocktails took as long as an appetizer would have and I had to cancel 2 shots of tequila because it took too long to come from when we ordered it by then we had practically finished our meal and wanted it before so she apologized and then when canceled the shots I said we'd just do dessert but by the time she came back again we just wanted to pay and go so she apologized for the long wait again and brought over 2 glasses of champagne unfortunately one of them had brown reside on the inside of the glass so had to ask for another I didn't still tip 22% at least Maybe just try to sit at the bar top instead But the view was great read more

We spend a wonderful week at the JW Marriott Clearwater, Fl. The hotel has the coolest restaurant on the 11th floor - The Deep End. It is open air with a wonderful view of the bay! The food is Asian inspired and out of this world. We tried the Bao tacos which were so delicious, the Asian influenced ceviche (had double orders) and enjoyed the Grouper and braised ribs. Holy cow - such amazing food! However - our experience would not have been so amazing if it wasn't for the staff of The Deep End. Everyone was soooo wonderful and thoughtful! The star of the restaurant is Rachel! She not only provided us with the best service we have ever had, but truly cared about our experience and who we were as guests. Terrible Stay - Got Food Poisoning + Noisy Wedding on My Floor I had high expectations for the JW Marriott, but this stay was a disaster. I checked in on 4/30 and grabbed two meals on-site lunch at The Deep End (rooftop restaurant) and dinner at the bottom-floor restaurant. Everything seemed fine until around 2 a.m., when I woke up violently ill with food poisoning. I spent hours in the bathroom, unable to sleep, and was completely out of commission the next day. I was supposed to speak at a dental conference but barely made it due to severe stomach pain and fatigue, which lasted for the rest of the week. I informed hotel management and was offered a $100 credit an insult considering I was sick in bed for days and missed work obligations. As if that wasn't bad enough, the last night of my stay featured a wedding on my floor. Guests were yelling, slamming doors, and partying well into the night. No peace, no rest. Extremely disappointed in this experience. Not at all what you'd expect from a JW Marriott. Would not recommend. read more

We thought it was so good we dined in another night to get the actual restaurant experience. The chicken tacos were fantastic - super crispy and flavorful. We were super fans of the yuca fries, add that seaweed on top with some of the sauce - MM SO GOOD. Both times we were spoiled because we asked for a spicy sauce and they whipped something up for us and it was perfection we personally think they should add that to the menu. I ordered a mocktail and one ingredient was hard to find so I didn't get my drink until after our meal which I really didn't mind but $18 for a mocktail is steep. Salmon bowl was tasty (next time I would skip the rice noodles-dry and crunchy for extra seaweed salad). Hamburger was good. Fries were ok. My biggest complaint was that when I made the reservation I asked for a window seat. Zou said she couldn't promise but would try. When we arrived there were 6-4 tops available next to the windows. I went here with my sister on Christmas Day, and while it wasn't our typical Christmas meal--it did not disappoint. The restaurant is on the 11th floor of the JW Marriott and has floor to ceiling windows that open up and over look the ocean. It is a beautiful ambiance. We sat at the bar and Alana is such a great bartender! I asked her about the Toki Sour drink and how it was and she elaborately described the flavors and differences between this and a New York sour and flavor notes to pick out. I opted for this drink and it is very good and also very strong! My sister got the pisco sour which was also very tasty. To eat, we got the chicken bao and the cauliflower bao and split them. I thought I'd prefer the chicken when we ordered but I actually absolutely loved the cauliflower one. I'd still get them both again as the flavor is there, sauce is yummy and it's perfectly cooked. These come with a side of seaweed salad, yuka fries or regular fries but we asked if we could sub our side out for the Japanese ginger salad which is light and refreshing and just what I was needing. The Deep End is an absolute nightmare in terms of customer service, management, and their reservation system processes. For the last night of our family vacation, we reserved a table for 5 for dinner just before sunset at what seemed to be a lovely rooftop restaurant. We used opentable for the reservation. We got there a few minutes early and let the hostess station know our names and that we had arrived. She and another hostess checked her list to verify our reservation, then she showed us the table by the window we would be seated at, but said she needed a few minutes to have it cleaned and set it up for us. After a short while, when she called out our name, ANOTHER family (of only 3) claimed to be us and quickly sat at the table to settle in. It was bizarre! We realized what was happening, and explained to the hostess the reservation/table was ours, and the family said they have a name similar to ours, and were a family of 3. At this point the table was clearly set for 5, and clearly not theirs. The hostess confirmed it was ours, but seemed like she didn't know what to do next. Shockingly, this imposter family did not get up from the table, and the hostess told us they felt awkward asking them to move, even though she and another hostess could not find this "similar" name on their list. Basically they took our reservation! Yes, there are shameless and dishonest people out there... but The Deep End, and ultimately Marriott, was to blame. It gets worse. Instead of the restaurant manager helping the hostesses correct the situation, and having the family move, he told us they were unfortunately busy, and they had no choice but to have us wait for a "table somewhere in the back against a wall." When we said this was unacceptable, that this other group who had no reservation should have to wait/move, the manager told us we could either take his offer or he may need to call security. Yes, you read that right. Completely turned off, we said we had no interest in staying, and gave him our parking ticket to validate so we could leave, but then he refused to give it back! He tried to engage us again about a table we could wait for in the back. At this point we didn't trust this man or him handling our food. The whole ordeal was upsetting and surreal, and we just wanted to leave but could not without our parking ticket, which he still had. When the hotel manager arrived, he quietly apologized, and validated our parking ticket, and off we went on a Saturday night to find somewhere else to eat. Unfortunately, decency and customer service were nowhere to be found tonight at The Deep End. It is clear the restaurant manager is out of his league, insecure in his role, ill-equipped to handle issues, and would do well finding another profession. He escalated a situation, instead of diffusing it, and ruined our family's evening, and did damage to the hotel brand. Now... on to Marriott Corporate. read more

This place is amazing. The guacamole is great. There's a Japanese crispy shrimp. What flavor! 6 pieces per order. I had a wagu sirloin. Made with a puruvian spice rub. So tender and flavorful. My wife wasn't hungry so she just got a cheeseburger. To her surprise she said it was the best cheeseburger she ever had. I tasted it and very much agree. Not only was it moist but the meat had a flavor onto itself, that you normally don't get in a hamburger. If you're in Clearwater I guarantee you will not be disappointed in this place.
