I would give zero stars if that was possible. I've never experienced a situation where I was rushed three times in less than two minutes to order when a restaurant closes in 45 minutes. The BEST SUSHI IN CLEARWATER. The prices are amazing and I crave their chicken fried rice daily. The sushi is incredibly fresh, whether it's sashimi, sushi rolls, or dishes they are mouthwatering and pleasant always. Not only that but I was devastated I placed a Uber Eats order and forgot my favorite/ miso soup. I called and asked if they were able to add miso soup and adjust my price accordingly but the nice lady on the phone informed me they could not. Which is expected it was my mistake. Small and cute! I love the fengshui! I ordered a cup of green tea, which was divine. The gyoza was crispy and tender, while the chicken yaki udon tasted fresh and savory; a very nice flavor . Felt like staying in and ordered Umai Cafe for take-out delivery on our last night in Sand Key. We both ordered a teriyaki bento box and we're pleasantly surprised by the amount of food+sides and overall quality. The miso soup was so soothing, the tempura batter perfection, and the California-roll alternative was a delicious imitation crab + crunchy flakes combo. My beef teriyaki was tender and I really enjoyed the teriyaki sauce. Falls in my realm of comfort food after several days of eating American/casual poolside. The food was great!! HOWEVER the dining experience was terrible. Our hostess sat us and left us there roughly for 30 min , we had to ask if we can order. I didn't know we had to ask to order. When we finally were ordering, she had rushed us and had a bad attitude. When my friends got their miso soup, they didn't like how the flavoring was so one asked if she could switch out for the salad. Oh boy did the host to sit there and get upset that she snatched away the soup, tried to take my salad so I had to tell her to put my salad down and she just threw salad dressing into my friends salad bowl to where it was leaking all on the side of the bowl and then she tossed it on the table. From that point on we were too afraid to ask for anything else. We were 40 minutes late with going back to work from my lunch because we kept getting ignored. Ordered Umai Cafe from Uber eats (which I don't usually use due to high fees and what they take from businesses) however it has been a LONG DAY. I decided to go with two rolls plus a seaweed salad which all arrived well and intact. I went with the Samurai roll and Ichiban roll after reading some reviews. Between the two, I ordered the Ichiban roll which had a lot of flavor and crunch which was a perfect combo. The rolls were definitely pricey at $18 for the Ichiban and $16 for the Samurai but definitely marked up due to Uber Eats. The seaweed salad was a good size for the price and delicious. Both rolls had extremely fresh fish and traveled well considering. Overall, I wish the rolls were a few dollars cheaper but the quality of the fish was excellent. The samurai roll didn't blow me away so I'll try a different option next time. Highly recommend the Ichiban roll and looking forward to my next visit! read more

The broth appeared more like miso and the shredded kelp was not complimentary at all. In fact it smelled weird and tasted, well, it just wasn't good. The pork was extremely thinly sliced, there were a decent amount of veggies, and the ramen noodles looked like they came out of a ramen noodle package. Just... don't. Craving ramen? Don't come here. To give you a comparison, Ken Sushi is my favorite spot for high quality sushi but Umai really takes it for quality and price. I got the Sunshine roll, sake nigiri, hamachi nigiri and escolar nigiri. The quality and just how fresh the sushi is mind blowing. The fish melts in your mouth. My favorite out of then all would be the hamachi.
