I really enjoyed my dining experience here. The sushi chef was very sweet and made all of his food with love. This place is small and packs up pretty quickly. I'm actually surprised I've never reviewed this restaurant before. This is one of my go-to restaurants when I am on Clearwater Beach. It's a small place but the food is absolutely the freshest. The Tsu is knowledgeable very friendly and interactive. I'm glad they made it through the pandemic. They're always up for making suggestions on what you may like and today I tried unfiltered sake which was pretty adventurous for me and it was fabulous. The Chirachi was beautiful. (See pic). This is our go to spot! The sushi is the best in town and the size of the specialty rolls are the size of two. Our favorites are the super crunch roll, tempura eel and the volcano. We always get a few California too. We order to go and if there's one tip, what ever time they give to come pick up, add 10-15 more minutes or just come on time and chat with the chef. Meh, nothing special about this place except for how small and cramped it is. The quality of the fish was on par or below that of many less expensive places nearby, basically this place is overpriced even for Clearwater. The tuna was kind of tasteless. Yellowtail nigiri had a good texture, but was of lesser quality fish. Everything we had with crab was made with fake nasty krab. I don't believe there was any real crab in the building, but the price you were paying is for real crab. Lol The Clearwater roll was tasty, but had way too much eel sauce and crunch on it which drowned out the fish taste. The Tampa roll and the spicy tuna roll were just ok tasting, but completely fell apart. It took wwaaayyy too long to get our food. This restaurant is only big enough to hold ten or twelve people at the most, but our food took over an hour from the time we placed our order to get our sushi. The sushi chef was in serious slo-mo. Everyone was friendly, but the service was lacking. One of the wait staff was brand new as of today, so slightly understandable, but still aggravating considering how long everything else was taking as well. I'm super confused on all the 5 star ratings. I love a mom & pop restaurant, support local and never have an issue with waiting for good food to be prepared or even paying top dollar for it. I tend to not care about ambiance or decor inside either, just give me a place to eat it! But this restaurant was all the cons and none of the pros. We had the best experience at Sushi Tu! Came on a Sunday night & was greeted right away. We spent the evening talking to the personable Sushi Chef, Phon. The sushi wasn't bad but mediocre at best. The service was horrible. They made us sit outside. Normally under COVID I would understand but they allowed other large groups of people to eat inside after we requested to eat inside. Despite the dirty glass and providing the wrong food to another patron, we still decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Over and over we were failed as customers. We were charged the wrong items. We had to request for additional items such as sauces or chop sticks. We were left unattended and ignored for most of the visit. I am extremely disappointed. We came to celebrate a birthday dinner and we all left extremely dissatisfied. When asked about a price over the final bill, I was rudely handed a menu with the items circled. We sat at the bar and spoke with the sushi chef and ordered his recommendation of a triple crunch roll and a Tu's Sashimi Salad and I was not disappointed! The roll was this warm mix of spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, Pablo fried and topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, scallions and masago!! It was amazing and the size of 2 rolls. Now the Sashimi bowl was a mix of tuna, yellow tail, salmon sashimi, squid salad, seaweed salad and avocado served with a sauce that was out of this world yummy!!! It was the best of both worlds the cooked warm roll with the cold sour/yummy goodness of the Sashimi bowl! This will be my last meal if ever I am on death row!!!!! Oh and the family devoured their rolls as well! Hubby had a bagel roll and spicy tuna! Oldest Daughter had the Chirachi Sushi Bowl and woofed it down! I gotta go with 5 stars based on value. You CAN get better sushi in town. You CAN get it at much fancier restaurants and you CAN pay much more for it at those other restaurants. Our rolls were great, the sushi was fresh, service was prompt and courteous, and my party had an excellent dining experience here. They seem to do a lot of take out business. They take reservations. Because the restaurant is very small I recommend a reservation. Restrooms were clean. Parking can get challenging. There is a large grocery around the corner if you can't find a space. My only complaint would be that the miso soup was only fair. Not good but not bad. It wasn't bad enough to lose a star though. Located near Clearwater Marine Aquarium, this sushi spot is small inside, so don't bring along your party of 20 and expect to be seated quickly or altogether. But for couples or small groups, this is a great spot to go. The sushi is prepped right where you can see it & the chef is willing to accommodate food allergies with ease (my shellfish allergy is often a struggle when it comes to sushi, but not here). They also have a tasty miso soup that I regularly get. Walking in we were greeted by the nicest sushi chef. Due to CoVID some of the tabes were not available. I believe they said they were at 50% capacity so keep that in mind if you want to dine in. We ordered a few apps and some hot saki. Everything was delicious. The waiter was hustling but, was very efficient. Our rolls were excellent. The fish, fresh and tasty. They definitely have a local following for takeout and I understand why! Do yourself a favor and drop by and have some really good sushi. Thanks to a Yelp tip, I found this beautiful place to eat. From the hip modern Decour to the clean restrooms, this is a nice sushi place in the county. It seats about 15 to 20 people I'd say. It is the freshest most wonderful sushi I've had in Pinellas County in the four years I've lived here. There's nowhere else to go. From the salmon poke to the specialty rolls that I ordered very specifically, the chef was able to accommodate my every need. The food is wonderful I can't say it enough. They always say the hole-in-the-wall places are the best for food and music. When it comes to sushi, Sushi Tu was BOMB! I visited for supper on our driver's recommendation. He made the suggestion when we initially planned on going to a higher end spot. Walking up, this place is in the middle of a small shopping strip. I'd say the whole restaurant seating area is the size of my office. I think there were 4 tables and barstools set around the counter. But the set up is cool, casual, and intimate. Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the chef and the other patrons, and I felt at ease right away. I was a bit disappointed that they were out of uni on our first visit, but the chef assured us that he'd have some for us the next time we came in, which he did. Omg, the stuff was so fresh and nicely sliced, and presentation was on point. We also had some hot sake on each visit. I didnt ask the brand, but it was tasty and slightly sweet.
